therefore_o he_o conclude_v in_o this_o psalm_n the_o whole_a matter_n which_o he_o take_v in_o hand_n to_o entreat_v of_o as_o we_o also_o do_v when_o in_o the_o end_n of_o our_o preach_n we_o pray_v that_o god_n will_v preserve_v his_o word_n among_o we_o and_o that_o we_o may_v continue_v in_o the_o same_o unto_o the_o end_n for_o when_o the_o word_n be_v pure_o teach_v all_o thing_n be_v safe_a holy_a &_o pure_a although_o the_o gate_n of_o hell_n rage_n against_o we_o never_o so_o much_o and_o we_o lose_v not_o only_o our_o good_n but_o also_o our_o life_n for_o what_o harm_n have_v we_o thereby_o so_o that_o our_o soul_n may_v be_v save_v it_o be_v the_o word_n therefore_o alone_o that_o preserve_v all_o good_a thing_n but_o if_o that_o be_v lose_v or_o corrupt_v than_o all_o good_a thing_n be_v lose_v for_o like_v as_o if_o the_o sun_n and_o light_n of_o the_o world_n shall_v be_v take_v away_o he_o that_o walk_v walk_v in_o darkness_n so_o if_o the_o word_n be_v darken_v and_o corrupt_v in_o what_o misery_n and_o danger_n be_v the_o common_a wealth_n for_o than_o neither_o magistrate_n nor_o subject_n nor_o servant_n know_v what_o he_o ought_v to_o do_v but_o all_o thing_n be_v wrap_v up_o in_o error_n and_o horrible_a darkness_n wherefore_o this_o psalm_n exhort_v we_o to_o pray_v that_o the_o lord_n will_v preserve_v and_o continue_v his_o word_n amongst_o we_o and_o every_o one_o of_o we_o to_o endeavour_n with_o this_o service_n to_o help_v the_o church_n for_o although_o the_o church_n be_v never_o without_o heretic_n like_v as_o also_o the_o common_a wealth_n be_v never_o without_o seditious_a person_n yet_o so_o long_o as_o the_o word_n remain_v find_v and_o uncorrupt_a it_o can_v not_o be_v but_o that_o many_o good_a thing_n and_o many_o good_a man_n also_o will_v remain_v i_o take_v this_o psalm_n therefore_o to_o be_v as_o a_o conclusion_n of_o those_o thing_n which_o be_v speak_v of_o before_o before_o in_o that_o which_o he_o exhort_v we_o to_o give_v thank_n unto_o the_o lord_n for_o the_o benefit_n of_o his_o word_n and_o to_o pray_v for_o the_o preservation_n and_o continuance_n thereof_o for_o as_o much_o as_o if_o it_o flourish_v there_o will_v always_o be_v find_v some_o good_a man_n which_o will_v lead_v a_o godly_a and_o a_o holy_a life_n therefore_o he_o say_v verse_n 1._o behold_v praise_v you_o the_o lord_n all_o you_o of_o the_o church_n yet_o general_o it_o comprehend_v all_o those_o which_o profess_v and_o embrace_v the_o true_a and_o sincere_a doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n for_o it_o be_v the_o duty_n even_o of_o those_o which_o be_v not_o in_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n to_o confess_v the_o word_n &_o to_o acknowledge_v and_o praise_v the_o benefit_n of_o god_n wherefore_o with_o one_o heart_n and_o mind_n say_v he_o join_v you_o all_o together_o continue_v in_o the_o word_n confess_v preach_v praise_n and_o magnify_v the_o word_n that_o while_o all_o the_o world_n befid_v dishonour_v &_o blaspheme_v god_n you_o may_v bless_v he_o because_o he_o be_v merciful_a then_o shall_v it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o you_o shall_v overcome_v all_o your_o enemy_n though_o you_o be_v to_o they_o that_o be_v to_o say_v continual_o as_o he_o say_v also_o in_o a_o other_o psalm_n from_o the_o morning_n watch_v even_o until_o the_o night_n 3.16_o paul_n express_v this_o sentence_n with_o other_o word_n let_v the_o word_n of_o christ_n dwell_v in_o you_o plenteous_o say_v he_o and_o our_o saviour_n christ_n teach_v 18.1_o that_o we_o must_v pray_v always_o for_o whereas_o the_o night_n they_o wise_o again_o for_o their_o part_n will_v consider_v what_o they_o have_v to_o do_v that_o be_v to_o take_v the_o time_n before_o they_o &_o not_o to_o refuse_v the_o riches_n of_o god_n reject_v the_o burn_a offering_n and_o other_o sacrifice_n of_o the_o la_o do_v commend_v above_o all_o other_o the_o sacrifice_n of_o praise_n in_o like_a manner_n also_o ought_v we_o so_o much_o the_o more_o earnest_o &_o diligent_o to_o set_v forth_o this_o kind_n