so_o his_o disciple_n they_o may_v have_v room_n to_o act_v their_o grace_n and_o do_v some_o singular_a thing_n for_o the_o lord_n in_o the_o five_o of_o matthew_n when_o christ_n put_v they_o upon_o this_o duty_n there_o say_v christ_n what_o singular_a thing_n do_v you_o if_o you_o love_v they_o that_o love_v you_o what_o great_a matter_n be_v that_o the_o publican_n do_v the_o same_o the_o very_a heathen_a do_v the_o same_o you_o wish_v good_a and_o do_v good_a to_o they_o that_o do_v the_o like_a to_o you_o that_o be_v no_o great_a matter_n but_o what_o singular_a thing_n do_v you_o christ_n will_v have_v all_o his_o disciple_n to_o do_v something_o more_o than_o the_o world_n do_v and_o he_o be_v a_o monster_n among_o man_n that_o will_v not_o do_v good_a when_o he_o can_v when_o good_a be_v do_v unto_o he_o but_o christ_n he_o will_v have_v his_o disciple_n his_o people_n do_v some_o singular_a good_a thing_n for_o he_o the_o lord_n have_v order_v it_o that_o they_o shall_v meet_v with_o wrong_n and_o injury_n more_o than_o any_o people_n in_o the_o world_n for_o the_o trial_n of_o their_o grace_n offence_n must_v come_v there_o be_v need_n of_o they_o great_a necessity_n there_o shall_v be_v offence_n in_o this_o sense_n that_o wrong_n and_o injury_n shall_v be_v do_v that_o the_o lord_n by_o this_o may_v try_v and_o exercise_v the_o grace_n of_o his_o people_n there_o will_v be_v else_o no_o room_n for_o the_o trial_n and_o exercise_n or_o at_o least_o not_o so_o much_o for_o the_o trial_n and_o exercise_n of_o love_n meekness_n patience_n forbearance_n long-suffering_a forgive_a and_o forbear_v one_o another_o if_o there_o be_v not_o wrong_n and_o injury_n there_o will_v be_v no_o room_n for_o the_o exercise_n of_o these_o grace_n christ_n will_v have_v his_o people_n put_v upon_o it_o to_o do_v some_o singular_a thing_n as_o many_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n will_v say_v well_o let_v i_o alone_o as_o i_o be_o and_o i_o be_o as_o quiet_a as_o any_o man_n live_v do_v not_o disturb_v i_o or_o do_v not_o wrong_v i_o and_o you_o shall_v live_v as_o peaceable_o and_o as_o quiet_a as_o any_o people_n in_o the_o world_n ay_o here_o be_v good_a neighbourhood_n but_o this_o savour_v not_o of_o grace_n christ_n will_v teach_v his_o people_n to_o do_v something_o singular_a the_o world_n say_v you_o shall_v have_v blow_n for_o blow_n and_o wrong_v for_o wrong_n and_o injury_n for_o injury_n but_o let_v they_o alone_o and_o you_o shall_v be_v quiet_a here_o be_v no_o more_o than_o the_o wild_a beast_n in_o the_o wilderness_n will_v here_o do_v be_v no_o trial_n of_o grace_n where_o be_v your_o love_n your_o meekness_n your_o patience_n your_o long-suffering_a the_o lord_n will_v have_v his_o people_n in_o the_o exercise_n of_o grace_n to_o do_v something_o more_o than_o the_o world_n object_n but_o you_o will_v say_v may_v not_o a_o natural_a man_n do_v this_o that_o have_v mere_a nature_n quiet_a nature_n pass_v by_o of_o wrong_n and_o injury_n answ_n i_o answer_v first_o of_o all_o there_o be_v some_o natural_a man_n walk_v up_o to_o their_o principle_n though_o there_o be_v no_o natural_a man_n in_o all_o thing_n walk_v up_o to_o their_o light_n yet_o there_o be_v some_o natural_a man_n walk_v up_o to_o their_o principle_n and_o it_o be_v true_a a_o christian_n have_v a_o more_o excellent_a principle_n than_o the_o natural_a man_n which_o