voice_n be_v pronounce_v against_o they_o they_o shall_v pass_v away_o with_o the_o great_a shout_n that_o ever_o be_v because_o they_o dare_v not_o pretend_v ignorance_n for_o his_o ignorance_n for_o none_o other_o cause_n but_o because_o they_o see_v god_n dwell_v in_o he_o bodily_a they_o see_v that_o glorious_a godhead_n dwell_v in_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n howbeit_o they_o cast_v up_o his_o kindred_n to_o he_o yet_o they_o hate_v he_o not_o because_o of_o the_o flesh_n but_o because_o god_n dwell_v in_o he_o the_o thing_n that_o the_o man_n of_o this_o world_n hate_v most_o be_v the_o god_n of_o heaven_n &_o if_o they_o hate_v any_o creature_n of_o god_n it_o be_v for_o god_n cause_n it_o be_v a_o wonderful_a thing_n that_o such_o a_o thought_n can_v be_v in_o the_o hart_n creature_n but_o they_o can_v abide_v the_o sight_n of_o god_n now_o look_v our_o nature_n darkness_n &_o light_a sight_n not_o so_o much_o heat_n &_o cold_a fight_n not_o so_o much_o together_o as_o god_n and_o our_o nature_n and_o this_o battle_n shall_v never_o have_v a_o end_n no_o not_o when_o the_o miserable_a caitiff_n be_v in_o hell_n whereon_o rise_v hell_n but_o upon_o the_o dissension_n jesus_n present_a in_o their_o heart_n when_o they_o lie_v down_o and_o when_o they_o rise_v howbeit_o they_o have_v all_o the_o world_n they_o have_v no_o peace_n no_o peace_n to_o the_o wicked_a say_v the_o lord_n esay_n 57.21_o howbeit_o they_o seem_v to_o have_v peace_n they_o have_v none_o as_o for_o the_o godly_a that_o have_v once_o find_v his_o presence_n and_o have_v once_o taste_v of_o that_o joy_n which_o be_v in_o his_o face_n of_o that_o light_n which_o come_v from_o his_o face_n and_o once_o he_o be_v take_v from_o they_o give_v they_o all_o this_o world_n and_o all_o the_o pleasure_n of_o this_o world_n they_o shall_v have_v no_o pleasure_n they_o will_v never_o be_v blithe_a till_o they_o get_v a_o sight_n of_o their_o lord_n their_o soul_n die_v without_o his_o face_n of_o comparison_n for_o he_o say_v as_o you_o believe_v in_o god_n so_o believe_v in_o i_o for_o as_o he_o say_v i_o and_o the_o father_n be_o one_o howbeit_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n be_v sundry_a person_n yet_o they_o be_v but_o one_o bless_a majesty_n one_o god_n in_o one_o nature_n and_o one_o substance_n faith_n in_o one_o of_o they_o prejudge_v not_o another_o as_o thou_o believe_v in_o the_o father_n so_o believe_v in_o the_o son_n so_o believe_v in_o the_o holy_a ghost_n because_o they_o be_v one_o in_o nature_n and_o substance_n they_o be_v coessential_a coequal_a &_o coeternall_a if_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n be_v different_a in_o substance_n so_o that_o the_o father_n be_v one_o
how_o to_o come_v to_o it_o he_o be_v great_o rejoice_v because_o he_o have_v a_o sure_a hope_n to_o come_v to_o his_o rest_a place_n even_o so_o fare_v it_o with_o we_o who_o be_v god_n child_n while_o in_o this_o pilgrimage_n we_o be_v wander_v absent_a from_o the_o lord_n if_o we_o neither_o know_v the_o place_n where_o the_o lord_n be_v and_o where_o we_o may_v find_v rest_n for_o our_o soul_n with_o he_o neither_o know_v the_o way_n how_o to_o come_v to_o it_o we_o can_v but_o be_v wonderful_o discourage_v but_o iâ—_n on_o the_o other_o part_n we_o know_v both_o the_o place_n of_o our_o rest_n that_o permanent_a city_n that_o have_v a_o foundation_n and_o also_o the_o way_n how_o to_o come_v to_o it_o it_o can_v be_v possible_a but_o our_o soul_n must_v rest_v in_o hope_n to_o come_v there_o so_o you_o see_v the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o place_n whither_o we_o shall_v go_v to_o seek_v the_o lord_n and_o of_o the_o way_n that_o lead_v to_o that_o place_n furnish_v great_a comfort_n and_o joy_n to_o the_o soul_n whereas_o by_o the_o contrary_a the_o ignorance_n and_o misken_n of_o the_o place_n and_o way_n be_v ever_o accompany_v with_o great_a dolour_n and_o sadness_n now_o to_o go_v forward_o the_o disciple_n when_o they_o hear_v these_o word_n that_o christ_n utter_v of_o the_o way_n