of_o worship_n because_o that_o after_o so_o great_a blindness_n wherein_o w_n have_v live_v the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n have_v because_o of_o the_o continual_a vexation_n and_o assault_n of_o satan_n that_o as_o we_o be_v never_o without_o occasion_n of_o decline_a &_o fall_v from_o god_n so_o likewise_o we_o shall_v not_o cease_v to_o exercise_v ourselves_o in_o the_o continual_a meditation_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o the_o edify_a both_o of_o ourselves_o and_o of_o the_o church_n for_o there_o be_v nothing_o so_o pernicious_a as_o the_o opinion_n of_o many_o at_o this_o day_n who_o as_o soon_o as_o they_o have_v get_v never_o so_o little_a knowledge_n of_o this_o heavenly_a wisdom_n think_v themselves_o by_o and_o by_o to_o be_v great_a doctor_n for_o see_v that_o these_o thing_n do_v not_o consist_v in_o fine_a and_o eloquent_a talk_n in_o reason_v and_o dispute_v but_o in_o practice_n and_o experience_n direct_v not_o by_o man_n reason_n but_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n they_o be_v miserable_o deceive_v that_o rest_n in_o bare_a and_o naked_a knowledge_n which_o be_v but_o unprofitable_a without_o experience_n and_o practice_v in_o the_o old_a testament_n god_n appoint_v but_o only_o the_o ten_o commandment_n wherein_o he_o will_v have_v his_o people_n to_o be_v exercise_v and_o occupy_v but_o who_o be_v there_o ever_o among_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n which_o can_v say_v that_o he_o be_v able_a to_o attain_v to_o the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n set_v forth_o in_o those_o commandment_n and_o shall_v we_o which_o in_o the_o new_a testament_n have_v the_o whole_a scripture_n set_v forth_o unto_o we_o glory_n in_o the_o fullness_n and_o perfection_n of_o our_o knowledge_n let_v we_o not_o think_v therefore_o so_o high_o of_o ourselves_o but_o let_v we_o humble_v ourselves_o before_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o confess_v this_o wisdom_n to_o be_v infinite_a and_o such_o as_o we_o can_v never_o full_o attain_v unto_o although_o we_o shall_v spend_v our_o whole_a life_n in_o the_o study_n of_o the_o scripture_n for_o although_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n we_o be_v not_o without_o some_o knowledge_n yet_o because_o we_o be_v continual_o oppress_v with_o cloud_n of_o tentation_n we_o must_v have_v recourse_n to_o this_o fountain_n yea_o to_o this_o fire_n that_o our_o heart_n may_v be_v kindle_v therewith_o and_o that_o we_o may_v give_v no_o place_n to_o satan_n or_o our_o own_o flesh_n whereby_o the_o first_o fruit_n of_o the_o spirit_n may_v be_v quench_v in_o we_o this_o loathe_n of_o god_n word_n which_o rise_v of_o a_o false_a opinion_n of_o knowledge_n be_v alas_o to_o common_a at_o this_o day_n word_n for_o a_o remedy_n therefore_o against_o this_o evil_a moses_n command_v that_o the_o la_o of_o god_n shall_v be_v diligent_o set_v forth_o to_o the_o posterity_n that_o be_v to_o say_v shall_v continual_o be_v teach_v and_o exercise_v though_o it_o be_v never_o so_o well_o know_v before_o for_o this_o cause_n therefore_o i_o have_v take_v in_o hand_n to_o expound_v the_o psalm_n that_o we_o may_v learn_v and_o practice_v of_o the_o same_o but_o the_o chief_a cause_n that_o move_v i_o hereunto_o be_v for_o that_o we_o know_v this_o kind_n of_o worship_n above_o all_o other_o to_o please_v god_n when_o we_o set_v forth_o his_o word_n in_o teach_v in_o read_v in_o writing_n in_o hear_v etc_n etc_n and_o this_o one_o thing_n ought_v to_o keep_v we_o in_o the_o continual_a exercise_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n for_o to_o teach_v to_o exercise_v and_o to_o set_v forth_o the_o word_n what_o be_v it_o else_o but_o continual_o to_o offer_v sacrifice_n unto_o god_n continual_o to_o worship_v god_n continual_o to_o be_v exercise_v in_o the_o three_o first_o commandment_n lamentable_a it_o be_v to_o see_v what_o a_o multitude_n there_o be_v of_o such_o as_o continual_o blaspheme_v god_n either_o in_o teach_v false_a doctrine_n or_o