as_o the_o learned_a concern_v it_o so_o that_o he_o will_v give_v i_o the_o tongue_n of_o the_o learned_a to_o speak_v of_o it_o and_o grant_v you_o also_o to_o hear_v with_o the_o ear_n of_o the_o learned_a that_o so_o in_o this_o whole_a duty_n the_o preparation_n of_o the_o heart_n the_o answer_n of_o the_o tongue_n and_o the_o hear_v of_o the_o ear_n may_v be_v from_o the_o lord_n now_o i_o shall_v endeavour_v so_o to_o treat_v of_o it_o as_o if_o there_o be_v no_o other_o point_n of_o controversy_n between_o we_o protestant_n and_o the_o roman_a persuasion_n but_o only_o the_o sense_n of_o these_o word_n this_o be_v my_o body_n and_o i_o shall_v consider_v that_o transubstantiation_n as_o it_o be_v general_o call_v that_o be_v build_v upon_o it_o as_o if_o there_o be_v no_o other_o fault_n nor_o error_n in_o that_o doctrine_n but_o only_o a_o zeal_n for_o the_o mystery_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n and_o the_o letter_n of_o scripture_n in_o this_o institution_n though_o it_o be_v not_o according_a to_o knowledge_n and_o therefore_o i_o will_v allow_v the_o utmost_a both_o to_o the_o word_n and_o the_o sense_n that_o can_v be_v allow_v the_o very_a utmost_a that_o can_v be_v make_v of_o this_o be_v my_o body_n this_o cup_n be_v my_o blood_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n and_o i_o shall_v endeavour_v so_o to_o treat_v of_o it_o that_o there_o may_v be_v nothing_o that_o may_v be_v offensive_a except_o the_o plain_a evidence_n and_o reason_n of_o thing_n the_o evidence_n of_o truth_n without_o any_o umbrage_n any_o shadow_n of_o a_o rail_a accusation_n i_o will_v discourse_v only_o upon_o the_o single_a account_n of_o scripture_n and_o the_o reason_n draw_v from_o it_o and_o therefore_o i_o do_v allow_v that_o these_o word_n this_o be_v my_o body_n and_o this_o cup_n be_v my_o blood_n they_o do_v carry_v a_o most_o high_a and_o important_a sense_n and_o i_o shall_v consider_v the_o utmost_a tendency_n they_o can_v have_v to_o such_o a_o thing_n as_o be_v call_v transubstantiation_n though_o the_o word_n itself_o be_v not_o indeed_o find_v in_o scripture_n yet_o i_o will_v allow_v the_o thing_n in_o its_o due_a sense_n and_o i_o shall_v endeavour_v so_o to_o do_v this_o that_o you_o may_v have_v the_o clear_a understanding_n of_o the_o intention_n and_o mean_v of_o the_o lord_n supper_n and_o the_o institution_n of_o it_o and_o of_o these_o word_n this_o be_v my_o body_n and_o so_o as_o may_v tend_v most_o to_o the_o real_a sense_n and_o impression_n upon_o your_o heart_n of_o so_o great_a a_o expression_n of_o our_o saviour_n both_o in_o the_o general_a doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o in_o the_o particular_a sense_n and_o mean_v of_o the_o lord_n supper_n and_o that_o sacred_a solemnity_n and_o also_o may_v be_v most_o practical_a and_o may_v most_o serve_v to_o the_o good_a of_o every_o man_n soul_n who_o desire_v spiritual_o to_o understand_v this_o great_a doctrine_n and_o the_o particular_a ordinance_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n and_o because_o it_o be_v agree_v among_o all_o man_n that_o profess_v any_o reverence_n to_o the_o lord_n supper_n that_o as_o it_o be_v not_o a_o humane_a device_n so_o not_o a_o natural_a duty_n make_v know_v by_o natural_a light_n nor_o write_v in_o natural_a conscience_n it_o be_v not_o like_o the_o reverence_n of_o the_o divine_a be_v or_o prayer_n to_o god_n or_o the_o desire_n to_o know_v his_o mind_n or_o will_n or_o any_o moral_a duty_n but_o it_o depend_v whole_o upon_o divine_a institution_n and_o ordination_n it_o be_v whole_o from_o scripture_n or_o else_o there_o can_v never_o have_v be_v such_o a_o worship_n of_o god_n know_v in_o the_o world_n as_o the_o solemnity_n of_o eat_a bread_n and_o drink_v wine_n in_o the_o lord_n supper_n in_o remembrance_n of_o he_o to_o introduce_v therefore_o this_o matter_n i_o consider_v there_o be_v four_o inspire_a writer_n who_o have_v give_v we_o this_o institution_n from_o our_o lord_n the_o evangelist_n matthew_n the_o evangelist_n mark_n the_o evangelist_n luke_n and_o the_o apostle_n paul_n and_o then_o the_o evangelist_n john_n although_o it_o be_v not_o commit_v to_o he_o as_o every_o evangelist_n have_v throughout_o the_o whole_a evangelic_n history_n his_o portion_n of_o every_o matter_n and_o the_o proper_a word_n of_o it_o commit_v to_o he_o to_o write_v of_o this_o institution_n yet_o he_o have_v a_o sublime_a and_o high_o spiritual_a discourse_n entrust_v with_o he_o all_o along_o the_o last_o part_n of_o his_o six_o chapter_n concern_v the_o eat_v the_o flesh_n of_o christ_n and_o drink_v his_o blood_n which_o must_v needs_o be_v the_o foundation_n of_o eat_v the_o flesh_n of_o christ_n and_o drink_v his_o blood_n in_o the_o sacrament_n for_o a_o sacrament_n must_v have_v a_o doctrine_n to_o sustain_v it_o that_o it_o may_v not_o be_v a_o insignificant_a ceremony_n and_o what_o can_v have_v near_a relation_n to_o the_o sacrament_n of_o eat_v the_o body_n of_o christ_n break_v for_o we_o and_o drink_v his_o blood_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n shed_v for_o many_o than_o eat_v his_o flesh_n and_o drink_v his_o blood_n which_o he_o give_v for_o the_o life_n of_o the_o world_n which_o be_v meat_n indeed_o and_o drink_v indeed_o