and_o the_o place_n they_o mistake_v he_o and_o understand_v he_o not_o and_o therefore_o thomas_n one_o of_o their_o number_n opponeth_n himself_o to_o the_o lord_n word_n and_o whereas_o the_o lord_n have_v say_v unto_o they_o they_o know_v both_o the_o place_n whither_o he_o be_v go_v and_o the_o way_n thomas_n oppon_v himself_o to_o both_o affirm_v that_o they_o neither_o know_v the_o place_n nor_o the_o way_n for_o say_v thomas_n we_o know_v not_o whither_o thou_o goeâ—â—â—_n how_o can_v we_o then_o know_v the_o way_n as_o if_o thomas_n have_v saidâ—_n lord_n thou_o say_v we_o know_v whither_o thou_o 〈◊〉_d s_o and_z we_o know_v also_o the_o way_n but_o we_o know_v not_o whither_o thou_o go_v and_o therefore_o we_o can_v know_v the_o way_n both_o the_o place_n and_o the_o way_n be_v unknown_a unto_o us._n these_o word_n at_o the_o first_o face_n will_v seem_v to_o have_v a_o direct_a contradiction_n to_o the_o lord_n word_n but_o if_o we_o weigh_v and_o consider_v the_o matter_n deep_o as_o it_o become_v we_o will_v find_v that_o in_o effect_n there_o be_v no_o contradiction_n but_o both_o may_v stand_v very_o well_o together_o for_o the_o lord_n speak_v of_o a_o begin_v and_o a_o general_a knowledge_n which_o the_o lord_n communicate_v to_o every_o one_o that_o be_v a_o true_a member_n of_o his_o body_n and_o this_o knowledge_n how_o small_a soever_o it_o be_v the_o lord_n accept_v of_o it_o for_o it_o be_v prophesy_v of_o he_o that_o he_o shall_v not_o break_v the_o bruise_a reed_n nor_o quench_v the_o smoke_a flax_n esay_n 42.3_o but_o rather_o where_o he_o find_v any_o knowledge_n begin_v he_o cherish_v it_o &_o make_v the_o soul_n to_o grow_v from_o knowledge_n to_o knowledge_n till_o it_o come_v to_o perfection_n but_o thomas_n mistake_v the_o lord_n for_o he_o think_v that_o the_o lord_n speak_v of_o a_o distinct_a and_o perfect_a knowledge_n and_o this_o make_v thomas_n to_o oppone_v against_o the_o lord_n and_o to_o affirm_v that_o they_o neither_o know_v whither_o he_o go_v nor_o yet_o the_o way_n and_o these_o two_o speakinge_n may_v very_o well_o stand_v together_o that_o they_o have_v a_o begin_v and_o confuse_a knowledge_n both_o of_o the_o place_n whither_o the_o lord_n go_v and_o of_o the_o way_n to_o that_o place_n of_o the_o which_o knowledge_n the_o lord_n speak_v and_o nevertheless_o that_o they_o know_v not_o distinct_o &_o perfect_o neither_o the_o place_n nor_o the_o way_n of_o the_o which_o knowledge_n thomas_n mean_v the_o like_a of_o this_o be_v to_o be_v understand_v when_o we_o speak_v of_o the_o knowledge_n the_o prophet_n have_v of_o the_o call_n of_o the_o gentile_n for_o with_o good_a reason_n we_o may_v say_v that_o the_o prophet_n know_v the_o call_n of_o the_o gentile_n because_o they_o have_v it_o foretold_v they_o in_o their_o prophecy_n yet_o paul_n say_v that_o the_o call_n of_o the_o gentile_n be_v a_o mystery_n which_o in_o other_o age_n be_v not_o open_v up_o unto_o the_o son_n of_o man_n these_o two_o saying_n stand_v very_o well_o together_o neither_o be_v there_o any_o contradiction_n in_o they_o for_o the_o one_o be_v to_o be_v understand_v of_o a_o begin_v and_o imperfect_a knowledge_n the_o other_o of_o a_o distinct_a and_o perfect_a knowledge_n again_o we_o may_v say_v christ_n speak_v of_o the_o knowledge_n which_o the_o disciple_n shall_v have_v have_v and_o may_v have_v have_v if_o they_o have_v take_v good_a enough_o heed_n to_o christ_n doctrine_n and_o instruction_n for_o how_o oft_o have_v the_o lord_n preach_v to_o they_o of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n which_o be_v the_o place_n whither_o he_o be_v first_o to_o go_v and_o they_o next_o to_o follow_v he_o how_o oft_o speak_v he_o unto_o they_o of_o the_o father_n who_o send_v he_o for_o the_o redemption_n of_o the_o world_n how_o often_o speak_v he_o unto_o they_o of_o the_o right_a way_n that_o lead_v to_o heaven_n yea_o he_o point_v it_o out_o with_o his_o finger_n as_o when_o he_o say_v i_o be_o the_o light_n of_o the_o world_n joh._n 8._o etc._n etc._n therefore_o see_v the_o lord_n speak_v of_o