sheep_n 2._o something_o that_o be_v express_v viz._n that_o all_o such_o who_o be_v his_o sheep_n hear_v his_o voice_n and_o do_v follow_v he_o you_o have_v in_o the_o word_n 1._o the_o property_n of_o christ_n sheep_n 2._o their_o security_n and_o happy_a state_n and_o condition_n 1._o their_o character_n or_o property_n viz._n they_o hear_v his_o voice_n and_o do_v follow_v he_o 2._o their_o security_n and_o happy_a state_n and_o condition_n 1._o he_o know_v they_o that_o be_v he_o approve_v of_o they_o 2._o he_o give_v to_o they_o eternal_a life_n 3._o they_o be_v in_o his_o hand_n and_o shall_v never_o perish_v our_o saviour_n in_o this_o chapter_n call_v himself_o the_o shepherd_n of_o the_o sheep_n yea_o the_o good_a shepherd_n ver._n 11._o i_o be_o the_o good_a shepherd_n the_o good_a shepherd_n give_v his_o life_n for_o the_o sheep_n now_o if_o it_o be_v demand_v who_o be_v the_o sheep_n of_o christ_n i_o answer_v all_z that_o the_o father_n have_v give_v to_o he_o and_o such_o thing_n that_o seem_v grievous_a to_o the_o flesh_n like_a as_o abraham_n when_o he_o be_v command_v 3._o to_o offer_v up_o his_o son_n his_o only_a son_n his_o only_a son_n isaac_n who_o he_o love_v go_v present_o about_o it_o he_o make_v no_o pause_n do_v not_o consult_v with_o flesh_n and_o blood_n and_o abraham_n rise_v up_o early_o in_o the_o morning_n etc._n etc._n with_o a_o worship_n both_o in_o doctrine_n discipline_n and_o conversation_n in_o all_o duty_n of_o religion_n both_o natural_a and_o supernatural_a whether_o towards_o god_n or_o towards_o men._n they_o be_v like_a unto_o joshua_n and_o caleb_n they_o follow_v christ_n full_o but_o my_o servant_n caleb_n because_o he_o have_v another_o spirit_n 24._o with_o he_o and_o have_v follow_v i_o full_o he_o will_v i_o bring_v into_o the_o good_a land_n and_o his_o seed_n shall_v possess_v it_o he_o follow_v god_n when_o other_o forsake_v he_o be_v not_o act_v by_o that_o evil_a spirit_n of_o cowardice_n follow_v christ_n in_o sincerity_n not_o for_o loaf_n etc._n etc._n 8._o they_o follow_v christ_n constant_o to_o the_o end_n and_o faint_v not_o we_o read_v of_o some_o that_o follow_v our_o bless_a saviour_n for_o some_o time_n but_o then_o they_o be_v offend_v at_o his_o doctrine_n from_o that_o time_n many_o 66._o of_o his_o disciple_n go_v back_o and_o walk_v no_o more_o with_o he_o this_o show_v they_o be_v not_o his_o sheep_n or_o disciple_n indeed_o for_o these_o return_v no_o more_o they_o it_o be_v evident_a draw_v back_o to_o perdition_n a_o godly_a man_n may_v under_o a_o temptation_n seem_v to_o faint_v and_o draw_v back_o as_o peter_n do_v but_o he_o return_v by_o repentance_n and_o follow_v christ_n again_o we_o be_v not_o say_v paul_n of_o they_o who_o draw_v back_o unto_o perdition_n but_o 39_o of_o they_o that_o believe_v to_o the_o save_n of_o the_o soul_n the_o sheep_n of_o christ_n hold_v on_o their_o way_n they_o have_v clean_a hand_n grow_v strong_a and_o strong_a they_o can_v never_o perish_v therefore_o shall_v follow_v christ_n always_o or_o persevere_v in_o well-doing_n to_o the_o end_n of_o their_o day_n the_o good_a ground_n bring_v forth_o fruit_n unto_o eternal_a life_n such_o who_o fall_v away_o be_v not_o sincere_a and_o honest-hearted_a one_o but_o be_v either_o like_o 13._o the_o stony_a or_o thorny_a ground_n hearer_n five_o christ_n sheep_n have_v his_o character_n by_o which_o they_o be_v know_v 4._o man_n mark_v their_o sheep_n so_o we_o read_v in_o the_o revelation_n that_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n be_v seal_v liberty_n or_o bond_n peace_n or_o trouble_n honour_n or_o disgrace_n strength_n or_o weakness_n either_o a_o fat_a or_o a_o lean_a pasture_n loss_n or_o gain_n cold_a or_o heat_n whether_o a_o north_n or_o a_o south_n wind._n 3._o he_o be_v wise_a to_o protect_v we_o wise_a to_o conduct_v we_o to_o feed_v we_o wise_a to_o fold_v we_o wise_a to_o heal_v we_o and_o wise_a to_o save_v we_o sixthly_a christ_n be_v the_o chief_a and_o great_a shepherd_n of_o the_o sheep_n and_o when_o the_o chief_a shepherd_n shall_v appear_v you_o shall_v receive_v a_o crown_n of_o shepherd_n glory_n and_o again_o the_o holy_a ghost_n call_v he_o in_o another_o place_n the_o great_a shepherd_n now_o the_o god_n of_o peace_n that_o bring_v from_o the_o 20._o dead_a our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n that_o great_a shepherd_n of_o the_o sheep_n etc._n etc._n jesus_n