his_o law_n be_v the_o rule_n of_o order_n in_o all_o humane_a action_n recta_fw-la ratio_fw-la what_o be_v it_o but_o the_o conformity_n of_o man_n understanding_n and_o will_n unto_o god_n will_n which_o only_o be_v the_o rule_n of_o righteousness_n we_o never_o purpose_v and_o will_n matter_n aright_o but_o when_o we_o will_v they_o agreeable_o to_o god_n will_n wherefore_o it_o be_v a_o gross_a absurdity_n to_o deny_v the_o sinnefulnesse_n of_o these_o disorderly_a motion_n see_v no_o man_n can_v break_v those_o order_n which_o god_n have_v make_v and_o yet_o be_v faultless_a nor_o be_v it_o possible_a a_o man_n shall_v do_v that_o which_o be_v contrary_a to_o god_n will_v and_o yet_o be_v without_o sin_n in_o do_v of_o it_o these_o motion_n then_o without_o consent_n be_v confusion_n in_o nature_n opposite_n to_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o will_n of_o god_n and_o unto_o that_o even_a and_o straight_o order_v express_v in_o his_o law_n we_o conclude_v then_o that_o concupiscence_n and_o inordinate_a motion_n of_o the_o soul_n not_o consent_v unto_o be_v sin_n contrary_a to_o our_o adversary_n assertion_n they_o bring_v some_o reason_n to_o prove_v they_o be_v not_o 1_o original_a sin_n be_v take_v away_o in_o baptism_n adu_n but_o concupiscence_n be_v not_o take_v away_o in_o baptism_n as_o appear_v by_o experience_n in_o the_o regenerate_a in_o who_o it_o remain_v ergo_fw-la concupiscence_n and_o pronnesse_n to_o sin_n be_v no_o sin_n this_o argument_n be_v frivolous_a in_o original_a sin_n there_o be_v two_o thing_n first_o the_o guilt_n second_o the_o inherent_a corruption_n we_o say_v in_o baptism_n the_o guilt_n be_v altogether_o wash_v away_o from_o the_o baptise_a elect_n by_o the_o blood_n of_o christ._n and_o for_o the_o corruption_n thereof_o it_o be_v part_v do_v away_o by_o the_o sanctify_a spirit_n of_o christ_n pour_v out_o upon_o the_o regenerate_v which_o by_o degree_n purge_v out_o the_o inherent_a sinfulness_n of_o nature_n by_o replant_n the_o grace_n of_o sanctification_n in_o all_o part_n concupiscence_n then_o notwithstanding_o baptism_n remain_v in_o the_o regenerate_v and_o be_v a_o sin_n in_o they_o the_o guiltiness_n whereof_o god_n merciful_o pardon_v in_o christ._n 2_o what_o be_v not_o in_o our_o power_n to_o avoid_v adu_n that_o god_n do_v not_o forbid_v we_o by_o his_o law_n but_o it_o be_v not_o in_o our_o power_n to_o avoid_v the_o motion_n of_o the_o heart_n that_o prevent_v reason_n and_o consent_n ergo_fw-la they_o be_v no_o sin_n forbid_a us._n to_o this_o we_o answer_v the_o mayor_n be_v true_a in_o thing_n mere_o natural_a that_o fall_v out_o by_o the_o necessity_n of_o nature_n well_o dispose_v so_o we_o say_v god_n law_n be_v uncouth_a shall_v he_o command_v a_o man_n never_o to_o be_v a_o hungry_a or_o thirst_n which_o thing_n he_o can_v avoid_v but_o they_o come_v upon_o he_o will_v he_o will_z he_o by_o the_o mere_a necessity_n of_o nature_n but_o concern_v inordinate_a motion_n there_o be_v no_o such_o matter_n god_n have_v lay_v no_o such_o necessity_n on_o nature_n in_o her_o creation_n but_o we_o by_o our_o sin_n have_v bring_v it_o upon_o ourselves_o now_o such_o a_o necessity_n excuse_v we_o not_o in_o this_o case_n it_o help_v a_o man_n no_o more_o to_o say_v i_o can_v avoid_v evil_a thought_n and_o desire_n then_o it_o do_v a_o desperate_a sinner_n that_o by_o countenance_n have_v harden_v himself_o in_o evil_a course_n or_o than_o it_o help_v the_o devil_n and_o the_o damn_a if_o they_o shall_v say_v we_o can_v choose_v but_o do_v evil_a 3_o they_o argue_v thus_o that_o which_o will_v have_v be_v natural_a and_o without_o fault_n in_o man_n adu_n if_o he_o have_v be_v create_v in_o puris_fw-la naturalibus_fw-la that_o be_v no_o sin_n nor_o fault_n in_o us._n but_o motion_n prevent_v consent_n will_v be_v natural_a and_o without_o fault_n in_o man_n so_o make_v ergo_fw-la in_o we_o they_o be_v no_o fault_n of_o themselves_o here_o our_o adversary_n have_v make_v a_o man_n of_o white_a paper_n or_o the_o like_a to_o materia_fw-la prima_fw-la that_o have_v not_o any_o quality_n in_o he_o moral_o good_a or_o bad_a that_o be_v a_o man_n that_o have_v neither_o the_o image_n of_o god_n in_o knowledge_n righteousness_n and_o holiness_n engrave_v on_o his_o understanding_n will_n affection_n and_o whole_a person_n nor_o yet_o though_o it_o have_v it_o not_o have_v in_o he_o any_o contrary_a evil_a quality_n that_o come_v upon_o he_o by_o