these_o thing_n so_o many_o time_n and_o so_o clear_o and_o be_v so_o careful_a to_o instruct_v they_o the_o disciple_n may_v well_o enough_o have_v know_v both_o the_o place_n and_o the_o way_n and_o their_o negligence_n can_v be_v excuse_v who_o be_v so_o rude_a and_o ignorant_a and_o profit_v so_o little_a in_o these_o thing_n and_o so_o thomas_n by_o this_o his_o answer_v to_o the_o lord_n let_v we_o see_v how_o little_a knowledge_n he_o have_v attain_v unto_o notwithstanding_o of_o all_o the_o travel_n the_o lord_n have_v take_v to_o instruct_v they_o always_o out_o of_o these_o word_n of_o thomas_n we_o may_v take_v up_o a_o profitable_a lesson_n concern_v the_o order_n of_o our_o knowledge_n of_o heavenly_a thing_n thomas_n say_v first_o we_o know_v not_o the_o place_n where_o thou_o go_v and_o upon_o this_o he_o gather_v we_o can_v know_v the_o way_n then_o the_o lesson_n be_v we_o must_v look_v for_o and_o than_o it_o be_v time_n for_o we_o to_o inquire_v what_o way_n we_o may_v come_v to_o heaven_n what_o way_n we_o may_v attain_v to_o that_o glory_n and_o happiness_n for_o there_o be_v no_o man_n that_o will_v take_v on_o a_o journey_n till_o he_o know_v where_o he_o will_v be_v and_o what_o shall_v be_v the_o end_n of_o his_o labour_n he_o that_o run_v he_o will_v set_v up_o a_o mark_n before_o he_o that_o he_o will_v be_v at_o paul_n say_v of_o himself_o 1._o cor._n 9.26_o i_o so_o run_v not_o as_o uncertain_o so_o fight_v i_o not_o as_o one_o that_o bear_v the_o air_n and_o when_o he_o come_v he_o shall_v bring_v the_o full_a redemption_n of_o his_o own_o in_o a_o word_n all_o our_o preach_v shall_v be_v of_o the_o last_o come_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n to_o cause_v the_o faithful_a raise_v up_o their_o heart_n to_o heaven_n to_o await_v for_o that_o come_n for_o in_o that_o second_o come_v stand_v the_o full_a joy_n and_o felicity_n of_o the_o faithful_a so_o we_o shall_v ever_o keep_v in_o our_o heart_n this_o promise_n that_o the_o lord_n jesus_n will_v come_v and_o take_v we_o to_o himself_o that_o we_o may_v have_v joy_n and_o he_o who_o have_v for_o it_o now_o to_o come_v to_o the_o text_n ere_o he_o come_v to_o the_o repeat_n of_o the_o promise_n of_o the_o come_n of_o the_o spirit_n he_o set_v down_o what_o shall_v be_v the_o estate_n of_o the_o world_n the_o world_n say_v he_o shall_v see_v i_o no_o more_o let_v i_o once_o go_v out_o of_o the_o world_n the_o jew_n the_o pharise_n who_o contemn_v i_o shall_v never_o see_v i_o have_v beautify_v we_o with_o such_o grace_n and_o light_n as_o he_o have_v deny_v to_o other_o nation_n better_a than_o we_o be_v we_o be_v unworthy_a of_o it_o to_o come_v to_o the_o word_n the_o world_n shall_v see_v i_o no_o more_o mean_v the_o scribe_n pharisee_n &_o malicious_a jew_n as_o he_o will_v say_v they_o have_v see_v i_o once_o &_o contemn_v i_o well_o for_o this_o contempt_n i_o be_v with_o you_o but_o now_o i_o be_o to_o depart_v &_o therefore_o i_o forewarn_v you_o one_o of_o the_o best_a preparation_n we_o can_v have_v be_v to_o hear_v much_o for_o this_o preach_n will_v not_o abide_v ay_o therefore_o let_v we_o hear_v well_o so_o long_o as_o we_o have_v occasion_n of_o hear_v of_o the_o word_n which_o we_o preach_v to_o you_o for_o why_o in_o the_o day_n of_o affliction_n that_o holy_a spirit_n shall_v call_v to_o thy_o remembrance_n that_o which_o thou_o have_v hear_v and_o so_o comfort_v thou_o and_o in_o the_o day_n of_o affliction_n the_o holy_a spirit_n will_v be_v more_o effectual_a to_o call_v to_o thy_o remembrance_n that_o which_o thou_o have_v hear_v better_o than_o when_o thou_o first_o hear_v it_o for_o why_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n have_v not_o the_o special_a effect_n ever_o when_o the_o word_n be_v hear_v but_o when_o the_o body_n be_v in_o most_o necessity_n and_o of_o all_o time_n in_o the_o world_n in_o the_o time_n of_o affliction_n or_o in_o the_o hour_n of_o death_n the_o word_n will_v be_v most_o sweet_a therefore_o hear_v in_o time_n if_o it_o be_v in_o the_o hour_n of_o death_n that_o at_o