or_o the_o cartesian_a or_o any_o other_o see_v there_o be_v many_o kind_n of_o that_o call_v philosophy_n in_o the_o world_n who_o principle_n and_o rule_n direct_o contradict_v one_o another_o and_o the_o school_n in_o christendâ—m_n to_o this_o day_n have_v not_o agree_v in_o the_o common_a principle_n and_o
doctrine_n and_o word_n of_o god_n but_o he_o who_o speak_v it_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o none_o hear_v the_o word_n of_o god_n but_o he_o who_o hear_v it_o and_o into_o the_o heart_n and_o inward_a ear_n of_o his_o inward_a man_n receive_v it_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n to_o these_o only_a i_o say_v the_o doctrine_n be_v know_v and_o by_o these_o it_o be_v only_o receive_v as_o it_o be_v indeed_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o in_o this_o respect_n it_o be_v that_o paul_n commend_v such_o as_o receive_v the_o truth_n by_o the_o same_o spirit_n by_o which_o it_o be_v by_o i._o a._n his_o logic_n the_o apostle_n do_v vilify_v and_o despise_v the_o scripture_n and_o it_o be_v a_o needless_a or_o unuseful_a thing_n unto_o they_o see_v they_o have_v a_o inward_a dictate_v which_o be_v great_a or_o at_o lest_o equa_fw-la unto_o the_o scripture_n or_o let_v i._o a._n show_v how_o their_o have_v the_o inward_a dictate_v for_o their_o rule_n do_v not_o make_v this_o indeed_o be_v the_o general_a manner_n of_o our_o opposer_n who_o lie_v it_o down_o as_o a_o principle_n as_o need_v no_o proof_n that_o immediate_a revelation_n and_o teach_v of_o god_n spirit_n be_v cease_v but_o let_v i._o a._n know_v that_o we_o can_v receive_v no_o such_o doctrine_n as_o a_o principle_n from_o him_n but_o return_n it_o as_o a_o mere_a idle_a and_o false_a supposition_n which_o yet_o be_v the_o foundation_n of_o a_o great_a many_o of_o his_o consequence_n against_o we_o three_o that_o he_o say_v i_o shall_v first_o prove_v that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o dictate_v in_o every_o man_n i_o answer_v that_o i_o have_v do_v already_o in_o my_o book_n call_v immediate_a revelation_n publish_v many_o year_n ago_o by_o many_o argument_n and_o he_o shall_v ask_v he_o by_o what_o shall_v the_o american_n be_v judge_v at_o the_o last_o day_n shall_v it_o not_o be_v by_o the_o law_n of_o god_n write_v in_o their_o heart_n and_o do_v not_o these_o hope_n be_v enough_o to_o prove_v that_o even_o the_o american_n and_o consequent_o all_o man_n have_v a_o divine_a law_n in_o their_o heart_n for_o if_o it_o be_v not_o divine_a and_o as_o real_o the_o law_n of_o god_n as_o any_o that_o we_o have_v to_o transgress_v it_o be_v not_o a_o sin_n against_o god_n hence_o i_o thus_o argue_v a_o divine_a law_n in_o all_o man_n be_v

word_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o apostle_n because_o the_o people_n examine_v the_o latter_a by_o the_o former_a his_o four_o argument_n be_v build_v upon_o a_o supposition_n that_o the_o scripture_n must_v needs_o acknowledge_v it_o have_v to_o the_o prophet_n and_o apostle_n but_o he_o object_n that_o the_o devil_n may_v present_v a_o imposture_n unto_o a_o man_n with_o so_o much_o seem_a evidence_n as_o with_o the_o concurrence_n of_o a_o deceitful_a heart_n will_v make_v it_o be_v receive_v for_o a_o divine_a truth_n especial_o by_o that_o man_n that_o for_o the_o present_a time_n have_v no_o divine_a