with_o we_o for_o this_o be_v a_o duty_n not_o of_o some_o time_n and_o person_n but_o universal_o of_o man_n neither_o be_v they_o simple_o under_o the_o law_n to_o who_o this_o be_v speak_v lead_v indeed_o they_o be_v by_o the_o oeconomy_n of_o the_o law_n but_o yet_o under_o the_o promise_n and_o promise_a seed_n and_o be_v save_v by_o the_o gospel_n as_o we_o now_o be_v though_o the_o gospel_n not_o so_o distinct_o believe_v then_o as_o now_o it_o be_v neither_o indeed_o they_o nor_o any_o people_n else_o under_o heaven_n since_o that_o promise_n the_o seed_n of_o the_o woman_n shall_v bruise_v the_o serpent_n head_n be_v so_o mere_o under_o the_o law_n either_o of_o moses_n or_o nature_n but_o that_o if_o they_o do_v their_o duty_n keep_v the_o commandment_n which_o they_o man_n punishment_n for_o the_o breach_n of_o it_o now_o because_o not_o capable_a of_o any_o reward_n for_o the_o observance_n the_o gospel_n therefore_o do_v not_o evacuate_v as_o st._n paul_n speak_v but_o establish_v the_o law_n since_o every_o man_n be_v therefore_o bind_v in_o duty_n unto_o the_o law_n because_o not_o absolute_o exclude_v from_o all_o benefit_n of_o the_o gospel_n but_o we_o who_o be_v under_o the_o fullness_n of_o this_o gospel_n be_v in_o a_o full_a manner_n tie_v and_o in_o a_o high_a degree_n unto_o the_o observance_n of_o the_o law_n than_o any_o people_n else_o before_o that_o fullness_n come_v as_o be_v bind_v now_o by_o the_o special_a come_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o keep_v the_o commandment_n not_o in_o the_o oldness_n of_o the_o letter_n which_o as_o it_o seem_v be_v sufficient_a whilst_o the_o heir_n be_v but_o a_o child_n and_o in_o minority_n but_o in_o the_o newness_n of_o the_o spirit_n for_o the_o spirit_n it_o be_v which_o give_v life_n and_o vigour_n unto_o the_o commandment_n as_o be_v the_o very_a strength_n and_o power_n of_o all_o lively_a performance_n and_o therefore_o our_o saviour_n though_o he_o come_v with_o gospel_n in_o his_o mouth_n yea_o be_v the_o gospel_n himself_o yet_o think_v not_o say_v he_o that_o i_o come_v to_o dissolve_v the_o law_n i_o come_v not_o to_o dissolve_v but_o to_o fulfil_v it_o and_o that_o we_o may_v know_v the_o true_a fulfil_n of_o it_o if_o we_o think_v to_o enter_v into_o life_n belong_v to_o we_o as_o well_o as_o the_o entire_a and_o perpetual_a unto_o himself_o after_o he_o have_v vindicate_v the_o text_n of_o the_o law_n from_o the_o corrupt_a gloss_n of_o the_o scribe_n and_o pharisee_n and_o set_v it_o forth_o in_o the_o high_a perfection_n if_o not_o add_v perfection_n above_o the_o law_n and_o beyond_o that_o which_o be_v say_v unto_o they_o of_o old_a he_o close_v up_o all_o at_o last_o with_o this_o conclusion_n he_o that_o hear_v these_o say_n of_o i_o and_o do_v they_o i_o will_v liken_v he_o unto_o a_o wise_a man_n 24._o what_o then_o though_o be_v dead_a under_o the_o law_n we_o become_v through_o the_o favour_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o be_v dead_a also_o even_o unto_o the_o law_n yet_o it_o be_v but_o to_o the_o condemn_a power_n the_o kill_a letter_n of_o the_o law_n that_o so_o we_o may_v be_v marry_v unto_o christ_n our_o life_n all_o the_o world_n stand_v culpable_a before_o god_n it_o follow_v of_o necessity_n that_o either_o we_o must_v perish_v without_o remedy_n or_o else_o be_v justify_v by_o a_o gospel_n of_o mercy_n which_o he_o well_o term_v the_o justification_n of_o faith_n in_o mere_a opposition_n to_o work_n all_o work_n even_o faith_n itself_o as_o the_o thing_n which_o may_v be_v think_v to_o justify_v now_o st._n james_n intent_n be_v only_o to_o vindicate_v this_o wholesome_a and_o necessary_a doctrine_n from_o the_o abuse_n of_o heretical_a spirit_n who_o evil_a word_n have_v at_o once_o corrupt_v both_o st._n paul_n meaning_n and_o their_o own_o good_a manner_n affirm_v that_o since_o work_n can_v not_o justify_v no_o work_n be_v necessary_a and_o therefore_o it_o matter_a little_a to_o observe_v the_o law_n it_o be_v enough_o only_a to_o believe_v the_o gospel_n against_o these_o dissolute_a epicure_n this_o apostle_n as_o st._n augustin_n observe_v whole_o direct_v his_o dispute_n the_o purpose_n whereof_o be_v not_o to_o place_v justification_n in_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n for_o in_o many_o thing_n say_v he_o we_o offend_v all_o and_o