in_o persecute_v the_o truth_n wherefore_o very_o necessary_a it_o be_v that_o we_o which_o in_o comparison_n of_o they_o be_v so_o small_a a_o number_n shall_v upon_o we_o thus_o david_n under_o these_o word_n the_o house_n of_o the_o lord_n comprehend_v god_n himself_o his_o name_n and_o his_o word_n whereunto_o the_o sabbath_n be_v dedicate_v in_o the_o together_o that_o they_o shall_v rejoice_v before_o the_o lord_n they_o shall_v praise_v and_o magnify_v his_o name_n for_o his_o benefit_n and_o great_a mercy_n so_o plentiful_o pour_v upon_o they_o and_o to_o this_o david_n also_o provoke_v we_o by_o his_o own_o example_n that_o with_o reverence_n and_o as_o it_o be_v with_o a_o admiration_n we_o shall_v exult_v and_o rejoice_v before_o the_o lord_n verse_n 2._o our_o foot_n shall_v stand_v in_o thy_o gate_n oh_o jerusalem_n the_o prophet_n david_n recite_v here_o the_o common_a voice_n of_o the_o godly_a that_o they_o will_v now_o abide_v &_o steadfast_o persevere_v in_o the_o house_n of_o the_o lord_n which_o he_o have_v appoint_v in_o jerusalem_n and_o will_v not_o wander_v any_o more_o from_o place_n to_o place_n as_o they_o have_v do_v because_o the_o lord_n have_v there_o establish_v his_o sanctuary_n which_o before_o be_v often_o time_n remove_v &_o have_v no_o ceraine_a rest_a place_n this_o stablish_n and_o continue_v of_o the_o sanctuary_n in_o one_o certain_a place_n prevail_v much_o for_o the_o confirmation_n of_o their_o faith_n for_o like_v as_o when_o the_o ark_n be_v carry_v from_o place_n to_o place_n their_o faith_n be_v always_o waver_v and_o unsteadfast_a even_o so_o after_o that_o god_n have_v choose_v unto_o himself_o a_o certain_a habitation_n he_o give_v thereby_o unto_o they_o a_o more_o sure_a &_o manifest_a testimony_n that_o he_o will_v be_v their_o everlasting_a defender_n and_o protector_n whereby_o their_o faith_n be_v establish_v and_o confirm_v for_o ever_o it_o be_v no_o marvel_n then_o that_o the_o people_n with_o such_o great_a rejoice_a and_o thankfulness_n unto_o god_n do_v promise_n that_o their_o foot_n shall_v now_o stand_v sure_a and_o steadfast_a in_o the_o gate_n of_o jerusalem_n which_o be_v wont_a to_o run_v hither_o &_o thither_o truth_n it_o be_v that_o the_o ark_n do_v long_o continue_v in_o silo._n but_o because_o the_o lord_n have_v make_v no_o promise_n concern_v that_o place_n there_o can_v be_v no_o stability_n of_o faith_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o people_n 13â—_n and_o again_o because_o it_o be_v say_v of_o the_o mount_n zion_n this_o be_v my_o rest_n for_o ever_o here_o will_v i_o dwell_v for_o i_o have_v delight_n therein_o the_o faithful_a be_v sure_o ground_v upon_o this_o word_n be_v bold_a to_o say_v that_o their_o foot_n shall_v never_o remove_v again_o but_o stand_v steadfast_a &_o sure_a in_o the_o gate_n of_o jerusalem_n and_o in_o the_o house_n of_o the_o lord_n for_o this_o stand_n signify_v a_o constant_a &_o a_o amongst_o we_o we_o have_v a_o far_o great_a cause_n to_o rejoice_v then_o the_o israelite_n have_v wherefore_o we_o may_v seem_v unthankful_a yea_o blockish_a and_o senseless_a if_o this_o promise_n i_o be_o with_o you_o unto_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n do_v not_o stir_v up_o our_o heart_n to_o great_a joy_n and_o gladness_n especial_o if_o we_o see_v it_o thankful_o and_o with_o public_a consent_n receive_v of_o the_o people_n for_o that_o which_o we_o rehearse_v even_o now_o concern_v the_o rest_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v altogether_o fulfil_v in_o the_o person_n of_o christ_n as_o it_o appear_v in_o the_o 2._o chapter_n of_o isaiah_n his_o rest_n say_v he_o shall_v be_v glorious_a where_o he_o speak_v not_o of_o the_o burial_n of_o christ_n as_o some_o do_v fond_o imagine_v but_o of_o the_o excellency_n and_o dignity_n of_o the_o church_n which_o shall_v afterward_o follow_v the_o glory_n and_o beauty_n whereof_o since_o by_o the_o great_a mercy_n of_o god_n we_o have_v see_v let_v we_o be_v thankful_a therefore_o and_o beseech_v he_o that_o he_o will_v make_v perfect_a