least_o in_o the_o hour_n of_o death_n thou_o may_v have_v joy_n in_o thy_o hearr_n another_o thing_n here_o behold_v how_o the_o lord_n love_v his_o disciple_n in_o this_o world_n certain_o so_o long_o as_o he_o be_v with_o they_o he_o love_v they_o wondrous_a tender_o and_o let_v be_v that_o he_o will_v not_o let_v they_o suffer_v he_o will_v not_o once_o let_v they_o hear_v of_o the_o cross_n and_o this_o be_v the_o thing_n that_o the_o disciple_n of_o john_n the_o baptist_n come_v to_o christ_n and_o complain_v of_o mat._n 9_o vers_fw-la 14._o saying_n why_o do_v we_o and_o the_o pharisee_n â—ast_v oft_o and_o thy_o disciple_n fast_o not_o the_o lord_n answer_v can_v the_o child_n of_o the_o marriage_n chamber_n mourn_v so_o long_o as_o the_o bridegroom_n be_v with_o they_o but_o the_o day_n will_v come_v when_o the_o bridegroom_n shall_v be_v take_v from_o they_o and_o then_o they_o shall_v fast_o and_o now_o when_o the_o lord_n be_v with_o they_o he_o forewarneth_a they_o of_o their_o affliction_n and_o of_o death_n itself_o and_o so_o indeed_o they_o feel_v it_o when_o he_o depart_v the_o ground_n of_o this_o be_v because_o the_o disciple_n of_o christ_n have_v a_o time_n of_o growth_n grant_v to_o they_o into_o the_o world_n and_o so_o long_o as_o the_o lord_n abode_n into_o the_o world_n they_o be_v not_o ripe_a and_o their_o strength_n be_v more_o outward_a than_o inward_a but_o now_o when_o he_o go_v away_o they_o grow_v ripe_a he_o send_v his_o spirit_n upon_o they_o as_o you_o see_v act._n chap._n 2._o they_o have_v a_o great_a consolation_n by_o that_o spirit_n in_o christ_n absence_n than_o they_o have_v during_o all_o the_o time_n that_o christ_n be_v with_o they_o so_o we_o have_v our_o own_o time_n in_o grow_v and_o the_o lord_n when_o he_o see_v we_o be_v not_o able_a to_o suffer_v he_o will_v not_o lay_v the_o cross_n upon_o we_o but_o he_o will_v spaâ—e_v us._n than_o we_o have_v a_o time_n when_o we_o come_v to_o ripeness_n that_o be_v when_o we_o get_v that_o spirit_n and_o then_o the_o lord_n will_v lay_v on_o the_o burden_n now_o as_o for_o we_o we_o have_v have_v a_o long_a time_n to_o ripen_v and_o it_o be_v a_o wonder_n that_o the_o lord_n have_v give_v we_o so_o long_o a_o time_n and_o spare_v we_o so_o long_o but_o brethren_n the_o time_n be_v come_v wherein_o we_o shall_v suffer_v and_o affliction_n abide_v we_o for_o the_o gospel_n and_o i_o pray_v the_o lord_n that_o he_o may_v find_v some_o ripeness_n and_o maturity_n and_o chief_o in_o we_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n that_o we_o may_v seal_v up_o the_o gospel_n with_o our_o blood_n if_o need_v require_v he_o fall_v out_o in_o the_o vers_fw-la follow_v in_o a_o gentle_a reproof_n of_o his_o apostle_n i_o be_o to_o ascension_n have_v hope_n that_o they_o shall_v receive_v the_o holy_a spirit_n and_o his_o grace_n and_o so_o they_o do_v in_o effect_n and_o if_o thou_o find_v that_o thou_o have_v not_o get_v the_o spirit_n in_o no_o measure_n no_o illumination_n no_o reformation_n of_o thy_o corrupt_a nature_n sore_o may_v thy_o heart_n be_v for_o in_o respect_n of_o thou_o in_o vain_a be_v he_o rise_v and_o glorify_v therefore_o as_o thou_o will_v be_v partaker_n of_o his_o glory_n strive_v to_o get_v his_o holy_a spirit_n ere_o thou_o go_v out_o of_o this_o world_n or_o else_o thou_o shall_v never_o world_n by_o the_o presence_n of_o that_o holy_a spirit_n whereby_o they_o be_v seal_v thus_o far_o have_v he_o partly_o forewarn_v they_o of_o his_o departure_n &_o partly_o comfort_v they_o it_o follow_v in_o the_o text_n then_o saâ—d_v some_o of_o his_o disciple_n among_o themselves_o what_o be_v this_o that_o he_o say_v unto_o we_o a_o little_a while_n and_o you_o shall_v not_o see_v i_o pierce_v stock_n and_o stone_n yet_o a_o man_n hear_v with_o reason_n &_o sense_n will_v conceive_v no_o more_o of_o thing_n heavenly_a than_o the_o stock_n and_o stone_n i_o tell_v you_o this_o that_o no_o word_n no_o preach_n if_o there_o be_v no_o more_o but_o word_n and_o preach_v can_v make_v any_o man_n to_o conceive_v heavenly_a thing_n