be_v the_o height_n and_o excellency_n of_o faith_n such_o a_o degree_n that_o many_o gracious_a soul_n be_v long_o ere_o they_o attain_v to_o it_o yea_o have_v only_o some_o short_a glimpse_n of_o in_o this_o life_n and_o though_o some_o arrive_n to_o a_o great_a measure_n of_o joy_n and_o assurance_n in_o the_o holy_a ghost_n yet_o not_o enjoy_v by_o any_o in_o a_o constant_a renour_n while_o a_o bitter_a root_n of_o unbelief_n remain_v in_o we_o i_o do_v not_o here_o intend_v to_o give_v forth_o the_o consequent_a evidence_n and_o fruit_n of_o faith_n only_o a_o word_n or_o two_o as_o to_o the_o management_n of_o a_o weak_a faith_n while_o thou_o be_v thus_o in_o thy_o doubt_n or_o if_o faith_n lie_v as_o it_o be_v dead_a and_o do_v not_o act_v lively_a upon_o christ_n though_o in_o such_o a_o case_n thou_o be_v to_o be_v stir_v up_o every_o grace_n yet_o do_v not_o stand_v pore_v upon_o such_o a_o heavy_a frame_n of_o heart_n nor_o do_v thou_o think_v to_o lift_v up_o the_o hand_n of_o faith_n by_o thy_o own_o power_n but_o go_v and_o lie_v before_o christ_n go_v forth_o from_o thy_o own_o heart_n to_o he_o to_o requicken_v the_o habit_n of_o faith_n that_o thou_o may_v draw_v new_a life_n from_o he_o and_o this_o follow_v he_o for_o and_o then_o though_o faith_n be_v even_o as_o a_o wither_a hand_n as_o sometime_o it_o be_v christ_n will_v speak_v to_o thy_o soul_n as_o to_o the_o man_n with_o a_o wither_a hand_n in_o the_o gospel_n mat._n 12.10_o stretch_v forth_o thy_o hand_n and_o thou_o shall_v do_v so_o and_o embrace_v christ_n in_o thy_o arm_n and_o thy_o affection_n run_v forth_o lively_a upon_o he_o it_o may_v be_v object_v be_v it_o safe_a then_o to_o let_v doubt_n and_o fear_n lie_v and_o be_v careless_a of_o they_o see_v thus_o mix_v they_o do_v evidence_n truth_n of_o faith_n no_o but_o labour_n to_o get_v they_o suppress_v and_o subdue_v by_o the_o power_n and_o spirit_n of_o christ_n though_o it_o be_v not_o absolute_o thy_o duty_n to_o have_v assurance_n yet_o it_o be_v thy_o duty_n to_o labour_n and_o give_v all_o diligence_n to_o gain_v it_o 2_o pet._n 1.10_o but_o especial_o beware_v of_o such_o thing_n which_o do_v deaden_a and_o stagger_v faith_n and_o some_o of_o those_o i_o will_v point_v out_o to_o thou_o as_o to_o the_o case_n of_o a_o young_a convert_n 1._o after_o conviction_n enlighten_v and_o in_o some_o measure_n a_o self-emptying_a and_o renounce_v as_o have_v be_v show_v and_o so_o a_o sight_n of_o freegrace_n and_o christ_n