that_o he_o have_v begin_v in_o we_o that_o our_o foot_n may_v always_o be_v stand_v in_o the_o of_o they_o both_o this_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o there_o be_v such_o a_o multitude_n of_o false_a prophet_n rebel_n &_o seditious_a person_n amongst_o this_o people_n as_o the_o story_n do_v testify_v wherefore_o david_n be_v teach_v by_o his_o own_o experience_n pray_v for_o these_o 2._o thing_n without_o the_o which_o the_o world_n be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o wild_a desert_n example_n hereof_o may_v be_v unto_o we_o the_o late_a time_n wherein_o we_o live_v under_o the_o pope_n before_o this_o light_n of_o the_o gospel_n begin_v to_o shine_v for_o then_o when_o the_o or_o that_o thou_o be_v a_o woman_n but_o presumption_n he_o abhor_v and_o will_v not_o have_v thou_o to_o begin_v this_o kind_n of_o life_n trust_v in_o thine_o own_o policy_n but_o rather_o that_o thou_o shall_v suspect_v the_o same_o know_v that_o god_n will_v not_o prosper_v thy_o do_n and_o policy_n except_o thou_o ask_v counsel_n of_o he_o therefore_o say_v he_o bless_a be_v the_o man_n that_o fear_v the_o lord_n for_o we_o have_v daily_a example_n before_o our_o eye_n that_o at_o the_o beginning_n there_o be_v often_o time_n vehement_a and_o fervent_a love_n between_o man_n and_o wife_n which_o afterward_o be_v easy_o quench_v so_o that_o either_o they_o live_v miserable_o and_o unquiet_o together_o or_o else_o the_o one_o forsake_v the_o other_o some_o time_n they_o be_v so_o drown_v in_o wealth_n and_o pleasure_n that_o they_o live_v all_o together_o without_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n and_o this_o be_v a_o far_o great_a misery_n but_o worthy_o do_v these_o misery_n and_o calamity_n fall_v upon_o they_o for_o why_o do_v they_o not_o join_v withal_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n here_o thou_o must_v learn_v therefore_o to_o live_v in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n who_o have_v create_v thou_o that_o thou_o shall_v be_v a_o husband_n or_o that_o thou_o shall_v be_v a_o wife_n and_o he_o will_v also_o govern_v bless_v and_o prosper_v thy_o marriage_n but_o if_o thou_o will_v not_o acknowledge_v he_o to_o be_v thy_o governor_n but_o will_v rule_v thy_o wife_n and_o thy_o family_n after_o thine_o own_o fantasy_n without_o invocation_n and_o prayer_n unto_o god_n it_o will_v follow_v that_o either_o thou_o shall_v overthrow_v all_o together_o or_o shall_v be_v so_o blind_v with_o continual_a success_n that_o thou_o shall_v fall_v yet_o into_o far_o great_a evil_n god_n will_v be_v fear_v and_o serve_v that_o be_v he_o will_v have_v we_o to_o confess_v and_o acknowledge_v that_o what_o so_o ever_o we_o take_v in_o hand_n can_v not_o prosper_v or_o have_v any_o good_a success_n without_o his_o help_n and_o assistance_n it_o be_v very_o profitable_a and_o necessary_a with_o all_o diligence_n to_o teach_v this_o doctrine_n to_o those_o which_o be_v yet_o young_a that_o they_o may_v know_v it_o and_o follow_v it_o the_o cause_n be_v this_o for_o that_o matrimony_n remain_v in_o the_o world_n and_o in_o the_o flesh_n that_o be_v to_o say_v even_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o devil_n the_o husband_n as_o touch_v the_o flesh_n soon_o loathe_v or_o hate_v the_o wife_n or_o the_o wife_n her_o husband_n what_o be_v the_o cause_n hereof_o even_o this_o be_v the_o cause_n for_o that_o matrimony_n consist_v in_o the_o flesh_n which_o be_v whole_o corrupt_a &_o poison_a with_o sin_n this_o the_o flesh_n i_o mean_v satan_n inflame_v with_o hatred_n and_o every_o light_a offence_n or_o else_o with_o jealousy_n wherefore_o if_o thou_o look_v not_o unto_o the_o will_n of_o god_n thy_o matrimony_n can_v never_o be_v unto_o thou_o either_o stable_n or_o comfortable_a wherefore_o youth_n must_v be_v well_o instruct_v as_o touch_v matrimony_n that_o when_o any_o man_n shall_v marry_v a_o wife_n he_o may_v live_v with_o she_o in_o the_o favour_n and_o blessing_n of_o god_n and_o say_v lord_n this_o be_v thy_o gift_n that_o i_o be_o a_o man_n