if_o but_o in_o one_o yet_o be_v we_o guilty_a of_o the_o whole_a but_o only_a to_o show_v that_o unless_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n though_o former_o break_v do_v come_v at_o length_n to_o accompany_v our_o faith_n we_o can_v never_o be_v justify_v by_o any_o grace_n of_o the_o gospel_n so_o than_o if_o we_o divide_v right_o according_a to_o these_o intent_n we_o must_v distinguish_v of_o a_o twofold_a justification_n by_o innocence_n and_o by_o pardon_n for_o it_o must_v be_v either_o by_o work_n or_o by_o mercy_n a_o legal_a justification_n or_o a_o evangelical_n and_o of_o two_o sort_n of_o work_n subservient_fw-fr unto_o these_o several_a justification_n and_o of_o two_o sort_n of_o way_n by_o which_o they_o do_v justify_v work_v of_o perfection_n and_o perpetual_a perfection_n that_o inherent_o justify_v and_o formal_o in_o strictness_n of_o law_n but_o be_v exclude_v by_o st._n paul_n as_o no_o where_o find_v in_o any_o and_o work_v of_o renovation_n after_o the_o breach_n of_o the_o law_n require_v by_o st._n james_n in_o every_o one_o that_o expect_v the_o justification_n of_o the_o gospel_n those_o work_v perfect_o keep_v the_o law_n and_o never_o break_v it_o these_o keep_v the_o law_n sincere_o but_o after_o it_o be_v break_v they_o justify_v therefore_o in_o themselves_o and_o by_o their_o own_o worth_n these_o not_o so_o but_o because_o find_v in_o none_o but_o sinner_n prepare_v only_o and_o qualify_v for_o the_o justification_n of_o christ_n they_o justify_v these_o obtain_v justification_n that_o strict_o the_o justification_n of_o work_n this_o proper_o the_o justification_n of_o faith_n which_o be_v their_o fountain_n and_o faith_n alone_o alone_o without_o these_o may_v justify_v yea_o can_v justify_v with_o they_o for_o such_o work_n evacuate_v faith_n as_o not_o need_v it_o which_o be_v st._n paul_n doctrine_n but_o faith_n alone_o without_o these_o can_v justify_v yea_o without_o they_o be_v not_o faith_n not_o a_o true_a and_o a_o live_a faith_n which_o be_v st._n james_n his_o assertion_n and_o in_o this_o reconciliation_n do_v appear_v the_o reconciliation_n and_o opposition_n too_o of_o both_o law_n and_o gospel_n faith_n and_o work_n how_o they_o conspire_v and_o meet_v how_o they_o jar_v and_o refuse_v to_o mingle_v for_o the_o justification_n of_o the_o law_n evacuate_v christ_n who_o then_o die_v in_o vain_a as_o st._n paul_n speak_v for_o there_o need_v no_o saviour_n where_o there_o be_v no_o sin_n and_o the_o justification_n of_o christ_n disanull_v again_o that_o of_o the_o law_n as_o argue_v it_o to_o be_v break_v yea_o and_o the_o condemnation_n of_o the_o law_n too_o notwithstanding_o the_o breach_n so_o they_o contradict_v and_o dissolve_v one_o another_o but_o what_o the_o gospel_n exclude_v by_o remission_n of_o sin_n it_o close_v withal_o again_o by_o the_o manner_n of_o remit_v never_o pardon_v offence_n till_o they_o be_v first_o forsake_v and_o man_n return_v again_o to_o the_o observance_n of_o the_o law_n nor_o yet_o continue_v that_o pardon_n long_o than_o they_o shall_v continue_v to_o observe_v it_o say_v unto_o none_o but_o the_o penitent_a thy_o sin_n be_v forgiventhee_o nor_o yet_o unto_o they_o without_o say_v also_o sin_n no_o more_o lest_o a_o worse_a thing_n happen_v unto_o thou_o so_o the_o term_n stand_v thus_o no_o condemnation_n from_o the_o law_n though_o break_a whensoever_o we_o return_v to_o observe_v it_o and_o until_o we_o do_v observe_v it_o no_o grace_n or_o mercy_n by_o the_o gospel_n and_o so_o they_o meet_v and_o be_v be_v his_o own_o word_n not_o the_o hearer_n but_o the_o doer_n of_o the_o law_n shall_v be_v justify_v and_o that_o the_o law_n be_v do_v by_o faith_n be_v evident_a for_o faith_n work_v by_o love_n and_o love_n be_v the_o fulfil_n of_o the_o law_n 8._o so_o the_o apostle_n be_v both_o meet_v st._n james_n require_v faith_n and_o work_n st._n paul_n a_o work_a faith_n work_v by_o love_n and_o that_o even_o all_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n not_o so_o as_o to_o justify_v in_o themselves_o but_o only_o to_o qualify_v for_o the_o justification_n of_o christ._n the_o commandment_n therefore_o be_v no_o freewill_n offer_v at_o pleasure_n no_o voluntary_a duty_n of_o gratitude_n only_o but_o a_o duty_n necessary_a unto_o our_o justification_n here_o and_o eternal_a welfare_n if_o
