which_o comprehend_v both_o the_o present_a forgiveness_n of_o our_o sin_n and_o power_n against_o they_o and_o grace_n to_o persevere_v in_o goodness_n to_o the_o end_n and_o our_o final_a absolution_n at_o the_o great_a day_n and_o the_o glorious_a and_o merciful_a reward_n of_o eternal_a life_n and_o likewise_o the_o condition_n upon_o which_o this_o blessing_n be_v promise_v viz._n the_o penitent_a acknowledgement_n of_o our_o sin_n to_o god_n with_o such_o shame_n and_o sorrow_n for_o they_o as_o produce_v a_o sincere_a resolution_n of_o leave_v they_o and_o return_v to_o a_o better_a course_n and_o the_o actual_a forsake_v of_o they_o which_o involve_v in_o it_o our_o actual_a return_n to_o our_o duty_n and_o a_o constant_a and_o sincere_a obedience_n to_o the_o law_n of_o god_n in_o the_o future_a course_n of_o our_o life_n i_o shall_v now_o make_v some_o application_n of_o this_o discourse_n to_o ourselves_o i_o be_o sure_a we_o be_v all_o near_o concern_v in_o vast_a significancy_n of_o those_o expression_n fear_v he_o who_o after_o he_o have_v kill_v can_v destroy_v both_o body_n and_o soul_n in_o hell_n and_o again_o it_o be_v a_o fearful_a thing_n to_o sin_n and_o seduce_v they_o from_o their_o duty_n but_o although_o it_o seem_v very_o strange_a and_o almost_o incredible_a that_o man_n shall_v believe_v these_o thing_n and_o yet_o live_v wicked_a and_o impious_a life_n yet_o because_o i_o have_v no_o mind_n and_o god_n know_v there_o be_v no_o need_n to_o increase_v the_o number_n of_o infidel_n in_o this_o age_n i_o shall_v choose_v rather_o to_o impute_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o the_o wickedness_n that_o be_v in_o the_o world_n to_o the_o inconsiderateness_n of_o man_n than_o to_o their_o unbelief_n i_o will_v grant_v that_o they_o do_v the_o great_a favour_n for_o innumerable_a benefit_n for_o infinite_a mercy_n and_o patience_n and_o forbearance_n towards_o we_o in_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o holy_a and_o just_a god_n who_o be_v at_o the_o far_a distance_n from_o sin_n and_o the_o great_a and_o most_o implacable_a enemy_n to_o it_o in_o the_o whole_a world_n and_o who_o will_v one_o day_n punish_v all_o our_o fault_n and_o expose_v we_o to_o open_a shame_n
for_o they_o who_o will_v bring_v every_o work_n into_o judgement_n and_o every_o secret_a sin_n that_o ever_o we_o commit_v and_o take_v vengeance_n upon_o we_o for_o all_o our_o iniquity_n so_o that_o whenever_o we_o sin_v we_o shameful_o entreat_v ourselves_o and_o give_v the_o deep_a wound_n to_o our_o reputation_n in_o the_o esteem_n of_o he_o who_o be_v the_o most_o competent_a judge_n of_o what_o be_v true_o honourable_a and_o praiseworthy_a and_o clothe_v ourselves_o with_o shame_n and_o dishonour_n we_o be_v ashamed_a of_o poverty_n because_o the_o poor_a man_n be_v despise_v and_o almost_o ridiculous_a in_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o proud_a and_o covetous_a rich_a man_n who_o riches_n be_v his_o high_a tower_n and_o make_v he_o apt_a to_o look_v down_o upon_o the_o poor_a man_n that_o be_v below_o he_o with_o contempt_n and_o scorn_n we_o be_v ashamed_a of_o a_o dangerous_a and_o contagious_a disease_n because_o all_o man_n fly_v infectious_a company_n but_o a_o man_n may_v be_v poor_a or_o sick_a by_o misfortune_n but_o no_o man_n be_v wicked_a but_o by_o his_o own_o fault_n and_o wilful_a choice_n ill-natured_a and_o inconsiderate_a man_n will_v be_v apt_a to_o contemn_v we_o for_o our_o poverty_n and_o affliction_n in_o any_o kind_n but_o by_o our_o vice_n we_o render_v ourselves_o odious_a to_o god_n and_o to_o all_o good_a and_o considerate_a man_n ii_o neither_o by_o the_o apprehension_n of_o danger_n nor_o of_o disgrace_n and_o who_o can_v at_o once_o secure_o neglect_v both_o his_o safety_n and_o reputation_n hear_v how_o the_o prophet_n represent_v the_o deplorable_a case_n of_o such_o person_n isa_n 3.9_o the_o show_n of_o their_o countenance_n bear_v witness_n against_o they_o in_o the_o hebrew_n it_n be_v the_o hardness_n of_o be_v not_o ashamed_a of_o their_o impiety_n shall_v be_v ashamed_a of_o their_o impudence_n and_o shall_v at_o least_o blush_n at_o this_o that_o they_o can_v do_v the_o vile_a and_o the_o most_o ever_o he_o reflect_v upon_o himself_o he_o be_v offend_v and_o angry_a with_o himself_o his_o life_n and_o all_o his_o action_n be_v uneasy_a and_o displease_v to_o he_o and_o there_o be_v no_o way_n
