as_o their_o doctrine_n be_v subject_v for_o the_o judge_n of_o it_o in_o a_o especial_a manner_n to_o the_o teach_v elder_n of_o that_o church_n and_o when_o it_o be_v thus_o caution_v we_o see_v no_o more_o incongruity_n for_o such_o to_o speak_v to_o a_o point_n of_o divinity_n in_o a_o congregation_n then_o for_o man_n of_o like_a ability_n to_o speak_v to_o and_o debate_n of_o matter_n of_o religion_n in_o a_o assembly_n of_o divine_n which_o this_o reverend_a author_n allow_v and_o here_o with_o we_o be_v practise_v again_o in_o all_o humility_n we_o yet_o see_v not_o that_o assembly_n of_o apostle_n elder_n and_o brethren_n act_n 15._o to_o have_v be_v a_o formal_a synod_n of_o messenger_n send_v out_o of_o a_o set_n and_o combine_a association_n from_o neighbour_n church_n but_o a_o assembly_n of_o the_o church_n of_o jerusalem_n and_o of_o the_o messenger_n from_o the_o church_n of_o antioch_n alone_o that_o be_v far_o remote_a each_o from_o other_o and_o elective_o now_o meet_v nor_o be_v we_o for_o the_o present_a convince_v that_o the_o apostle_n to_o the_o end_n to_o make_v this_o a_o precedent_n of_o such_o a_o formal_a synod_n do_v act_n these_o two_o church_n and_o their_o elder_n stand_v in_o this_o conjunction_n abstract_v from_o they_o that_o influence_n and_o impression_n which_o that_o superior_a sphere_n the_o apostle_n who_o be_v then_o present_a have_v in_o this_o transaction_n this_o to_o have_v be_v a_o consultation_n as_o the_o learned_a author_n do_v also_o acknowledge_v it_o to_o have_v be_v in_o its_o first_o original_n only_o rise_v up_o to_o be_v a_o general_n council_n by_o the_o apostle_n presence_n they_o be_v elder_n of_o all_o the_o church_n or_o if_o you_o will_v a_o reference_n by_o way_n of_o arbitration_n for_o decide_v of_o that_o great_a controversy_n rise_v among_o they_o at_o antioch_n which_o they_o find_v to_o be_v too_o difficult_a for_o themselves_o and_o so_o to_o be_v a_o warrant_n indeed_o for_o all_o such_o way_n of_o communion_n between_o all_o or_o any_o especial_o neighbour_n church_n and_o upon_o like_a occasion_n to_o be_v ordinance_n furnish_v with_o ministerial_a power_n for_o such_o end_n and_o purpose_n our_o reason_n for_o this_o we_o be_v now_o many_o way_n bind_v up_o from_o give_v the_o account_n of_o in_o this_o way_n and_o at_o this_o season_n but_o however_o if_o it_o shall_v have_v be_v so_o intend_v as_o the_o learned_a author_n judge_v and_o the_o apostle_n to_o have_v act_v therein_o as_o ordinary_a elder_n yet_o the_o line_n of_o that_o proportion_n of_o power_n that_o can_v be_v draw_v from_o that_o pattern_n will_v extend_v no_o further_o than_o a_o ministerial_a doctrinal_a power_n etc._n etc._n in_o such_o assembly_n excommunication_n which_o be_v the_o second_o we_o take_v the_o boldness_n to_o cast_v a_o weak_a beam_n of_o our_o dim_a light_n upon_o either_o of_o these_o &_o to_o present_v how_o these_o have_v lie_v state_v in_o our_o thought_n to_o this_o end_n that_o we_o may_v haply_o prevent_v some_o reader_n mistake_n especial_o about_o the_o former_a for_o the_o first_o we_o conceive_v the_o elder_n and_o brethren_n in_o each_o congregation_n as_o they_o be_v usual_o in_o the_o new_a testament_n thus_o mention_v distinct_o apart_o and_o this_o when_o their_o meeting_n together_o be_v speak_v of_o so_o they_o make_v in_o each_o congregation_n two_o distinct_a interest_n though_o meet_v in_o one_o assembly_n as_o the_o interest_n of_o the_o common-council_n or_o body_n of_o the_o people_n in_o some_o corporation_n be_v distinct_a from_o that_o of_o the_o company_n of_o alderman_n so_o as_o without_o the_o consent_n and_o concurrence_n of_o both_o nothing_o be_v esteem_v as_o a_o church_n act_n but_o so_o as_o in_o this_o company_n of_o elder_n this_o power_n be_v proper_o authority_n but_o in_o the_o people_n be_v a_o privilege_n or_o power_n a_o apparent_a difference_n between_o these_o two_o be_v evident_a to_o we_o by_o this_o that_o two_o or_o three_o or_o more_o select_a person_n shall_v be_v put_v into_o a_o office_n and_o betrust_v with_o a_o entire_a interest_n of_o
