though_o many_o time_n these_o phantasm_n be_v very_o imperfect_a and_o very_o confuse_v the_o second_o cause_n of_o the_o connexion_n of_o the_o idea_n with_o the_o trace_n and_o which_o always_o suppose_v the_o first_o be_v the_o will_n of_o man_n this_o will_n 〈◊〉_d necessary_a that_o this_o connexion_n of_o the_o idea_n with_o the_o trace_n may_v be_v regulate_v and_o proper_a for_o use_v for_o if_o man_n have_v not_o natural_o a_o inclination_n to_o agree_v between_o themselves_o to_o affix_v their_o idea_n to_o sensible_a sign_n not_o only_o this_o connexion_n of_o idea_n will_v be_v absolute_o unprofitable_a for_o society_n but_o it_o will_v be_v also_o very_o irregular_a and_o imperfect_a first_o because_o idea_n be_v never_o strong_o unite_v with_o the_o trace_n but_o when_o the_o spirit_n be_v agitate_a they_o render_v those_o trace_n deep_a and_o durable_a so_o that_o the_o spirit_n be_v never_o agitate_a but_o by_o the_o passion_n if_o man_n have_v no_o such_o union_n to_o communicate_v their_o sentiment_n and_o participate_v of_o those_o of_o other_o it_o be_v evident_a that_o the_o exact_a union_n of_o their_o idea_n with_o certain_a trace_n will_v be_v very_o weak_a because_o they_o do_v not_o subject_v themselves_o to_o those_o exact_a and_o regular_a connexion_n but_o to_o render_v themselves_o intelligible_a second_o the_o repetition_n of_o the_o meeting_n of_o the_o same_o idea_n with_o the_o same_o trace_n be_v necessary_a to_o form_v a_o connexion_n that_o may_v be_v of_o long_a continuance_n since_o the_o meeting_n unless_o it_o be_v accompany_v with_o a_o violent_a motion_n of_o the_o animal_n spirit_n suffice_v not_o to_o make_v strong_a connexion_n it_o be_v clear_a that_o if_o man_n shall_v refuse_v to_o assent_v it_o will_v be_v the_o great_a chance_n in_o the_o world_n if_o the_o same_o trace_n and_o idea_n shall_v meet_v together_o so_o that_o the_o will_n of_o man_n be_v necessary_a to_o regulate_v the_o connexion_n in_o several_a country_n it_o be_v because_o it_o depend_v upon_o the_o weak_a and_o changeable_a will_n of_o men._n and_o the_o reason_n why_o it_o depend_v upon_o it_o be_v because_o this_o connexion_n be_v not_o absolute_o necessary_a for_o life_n but_o only_o for_o live_v like_o man_n that_o be_v to_o form_n among_o themselves_o a_o rational_a society_n here_o we_o must_v observe_v animal_n which_o he_o have_v never_o see_v and_o of_o which_o he_o never_o have_v any_o idea_n so_o that_o the_o picture_n which_o he_o shall_v make_v shall_v be_v like_a to_o this_o unknown_a
