leet_n within_o either_o of_o the_o place_n if_o he_o be_v there_o dwell_v at_o the_o time_n when_o the_o leet_n be_v keep_v for_o a_o man_n may_v do_v corporal_a service_n at_o two_o place_n at_o several_a time_n but_o if_o two_o tything_n be_v within_o one_o leet_n and_o one_o man_n have_v house_n in_o both_o the_o tything_n in_o this_o case_n it_o seem_v doubtful_a whether_o albeit_o he_o rate_v towards_o the_o relief_n of_o the_o poor_a of_o the_o parish_n and_o so_o have_v it_o be_v also_o resolve_v by_o the_o judge_n 12._o in_o some_o case_n a_o man_n may_v be_v tax_v for_o his_o good_n as_o well_o as_o for_o his_o land_n and_o in_o case_n of_o a_o rate_n for_o the_o poor_a man_n may_v be_v tax_v for_o their_o visible_a estate_n of_o good_n viz._n their_o ox_n kine_n sheep_n etc._n etc._n as_o well_o as_o for_o their_o land_n and_o not_o only_o for_o those_o good_n that_o be_v within_o the_o same_o parish_n where_o a_o man_n do_v dwell_v but_o also_o for_o those_o good_n which_o he_o have_v in_o any_o other_o place_n for_o a_o man_n shall_v not_o be_v rate_v for_o his_o good_n in_o any_o place_n but_o in_o the_o place_n where_o he_o do_v dwell_v nay_o it_o be_v hold_v in_o this_o case_n of_o rate_v for_o the_o poor_a some_o respect_n may_v be_v have_v to_o man_n invisible_a estate_n of_o money_n for_o the_o case_n may_v be_v so_o that_o the_o rater_n may_v know_v a_o man_n within_o the_o parish_n that_o have_v no_o other_o estate_n and_o yet_o perhaps_o have_v a_o annuity_n of_o one_o hundred_o pound_n by_o the_o year_n or_o have_v hundred_o of_o thousand_o of_o pound_n of_o money_n owe_v to_o he_o and_o in_o such_o a_o clear_a and_o certain_a case_n they_o may_v no_o doubt_n rate_v he_o according_a to_o that_o value_n 13._o in_o some_o special_a case_n a_o man_n may_v be_v rate_v beyond_o his_o ability_n for_o if_o a_o parishioner_n for_o his_o own_o gain_n or_o otherwise_o shall_v bring_v into_o the_o parish_n without_o the_o consent_n thereof_o a_o stranger_n who_o be_v or_o be_v apparent_o like_a to_o be_v burdensome_a to_o the_o parish_n in_o this_o case_n the_o parishioner_n because_o they_o have_v no_o other_o remedy_n against_o he_o may_v rate_v he_o not_o only_o according_a to_o his_o ability_n of_o land_n and_o good_n but_o according_a to_o the_o damage_n he_o bring_v or_o be_v like_a to_o bring_v to_o the_o parish_n by_o his_o folly_n for_o if_o any_o person_n shall_v find_v himself_o grieve_v with_o any_o such_o rate_n to_o the_o poor_a or_o other_o such_o like_a act_n do_v by_o the_o overseer_n of_o the_o poor_a or_o the_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n he_o have_v no_o other_o remedy_n but_o to_o complain_v to_o the_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n at_o the_o quarter_n session_n where_o the_o case_n appear_v to_o be_v as_o aforesaid_a he_o shall_v have_v a_o little_a relief_n 14._o if_o any_o man_n refuse_v to_o pay_v his_o rate_n for_o the_o poor_a the_o present_a or_o subsequent_a overseer_n of_o the_o poor_a shall_v have_v a_o warrant_n from_o the_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n to_o levy_v the_o same_o of_o the_o party_n good_n and_o thereupon_o they_o may_v and_o must_v sell_v the_o party_n good_n and_o pay_v themselves_o their_o rate_n and_o give_v the_o party_n the_o overplus_n of_o the_o money_n if_o there_o be_v any_o and_o if_o he_o have_v no_o good_n then_o to_o carry_v he_o to_o gaol_n there_o to_o abide_v until_o he_o do_v pay_v it_o it_o seem_v to_o i_o that_o for_o relief_n of_o the_o poor_a that_o they_o have_v not_o place_n for_o in_o case_n of_o necessity_n that_o they_o may_v rate_v the_o parish_n to_o build_v a_o house_n and_o to_o buy_v a_o piece_n of_o ground_n in_o some_o of_o the_o parishioner_n name_n to_o set_v it_o upon_o for_o it_o be_v in_o their_o discretion_n which_o way_n to_o provide_v and_o if_o they_o overrate_v any_o man_n to_o these_o end_n they_o can_v be_v sue_v by_o the_o party_n grieve_v but_o if_o there_o be_v any_o conspiracy_n in_o the_o case_n to_o oppress_v a_o man_n or_o he_o be_v rate_v to_o pay_v debt_n or_o for_o alimonie_n or_o for_o any_o other_o purpose_n by_o these_o officer_n a_o action_n will_v lie_v against_o they_o these_o officer_n with_o the_o churchwarden_n the_o parson_n or_o vicar_n and_o the_o constable_n of_o the_o place_n or_o the_o most_o part_n of_o they_o where_o any_o money_n be_v or_o shall_v be_v give_v to_o be_v continual_o employ_v for_o the_o bind_v out_o as_o apprentice_n the_o poor_a sort_n of_o child_n shall_v within_o the_o same_o place_n have_v the_o nomination_n and_o place_n of_o such_o apprentice_n and_o the_o guide_n and_o employment_n of_o such_o money_n as_o have_v be_v heretofore_o so_o give_v or_o which_o hereafter_o shall_v be_v so_o give_v to_o and_o for_o the_o continual_a bind_v forth_o of_o such_o and_o so_o many_o apprentice_n and_o in_o such_o sort_n as_o be_v already_o or_o shall_v hereafter_o be_v so_o give_v and_o appoint_v either_o by_o the_o last_o will_n or_o any_o write_n under_o the_o hand_n and_o seal_n of_o the_o giver_n of_o such_o money_n and_o if_o any_o of_o they_o wilful_o forbear_v or_o refuse_v according_a to_o their_o duty_n to_o employ_v such_o money_n by_o mean_n whereof_o the_o say_a money_n shall_v not_o be_v employ_v according_o than_o every_o of_o they_o so_o offend_v shall_v forfeit_v three_o pound_n for_o every_o such_o offence_n and_o the_o master_n mistress_z or_o dame_n of_o such_o apprentice_n shall_v be_v bind_v with_o one_o or_o two_o sufficient_a surety_n in_o double_a the_o sum_n they_o have_v receive_v with_o such_o apprentice_n to_o such_o person_n as_o aforesaid_a appoint_v to_o dispose_v the_o same_o money_n to_o repay_v the_o money_n so_o receive_v at_o seven_o year_n end_n or_o within_o three_o month_n next_o after_o the_o same_o seven_o year_n end_v and_o if_o the_o apprentice_n master_n etc._n etc._n happen_v to_o die_v within_o the_o say_v seven_o year_n then_o within_o one_o year_n next_o after_o such_o death_n and_o these_o officer_n and_o the_o rest_n ought_v to_o put_v forth_o and_o employ_v such_o money_n within_o three_o month_n at_o the_o further_a after_o