this_o wife_n also_o be_v thy_o gift_n we_o be_v in_o the_o world_n and_o this_o frail_a flesh_n and_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o devil_n the_o disturber_n of_o matrimonial_a love_n give_v unto_o we_o therefore_o thy_o blessing_n that_o albeit_o some_o offence_n do_v rise_v between_o we_o yet_o thy_o blessing_n and_o the_o reverend_a consideration_n of_o thy_o gift_n wherewith_o thou_o have_v endue_v we_o in_o this_o our_o matrimony_n may_v vanquish_v and_o overcome_v the_o same_o etc_n etc_n this_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o he_o begin_v this_o verse_n with_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n that_o he_o may_v take_v from_o we_o all_o presumption_n lest_o we_o shall_v think_v that_o we_o shall_v have_v and_o enjoy_v all_o thing_n as_o we_o ourselves_o have_v imagine_v for_o so_o shall_v it_o not_o be_v or_o if_o it_o so_o come_v to_o pass_v it_o shall_v not_o be_v
wherefore_o these_o high_a commendation_n of_o matrimony_n be_v here_o set_v against_o the_o venomous_a tongue_n both_o of_o satan_n and_o of_o wicked_a man_n wherewith_o they_o do_v so_o malicious_o slander_v this_o kind_n of_o life_n also_o against_o the_o corrupt_a &_o perverse_a judgement_n of_o the_o flesh_n whereby_o we_o be_v provoke_v either_o to_o a_o loathe_n &_o contemn_v of_o this_o kind_n of_o life_n or_o else_o to_o impatiency_n when_o our_o eye_n be_v blind_v in_o discern_v and_o judge_v the_o benefit_n and_o commodity_n thereof_o and_o be_v still_o in_o behold_v of_o the_o fault_n the_o incommodity_n or_o trouble_n that_o belong_v to_o the_o same_o thus_o the_o wise_a sort_n even_o amongst_o the_o gentile_n will_v not_o do_v for_o they_o do_v see_v that_o there_o be_v a_o natural_a affection_n in_o the_o man_n and_o the_o wife_n towards_o their_o child_n and_o a_o mutual_a love_n &_o faithfulness_n between_o themselves_o &_o both_o these_o thing_n they_o praise_v and_o set_v forth_o with_o great_a commendation_n so_o god_n by_o the_o small_a number_n of_o the_o wise_a sort_n even_o among_o the_o gentile_n do_v overcome_v the_o multitude_n of_o these_o viperous_a tongue_n which_o be_v so_o venomous_a &_o spiteful_a against_o this_o kind_n of_o life_n how_o much_o more_o than_o ought_v we_o to_o defend_v matrimony_n we_o i_o say_v who_o the_o holy_a ghost_n move_v &_o stir_v up_o so_o to_o do_v by_o these_o excellent_a similitude_n whereby_o he_o show_v that_o god_n be_v so_o delight_v with_o the_o life_n of_o marry_a folk_n that_o not_o only_o he_o give_v his_o blessing_n for_o the_o sustentation_n of_o this_o life_n but_o also_o the_o blessing_n of_o the_o belly_n and_o of_o the_o breast_n as_o moses_n call_v it_o this_o no_o doubt_n will_v not_o god_n do_v if_o he_o hate_v such_o as_o be_v marry_v for_o he_o say_v unto_o adam_n all_o that_o grow_v upon_o the_o earth_n shall_v be_v unto_o thou_o for_o food_n and_o sustenance_n after_o the_o flood_n also_o he_o give_v unto_o man_n the_o use_n of_o clean_a beast_n yea_o he_o give_v unto_o matrimony_n what_o treasure_n and_o riches_n so_o ever_o be_v in_o the_o world_n and_o what_o so_o ever_o in_o nature_n be_v contain_v all_o these_o be_v lively_a testimony_n that_o god_n approve_v like_v and_o love_v this_o kind_n of_o life_n although_o the_o holy_a scripture_n shall_v speak_v nothing_o thereof_o at_o all_o moreover_o who_o see_v not_o that_o the_o propagation_n of_o man_n and_o woman_n kind_n be_v ordain_v of_o god_n let_v we_o therefore_o be_v mindful_a of_o these_o similitude_n &_o therewith_o arm_v ourselves_o against_o the_o wicked_a &_o perverse_a judgement_n of_o reason_n against_o the_o devil_n &_o venomous_a tongue_n which_o magnify_v and_o ertoll_n vanity_n and_o abominable_a filthiness_n and_o these_o inestimable_a gift_n they_o most_o wicked_o dispraise_v and_o despise_v verse_n 4._o lo_o thus_o shall_v the_o man_n be_v bless_v that_o fear_v the_o lord_n hitherto_o we_o have_v hear_v those_o excellent_a commendation_n of_o matrimony_n which_o the_o holy_a ghost_n set_v forth_o to_o confirm_v and_o comfort_v such_o as_o be_v