yea_o no_o admonition_n no_o threaten_n no_o judgement_n if_o there_o be_v no_o more_o shall_v make_v the_o harden_a heart_n to_o be_v the_o better_a the_o blind_a thing_n in_o the_o world_n be_v the_o heart_n of_o man_n so_o except_o the_o inward_a teacher_n come_v out_o of_o the_o heaven_n &_o illuminate_v &_o mollify_v the_o heart_n all_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o world_n shall_v do_v the_o hart_n no_o good_a but_o rather_o evil_a so_o that_o thou_o may_v see_v this_o to_o be_v true_a that_o the_o natural_a man_n be_v not_o capable_a of_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n but_o when_o it_o please_v the_o lord_n to_o accompany_v his_o word_n with_o his_o spirit_n they_o two_o word_n shall_v do_v more_o good_a than_o a_o whole_a preach_v before_o &_o the_o apostle_n of_o christ_n after_o they_o get_v this_o spirit_n profit_v more_o in_o one_o day_n than_o all_o their_o day_n before_o so_o albeit_o thou_o hear_v many_o preach_n except_o thou_o have_v that_o inward_a doctor_n into_o thy_o heart_n all_o avail_v not_o therefore_o carry_v that_o inward_a teacher_n into_o thy_o hart_n &_o change_v he_o never_o so_o if_o thou_o want_v he_o run_v to_o this_o preacher_n or_o that_o if_o thou_o be_v harden_v before_o thou_o shall_v be_v so_o still_o a_o sound_n in_o the_o ear_n will_v do_v no_o more_o good_a than_o a_o blast_n of_o wind_n without_o the_o spirit_n it_o follow_v now_o jesus_n know_v etc._n etc._n he_o perceive_v they_o well_o enough_o and_o of_o what_o thing_n they_o be_v debate_v he_o answer_v they_o gentle_o i_o know_v will_v he_o say_v what_o you_o be_v think_v and_o inquire_v and_o then_o he_o teach_v they_o more_o gentle_o may_v not_o the_o lord_n have_v be_v angry_a with_o they_o who_o understand_v he_o not_o at_o the_o end_n of_o the_o preach_v but_o the_o lord_n as_o it_o be_v prophesy_v of_o he_o isay_n 42._o he_o quench_v never_o the_o smoke_a flax_n nor_o break_v the_o bruise_a reed_n he_o be_v ever_o about_o to_o entertain_v grace_n and_o not_o to_o put_v it_o out_o all_o teacher_n may_v take_v their_o lesson_n here_o they_o ought_v not_o to_o cast_v off_o people_n howbeit_o they_o get_v no_o fruit_n of_o preaching_n let_v ever_o that_o word_n be_v drive_v into_o their_o ear_n and_o let_v aye_o that_o seed_n be_v sow_v for_o he_o have_v the_o spirit_n and_o he_o will_v give_v he_o when_o he_o please_v and_o let_v both_o the_o auditor_n and_o the_o preacher_n pray_v to_o god_n to_o give_v the_o spirit_n it_o be_v true_a indeed_o the_o seed_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n will_v lie_v long_o lurk_v into_o the_o heart_n but_o at_o last_o the_o spirit_n will_v put_v to_o his_o hand_n to_o the_o word_n as_o you_o hear_v john_n 14._o vers_fw-la 16._o and_o will_v make_v the_o word_n to_o fructify_v and_o to_o bud_v out_o not_o only_o to_o the_o illumination_n of_o the_o soul_n inward_o but_o also_o to_o good_a work_n outward_o be_v thou_o ever_o sow_v that_o bless_a seed_n be_v ever_o preach_v and_o then_o commit_v and_o concern_v his_o return_v he_o instruct_v they_o by_o the_o effect_n both_o of_o the_o one_o and_o the_o other_o and_o they_o be_v these_o the_o first_o be_v you_o shall_v weep_v and_o lament_v the_o other_o be_v the_o world_n shall_v rejoice_v these_o be_v the_o effect_n of_o his_o depart_n then_o he_o declare_v his_o return_v by_o the_o effect_n but_o your_o mourning_n shall_v be_v turn_v foretell_v that_o by_o all_o appearance_n the_o lord_n jesus_n be_v to_o depart_v out_o of_o this_o land_n for_o we_o be_v not_o worthy_a of_o he_o albeit_o this_o move_v we_o yet_o this_o move_v we_o more_o when_o it_o be_v say_v it_o shall_v come_v to_o pass_v that_o thou_o shall_v mourn_v thyself_o thou_o shall_v weep_v now_o laugh_v on_o as_o thou_o will_v woâ—full_a shall_v be_v thy_o end_n and_o shame_n and_o confusion_n shall_v light_v upon_o thou_o i_o denounce_v this_o to_o thou_o in_o the_o name_n of_o god_n and_o again_o you_o think_v it_o a_o light_a thing_n to_o say_v the_o and_o lament_v and_o the_o world_n shall_v rejoice_v some_o shall_v