can_v make_v a_o man_n happy_a if_o a_o man_n have_v a_o hundred_o time_n more_o than_o he_o need_v he_o can_v but_o enjoy_v it_o according_a to_o the_o capacity_n of_o a_o man_n for_o if_o he_o consult_v his_o own_o happiness_n and_o will_v tru_o enjoy_v what_o he_o have_v he_o must_v eat_v and_o drink_v within_o the_o bound_n of_o temperance_n and_o health_n and_o must_v wear_v no_o more_o clothes_n than_o be_v for_o his_o convenience_n it_o be_v true_a he_o have_v wherewithal_o to_o put_v on_o a_o new_a suit_n every_o day_n which_o be_v to_o be_v uneasy_a all_o the_o day_n of_o his_o life_n and_o may_v drink_v if_o he_o please_v every_o time_n out_o of_o a_o new_a cup_n which_o will_v be_v a_o vain_a expense_n and_o a_o great_a trouble_n to_o his_o servant_n without_o any_o all_o the_o felicity_n that_o be_v in_o a_o great_a fortune_n what_o we_o enjoy_v be_v we_o but_o what_o we_o lie_v up_o be_v from_o that_o time_n not_o we_o but_o some_o body_n else_o he_o that_o heap_v up_o riches_n and_o enjoy_v they_o not_o be_v rich_a only_a for_o his_o heir_n but_o a_o beggar_n for_o himself_o we_o be_v apt_a to_o pity_v poor_a man_n and_o too_o apt_a to_o despise_v they_o but_o sure_o no_o man_n condition_n be_v more_o to_o be_v deplore_v than_o he_o who_o starve_v himself_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o plenty_n and_o be_v surround_v with_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n turn_v they_o into_o the_o great_a curse_n for_o it_o be_v a_o much_o great_a curse_n not_o to_o use_v a_o estate_n when_o one_o have_v it_o than_o not_o to_o have_v it_o it_o be_v like_o a_o plentiful_a table_n without_o a_o appetite_n but_o it_o may_v be_v it_o be_v a_o great_a happiness_n to_o have_v a_o great_a estate_n though_o a_o man_n never_o use_v it_o the_o pleasure_n of_o see_v and_o the_o other_o only_o imaginary_a i_o doubt_v not_o many_o covetous_a man_n take_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o pleasure_n in_o ruminate_v upon_o their_o wealth_n and_o in_o recounting_a what_o they_o have_v but_o they_o have_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o torment_a care_n and_o fear_n about_o it_o and_o if_o they_o have_v not_o it_o be_v very_o hard_a to_o understand_v where_o the_o reasonable_a pleasure_n and_o happiness_n lie_v of_o have_v thing_n to_o no_o end_n it_o be_v at_o the_o best_a like_o that_o of_o some_o foolish_a bird_n which_o they_o say_v take_v pleasure_n in_o steal_v money_n that_o they_o may_v hide_v it_o as_o if_o it_o be_v worth_a the_o while_n for_o man_n to_o take_v pain_n to_o dig_v silver_n out_o of_o the_o earth_n for_o no_o other_o purpose_n but_o to_o melt_v it_o down_o and_o stamp_v it_o and_o bury_v it_o there_o again_o but_o many_o necessity_n may_v happen_v which_o we_o can_v foresee_v and_o it_o be_v good_a to_o provide_v against_o they_o there_o be_v nothing_o so_o bad_a but_o something_o may_v be_v say_v in_o excuse_n of_o it_o and_o i_o do_v not_o deny_v but_o that_o a_o provident_a care_n against_o the_o common_a accident_n of_o humane_a life_n be_v very_o commendable_a but_o it_o be_v unreasonable_a to_o think_v of_o provide_v against_o all_o possibility_n which_o it_o be_v impossible_a either_o to_o foresee_v or_o prevent_v be_v all_o this_o provision_n make_v when_o that_o which_o be_v so_o long_a a_o time_n a_o get_n and_o lay_v up_o be_v lose_v at_o once_o beside_o that_o it_o be_v not_o easy_a to_o conceive_v what_o necessity_n can_v happen_v to_o a_o covetous_a man_n to_o give_v he_o a_o occasion_n of_o use_v his_o estate_n he_o can_v find_v in_o his_o heart_n to_o bestow_v it_o upon_o