christ_n may_v be_v call_v the_o chief_a and_o great_a shepherd_n 1._o because_o he_o enter_v into_o covenant_n with_o the_o father_n as_o the_o great_a surety_n of_o all_o the_o sheep_n by_o which_o he_o come_v under_o a_o legal_a obligation_n to_o pay_v the_o just_a debt_n and_o to_o answer_v for_o the_o default_n of_o all_o his_o elect_n and_o then_o and_o thereby_o he_o undertake_v to_o bring_v in_o and_o gather_v all_o the_o sheep_n to_o god_n by_o the_o blood_n of_o the_o everlasting_a covenant_n by_o which_o transaction_n he_o make_v our_o peace_n and_o reconcile_v 20._o we_o unto_o the_o father_n 2._o because_o he_o actual_o buy_v all_o the_o sheep_n in_o pursuit_n of_o the_o say_v glorious_a covenant-transaction_n by_o the_o price_n of_o his_o own_o blood_n that_o so_o he_o may_v unite_v they_o all_o unto_o himself_o in_o one_o body_n 28._o 3._o he_o may_v be_v call_v the_o chief_a and_o great_a shepherd_n because_o all_o the_o sheep_n or_o elect_a of_o god_n be_v give_v into_o his_o hand_n to_o keep_v take_v care_n of_o feed_v heel_n protect_v and_o preserve_v to_o eternal_a life_n and_o this_o great_a work_n and_o office_n he_o have_v undertake_v and_o do_v and_o will_v perform_v with_o all_o faithfulness_n be_v every_o way_n fit_v endear_a and_o qualify_v as_o mediator_n and_o universal_a shepherd_n and_o head_n to_o discharge_v it_o 4._o because_o it_o be_v he_o that_o call_v they_o that_o justify_v they_o that_o sanctify_v they_o and_o present_v they_o all_o faultless_a and_o without_o spot_n before_o the_o father_n 5._o because_o he_o be_v exalt_v in_o glory_n and_o dignity_n not_o only_o as_o the_o head_n lord_n and_o sovereign_n of_o all_o the_o sheep_n but_o also_o as_o the_o prince_n of_o all_o pastor_n and_o subordinate_a shepherd_n that_o ever_o be_v be_v or_o shall_v be_v from_o who_o they_o all_o receive_v their_o power_n and_o authority_n as_o his_o deputy_n to_o take_v care_n of_o and_o watch_n over_o each_o part_n and_o parcel_n of_o his_o flock_n commit_v to_o their_o respective_a charge_n jesus_n christ_n be_v not_o only_o above_o all_o shepherd_n all_o minister_n but_o they_o do_v all_o in_o his_o name_n and_o must_v at_o the_o last_o day_n be_v accountable_a to_o he_o for_o their_o administration_n 6._o he_o be_v the_o great_a shepherd_n of_o the_o sheep_n a_o mighty_a shepherd_n if_o we_o consider_v the_o greatness_n of_o the_o flock_n which_o he_o have_v not_o only_o receive_v the_o care_n and_o charge_n of_o but_o they_o be_v all_o his_o own_o sheep_n if_o a_o shepherd_n have_v under_o his_o care_n 100000_o sheep_n and_o all_o his_o own_o will_v not_o every_o body_n call_v he_o a_o great_a shepherd_n now_o though_o christ_n flock_n be_v call_v a_o little_a flock_n comparative_o yet_o the_o number_n of_o all_o his_o sheep_n all_o his_o elect_n be_v very_o great_a we_o read_v of_o ten_o thousand_o of_o his_o saint_n and_o a_o number_n that_o no_o man_n can_v number_v they_o be_v all_o he_o and_o therefore_o a_o great_a shepherd_n 7._o he_o be_v great_a in_o riches_n have_v a_o multitude_n of_o rich_a and_o choice_a pastor_n enough_o to_o feed_v million_o of_o sheep_n here_o on_o earth_n and_o though_o his_o flock_n will_v increase_v ever_o long_o when_o the_o fullness_n of_o the_o gentile_n shall_v come_v in_o and_o his_o ancient_a flock_n i_o mean_v the_o seed_n of_o abraham_n now_o scatter_v be_v gather_v and_o all_o bring_v into_o one_o fold_n yet_o he_o have_v pasture_n for_o they_o all_o moreover_o he_o have_v prepare_v a_o glorious_a and_o rich_a fold_n for_o they_o above_o which_o be_v heaven_n itself_o that_o be_v the_o fold_n into_o which_o all_o his_o flock_n shall_v be_v put_v for_o ever_o and_o ever_o 8._o last_o he_o be_v great_a in_o power_n no_o shepherd_n have_v such_o power_n to_o defend_v protect_v preserve_v and_o save_v his_o flock_n like_a to_o he_o none_o be_v able_a to_o pluck_v one_o sheep_n out_o of_o his_o hand_n as_o i_o shall_v prove_v and_o demonstrate_v when_o i_o come_v to_o speak_v to_o the_o next_o part_n of_o my_o text._n another_o shepherd_n for_o want_v of_o power_n may_v lose_v his_o sheep_n the_o wolf_n or_o lion_n may_v come_v and_o tear_v they_o in_o piece_n and_o rob_v he_o of_o they_o but_o no_o enemy_n neither_o sin_n nor_o satan_n nor_o the_o world_n can_v rend_v his_o sheep_n from_o he_o he_o have_v power_n over_o all_o adversary_n and_o can_v subdue_v they_o with_o much_o case_n at_o his_o pleasure_n therefore_o
