i_o be_o in_o truth_n guilty_a can_v only_o lie_v within_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o great_a god_n who_o be_v the_o searcher_n of_o all_o heart_n my_o own_o conscience_n and_o the_o conscience_n of_o my_o beforenamed_n accuser_n my_o god_n i_o be_o sure_a know_v my_o innocency_n and_o will_v acquit_v i_o at_o the_o great_a day_n of_o judgement_n my_o conscience_n with_o great_a joy_n and_o without_o ever_o have_v be_v so_o much_o as_o examine_v or_o tell_v what_o i_o be_v commit_v for_o i_o consider_v that_o too_o long_a a_o silence_n on_o my_o part_n may_v possible_o be_v rather_o take_v for_o a_o sullenness_n than_o patience_n and_o that_o there_o be_v a_o session_n then_o very_o near_o it_o import_v i_o to_o prevent_v as_o far_o as_o i_o can_v that_o i_o shall_v not_o be_v surprise_v by_o a_o trial_n and_o hurry_v from_o my_o close_a imprisonment_n to_o a_o bar_n without_o be_v permit_v to_o speak_v with_o any_o of_o my_o friend_n or_o to_o prepare_v for_o my_o trial_n hereupon_o i_o address_v myself_o to_o the_o say_a captain_n richardson_n to_o procure_v leave_n to_o address_v a_o petition_n to_o his_o majesty_n and_o have_v leave_n i_o do_v about_o the_o 10_o day_n of_o december_n deliver_v a_o petition_n to_o my_o say_a keeper_n to_o be_v humble_o present_v by_o he_o to_o his_o majesty_n there_o be_v no_o possibility_n for_o i_o to_o put_v the_o same_o that_o they_o have_v hear_v so_o good_a a_o character_n of_o i_o in_o the_o world_n that_o they_o be_v move_v in_o charity_n and_o compassion_n to_o come_v to_o i_o to_o advise_v i_o to_o make_v a_o free_a and_o full_a confession_n of_o the_o plot_n and_o treason_n against_o his_o majesty_n and_o the_o government_n with_o which_o i_o stand_v charge_v and_o thereby_o save_v my_o life_n and_o they_o be_v please_v to_o offer_v i_o to_o become_v my_o mediator_n for_o a_o pardon_n for_o the_o save_n of_o my_o life_n and_o of_o my_o estate_n in_o case_n i_o will_v make_v such_o confession_n by_o one_o of_o their_o lordship_n that_o their_o answer_n to_o that_o question_n of_o i_o be_v to_o be_v distinguish_v viz._n that_o i_o have_v so_o good_a and_o unblemished_a a_o reputation_n in_o witness_n and_o that_o a_o negative_a can_v not_o be_v prove_v yet_o it_o be_v know_v by_o all_o that_o there_o may_v in_o many_o case_n such_o affirmative_n be_v prove_v by_o the_o prisoner_n as_o to_o many_o circumstance_n as_o may_v clear_o prove_v the_o affirmative_a swear_v by_o the_o king_n witness_n to_o be_v impossible_a to_o be_v true_a and_o that_o for_o this_o reason_n if_o i_o shall_v be_v surprise_v by_o a_o sudden_a trial_n without_o know_v what_o be_v charge_v against_o i_o and_o the_o circumstance_n of_o the_o charge_n and_o without_o have_v the_o liberty_n of_o the_o gaol_n and_o of_o my_o friend_n come_v free_o to_o i_o in_o order_n to_o my_o prepare_v for_o my_o trial_n and_o for_o my_o just_a defence_n it_o will_v be_v the_o same_o thing_n as_o to_o murder_v i_o to_o all_o which_o one_o of_o the_o say_a lord_n reply_v it_o be_v the_o earl_n of_o shaftsbury_n that_o he_o take_v this_o way_n of_o close_a imprisonment_n to_o be_v illegal_a and_o that_o to_o be_v so_o surprise_v by_o a_o trial_n will_v be_v the_o same_o thing_n as_o to_o cut_v my_o throat_n and_o his_o lordship_n do_v thereupon_o tell_v i_o that_o care_n shall_v be_v take_v that_o i_o shall_v have_v a_o just_a liberty_n and_o freedom_n in_o the_o gaol_n for_o my_o friend_n to_o come_v to_o i_o and_o shall_v not_o be_v surprise_v by_o a_o trial_n as_o i_o sear_v to_o be_v this_o person_n oat_n and_o bedloe_n before_o they_o relieve_v their_o want_n and_o find_v the_o way_n to_o supply_v their_o necessity_n by_o charge_v those_o person_n with_o treason_n who_o have_v be_v execute_v or_o remain_v still_o prisoner_n upon_o their_o accusation_n after_o judgement_n be_v give_v against_o i_o upon_o the_o verdict_n find_v upon_o the_o evidence_n of_o these_o two_o man_n there_o be_v two_o person_n come_v to_o i_o to_o the_o gaol_n as_o send_v by_o the_o earl_n of_o shaftesbury_n or_o his_o order_n to_o propose_v something_o to_o i_o in_o charity_n for_o the_o save_n of_o my_o life_n the_o first_o thing_n by_o they_o propose_v to_o be_v do_v by_o i_o for_o that_o end_n be_v a_o discovery_n to_o be_v make_v by_o i_o of_o the_o plot_n and_o treason_n for_o which_o i_o stand_v condemn_v but_o when_o i_o have_v satisfy_v they_o so_o far_o as_o to_o my_o solemn_a protestation_n make_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n be_v of_o force_n to_o satisfy_v they_o touch_v