that_o he_o be_v a_o god_n that_o hate_v iniquity_n if_o he_o do_v hate_v it_o they_o certain_o he_o must_v punish_v it_o god_n can_v see_v a_o fault_n and_o hate_v a_o fault_n but_o he_o must_v also_o punish_v it_o to_o if_o he_o punish_v it_o than_o he_o which_o be_v justify_v shall_v yet_o be_v condemn_v which_o be_v absurd_a unto_o these_o argument_n we_o answer_v unto_o the_o two_o former_a thus_o when_o we_o say_v sin_n remain_v in_o a_o man_n regenerate_v and_o justify_v we_o must_v distinguish_v the_o ambiguity_n of_o the_o word_n sin_n in_o sin_n to_o use_v that_o distinction_n which_o be_v authentical_a with_o ou●_n adversary_n there_o be_v three_o thing_n 1_o the_o offence_n of_o god_n which_o be_v the_o fault_n 2_o the_o obligation_n unto_o eternal_a punishment_n which_o be_v the_o guilt_n 3_o the_o stain_n or_o pollution_n of_o the_o soul_n viz_o the_o inherent_a vicious_a inclination_n of_o it_o unto_o evil_n from_o whence_o the_o fault_n commit_v first_o issue_v and_o which_o by_o commit_v of_o the_o fault_n be_v augment_v for_o evil_o once_o commit_v leaf_n a_o further_a pronnesse_n in_o the_o heart_n to_o do_v it_o again_o this_o we_o call_v the_o corruption_n of_o sinne._n thus_o than_o we_o answer_v sin_n do_v not_o remain_v in_o those_o that_o be_v justify_v &_o regenerate_v in_o the_o two_o first_o respect_n viz._n of_o the_o fault_n and_o the_o guilt_n both_o which_o be_v take_v away_o by_o the_o death_n of_o christ._n but_o sin_n do_v remain_v in_o the_o regenerate_a according_a to_o the_o 3_o respect_n viz._n the_o vicious_a quality_n and_o corruption_n thereof_o inherent_a in_o the_o soul_n we_o shall_v explain_v these_o answer_n and_o apply_v they_o to_o the_o argument_n we_o say_v then_o that_o the_o fault_n &_o guilt_n of_o sin_n in_o the_o regenerate_a be_v utter_o abolish_v by_o the_o death_n of_o christ._n which_o we_o do_v not_o take_v in_o such_o a_o sense_n as_o this_o that_o in_o a_o man_n regenerate_v there_o be_v not_o at_o all_o any_o one_o fault_n or_o guilt_n to_o be_v find_v for_o to_o say_v that_o a_o man_n regenerate_v when_o he_o sin_n be_v neither_o faulty_a nor_o guilty_a be_v a_o gross_a untruth_n ●_o see_v it_o be_v impossible_a that_o man_n shall_v sin_v yet_o god_n not_o be_v offend_v that_o man_n shall_v sin_v and_o yet_o not_o be_v guilty_a and_o deserve_v eternal_a death_n wherefore_o we_o confess_v that_o in_o the_o holy_a of_o man_n if_o they_o sin_n there_o be_v a_o true_a fault_n and_o god_n be_v displease_v with_o it_o there_o be_v also_o true_a guilt_n and_o for_o it_o they_o deserve_v to_o go_v to_o hell_n but_o yet_o this_o truth_n also_o must_v be_v acknowledge_v withal_o that_o all_o faultinesse_n and_o guiltiness_n be_v quite_o abolish_v and_o take_v away_o from_o they_o by_o christ_n because_o that_o both_o be_v pardon_v unto_o they_o god_n be_v offend_v but_o yet_o they_o feel_v not_o the_o woeful_a effect_n of_o his_o indignation_n because_o in_o christ_n he_o be_v gracious_o content_v to_o be_v reconcile_v with_o they_o again_o they_o have_v deserve_v everlasting_a death_n but_o they_o come_v not_o to_o the_o pain_n thereof_o because_o free_v from_o the_o punishment_n by_o christ_n satisfaction_n thus_o than_o we_o understand_v the_o first_o part_n of_o the_o answer_n that_o the_o fault_n and_o guilt_n of_o sin_n be_v utter_o abolish_v that_o be_v total_o pardon_v unto_o the_o regenerate_v by_o mean_n of_o christ_n so_o that_o no_o final_a eternal_a punishment_n shall_v befall_v they_o therefore_o the_o other_o part_n that_o sin_n in_o the_o vicious_a quality_n and_o corruption_n if_o