himself_o in_o such_o it_o be_v not_o every_o body_n talon_n to_o be_v wealthy_a and_o wise_a rich_a and_o innocent_a 2._o as_o for_o the_o outward_a evil_n of_o this_o life_n such_o as_o want_v and_o contempt_n bodily_a pain_n and_o disease_n unhappiness_n in_o friend_n and_o relation_n a_o great_a estate_n be_v by_o no_o mean_n a_o sufficient_a security_n or_o remedy_n to_o a_o covetous_a man_n against_o these_o one_o will_v think_v that_o if_o riches_n be_v good_a for_o any_o thing_n they_o be_v a_o very_a proper_a remedy_n against_o this_o evil_a and_o a_o most_o certain_a and_o infallible_a cure_n of_o it_o but_o experience_n tell_v we_o quite_o otherwise_o socrates_n be_v wont_a to_o say_v that_o to_o want_v nothing_o be_v the_o privilege_n of_o the_o deity_n and_o proper_a to_o god_n alone_o but_o do_v almost_o starve_v themselves_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o plenty_n and_o abundance_n there_o be_v no_o great_a sign_n of_o poverty_n than_o to_o be_v deep_o in_o debt_n now_o the_o covetous_a man_n live_v and_o die_v in_o debt_n to_o himself_o some_o man_n have_v be_v so_o shameful_o penurious_a and_o stingy_a to_o themselves_o as_o even_o to_o die_v to_o save_v charge_n which_o yet_o perhaps_o be_v the_o most_o generous_a thing_n they_o ever_o do_v in_o their_o whole_a life_n in_o respect_n to_o the_o world_n because_o by_o this_o mean_n some_o body_n may_v come_v to_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o their_o estate_n and_o that_o great_a dunghill_n which_o they_o have_v be_v so_o long_o in_o rake_v together_o may_v by_o this_o mean_n come_v to_o be_v spread_v abroad_o for_o the_o public_a benefit_n so_o that_o if_o a_o covetous_a man_n be_v possess_v of_o the_o wealth_n of_o both_o the_o indies_n all_o this_o will_v not_o free_v he_o from_o want_n a_o poor_a man_n want_n may_v be_v satisfy_v when_o he_o have_v obtain_v what_o he_o want_v but_o the_o covetous_a man_n labour_v of_o a_o incurable_a want_n because_o he_o want_v that_o which_o he_o have_v as_o well_o as_o that_o which_o he_o have_v not_o 2._o as_o for_o contempt_n riches_n will_v not_o secure_v a_o covetous_a man_n against_o this_o neither_o nay_o so_o far_o be_v it_o from_o that_o that_o he_o be_v common_o be_v liable_a to_o as_o many_o disease_n and_o as_o sharp_a pain_n as_o the_o poor_a and_o they_o have_v common_o less_o patience_n to_o bear_v they_o than_o the_o poor_a because_o they_o have_v not_o be_v enure_v to_o other_o sort_n of_o evil_n they_o that_o have_v be_v accustom_v to_o labour_n be_v general_o best_o fit_v to_o bear_v pain_n the_o rich_a be_v common_o more_o tender_a and_o delicate_a and_o have_v a_o quick_a sense_n of_o pain_n more_o matter_n and_o great_a quantity_n of_o humour_n to_o feed_v a_o disease_n and_o to_o inflame_v it_o to_o a_o great_a height_n i_o must_v not_o here_o forget_v that_o there_o be_v a_o sort_n of_o rich_a man_n i_o mean_v the_o penurious_a miser_n who_o starve_v themselves_o more_o than_o the_o poor_a and_o fare_v many_o time_n more_o hardly_o and_o for_o this_o reason_n though_o they_o be_v not_o in_o danger_n of_o the_o disease_n that_o come_v from_o intemperance_n and_o a_o plentiful_a table_n yet_o they_o be_v liable_a to_o the_o disease_n which_o proceed_v from_o starve_v and_o emptiness_n which_o the_o physician_n say_v be_v more_o dangerous_a than_o the_o other_o so_o that_o neither_o the_o prodigal_n nor_o the_o niggardly_a rich_a man_n be_v secure_v from_o bodily_a pain_n and_o disease_n by_o a_o great_a estate_n 4._o neither_o will_v riches_n secure_v a_o man_n from_o be_v unhappy_a in_o his_o friend_n