be_v weep_v and_o some_o laugh_v this_o be_v the_o difference_n you_o see_v the_o departure_n of_o jesus_n christ_n be_v a_o sorrowful_a thing_n to_o the_o godly_a when_o christ_n be_v away_o the_o godly_a be_v in_o sorrow_n the_o pleasure_n of_o the_o godly_a be_v aye_o in_o the_o presence_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o therefore_o when_o they_o see_v that_o they_o want_v his_o presence_n they_o see_v nothing_o but_o matter_n of_o sorrow_n and_o give_v they_o all_o the_o pleasure_n of_o the_o world_n if_o they_o miss_v the_o lord_n away_o they_o will_v have_v no_o joy_n and_o by_o the_o contrary_a place_v they_o in_o all_o the_o sorrow_n in_o the_o world_n if_o they_o get_v a_o sight_n of_o jesus_n christ_n they_o get_v joy_n enough_o but_o on_o the_o other_o side_n the_o wicked_a and_o the_o ungodly_a who_o never_o taste_v how_o sweet_a the_o lord_n be_v never_o rejoice_v but_o when_o they_o want_v the_o lord_n jesus_n out_o of_o their_o sight_n they_o have_v no_o pleasure_n in_o his_o presence_n they_o have_v never_o pleasure_n to_o hear_v of_o christ_n
what_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o this_o they_o never_o wist_v what_o christ_n mean_v they_o never_o wist_v what_o the_o lord_n be_v and_o never_o feel_v of_o his_o sweetness_n and_o of_o the_o joy_n that_o be_v in_o his_o presence_n and_o therefore_o they_o have_v no_o pleasure_n but_o when_o they_o want_v he_o and_o because_o they_o can_v get_v their_o wicked_a will_n when_o christ_n be_v present_a they_o hate_v he_o for_o where_o christ_n be_v because_o he_o be_v the_o light_n of_o the_o world_n he_o lay_v open_v all_o wickedness_n and_o make_v it_o manifest_a all_o the_o happiness_n in_o the_o world_n be_v in_o the_o face_n of_o christ_n therefore_o rest_v never_o till_o thou_o taste_v of_o he_o if_o thou_o will_v be_v happy_a and_o again_o miserable_a be_v that_o man_n who_o have_v not_o taste_v of_o that_o sweetness_n and_o of_o that_o grace_n that_o be_v in_o the_o lord_n therefore_o as_o thou_o will_v come_v to_o heaven_n i_o warn_v thou_o yet_o again_o rest_n never_o till_o thou_o get_v that_o rest_n in_o christ_n and_o that_o sweetness_n that_o be_v in_o he_o let_v we_o see_v the_o effect_n that_o follow_v on_o his_o presence_n he_o say_v your_o sorrow_n shall_v be_v turn_v into_o joy_n he_o speak_v of_o that_o presence_n by_o his_o spirit_n for_o after_o that_o spirit_n be_v once_o enter_v into_o the_o soul_n he_o work_v faith_n and_o open_v the_o eye_n of_o the_o dark_a soul_n to_o see_v christ_n as_o in_o a_o mirror_n when_o the_o face_n of_o christ_n be_v bear_v up_o in_o the_o word_n howbeit_o say_v pet._n 1_o epist._n chap._n 1._o vers_fw-la 8._o we_o see_v he_o not_o yet_o believe_v we_o rejoice_v with_o a_o joy_n unspeakable_a and_o glorious_a so_o that_o dark_a sight_n of_o he_o work_v into_o the_o soul_n a_o exceed_a joy_n when_o we_o believe_v i_o grant_v indeed_o that_o as_o there_o be_v no_o joy_n in_o this_o life_n but_o it_o have_v sorrow_n with_o it_o so_o our_o joy_n in_o christ_n have_v heaviness_n with_o it_o it_o be_v imperfect_a here_o but_o it_o be_v better_a for_o thou_o to_o have_v a_o mean_a portion_n of_o that_o joy_n than_o all_o the_o joy_n in_o the_o world_n yea_o the_o very_a displeasure_n of_o the_o faithful_a be_v so_o far_o from_o that_o to_o hinder_v the_o joy_n that_o by_o the_o contrary_a it_o waken_v up_o the_o joy_n in_o the_o soul_n look_v the_o 2._o epist_n to_o the_o cor._n chap._n 5._o when_o the_o soul_n be_v heavy_a for_o sin_n than_o it_o find_v such_o joy_n as_o they_o will_v not_o give_v for_o all_o the_o joy_n in_o the_o world_n and_o when_o this_o joy_n be_v waken_v it_o swallow_v up_o all_o sorrow_n as_o in_o the_o 8._o chap._n to_o the_o rom._n and_o in_o the_o end_n of_o the_o 15._o chap._n of_o the_o 1._o epist_n to_o the_o cor._n say_v the_o apostle_n after_o this_o life_n mortality_n shall_v be_v swallow_v up_o of_o immortality_n and_o death_n shall_v be_v swallow_v up_o in_o victory_n and_o all_o tear_n shall_v be_v wipe_v away_o from_o their_o eye_n revel_v 7._o