shall_v see_v ere_o we_o end_v the_o survey_n of_o this_o query_n yet_o there_o be_v a_o manifest_a hazard_n in_o deny_v the_o title_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o the_o scripture_n for_o let_v it_o once_o be_v deny_v with_o the_o quaker_n that_o the_o scripture_n be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o then_o grant_v what_o they_o will_v to_o get_v their_o negative_a once_o admit_v it_o plain_o follow_v that_o they_o have_v never_o be_v speak_v by_o the_o mouth_n of_o the_o lord_n see_v what_o any_o person_n speak_v must_v needs_o be_v his_o word_n or_o else_o he_o speak_v and_o hold_v his_o and_o have_v no_o interest_n to_o be_v so_o call_v and_o then_o all_o the_o exhortation_n give_v in_o the_o scripture_n for_o harken_v to_o the_o word_n believe_v and_o obey_v the_o word_n etc._n objection_n be_v both_o answer_v and_o overthrow_v again_o they_o insinuate_v another_o argument_n whereby_o they_o endeavour_v to_o wrest_v the_o title_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n from_o the_o scripture_n the_o scripture_n say_v they_o signify_v write_n therefore_o they_o mean_v to_o infer_v they_o be_v not_o the_o word_n of_o god_n ans_fw-fr it_o do_v equal_o follow_v therefore_o they_o be_v not_o the_o word_n of_o god_n as_o the_o word_n of_o god_n as_o all_o may_v see_v and_o so_o the_o consequent_a of_o their_o present_a argument_n contradict_v the_o antecedent_n of_o their_o to_o their_o enunciat_a doctrine_n or_o sentence_n they_o be_v not_o the_o word_n of_o god_n it_o follow_v not_o for_o in_o the_o scripture_n there_o be_v two_o thing_n to_o be_v consider_v viz_o their_o doctrine_n and_o sentence_n which_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o their_o external_a form_n or_o mode_n which_o they_o have_v from_o the_o pen_n of_o the_o writer_n which_o give_v the_o word_n of_o god_n the_o denomination_n of_o write_a and_o therefore_o we_o call_v the_o scripture_n the_o write_a word_n because_o we_o say_v that_o the_o quaker_n by_o endeavour_v to_o wrest_v the_o title_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n from_o the_o scripture_n do_v strike_v at_o their_o divine_a authority_n therefore_o i_o shall_v here_o give_v a_o short_a touch_n of_o the_o note_n and_o argument_n whereby_o the_o scripture_n be_v clear_o demonstrate_v to_o be_v from_o god_n and_o of_o divine_a inspiration_n such_o as_o be_v the_o majesty_n of_o the_o style_n of_o the_o scripture_n above_o all_o other_o write_n under_o great_a simplicity_n of_o word_n the_o divine_a purity_n of_o the_o doctrine_n savour_v whole_o of_o holiness_n and_o virtue_n the_o divine_a scope_n of_o the_o doctrine_n which_o be_v to_o give_v all_o glory_n to_o god_n the_o efficacy_n of_o the_o doctrine_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n above_o all_o other_o doctrine_n in_o the_o world_n the_o infallible_a accomplishment_n of_o the_o prediction_n therein_o contain_v as_o they_o be_v foretold_v the_o wonderful_a consent_n of_o all_o the_o part_n thereof_o be_v write_v by_o so_o many_o diverse_a penman_n villainy_n denounce_v their_o doom_n which_o gall_n they_o and_o prescribe_v a_o method_n of_o live_v quite_o contrary_a to_o their_o inclination_n nor_o can_v good_a angel_n or_o man_n be_v their_o author_n for_o upon_o the_o one_o hand_n they_o dare_v not_o have_v so_o usurp_v upon_o god_n as_o to_o feign_v his_o authority_n and_o commission_n to_o so_o many_o law_n ordinance_n threaten_n and_o promise_v of_o their_o own_o mere_a invention_n and_o upon_o the_o other_o hand_n if_o they_o have_v do_v it_o they_o can_v not_o have_v be_v good_a angel_n or_o man_n therefore_o the_o scripture_n must_v be_v from_o god_n himself_o these_o thing_n put_v together_o which_o i_o have_v but_o name_v be_v sufficient_a to_o convince_v that_o the_o scripture_n be_v from_o god_n and_o of_o divine_a authority_n and_o be_v enough_o irresistible_o to_o stop_v the_o mouth_n of_o all_o contradicter_n notwithstanding_o for_o the_o full_a assurance_n and_o through_o persuasion_n of_o faith_n that_o the_o scripture_n be_v from_o god_n and_o of_o divine_a inspiration_n the_o spirit_n be_v requisite_a by_o his_o effectual_a work_v in_o with_o and_o by_o the_o same_o upon_o our_o heart_n and_o mind_n to_o seal_v up_o their_o divine_a authority_n unto_o we_o and_o yet_o this_o make_v nothing_o in_o the_o least_o for_o the_o quaker_n who_o teach_v to_o follow_v a_o spirit_n abstract_a and_o separate_v from_o the_o scripture_n for_o beside_o that_o we_o shall_v show_v at_o the_o follow_a query_n that_o the_o spirit_n speak_v in_o the_o scripture_n most_o strait_o tie_v we_o to_o the_o scripture_n as_o our_o supreme_a rule_n in_o all_o matter_n of_o faith_n it_o be_v also_o evident_a that_o it_o be_v in_o with_o and_o by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n write_v in_o the_o scripture_n that_o the_o spirit_n manifest_v himself_o unto_o and_o in_o our_o heart_n both_o in_o the_o enlighten_v of_o our_o mind_n and_o renew_v of_o our_o will_n and_o affection_n as_o these_o scripture_n
