prevail_v but_o notwithout_v much_o pain_n many_o wound_n shrewd_a blow_n and_o continual_a labour_n we_o may_v say_v they_o get_v the_o town_n hardly_o the_o like_a may_v be_v say_v in_o this_o particular_a who_o know_v not_o the_o truth_n hereof_o in_o his_o own_o experience_n how_o hardly_o can_v thou_o be_v humble_v how_o hardly_o draw_v to_o renounce_v thy_o lust_n how_o be_v thou_o fain_o to_o wrestle_v before_o thou_o can_v do_v any_o good_a what_o continual_a need_n have_v thou_o of_o prayer_n good_a company_n etc._n etc._n yea_o who_o know_v any_o thing_n see_v not_o he_o have_v need_n of_o his_o cross_n and_o that_o it_o be_v good_a for_o he_o that_o he_o be_v afflict_v 1._o this_o cross_v the_o most_o gross_a 1_o and_o yet_o most_o common_a conceit_n of_o the_o world_n that_o its_o a_o easy_a matter_n to_o be_v save_v that_o there_o be_v no_o need_n of_o such_o preciseness_n but_o that_o if_o man_n mean_v well_o god_n will_v be_v content_a and_o though_o one_o have_v live_v bad_o yet_o at_o what_o time_n soever_o they_o repent_v for_o which_o a_o quarter_n of_o a_o hour_n be_v enough_o it_o shall_v be_v well_o with_o they_o and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o the_o word_n and_o our_o preach_v be_v of_o such_o small_a account_n and_o that_o so_o few_o take_v any_o pain_n to_o be_v save_v but_o take_v pain_n for_o the_o belly_n and_o back_n and_o to_o grow_v rich_a etc._n etc._n ignorant_n person_n look_v not_o out_o but_o content_v themselves_o with_o a_o blind_a good_a meaning_n without_o any_o part_n of_o a_o good_a life_n so_o profane_a person_n so_o worldling_n so_o civil_a one_o though_o the_o scripture_n require_v we_o to_o labour_v strive_v give_v all_o diligence_n study_n seek_v yet_o will_v not_o they_o take_v any_o pain_n nay_o not_o only_o so_o but_o they_o laugh_v and_o gibe_v at_o they_o that_o labour_n herein_o as_o fool_n or_o idle_a person_n what_o be_v thou_o woeful_a wretch_n that_o dare_v cross_v the_o lord_n so_o direct_o he_o say_v it_o be_v a_o strait_a way_n and_o few_o find_v it_o and_o to_o this_o end_n bid_v strive_v thou_o say_v it_o be_v no_o such_o matter_n if_o it_o be_v as_o thou_o dote_v christ_n may_v not_o only_o have_v spare_v those_o speech_n but_o indeed_o the_o whole_a scripture_n for_o what_o use_n of_o any_o but_o to_o bid_v people_n live_v as_o they_o list_v and_o at_o last_o cry_v god_n mercy_n and_o all_o be_v well_o no_o god_n must_v make_v new_a scripture_n and_o chalk_v a_o new_a way_n to_o heaven_n ere_o ever_o thou_o shall_v find_v that_o thou_o look_v for_o but_o what_o be_v thou_o that_o neither_o wilt_v take_v pain_n to_o save_v thy_o own_o soul_n nor_o can_v be_v content_a that_o other_o shall_v do_v thou_o think_v that_o they_o be_v idle_a person_n that_o take_v pain_n to_o hear_v the_o word_n o_o they_o can_v follow_v the_o world_n and_o that_o too_o hard_a but_o that_o they_o know_v one_o thing_n be_v needful_a can_v they_o not_o sit_v at_o home_n in_o their_o chair_n or_o keep_v their_o bed_n as_o well_o as_o rise_v and_o toil_n etc._n etc._n but_o that_o they_o know_v that_o they_o can_v so_o get_v heaven_n but_o that_o they_o have_v need_v to_o use_v all_o mean_n and_o that_o little_a enough_o though_o thou_o see_v no_o such_o thing_n indeed_o to_o lead_v a_o careless_a life_n to_o do_v good_a if_o it_o come_v in_o the_o way_n and_o if_o ill_o come_v in_o the_o way_n to_o be_v as_o fit_v for_o that_o etc._n etc._n a_o few_o sermon_n and_o little_a hear_n may_v serve_v for_o such_o a_o life_n but_o this_o be_v not_o the_o way_n to_o get_v heaven_n if_o ever_o thou_o will_v be_v save_v thou_o must_v change_v thy_o mind_n and_o practice_n and_o believe_v the_o scripture_n that_o its_o a_o strait_a way_n and_o according_o bend_v thyself_o to_o begin_v to_o take_v pain_n to_o see_v and_o confess_v thy_o sin_n to_o labour_v for_o faith_n to_o turn_v