vers_fw-la 17._o and_o then_o they_o who_o have_v sorrow_n with_o joy_n here_o shall_v have_v joy_n without_o sorrow_n for_o ever_o look_v about_o you_o look_v within_o you_o or_o without_o you_o you_o shall_v see_v nothing_o but_o matter_n of_o joy_n so_o you_o see_v the_o effect_n of_o the_o departure_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o of_o his_o return_v again_o now_o hereafter_o he_o make_v this_o doctrine_n of_o the_o sorrow_n and_o joy_n of_o the_o godly_a more_o sensible_a by_o a_o familiar_a similitude_n and_o it_o be_v take_v from_o a_o woman_n travel_v a_o woman_n when_o she_o travel_v say_v he_o be_v in_o dolour_n because_o her_o hour_n be_v come_v but_o when_o she_o be_v deliver_v of_o the_o child_n she_o remember_v no_o more_o her_o dolour_n for_o joy_n that_o a_o man_n be_v bear_v into_o the_o world_n then_o in_o the_o last_o vers_fw-la he_o apply_v it_o now_o you_o be_v in_o heaviness_n and_o you_o be_v travel_v and_o that_o be_v because_o i_o be_o to_o depart_v from_o you_o the_o disciple_n take_v heavilie_o with_o the_o away-going_a of_o christ_n but_o i_o shall_v see_v you_o again_o and_o you_o shall_v see_v i_o and_o get_v my_o presence_n by_o my_o spirit_n and_o you_o shall_v rejoice_v and_o it_o shall_v be_v such_o a_o joy_n that_o all_o the_o world_n shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o take_v it_o away_o the_o world_n may_v take_v thy_o life_n from_o thou_o but_o never_o shall_v they_o take_v that_o joy_n from_o thou_o who_o shall_v separate_v we_o from_o the_o love_n of_o christ_n two_o thing_n be_v here_o to_o be_v mark_v the_o nature_n of_o the_o dolour_n of_o the_o godly_a into_o this_o world_n wander_v from_o their_o lord_n as_o pilgrim_n and_o the_o nature_n of_o their_o joy_n the_o nature_n of_o their_o displeasure_n be_v like_o the_o dolour_n which_o a_o woman_n have_v in_o travel_v so_o the_o apostle_n rom._n chap._n 8._o vers_fw-la 21._o he_o compare_v the_o languor_n of_o the_o dumb_a creature_n and_o element_n after_o the_o come_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n to_o a_o woman_n travel_v the_o dolour_n of_o a_o woman_n travel_v be_v very_o painful_a but_o yet_o it_o be_v profitable_a why_o because_o that_o pain_n bring_v out_o a_o birth_n so_o a_o woman_n in_o travel_n have_v hope_n not_o only_o to_o be_v save_v from_o that_o pain_n but_o also_o to_o have_v a_o child_n so_o hope_v in_o pain_n will_v have_v joy_n mix_v with_o it_o to_o apply_v this_o it_o be_v even_o so_o with_o the_o displeasure_n of_o the_o godly_a into_o this_o their_o pilgrimage_n await_v for_o their_o life_n which_o christ_n will_v bring_v down_o to_o they_o at_o his_o come_n 2._o corinth_n chap._n 5._o look_v what_o dolour_n paul_n utter_v he_o sigh_v under_o a_o burden_n he_o desire_v to_o slit_v away_o and_o to_o go_v to_o dwell_v with_o the_o lord_n albeit_o it_o be_v but_o a_o pain_n yet_o it_o tend_v to_o a_o pleasure_n in_o the_o end_n to_o a_o birth_n and_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o dolour_n they_o have_v a_o hope_n and_o with_o the_o hope_n they_o have_v joy_n so_o a_o godly_a man_n in_o sorrow_n will_v have_v the_o great_a joy_n in_o the_o world_n albeit_o the_o joy_n of_o the_o godly_a be_v with_o heaviness_n yet_o that_o joy_n be_v unspeakable_a the_o displeasure_n of_o the_o ungodly_a be_v not_o so_o indeed_o the_o scripture_n as_o in_o the_o first_o epistle_n to_o the_o thessaly_n chap._n 5._o compare_v it_o unto_o a_o woman_n travel_v but_o this_o be_v a_o hopeless_a pain_n what_o reck_v if_o that_o soul_n have_v hope_n that_o that_o pain_n shall_v cease_v but_o they_o shall_v never_o look_v for_o a_o birth_n well_o be_v it_o to_o that_o soul_n that_o that_o body_n can_v be_v turn_v to_o nothing_o after_o so_o many_o thousand_o year_n the_o sorrow_n of_o the_o godly_a be_v with_o hope_n and_o joy_n but_o the_o sorrow_n of_o the_o wicked_a be_v without_o hope_n jest_o not_o with_o hell_n it_o be_v a_o horrible_a thing_n to_o fall_v into_o the_o hand_n of_o a_o consume_a fire_n he_o say_v when_o she_o have_v bear_v her_o birth_n