appoint_v to_o this_o kind_n of_o life_n that_o they_o may_v patient_o suffer_v the_o incommodity_n the_o trouble_n and_o tentation_n of_o matrimony_n and_o not_o follow_v the_o judgement_n of_o the_o world_n which_o like_v unto_o the_o mule_n and_o the_o ass_n follow_v the_o fence_n of_o the_o flesh_n and_o be_v overcome_v with_o these_o trouble_n and_o tentation_n the_o good_a gift_n of_o god_n it_o understand_v not_o but_o some_o time_n it_o detest_v and_o abhor_v they_o for_o you_o shall_v find_v many_o to_o who_o it_o seem_v a_o great_a misery_n to_o have_v many_o child_n as_o though_o matrimony_n be_v ordain_v for_o beastly_a pleasure_n only_o and_o not_o to_o this_o end_n rather_o that_o we_o may_v do_v acceptable_a service_n both_o to_o god_n and_o man_n in_o nourish_v and_o bring_v up_o of_o child_n these_o man_n be_v ignorant_a of_o that_o which_o be_v most_o comfortable_a in_o matrimony_n for_o what_o be_v to_o be_v compare_v unto_o the_o love_n of_o parent_n towards_o their_o child_n especial_o since_o here_o thou_o see_v that_o child_n be_v the_o great_a portion_n of_o god_n blessing_n but_o here_o again_o we_o have_v need_n of_o faith_n for_o the_o world_n take_v it_o not_o for_o a_o blessing_n when_o a_o man_n get_v his_o live_n by_o labour_n &_o travail_n suffer_v the_o trouble_n and_o vexation_n of_o his_o wife_n his_o child_n his_o servant_n and_o such_o like_a whereof_o in_o matrimony_n there_o be_v many_o these_o thing_n i_o say_v the_o world_n esteem_v not_o as_o blessing_n but_o abhor_v they_o as_o malediction_n but_o the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o confirm_v the_o mind_n of_o the_o godly_a commend_v and_o set_v forth_o all_o that_o he_o have_v hitherto_o say_v by_o this_o sweet_a and_o comfortable_a name_n and_o call_v they_o blessing_n to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v stir_v we_o up_o to_o know_v god_n and_o his_o gift_n right_o lest_o that_o in_o the_o mid_n of_o his_o benefit_n and_o blessing_n we_o shall_v fall_v to_o a_o loathe_n thereof_o as_o the_o world_n be_v wont_a to_o do_v which_o regard_v not_o those_o thing_n which_o it_o have_v &_o present_o enjoy_v but_o desire_v the_o thing_n which_o it_o have_v not_o wherefore_o this_o vehement_a kind_n of_o speech_n be_v diligent_o to_o be_v note_v in_o that_o he_o call_v this_o life_n bless_v and_o happy_a which_o to_o the_o judgement_n of_o reason_n be_v miserable_a and_o full_a of_o calamity_n when_o he_o say_v loe_o thus_o shall_v the_o man_n be_v bless_v etc_n etc_n what_o can_v thou_o desire_v more_o in_o that_o thou_o have_v a_o wife_n and_o child_n and_o live_v with_o the_o labour_n of_o thy_o hand_n it_o be_v in_o deed_n the_o blessing_n of_o god_n wherefore_o thou_o have_v not_o only_o great_a cause_n not_o to_o be_v offend_v but_o also_o to_o give_v god_n thanks_n for_o his_o great_a blessing_n but_o how_o few_o be_v there_o to_o be_v find_v which_o do_v believe_v this_o and_o if_o any_o do_v believe_v it_o yet_o through_o infirmity_n they_o be_v lead_v away_o from_o this_o faith_n and_o forget_v the_o blessing_n they_o become_v unpatient_a as_o if_o they_o be_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o god_n malediction_n it_o be_v therefore_o to_o be_v wish_v that_o this_o say_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n as_o a_o singular_a consolation_n may_v be_v always_o before_o the_o eye_n and_o in_o the_o ear_n of_o the_o godly_a for_o how_o shall_v we_o find_v a_o more_o manifest_a argument_n that_o the_o life_n of_o such_o as_o be_v marry_v please_v god_n they_o this_o that_o their_o whole_a life_n be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o blessing_n in_o deed_n it_o so_o come_v to_o pass_v often_o time_n that_o they_o be_v vex_v with_o the_o sin_n of_o impatiency_n through_o the_o offence_n of_o their_o family_n their_o child_n and_o some_o time_n their_o neighbour_n but_o what_o then_o all_o thing_n can_v be_v so_o pure_a and_o so_o perfect_a in_o this_o our_o infirmity_n but_o that_o oftentimes_o we_o shall_v feel_v either_o some_o excess_n or_o some_o