it_o remain_v in_o man_n justify_v we_o understand_v with_o this_o necessary_a 14._o limitation_n that_o it_o remain_v in_o they_o not_o in_o its_o power_n and_o strength_n but_o in_o its_o be_v and_o life_n it_o have_v vitam_fw-la but_o not_o regnum_fw-la it_o reign_v where_o there_o be_v no_o grace_n at_o the_o argument_n sin_n be_v take_v away_o blot_v out_o drown_v in_o the_o bottom_n of_o the_o sea_n in_o regare_fw-la of_o those_o mischievous_a effect_n which_o sin_n will_v have_v borough_n on_o no_o long_o pursue_v the_o israelite_n to_o annoy_v they_o not_o shall_v stand_v up_o as_o a_o adversary_n in_o judgement_n to_o condemn_v us._n the_o gild_n of_o sin_n be_v wash_v away_o total_a by_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n the_o filthynesse_n of_o corrupt_a nature_n be_v in_o part_n by_o degree_n cleanse_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n pour_v on_o we_o in_o his_o sanctifie_v grace_n the_o be_v lead_v captive_a to_o disobedience_n be_v some_o break_a all_o weaken_a we_o be_v free_v from_o the_o power_n of_o satan_n and_o fear_n of_o hell_n but_o not_o whole_o free_v from_o sin_n whereby_o we_o be_v often_o captive_n against_o our_o will_n sin_n be_v a_o sickness_n and_o god_n be_v the_o physician_n a_o wound_n and_o god_n be_v the_o chirurgeon_n true_a but_o the_o cure_v our_o iniquity_n and_o that_o be_v do_v ●utirely_o and_o total_o and_o heal_v all_o our_o infirmity_n but_o this_o be_v by_o degree_n not_o all_o at_o once_o in_o which_o course_n god_n have_v no_o work_v if_o the_o cure_n go_v on_o more_o slow_o than_o our_o foolish_a hastiness_n think_v fit_a that_o be_v fit_a and_o best_a what_o god_n think_v so_o and_o if_o we_o count_v he_o faithful_a and_o wise_a in_o his_o art_n it_o be_v our_o duty_n to_o take_v his_o advice_n but_o saucy_a presumption_n to_o give_v he_o any_o last_o where_o sin_n be_v say_v to_o be_v the_o spiritual_a death_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o so_o life_n be_v restore_v in_o justification_n death_n must_v needs_o be_v quite_o abolish_v the_o weakness_n of_o this_o argument_n appear_v straight_o if_o the_o metaphorical_a term_n be_v change_v in_o to_o proper_a the_o death_n of_o sin_n be_v either_o the_o separation_n of_o all_o grace_n from_o the_o soul_n or_o the_o separation_n of_o god_n favour_n from_o the_o soul_n we_o be_v dead_a in_o trespass_n and_o sin_n both_o way_n in_o regard_n that_o in_o the_o state_n of_o unregeneration_n the_o soul_n be_v utter_o destitute_a of_o all_o grace_n and_o goodness_n and_o also_o be_v cause_n in_o that_o condition_n it_o be_v liable_a to_o eternal_a death_n now_o the_o death_n of_o sin_n that_o be_v eternal_a death_n in_o the_o perpetual_a loss_n of_o god_n favour_n this_o be_v clean_o take_v a_o way_n from_o he_o that_o be_v regenerate_v christ_n by_o his_o death_n have_v purchase_v to_o he_o life_n and_o immortality_n but_o touch_v that_o other_o death_n that_o be_v the_o want_n of_o all_o inherent_a grace_n in_o the_o soul_n they_o say_v that_o in_o regeneration_n grace_n and_o holiness_n be_v restore_v to_o the_o soul_n yet_o not_o so_o perfect_o as_o to_o abolish_v every_o degree_n of_o sinful_a corruption_n before_o regeneration_n the_o soul_n have_v no_o grace_n atall_a and_o so_o be_v utter_o dead_a but_o it_o follow_v not_o that_o therefore_o in_o regeneration_n it_o have_v all_o grace_n give_v it_o in_o all_o perfection_n and_o so_o make_v perfect_o alive_a what_o ever_o harshness_n there_o be_v in_o the_o metaphor_n the_o plain_a term_n in_o this_o case_n be_v smooth_a enough_o a_o man_n may_v be_v at_o once_o a_o live_v and_o dead_a that_o be_v at_o once_o a_o man_n may_v be_v partly_o holy_a and_o partly_o sinful_a our_o old_a man_n be_v crucify_v with_o christ_n upon_o who_o cross_n it_o receive_v a_o deadly_a wound_n because_o christ_n by_o his_o sacrifice_n have_v procure_v the_o send_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n into_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o elect_n who_o by_o
