sermon_n and_o homily_n and_o in_o such_o case_n they_o may_v very_o lawful_o be_v hear_v but_o if_o some_o man_n upon_o pretence_n to_o prevent_v extravagant_a preach_v shall_v take_v upon_o they_o to_o set_v forth_o a_o book_n of_o public_a common_a sermon_n fit_a for_o all_o time_n and_o occasion_n and_o shall_v enjoin_v minister_n to_o conform_v to_o these_o and_o use_v no_o other_o preach_v at_o all_o but_o the_o read_n of_o those_o common_a sermon_n or_o homily_n so_o devise_v for_o public_a worship_n this_o will_v make_v it_o utter_o unlawful_a and_o to_o be_v profess_v against_o as_o that_o which_o be_v the_o bring_n in_o of_o a_o humane_a device_n and_o injunction_n in_o the_o place_n and_o instead_o of_o god_n ordinance_n to_o the_o exclusion_n thereof_o as_o the_o pharisee_n therefore_o can_v expect_v man_n of_o part_n there_o not_o only_a may_v be_v but_o be_v a_o lawful_a and_o profitable_a use_n of_o read_v of_o print_a sermon_n and_o homily_n and_o that_o in_o such_o case_n yes_o and_o in_o other_o case_n too_o they_o may_v very_o lawful_o be_v hear_v and_o i_o think_v far_o that_o if_o some_o man_n not_o upon_o their_o own_o private_a authority_n but_o lawful_o meet_v in_o a_o synod_n or_o convocation_n shall_v not_o upon_o pretence_n but_o true_o to_o prevent_v extravagant_a preach_v such_o as_o of_o late_a have_v be_v and_o be_v too_o common_a in_o england_n shall_v take_v upon_o they_o to_o set_v forth_o a_o book_n of_o common_a sermon_n such_o as_o may_v be_v fit_a for_o all_o time_n and_o all_o occasion_n which_o be_v not_o impossible_a to_o be_v do_v and_o shall_v enjoin_v minister_n to_o conform_v to_o these_o and_o use_v no_o other_o preach_v at_o all_o but_o the_o read_n of_o these_o common_a sermon_n or_o homily_n so_o devise_v for_o public_a worship_n i_o must_v needs_o say_v it_o be_v a_o cure_n not_o to_o be_v use_v but_o in_o extremity_n to_o bar_v all_o other_o preach_v for_o the_o abuse_n of_o some_o be_v it_o never_o so_o gross_a yet_o if_o the_o distemper_n of_o the_o pulpit_n shall_v grow_v in_o any_o national_a church_n so_o high_a so_o seditious_a so_o heretical_a and_o blasphemous_a so_o schismatical_a and_o outrageous_a as_o many_o of_o they_o have_v be_v of_o late_a in_o this_o distract_a church_n of_o we_o i_o say_v if_o such_o a_o book_n of_o sermon_n shall_v be_v so_o set_v out_o by_o the_o church_n direction_n and_o publish_v by_o the_o authority_n of_o king_n and_o parliament_n as_o the_o book_n of_o common_a prayer_n be_v when_o the_o comparison_n be_v make_v thus_o even_o and_o my_o lord_n instance_n so_o bring_v home_o it_o i_o do_v then_o think_v such_o a_o book_n not_o devise_v for_o public_a worship_n but_o for_o public_a instruction_n for_o sermon_n be_v not_o proper_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n but_o as_o to_o teach_v we_o faith_n and_o obedience_n and_o how_o we_o be_v to_o pray_v and_o give_v worship_n to_o he_o may_v be_v use_v with_o great_a profit_n yea_o and_o with_o far_o more_o than_o many_o sermon_n of_o the_o present_a time_n which_o do_v in_o a_o manner_n teach_v nothing_o but_o disobedience_n to_o prince_n and_o all_o authority_n under_o a_o false_a pretence_n of_o obedience_n to_o god_n and_o for_o the_o injunction_n which_o stick_v so_o much_o with_o my_o lord_n certain_o in_o case_n of_o such_o extremity_n as_o be_v abovementioned_a and_o when_o nothing_o else_o will_v serve_v i_o conceive_v it_o may_v well_o and_o profitable_o be_v lay_v upon_o the_o minister_n and_o yet_o that_o such_o a_o imposition_n will_v be_v far_o from_o make_v it_o utter_o unlawful_a and_o to_o be_v profess_v against_o as_o that_o which_o be_v the_o bring_n in_o of_o a_o humane_a device_n in_o the_o place_n and_o instead_o of_o god_n ordinance_n to_o the_o still_o and_o then_o if_o preach_v be_v god_n ordinance_n print_v of_o sermon_n be_v the_o publish_n of_o god_n ordinance_n and_o therefore_o if_o there_o be_v a_o injunction_n for_o a_o book_n of_o sermon_n as_o be_v mention_v it_o be_v but_o a_o more_o public_a and_o durable_a divulge_v of_o god_n ordinance_n and_o not_o the_o bring_n in_o of_o a_o humane_a device_n instead_o of_o it_o and_o to_o the_o exclusion_n thereof_o as_o for_o that_o which_o follow_v that_o this_o be_v like_o the_o pharisee_n who_o to_o establish_v tradition_n of_o their_o own_o make_v void_a the_o commandment_n but_o my_o lord_n desire_v far_a consideration_n of_o his_o instance_n let_v it_o be_v consider_v what_o difference_n can_v be_v find_v between_o these_o but_o only_o this_o use_v and_o custom_n have_v enure_v we_o to_o that_o of_o prayer_n not_o so_o in_o this_o of_o preach_a and_o therefore_o the_o evil_a of_o it_o will_v easy_o appear_v unto_o we_o if_o so_o enjoin_v it_o be_v fit_a my_o lord_n shall_v have_v his_o desire_n in_o this_o that_o it_o be_v consider_v what_o difference_n can_v be_v find_v between_o these_o and_o out_o of_o all_o doubt_n my_o lord_n acknowledge_v that_o some_o difference_n there_o be_v and_o be_v it_o this_o only_a as_o his_o lordship_n will_v have_v it_o that_o use_n and_o custom_n have_v enure_v we_o to_o that_o of_o prayer_n and_o not_o so_o in_o this_o of_o preach_a that_o may_v be_v reason_n enough_o to_o continue_v our_o public_a set_a form_n of_o prayer_n for_o if_o the_o service_n have_v not_o fault_n in_o it_o but_o that_o it_o be_v enjoin_v and_o if_o the_o enjoin_v of_o a_o good_a service_n of_o god_n almighty_n in_o which_o christian_a people_n may_v consent_v and_o unanimous_o and_o uniform_o worship_v he_o be_v no_o fault_n at_o all_o as_o most_o certain_a it_o be_v not_o it_o be_v neither_o wisdom_n nor_o safety_n to_o cast_v off_o such_o a_o custom_n or_o usage_n and_o leave_v every_o minister_n and_o perhaps_o other_o man_n too_o to_o make_v what_o prayer_n they_o please_v in_o the_o congregation_n which_o doubtless_o will_v be_v many_o time_n such_o as_o no_o good_a understanding_n christian_n can_v
