faith_n it_o be_v impossible_a to_o please_v god_n for_o he_o that_o come_v 11.6_o heb._n 11.6_o to_o he_o must_v believe_v etc._n etc._n three_o because_o it_o be_v faith_n only_o that_o innishuate_v and_o this_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o this_o text._n we_o may_v also_o observe_v that_o judas_n speak_v a_o prophecy_n of_o enoch_n the_o 7_o from_o adam_n who_o do_v prophecy_n of_o the_o great_a wickedness_n of_o the_o last_o and_o great_a antichrist_n and_o the_o manner_n of_o his_o destruction_n compare_v with_o the_o word_n of_o peter_n chap._n 3.7_o and_o the_o prophet_n ezekiel_n with_o that_o be_v he_o will_v have_v mercy_n on_o humble_a penitent_a repent_a soul_n and_o he_o will_v give_v up_o stubborn_a
sinner_n to_o hardness_n of_o heart_n although_o they_o be_v the_o child_n of_o a_o father_n belove_v of_o god_n and_o also_o if_o daniel_n noah_n and_o job_n shall_v entreat_v for_o they_o as_o moses_n do_v say_v have_v mercy_n on_o these_o people_n and_o remember_v their_o father_n viz._n abraham_n isaac_n and_o jacob_n yet_o they_o shall_v deliver_v but_o their_o own_o soul_n for_o he_o who_o have_v resist_v his_o will_n annot._n in_o this_o verse_n we_o may_v clear_o see_v the_o apostle_n raise_v a_o octjection_n the_o which_o he_o answer_v in_o the_o follow_a verse_n the_o objection_n lie_v in_o these_o word_n why_o do_v he_o yet_o find_v fault_n for_o who_o have_v resist_v his_o will_n as_o if_o the_o apostle_n shall_v have_v say_v peradventure_o you_o house_n of_o israel_n may_v say_v to_o the_o lord_n for_o what_o cause_n do_v thou_o find_v fault_n with_o we_o who_o of_o we_o have_v resist_v thy_o will_n why_o will_v thou_o or_o for_o what_o cause_n will_v thou_o reject_v we_o but_o the_o apostle_n answer_v to_o they_o in_o order_n to_o clear_a god_n in_o his_o justice_n say_v verse_n 20._o nay_o but_o o_o man_n who_o be_v thou_o that_o reply_v a_o nation_n who_o once_o the_o lord_n love_v and_o call_v his_o peculiar_a people_n and_o yet_o may_v have_v mercy_n upon_o a_o small_a remnant_n of_o that_o lump_n or_o nation_n who_o do_v believe_v and_o be_v humble_a yield_v and_o penitent_a before_o the_o lord_n and_o thus_o the_o apostle_n clear_v up_o god_n justice_n and_o thus_o i_o pass_v to_o the_o next_o verse_n because_o those_o thing_n that_o may_v be_v offer_v as_o objection_n to_o some_o particular_n in_o this_o verse_n i_o have_v already_o answer_v in_o my_o precedent_a discourse_n in_o this_o treatise_n and_o also_o the_o necessity_n of_o my_o present_a occasion_n cause_v i_o to_o study_v brevity_n verse_n 22._o what_o if_o god_n willing_a to_o show_v his_o wrath_n and_o to_o make_v his_o power_n know_v endure_v with_o much_o long_a suffering_n the_o vessel_n of_o wrath_n fit_v to_o destruction_n annot._n in_o this_o verse_n we_o may_v understand_v the_o apostle_n show_v that_o god_n have_v be_v just_a if_o he_o have_v destroy_v the_o nation_n of_o the_o jew_n long_o before_o for_o their_o rebellion_n but_o for_o these_o two_o cause_n god_n do_v suffer_v long_o the_o first_o be_v because_o he_o will_v make_v his_o power_n and_o wrath_n appear_v the_o more_o severe_a towards_o that_o rebellious_a people_n for_o our_o admonition_n and_o forewarn_n unto_o we_o and_o second_o that_o he_o may_v make_v know_v his_o mercy_n in_o a_o more_o large_a manner_n and_o measure_n on_o that_o part_n of_o the_o house_n of_o israel_n who_o do_v believe_v and_o fear_v before_o the_o lord_n that_o they_o may_v say_v it_o be_v of_o his_o mercy_n that_o we_o be_v not_o consume_v obj._n but_o if_o it_o be_v object_v and_o say_v that_o the_o text_n say_v the_o vessel_n of_o wrath_n be_v fit_v to_o destruction_n answ_n to_o which_o i_o answer_v and_o say_v that_o as_o the_o receive_n and_o cherish_v of_o the_o gracious_a motion_n of_o god_n spirit_n it_o sit_v we_o or_o prepare_v we_o for_o glory_n even_o so_o the_o receive_n of_o the_o motion_n of_o sin_n and_o cherish_n of_o it_o fit_v we_o for_o destruction_n and_o thus_o one_o part_n of_o israel_n be_v fit_v for_o destruction_n by_o their_o receive_a sin_n and_o satan_n so_o as_o to_o be_v guide_v thereby_o and_o second_o so_o be_v the_o other_o part_n or_o remnant_n fit_v or_o prepare_v for_o glory_n through_o the_o receive_n the_o motion_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n and_o be_v guide_v thereby_o the_o which_o as_o it_o sit_v for_o glory_n so_o at_o last_o it_o bring_v we_o to_o glory_n and_o so_o i_o pass_v to_o the_o next_o verse_n which_o be_v as_o follow_v verse_n 23._o and_o that_o he_o may_v make_v know_v the_o riches_n of_o his_o glory_n on_o the_o vessel_n of_o mercy_n which_o he_o have_v before_o prepare_v unto_o glory_n annot._n i_o have_v open_v this_o verse_n before_o i_o shall_v pass_v it_o brief_o say_v that_o there_o be_v no_o soul_n that_o ever_o shall_v enjoy_v glory_n but_o such_o as_o be_v shall_v reign_v and_o govern_v it_o in_o righteousness_n these_o three_o thing_n i_o shall_v prove_v in_o order_n as_o god_n shall_v assist_v through_o who_o strength_n i_o can_v be_v very_o large_a and_o as_o it_o be_v prophesy_v that_o they_o will_v give_v he_o vinegar_n to_o drink_v it_o be_v so_o and_o as_o it_o be_v prophesy_v that_o one_o shall_v betray_v he_o for_o thirty_o piece_n of_o silver_n by_o which_o the_o potter_n field_n shall_v be_v buy_v it_o be_v so_o and_o as_o it_o be_v prophesy_v that_o they_o shall_v cast_v lot_n for_o his_o vesture_n it_o be_v so_o and_o that_o a_o man_n of_o god_n speak_v as_o they_o be_v move_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n hence_o we_o see_v the_o prophet_n word_n be_v of_o great_a weight_n and_o also_o take_v notice_n that_o all_o the_o prophet_n bare_a witness_n to_o the_o truth_n of_o what_o i_o have_v assert_v and_o this_o intervening_a discourse_n i_o think_v good_a to_o add_v to_o that_o end_n that_o the_o courteous_a reader_n