will_v carry_v he_o out_o if_o well_o improve_v far_o beyond_o all_o the_o act_n of_o natural_a man_n ay_o but_o when_o a_o christian_a do_v not_o improve_v his_o principle_n when_o he_o do_v not_o walk_v up_o according_a to_o what_o the_o lord_n have_v give_v he_o and_o the_o natural_a man_n do_v improve_v his_o principle_n and_o walk_v up_o unto_o it_o the_o natural_a man_n the_o mere_a natural_a man_n may_v be_v a_o shame_n unto_o some_o christian_n a_o man_n that_o have_v a_o principle_n of_o reason_n he_o have_v a_o more_o noble_a principle_n than_o a_o principle_n of_o sense_n yet_o if_o the_o principle_n of_o reason_n lie_v hide_v and_o be_v cloud_v it_o be_v possible_a that_o he_o may_v then_o act_v beneath_o a_o
in_o a_o corrupt_a time_n i_o say_v to_o practice_v those_o way_n of_o holiness_n and_o righteousness_n and_o hold_v forth_o those_o grace_n which_o be_v contrary_a to_o the_o wickedness_n of_o the_o time_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v job_n great_a commendation_n that_o he_o be_v upright_o that_o he_o be_v a_o upright_a man_n in_o a_o crooked_a generation_n he_o live_v among_o a_o crooked_a people_n and_o it_o be_v the_o great_a commendation_n of_o noah_n that_o he_o practise_v righteousness_n it_o be_v say_v he_o be_v a_o just_a man_n when_o the_o world_n be_v most_o unjust_a it_o be_v with_o god_n in_o a_o corrupt_a time_n be_v very_o please_a and_o acceptable_a but_o again_o 3._o three_o to_o walk_v with_o god_n in_o a_o corrupt_a time_n be_v then_o when_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n shall_v stir_v up_o other_o to_o cleave_v close_o to_o god_n at_o that_o time_n this_o be_v part_n of_o their_o service_n at_o such_o time_n to_o endeavour_v to_o strengthen_v and_o to_o hold_v up_o the_o hand_n and_o the_o heart_n of_o one_o another_o in_o decline_v and_o sinful_a time_n you_o may_v remember_v the_o place_n before_o mal._n 3._o 16._o then_o they_o that_o fear_v the_o lord_n will_v write_v they_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o be_v forget_v oh_o i_o remember_v the_o kindness_n of_o thy_o youth_n jer._n 2._o 2._o and_o the_o love_n of_o thy_o espousal_n when_o thou_o follow_v life_n of_o christ_n be_v in_o that_o soul_n that_o be_v enable_v to_o walk_v with_o god_n in_o evil_a time_n to_o go_v against_o the_o stream_n of_o corruption_n and_o looseness_n 2._o second_o again_o as_o it_o be_v a_o argument_n of_o life_n so_o it_o be_v a_o argument_n of_o strength_n that_o soul_n have_v get_v much_o strength_n from_o god_n
needful_a that_o so_o long_o as_o they_o be_v in_o the_o body_n they_o shall_v be_v in_o these_o conflict_n affliction_n and_o temptation_n than_o the_o lord_n sometime_o see_v it_o best_o to_o shorten_v some_o of_o their_o day_n to_o bring_v they_o unto_o himself_o but_o you_o must_v take_v this_o caution_n take_v heed_n you_o do_v limit_v the_o lord_n to_o this_o way_n for_o though_o god_n do_v take_v many_o of_o his_o servant_n this_o way_n by_o death_n yet_o i_o say_v they_o ought_v not_o to_o limit_v the_o holy_a one_o of_o israel_n let_v not_o they_o say_v as_o job_n wherefore_o be_v life_n give_v to_o a_o man_n that_o be_v in_o affliction_n wherefore_o be_v life_n give_v to_o a_o man_n who_o way_n be_v hide_v for_o if_o god_n continue_v life_n in_o afflict_a condition_n he_o see_v good_a reason_n for_o it_o and_o therefore_o i_o say_v you_o may_v not_o