transgress_v and_o make_v you_o a_o new_a heart_n and_o a_o new_a spirit_n for_o why_o will_v you_o die_v o_o house_n of_o israel_n for_o i_o have_v no_o pleasure_n in_o the_o death_n of_o he_o that_o die_v say_v the_o lord_n god_n wherefore_o turn_v yourselves_o and_o live_v you_o in_o these_o word_n the_o great_a duty_n or_o work_n of_o repentance_n sanctification_n regeneration_n mortification_n i_o may_v add_v of_o self-denial_n also_o be_v not_o only_o or_o simple_o require_v by_o god_n of_o man_n themselves_o but_o with_o a_o very_a gracious_a and_o compassionate_a expostulation_n about_o the_o misery_n which_o they_o will_v certain_o bring_v upon_o their_o own_o head_n if_o they_o do_v not_o perform_v they_o for_o why_o will_v you_o die_v etc._n etc._n together_o with_o promise_n upon_o promise_n of_o favour_n life_n and_o peace_n in_o case_n they_o do_v perform_v they_o so_o iniquity_n shall_v not_o be_v your_o ruin_n and_o again_o turn_v yourselves_o and_o live_v you_o that_o be_v and_o you_o shall_v certain_o live_v now_o it_o be_v broad_o inconsistent_a with_o that_o most_o gracious_a and_o merciful_a disposition_n unto_o the_o child_n of_o man_n which_o the_o yet_o in_o their_o sin_n and_o unbeliever_n have_v a_o sufficiency_n of_o grace_n power_n and_o mean_v vouchsafe_v unto_o they_o by_o god_n to_o make_v themselves_o new_a heart_n and_o new_a spirit_n to_o repent_v and_o turn_v themselves_o from_o all_o their_o transgression_n etc._n etc._n quest_n 9_o what_o be_v your_o three_o and_o last_v place_n of_o scripture_n to_o prove_v your_o assertion_n answ_n this_o place_n contain_v only_o these_o few_o word_n and_o he_o the_o lord_n christ_n marvel_v because_o of_o their_o unbelief_n if_o the_o people_n at_o or_o because_o of_o who_o unbelief_n marvel_n because_o a_o creature_n act_v not_o beyond_o or_o above_o the_o sphere_n of_o his_o activity_n as_o that_o a_o man_n shall_v not_o fly_v like_o a_o bird_n in_o the_o air_n that_o a_o ox_n shall_v not_o run_v swift_a than_o a_o greyhound_n or_o the_o like_a for_o a_o person_n to_o marvel_n that_o a_o man_n do_v not_o believe_v who_o he_o know_v to_o have_v no_o power_n of_o believe_v and_o to_o marvel_v that_o a_o stone_n do_v not_o speak_v hebrew_n or_o greek_a unto_o he_o be_v passion_n much_o of_o one_o and_o the_o same_o consideration_n quest_n 10._o what_o be_v now_o your_o reason_n and_o ground_n which_o strengthen_v your_o belief_n of_o the_o doctrine_n you_o maintain_v concern_v a_o sufficiency_n of_o power_n give_v by_o god_n unto_o man_n whereby_o to_o sanctify_v and_o regenerate_v and_o deny_v themselves_o to_o mortify_v the_o deed_n of_o the_o flesh_n etc._n etc._n answ_n there_o be_v many_o reason_n which_o prevail_v over_o my_o judgement_n to_o conclude_v grace_n and_o usual_o so_o call_v than_o he_o do_v in_o the_o first_o which_o be_v a_o covenant_n of_o work_n be_v very_o peremptory_a though_o righteous_a and_o just_a deny_v all_o mercy_n to_o transgressor_n for_o although_o in_o the_o first_o covenant_n he_o be_v very_o strict_a and_o severe_a against_o transgressor_n yet_o he_o be_v thus_o far_o gracious_a and_o indulgent_a unto_o his_o