dictate_v to_o this_o i_o answer_v that_o the_o person_n suppose_v by_o i._n a._n be_v either_o one_o that_o the_o lord_n have_v in_o his_o just_a judgement_n for_o some_o great_a unfaithfulness_n and_o abuse_v of_o light_n former_o give_v deliver_v up_o to_o satan_n delusion_n such_o as_o these_o mention_v 2_o thess._n 2._o 11._o and_o as_o for_o he_o and_o the_o like_a sort_n the_o scripture_n can_v help_v he_o for_o certain_o he_o that_o be_v give_v up_o by_o the_o lord_n to_o the_o delusion_n of_o satan_n as_o a_o punishment_n of_o his_o sin_v against_o the_o light_n he_o once_o have_v will_v misunderstand_v the_o scripture_n and_o can_v otherwise_o do_v even_o as_o the_o jew_n and_o sadducee_n do_v of_o old_a but_o as_o for_o other_o that_o be_v not_o so_o give_v with_o the_o true_a dictate_v or_o light_v of_o christ_n that_o witness_v against_o it_o may_v ready_o discover_v it_o to_o be_v a_o delusion_n and_o if_o the_o say_a delusion_n be_v contrary_a to_o any_o doctrine_n express_o declare_v in_o the_o scripture_n the_o scripture_n will_v also_o be_v a_o secondary_a confirmation_n to_o he_o that_o what_o be_v so_o present_v to_o he_o be_v but_o a_o delusion_n but_o many_o time_n satan_n present_v delusion_n to_o man_n to_o do_v or_o act_v thing_n that_o be_v not_o simple_o in_o themselves_o unlawful_a or_o contrary_a to_o scripture_n and_o it_o be_v a_o exceed_o great_a mistake_n in_o our_o adversary_n general_o to_o suppose_v that_o our_o principle_n of_o immediate_a revelation_n or_o the_o immediate_a teach_n of_o the_o spirit_n do_v destroy_v or_o make_v null_n and_o void_a the_o use_n of_o the_o scripture_n or_o any_o other_o mean_n for_o by_o immediate_n we_o mean_v not_o immediate_a in_o opposition_n to_o those_o thing_n and_o this_o he_o make_v as_o ridiculous_a a_o consequence_n as_o to_o say_v the_o scripture_n be_v not_o write_v in_o the_o primitive_a world_n therefore_o neither_o afterward_o but_o i_o answer_v that_o to_o argue_v from_o thence_o that_o the_o scripture_n be_v not_o to_o be_v our_o only_a and_o principal_a rule_n be_v both_o safe_a and_o pertinent_a for_o it_o enoch_n noah_n abraham_n have_v the_o spirit_n to_o be_v a_o rule_n unto_o they_o it_o be_v no_o less_o a_o rule_n unto_o all_o now_o who_o have_v the_o same_o faith_n which_o they_o have_v see_v the_o same_o spirit_n be_v give_v to_o believer_n now_o which_o they_o have_v which_o spirit_n be_v one_o as_o paul_n have_v declare_v and_o it_o be_v most_o rational_a that_o as_o the_o faith_n be_v one_o in_o all_o age_n of_o the_o world_n and_o the_o spirit_n one_o so_o the_o principal_a rule_n of_o faith_n shall_v be_v one_o also_o nine_o he_o say_v i_o object_n quakerism_n no_o popery_n pag._n 9_o 13._o that_o the_o testimony_n of_o the_o spirit_n within_o be_v great_a than_o the_o external_n testimony_n of_o the_o scripture_n and_o therefore_o the_o say_a testimony_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v the_o principal_a rule_n to_o which_o he_o roundly_o answer_v by_o deny_v that_o there_o be_v any_o such_o testimony_n of_o the_o spirit_n within_o believer_n and_o because_o i_o say_v there_o be_v he_o allege_v i_o drive_v the_o plough_n before_o the_o oxen._n but_o i_o answer_v that_o i_o have_v prove_v it_o sufficient_o already_o and_o now_o also_o i_o have_v answer_v i_o hope_v sufficient_o all_o his_o never_o deny_v