absolute_o desire_v death_n because_o of_o your_o affliction_n because_o of_o your_o temptation_n because_o of_o your_o buffet_n not_o absolute_o to_o limit_n god_n in_o this_o way_n of_o deliverance_n for_o though_o god_n do_v use_v this_o way_n many_o time_n yet_o he_o will_v not_o be_v confine_v to_o it_o and_o though_o the_o lord_n do_v keep_v you_o in_o affliction_n he_o see_v it_o be_v for_o his_o honour_n it_o be_v for_o his_o own_o glory_n that_o he_o may_v show_v his_o power_n and_o goodness_n his_o wisdom_n in_o direct_v you_o his_o power_n in_o support_v you_o in_o strengthen_v you_o in_o deliver_v you_o and_o in_o make_v you_o able_a to_o hold_v out_o in_o such_o difficult_a afflict_a condition_n the_o lord_n can_v find_v many_o way_n of_o deliverance_n therefore_o do_v say_v you_o lord_n take_v away_o my_o life_n my_o affliction_n be_v great_a i_o see_v no_o way_n how_o i_o shall_v come_v out_o of_o it_o this_o be_v sinful_a for_o god_n have_v many_o way_n i_o say_v god_n choose_v this_o way_n sometime_o to_o free_v his_o people_n from_o all_o their_o corruption_n and_o live_v in_o evil_a time_n time_n in_o which_o iniquity_n do_v abound_v than_o god_n fetch_v home_n many_o of_o his_o servant_n in_o love_n it_o be_v a_o very_a corrupt_a time_n that_o enoch_n live_v in_o the_o world_n be_v corrupt_a and_o fill_v with_o violence_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v in_o love_n to_o enoch_n that_o god_n shorten_v his_o course_n the_o lord_n know_v how_o afflictive_a it_o be_v for_o his_o servant_n to_o live_v in_o a_o evil_a world_n woe_n be_v i_o say_v the_o psalmist_n that_o i_o be_o constrain_v to_o sojourn_v in_o mesech_n and_o to_o dwell_v in_o the_o tent_n of_o kedar_n psal_n 120._o 5._o that_o righteous_a soul_n be_v vex_v woe_n be_v i_o etc._n etc._n nay_o the_o lord_n consider_v that_o possible_o his_o own_o people_n may_v be_v carry_v down_o the_o stream_n through_o the_o strength_n and_o violence_n of_o the_o corruption_n of_o the_o time_n that_o they_o may_v be_v draw_v aside_o from_o their_o steadfastness_n it_o be_v possible_a that_o even_o they_o may_v be_v corrupt_v even_a god_n own_o people_n may_v be_v corrupt_v in_o a_o corrupt_a generation_n the_o lord_n consider_v this_o and_o therefore_o many_o time_n he_o take_v they_o away_o in_o a_o abundance_n of_o love_n and_o mercy_n when_o the_o thistle_n and_o nettle_n do_v so_o enclose_v the_o lily_n that_o they_o hinder_v their_o growth_n and_o communicate_v of_o their_o ill_a favour_n unto_o they_o than_o the_o lord_n see_v its_o high_a time_n to_o remove_v to_o transplant_v his_o lily_n into_o a_o better_a soil_n and_o that_o be_v a_o second_o particular_a why_o the_o 3._o again_o three_o sometime_o god_n shorten_v the_o day_n of_o his_o servant_n in_o love_n that_o they_o may_v not_o see_v when_o great_a desolation_n be_v come_v either_o upon_o their_o friend_n their_o relation_n their_o family_n or_o upon_o the_o kingdom_n they_o live_v in_o the_o lord_n in_o mercy_n call_v home_o those_o that_o do_v walk_v faithful_o with_o he_o and_o thus_o it_o be_v with_o jeroboam_n child_n in_o 1_o king_n 14._o 13._o jeroboam_n child_n be_v take_v away_o you_o have_v the_o reason_n give_v there_o because_o great_a desolation_n be_v come_v upon_o the_o family_n see_v what_o desolation_n he_o will_v bring_v upon_o the_o family_n and_o so_o when_o god_n bring_v desolation_n upon_o