lack_n both_o within_o the_o house_n and_o without_o but_o this_o sin_n of_o impatiency_n the_o daily_a prayer_n of_o the_o godly_a do_v quench_v &_o overcome_v and_o thus_o must_v the_o godly_a comfort_n themselves_o that_o they_o be_v place_v among_o god_n blessing_n and_o live_v a_o life_n bless_v of_o god_n this_o faith_n the_o great_a and_o strong_a it_o be_v the_o more_o joy_n it_o bring_v for_o albeit_o some_o trouble_n do_v happen_v &_o we_o some_o time_n also_o be_v overtake_v with_o sin_n yet_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n omnipotent_a wherefore_o in_o all_o tentation_n the_o victory_n be_v they_o which_o stick_v faithful_o thereunto_o these_o word_n therefore_o must_v be_v receive_v as_o the_o oracle_n of_o god_n and_o this_o kind_n of_o life_n we_o must_v adorn_v with_o due_a praise_n and_o honour_n since_o that_o god_n do_v so_o rich_o pour_v out_o his_o blessing_n upon_o it_o this_o must_v we_o not_o only_o know_v that_o we_o may_v set_v it_o forth_o and_o commend_v it_o to_o other_o but_o all_o of_o we_o which_o live_v in_o this_o kind_n of_o call_v must_v commend_v and_o apply_v the_o same_o also_o unto_o ourselves_o that_o whether_o poverty_n disease_n vexation_n &_o trouble_n of_o our_o family_n or_o any_o other_o like_o tentation_n do_v oppress_v we_o we_o may_v endure_v the_o same_o with_o patience_n rest_v upon_o this_o most_o plentiful_a consolation_n that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n call_v this_o state_n a_o bless_a kind_n of_o life_n and_o this_o they_o find_v this_o they_o know_v and_o this_o they_o do_v which_o fear_n god_n and_o serve_v he_o true_o as_o he_o say_v so_o shall_v the_o
man_n be_v bless_v that_o fear_v the_o lord_n for_o the_o true_a service_n of_o god_n be_v to_o fear_n god_n to_o trust_v in_o god_n and_o to_o have_v thy_o whole_a affiance_n fix_v in_o he_o upon_o these_o godly_a motion_n of_o the_o mind_n afterward_o follow_v obedience_n in_o our_o vocation_n and_o other_o thing_n which_o be_v command_v of_o god_n for_o all_o these_o thing_n the_o fear_n of_o god_n do_v comprehend_v they_o that_o fear_v not_o god_n understand_v nothing_o hereof_o neither_o do_v the_o holy_a ghost_n here_o speak_v any_o thing_n of_o they_o verse_n 5._o the_o lord_n out_o of_o zion_n bless_v thou_o that_o thou_o may_v see_v the_o wealth_n of_o jerusalem_n all_o the_o day_n of_o thy_o life_n now_o after_o these_o high_a commendation_n of_o matrimony_n the_o holy_a ghost_n add_v a_o excellent_a prayer_n wherein_o he_o desire_v that_o god_n will_v bless_v more_o &_o more_o this_o kind_n of_o life_n and_o that_o for_o such_o marry_a person_n he_o will_v give_v peace_n and_o tranquillity_n to_o the_o common_a weal_n now_o all_o such_o prayer_n have_v a_o promise_n include_v that_o all_o thing_n shall_v come_v to_o pass_v as_o they_o do_v pray_v moreover_o where_o he_o add_v the_o lord_n out_o of_o zion_n etc_n etc_n he_o do_v it_o because_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n be_v at_o that_o time_n in_o zion_n therefore_o not_o only_o in_o heart_n they_o look_v towards_o that_o place_n as_o before_o we_o have_v declare_v but_o they_o turn_v their_o face_n also_o that_o way_n when_o they_o pray_v because_o god_n have_v promise_v that_o he_o will_v there_o dwell_v and_o there_o will_v receive_v the_o prayer_n and_o sacrifice_n of_o the_o people_n hereof_o come_v these_o say_n to_o pray_v before_o the_o lord_n to_o offer_v before_o the_o lord_n to_o appear_v before_o the_o lord_n that_o be_v to_o say_v in_o the_o tabernacle_n wherein_o be_v the_o ark_n and_o the_o mercy_n seat_n to_o the_o which_o god_n have_v bind_v himself_o that_o he_o will_v there_o be_v find_v wherefore_o they_o call_v this_o place_n the_o fortitude_n the_o kingdom_n the_o majesty_n the_o glory_n the_o beauty_n and_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o lord_n as_o in_o the_o psalm_n and_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o prophet_n be_v to_o be_v see_v after_o the_o come_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o publish_n of_o