the_o state_n of_o grace_n and_o right_o to_o righteousness_n and_o eternal_a life_n through_o jesus_n christ._n 3._o divine_a operation_n and_o save_a grace_n which_o accompany_v salvation_n such_o not_o a_o few_o convert_n before_o faith_n in_o christ_n do_v show_v itself_o in_o they_o clear_o so_o also_o love_n to_o god_n and_o his_o saint_n ofttimes_o may_v be_v discern_v in_o a_o regenerate_a man_n before_o he_o himself_o dare_v affirm_v any_o thing_n of_o his_o faith_n in_o christ._n 4._o albeit_o there_o be_v many_o regenerate_a person_n who_o for_o the_o present_a time_n can_v perceive_v in_o themselves_o any_o undoubted_a sign_n of_o their_o conversion_n yet_o it_o be_v certain_a also_o that_o there_o be_v many_o who_o to_o their_o own_o unspeakable_a comfort_n be_v assure_v of_o their_o regeneration_n and_o that_o they_o be_v translate_v from_o death_n to_o life_n and_o that_o they_o have_v receive_v the_o spirit_n of_o adoption_n and_o earnest_n of_o eternal_a convert_n know_v certain_o the_o blessedness_n of_o his_o own_o state_n and_o that_o he_o stand_v in_o grace_n and_o favour_n with_o god_n it_o be_v not_o possible_a for_o he_o to_o give_v hearty_a thanks_o to_o god_n for_o the_o change_n of_o his_o state_n from_o be_v a_o enemy_n to_o be_v make_v a_o reconcile_a subject_n and_o child_n of_o god_n it_o be_v not_o possible_a for_o he_o to_o rejoice_v in_o the_o lord_n or_o set_v cheerful_o himself_o to_o serve_v god_n or_o comfortable_o call_v on_o god_n as_o a_o father_n to_o he_o in_o christ_n wherefore_o all_o who_o in_o the_o sense_n the_o apostle_n thank_v god_n through_o christ._n 2._o by_o the_o tentation_n of_o satan_n ofttimes_o the_o persuasion_n of_o holy_a man_n be_v darken_v so_o as_o they_o can_v see_v the_o evidence_n of_o their_o own_o regeneration_n clear_o for_o satan_n set_v himself_o to_o vex_v the_o saint_n who_o be_v deliver_v from_o his_o kingdom_n and_o bond_n who_o albeit_o he_o know_v that_o he_o can_v destroy_v they_o yet_o he_o will_v not_o cease_v to_o trouble_v they_o that_o at_o least_o he_o may_v make_v they_o some_o way_n unfit_a for_o god_n service_n and_o mar_v their_o cheerfulness_n in_o his_o service_n and_o because_o he_o fear_v harm_n from_o they_o unto_o his_o kingdom_n by_o their_o deal_n with_o the_o unconvert_v to_o repent_v their_o sin_n and_o to_o turn_v unto_o god_n therefore_o he_o find_v they_o work_v at_o home_n in_o their_o own_o bosom_n and_o put_v they_o to_o defend_v themselves_o and_o to_o forbear_v to_o invade_v his_o subject_n till_o they_o be_v settle_v themselves_o 3._o ofttime_n the_o lord_n be_v offend_v by_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o regenerate_a and_o special_o by_o their_o gross_a transgression_n for_o which_o his_o spirit_n be_v grieve_v themselves_o in_o a_o evil_a condition_n and_o some_o instance_n of_o their_o be_v displease_v with_o themselves_o in_o a_o good_a condition_n it_o follow_v that_o we_o give_v some_o instance_n of_o a_o three_o sort_n of_o mistake_v in_o the_o convert_v complain_v of_o his_o condition_n as_o if_o it_o be_v altogether_o evil_a when_o indeed_o his_o condition_n be_v partly_o good_a and_o partly_o evil_a and_o the_o first_o shall_v be_v of_o those_o who_o do_v lament_v their_o condition_n because_o they_o can_v be_v affect_v with_o the_o sense_n of_o their_o sin_n nor_o