kingdom_n and_o nation_n he_o sometime_o call_v home_o his_o own_o people_n good_a king_n josiah_n a_o gracious_a man_n be_v cut_v off_o betimes_o because_o the_o lord_n be_v about_o to_o bring_v desolation_n upon_o judah_n a_o great_a and_o fearful_a captivity_n which_o come_v present_o after_o when_o he_o be_v go_v but_o he_o fear_v the_o lord_n and_o be_v fearful_a when_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n come_v to_o he_o and_o therefore_o god_n take_v he_o that_o he_o may_v not_o see_v that_o desolation_n with_o his_o eye_n that_o sad_a desolation_n that_o god_n will_v bring_v upon_o judah_n and_o so_o say_v the_o prophet_n isa_n 57_o 1._o he_o give_v this_o as_o a_o reason_n why_o god_n take_v away_o some_o of_o his_o servant_n betimes_o the_o righteous_a perish_v and_o no_o man_n lay_v it_o to_o heart_n and_o the_o merciful_a man_n be_v take_v away_o then_o god_n take_v away_o many_o righteous_a and_o merciful_a man_n the_o husbandman_n when_o he_o see_v a_o storm_n be_v a_o come_n he_o make_v haste_n to_o gather_v in_o his_o corn_n especial_o that_o which_o be_v most_o ready_a to_o shake_v that_o which_o be_v most_o like_a to_o take_v harm_n by_o the_o wet_a that_o he_o will_v in_o withal_o and_o thus_o the_o lord_n do_v with_o he_o when_o he_o see_v great_a desolation_n that_o may_v even_o shake_v those_o that_o be_v his_o own_o 4._o four_o god_n take_v way_n some_o of_o his_o servant_n that_o he_o may_v prevent_v their_o uneven_a walk_n and_o their_o decline_a and_o turn_v aside_o from_o he_o the_o lord_n love_v to_o take_v his_o servant_n when_o they_o be_v at_o the_o best_a he_o pull_v the_o rose_n when_o it_o be_v most_o sweet_a sometime_o the_o lord_n see_v many_o of_o his_o servant_n that_o if_o they_o shall_v stand_v long_o they_o will_v decline_v and_o grow_v worse_o sad_a experience_n do_v teach_v it_o now_o therefore_o it_o be_v that_o the_o lord_n take_v they_o at_o the_o fit_a time_n that_o he_o may_v prevent_v that_o dishonour_n that_o otherwise_o may_v be_v bring_v to_o his_o name_n if_o he_o shall_v suffer_v they_o to_o stand_v long_o in_o the_o world_n they_o may_v happy_o blurr_n their_o profession_n they_o may_v dishonour_v god_n they_o may_v harden_v their_o own_o heart_n and_o therefore_o the_o lord_n love_v to_o take_v they_o when_o they_o be_v full_o ripe_a and_o when_o he_o see_v such_o a_o one_o ready_a to_o decline_v and_o grow_v worse_o and_o to_o lose_v of_o his_o sweetness_n and_o of_o his_o savour_n it_o may_v blurr_n the_o name_n of_o god_n dishonour_v he_o in_o the_o world_n why_o the_o lord_n to_o prevent_v all_o this_o take_v away_o sometime_o such_o a_o servant_n of_o he_o in_o abundance_n of_o love_n and_o mercy_n and_o so_o he_o take_v away_o asa_n and_o so_o jehosaphat_n they_o be_v good_a man_n but_o they_o begin_v to_o decline_v in_o their_o old_a day_n asa_n be_v a_o good_a man_n his_o heart_n be_v perfect_a it_o be_v the_o testimony_n that_o god_n give_v of_o he_o all_o his_o day_n but_o he_o go_v and_o decline_v he_o go_v and_o rely_v on_o the_o arm_n of_o flesh_n when_o the_o prophet_n tell_v he_o of_o it_o he_o be_v angry_a with_o the_o prophet_n he_o imprison_v the_o prophet_n and_o he_o begin_v to_o smite_v the_o people_n and_o god_n smite_v asa_n with_o a_o disease_n in_o his_o foot_n and_o so_o take_v he_o away_o and_o it_o be_v best_a for_o asa_n that_o he_o be_v take_v away_o before_o a_o