the_o gospel_n this_o place_n have_v a_o end_n wherefore_o we_o say_v not_o now_o god_n bless_v thou_o out_o of_o zion_n or_o out_o of_o his_o holy_a temple_n but_o through_o christ_n our_o lord_n for_o he_o be_v our_o true_a mercieseat_n whereof_o the_o mercy-seat_n of_o the_o old_a testament_n be_v but_o a_o shadow_n or_o a_o figure_n for_o in_o christ_n dwell_v the_o godhead_n corporal_o therefore_o when_o we_o pray_v unto_o god_n we_o desire_v to_o be_v hear_v in_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n and_o for_o christ_n sake_n like_v as_o by_o the_o example_n of_o the_o old_a primative_a church_n public_a prayer_n be_v all_o finish_v with_o this_o clause_n old_a testament_n the_o people_n be_v gather_v together_o unto_o the_o ark_n or_o tabernacle_n and_o be_v not_o suffer_v to_o sacrifice_v in_o dan_n bethel_n gilgal_n and_o other_o place_n which_o the_o wicked_a idolater_n do_v choose_v unto_o themselves_o so_o now_o to_o come_v unto_o the_o lord_n there_o be_v no_o way_n to_o be_v seek_v by_o invocation_n of_o sainetes_n or_o any_o other_o kind_n of_o worship_n or_o work_n but_o by_o christ_n and_o in_o christ_n alone_o according_a to_o that_o say_n whatsoever_o you_o shall_v ask_v the_o father_n in_o my_o name_n he_o will_v give_v it_o you_o for_o god_n will_v no_o where_o else_o be_v find_v or_o worship_v no_o not_o in_o heaven_n but_o only_o in_o this_o one_o person_n which_o be_v bear_v of_o the_o virgin_n mary_n that_o be_v in_o unto_o life_n and_o what_o do_v all_o these_o examine_v their_o heart_n and_o they_o will_v all_o say_v with_o one_o consent_n that_o they_o seek_v god_n now_o they_o think_v god_n to_o be_v such_o a_o one_o in_o heaven_n that_o if_o they_o be_v cover_v with_o a_o monk_n cowl_n if_o they_o abstain_v from_o flesh_n if_o they_o live_v without_o wife_n if_o they_o touch_v no_o money_n etc_n etc_n no_o otherwise_o then_o do_v the_o jew_n who_o when_o they_o have_v one_o certain_a way_n set_v before_o they_o whereby_o they_o may_v find_v god_n namely_o if_o they_o will_v go_v into_o the_o tabernacle_n and_o there_o worship_n god_n there_o offer_v sacrifice_n unto_o he_o they_o forsake_v the_o only_a and_o true_a way_n and_o run_v to_o wood_n valley_n river_n etc_n etc_n thus_o while_o they_o think_v to_o pacify_v and_o please_v god_n they_o more_o grievous_o offend_v he_o as_o in_o the_o prophet_n we_o may_v plain_o see_v in_o diverse_a place_n where_o god_n say_v that_o he_o detest_v the_o way_n which_o they_o do_v choose_v unto_o themselves_o and_o that_o he_o will_v not_o be_v find_v of_o they_o for_o why_o do_v they_o not_o keep_v the_o true_a and_o infallible_a way_n so_o plain_o set_v forth_o and_o teach_v by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n this_o have_v i_o speak_v to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v read_v with_o knowledge_n that_o which_o the_o prophet_n say_v here_o the_o lord_n out_o of_o zion_n for_o he_o be_v constrain_v to_o make_v mention_n of_o this_o place_n for_o the_o avoid_n of_o idolatry_n for_o god_n do_v reveal_v unto_o they_o that_o in_o this_o only_a place_n he_o will_v be_v worship_v wherefore_o under_o the_o veil_n and_o shadow_n of_o the_o promise_n they_o worship_v christ_n also_o who_o be_v include_v in_o the_o promise_n but_o now_o that_o zion_n be_v destroy_v and_o go_v the_o treasure_n be_v open_v that_o be_v to_o say_v christ_n who_o then_o be_v hide_v in_o the_o promise_n as_o under_o a_o veil_n wherefore_o let_v we_o remember_v that_o all_o such_o place_n must_v be_v apply_v unto_o christ_n like_a as_o also_o we_o be_v teach_v by_o experience_n that_o in_o tentation_n there_o be_v no_o consolation_n whereby_o afflict_a mind_n may_v be_v comfort_v and_o raise_v up_o no_o not_o in_o god_n but_o that_o only_a which_o be_v in_o christ_n for_o it_o be_v not_o only_o perilous_a but_o also_o horrible_a to_o think_v of_o god_n without_o christ_n for_o beside_o that_o satan_n be_v then_o able_a most_o easy_o to_o oppress_v we_o with_o the_o brightness_n of_o god_n majesty_n there_o be_v also_o great_a danger_n even_o