the_o spirit_n teach_v yet_o how_o inconsistent_a that_o be_v with_o deny_v any_o testimony_n of_o the_o spirit_n or_o dictate_v thereof_o in_o man_n heart_n be_v the_o teach_v of_o the_o spirit_n only_o a_o outward_a thing_n be_v it_o nothing_o else_o but_o to_o hear_v or_o read_v the_o letter_n of_o the_o scripture_n and_o be_v they_o all_o teach_v of_o the_o spirit_n who_o be_v but_o only_o and_o mere_o teach_v by_o the_o letter_n but_o if_o it_o be_v grant_v that_o there_o be_v a_o inward_a teach_v of_o the_o spirit_n distinct_a from_o the_o outward_a teach_v of_o the_o scripture_n although_o not_o separate_v therefrom_o or_o without_o the_o outward_a as_o i_o know_v some_o of_o the_o more_o sober_a do_v acknowledge_v then_o i_o say_v be_v not_o that_o inward_a teach_v a_o testimony_n of_o the_o spirit_n for_o to_o affirm_v it_o to_o be_v a_o teach_v and_o no_o testimony_n seem_v to_o i_o to_o be_v a_o great_a contradiction_n and_o as_o for_o we_o although_o we_o can_v say_v that_o the_o inward_a teach_v or_o testimony_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v never_o in_o any_o case_n without_o the_o outward_a yet_o we_o grant_v it_o be_v oft_o accompany_v with_o the_o outward_a and_o in_o that_o case_n it_o be_v no_o less_o true_o immediate_a than_o if_o it_o be_v without_o it_o as_o i_o have_v already_o show_v and_o suppose_v but_o not_o at_o all_o grant_n that_o the_o inward_a teach_v of_o the_o spirit_n be_v never_o without_o the_o outward_a of_o the_o letter_n yet_o see_v the_o outward_a teach_v of_o the_o letter_n be_v oft_o without_o the_o inward_a for_o many_o be_v teach_v by_o the_o letter_n who_o be_v not_o spiritual_o teach_v all_o that_o the_o letter_n have_v outward_o teach_v they_o it_o follow_v evident_o that_o the_o inward_a teach_v of_o the_o spirit_n and_o outward_a teach_v of_o the_o letter_n be_v distinct_a thing_n as_o be_v manifest_a from_o that_o sure_a maxim_n that_o when_o two_o thing_n can_v be_v separate_a so_o as_o the_o one_o to_o be_v without_o the_o other_o they_o be_v real_o distinct_a this_o argument_n i_o use_v in_o my_o book_n call_v quakerism_n no_o popery_n but_o i._o a._n have_v make_v no_o reply_n to_o it_o and_o still_o i_o say_v if_o the_o inward_a teach_v of_o the_o spirit_n be_v deny_v it_o do_v follow_v that_o in_o respect_n of_o any_o inward_a speak_v or_o teach_v god_n do_v no_o more_o intelligible_o or_o perceptible_o speak_v to_o the_o saint_n than_o he_o speak_v to_o the_o earth_n to_o bring_v forth_o grass_n the_o which_o consequence_n i._o a._n seem_v to_o allow_v but_o how_o absurd_o i_o leave_v to_o sober_a man_n to_o judge_v and_o whereas_o i._o a._n say_v that_o god_n do_v not_o always_o make_v use_n of_o the_o great_a witness_n for_o testify_v his_o will_n to_o we_o i_o answer_v in_o respect_n of_o man_n and_o angel_n it_o be_v true_a but_o notwithstanding_o god_n have_v give_v himself_o and_o his_o own_o holy_a spirit_n which_o be_v one_o with_o he_o to_o be_v unto_o we_o a_o witness_n of_o his_o will_n and_o this_o be_v the_o great_a witness_n that_o can_v be_v give_v see_v rom._n 8._o 16._o 1_o joh._n 5._o 8_o 9_o chap._n viii_o in_o his_o pretend_a survey_n of_o the_o five_o query_n he_o begin_v with_o two_o false_a charge_n against_o we_o the_o first_o that_o we_o deny_v all_o scripture_n interpretation_n the_o second_o that_o we_o deny_v all_o