with_o the_o sense_n of_o god_n benefit_n and_o favour_n bestow_v on_o they_o as_o they_o shall_v can_v be_v affect_v with_o the_o sense_n of_o threaten_a judgement_n as_o be_v require_v and_o can_v be_v affect_v with_o the_o sense_n of_o the_o misery_n and_o mercy_n dispense_v towards_o other_o and_o can_v come_v up_o to_o the_o obedience_n of_o the_o apostle_n precept_n to_o rejoice_v with_o they_o that_o rejoice_v and_o to_o mourn_v with_o they_o that_o mourn_v which_o do_v so_o afflict_v they_o as_o they_o reckon_v this_o their_o condition_n altogether_o evil_a and_o be_v near_o unto_o discouragement_n sinfulness_n but_o those_o who_o do_v not_o acknowledge_v their_o sin_n and_o go_v on_o in_o they_o when_o they_o hear_v they_o reprove_v misregarding_a what_o god_n say_v command_v commend_v or_o sense_n of_o this_o defect_n in_o his_o affection_n study_v to_o bring_v forth_o the_o effect_n of_o those_o affection_n that_o be_v to_o say_v let_v he_o go_v about_o to_o do_v the_o work_n of_o a_o lover_n of_o god_n in_o have_v respect_n to_o all_o his_o commandment_n and_o to_o do_v the_o work_n of_o a_o compassionate_a affection_n towards_o man_n in_o misery_n of_o soul_n or_o body_n and_o so_o what_o seem_v to_o he_o in-laking_a in_o his_o heart_n shall_v be_v find_v forthcoming_a in_o his_o hand_n and_o action_n for_o the_o great_a glory_n to_o god_n and_o edification_n of_o his_o neighbour_n chap._n xxi_o concern_v the_o convert_n despise_v of_o his_o own_o exercise_n of_o religion_n because_o of_o his_o feel_a vanity_n of_o mind_n therein_o ali_n true_a convert_n do_v agree_v in_o this_o principle_n that_o god_n shall_v be_v worship_v in_o spirit_n and_o truth_n and_o that_o the_o more_o a_o man_n strive_v to_o be_v sincere_a and_o upright_a in_o his_o worship_n the_o less_o can_v be_v comport_v with_o the_o sin_n which_o do_v hinder_v his_o worship_n when_o therefore_o a_o true_a convert_n do_v perceive_v in_o himself_o so_o great_a levity_n of_o his_o thought_n that_o in_o the_o very_a time_n of_o hear_v sermon_n pray_v to_o god_n or_o sing_a of_o psalm_n his_o mind_n run_v out_o to_o think_v of_o naughty_a and_o profane_a thing_n impertinent_a idle_a and_o foolish_a matter_n unworthy_a of_o his_o thought_n at_o any_o time_n but_o most_o untimous_a and_o sinful_a in_o the_o time_n of_o divine_a service_n he_o be_v so_o displease_v with_o his_o condition_n that_o he_o condemn_v all_o the_o service_n and_o devotion_n he_o be_v about_o for_o the_o time_n and_o cast_v it_o away_o as_o altogether_o pollute_v and_o
from_o the_o body_n of_o this_o death_n and_o while_o he_o search_v how_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o such_o a_o body_n of_o death_n lodge_v in_o the_o child_n of_o god_n and_o so_o powerful_a relic_n of_o sin_n remain_v in_o the_o justify_v man_n he_o can_v satisfy_v himself_o consider_v that_o god_n do_v hate_v sin_n and_o make_v the_o new_a creature_n hate_v it_o also_o which_o god_n can_v easy_o take_v away_o in_o a_o moment_n in_o the_o day_n of_o the_o convert_v reconciliation_n and_o justification_n 2._o for_o answer_v to_o this_o question_n if_o a_o reason_n of_o god_n the_o relic_n of_o sin_n how_o odious_a and_o loathsome_a soever_o they_o be_v in_o themselves_o yet_o he_o can_v in_o his_o deep_a wisdom_n make_v use_v thereof_o in_o a_o most_o holy_a way_n for_o