she_o remember_v not_o her_o travel_n because_o she_o have_v bear_v her_o birth_n even_o so_o when_o we_o address_v ourselves_o to_o heaven_n perish_v in_o the_o pollution_n &_o stink_n of_o the_o world_n then_o he_o compare_v they_o with_o himself_o they_o be_v like_a unto_o i_o &_o thou_o shall_v love_v they_o the_o better_a for_o the_o world_n love_v they_o the_o worse_a that_o they_o love_v i_o the_o word_n of_o jesus_n as_o it_o make_v we_o unlike_o the_o world_n so_o it_o make_v we_o like_o jesus_n christ_n if_o the_o word_n of_o jesus_n make_v thou_o not_o holy_a nothing_o shall_v make_v thou_o holy_a &_o they_o nothing_o shall_v ever_o make_v thou_o like_o jesus_n christ_n but_o this_o holy_a word_n of_o christ_n as_o it_o make_v we_o unlike_o the_o world_n so_o it_o make_v we_o like_o our_o head_n now_o he_o mean_v that_o this_o likeness_n with_o he_o be_v the_o ground_n of_o persecution_n the_o world_n persecute_v they_o because_o they_o be_v like_o he_o who_o the_o world_n love_v not_o for_o brethren_n this_o be_v the_o ground_n of_o persecution_n to_o wit_n the_o hatred_n of_o god_n the_o hatred_n of_o the_o light_n and_o the_o hatred_n of_o that_o majesty_n of_o self_n well_o then_o you_o see_v the_o hatred_n and_o the_o persecution_n of_o this_o world_n be_v wrong_v understand_v man_n think_v that_o when_o any_o man_n be_v persecute_v or_o hate_v of_o the_o world_n that_o god_n hate_v they_o also_o this_o be_v the_o judgement_n of_o the_o world_n when_o they_o see_v any_o man_n trouble_v for_o the_o cause_n of_o jesus_n christ_n they_o will_v say_v god_n hate_v this_o man_n now_o this_o be_v so_o false_a a_o judgement_n that_o by_o the_o contrary_a the_o hatred_n of_o this_o world_n be_v the_o sure_a token_n that_o can_v be_v that_o god_n love_v thou_o if_o there_o be_v no_o more_o to_o tell_v thou_o but_o the_o sense_n and_o experience_n that_o godly_a man_n have_v of_o god_n presence_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o hatred_n of_o this_o world_n it_o will_v tell_v thou_o that_o god_n love_v they_o a_o man_n who_o be_v persecute_v for_o jesus_n christ_n will_v feel_v such_o a_o presence_n in_o his_o heart_n of_o god_n that_o the_o tongue_n of_o man_n nor_o angel_n can_v tell_v and_o when_o he_o be_v chase_v till_o he_o pant_v and_o be_v breathless_a he_o will_v feel_v such_o a_o presence_n that_o he_o will_v count_v nothing_o of_o all_o the_o trouble_n of_o the_o world_n as_o paul_n say_v rom._n 8._o vers_fw-la 31._o if_o god_n be_v with_o we_o who_o can_v be_v against_o we_o and_o again_o who_o can_v separate_v we_o from_o the_o love_n of_o god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n he_o who_o feel_v this_o he_o will_v stand_v up_o and_o spit_v in_o the_o face_n of_o all_o the_o tyrant_n in_o the_o world_n he_o will_v defy_v the_o world_n the_o man_n who_o be_v far_a out_o of_o the_o world_n jesus_n christ_n be_v near_a he_o go_v out_o of_o the_o world_n go_v out_o of_o jerusalem_n bear_v the_o reproach_n of_o jesus_n and_o so_o thou_o shall_v have_v a_o sense_n of_o that_o joy_n the_o more_o thou_o conforme_v thou_o to_o the_o world_n the_o near_a man_n or_o woman_n be_v join_v with_o this_o curse_a generation_n the_o most_o curse_a generation_n that_o ever_o be_v on_o the_o face_n of_o the_o earth_n thou_o shall_v find_v that_o thy_o god_n shall_v be_v the_o far_a from_o thou_o when_o thou_o live_v as_o they_o live_v and_o speak_v as_o they_o speak_v i_o appeal_v thy_o conscience_n if_o thou_o find_v then_o the_o comfort_n and_o joy_n which_o thou_o find_v be_v from_o that_o society_n and_o if_o thou_o say_v thou_o have_v it_o thou_o lie_v if_o it_o be_v no_o more_o but_o that_o sense_n it_o may_v tell_v thou_o that_o this_o doctrine_n be_v true_a now_o i_o shall_v end_v the_o conclusion_n when_o he_o have_v use_v this_o argument_n he_o subjoin_v i_o pray_v not_o that_o thou_o shall_v take_v they_o out_o of_o the_o world_n but_o that_o thou_o shall_v keep_v they_o from_o the_o evil_a of_o the_o world_n for_o i_o have_v a_o work_n to_o do_v with_o they_o that_o be_v to_o send_v they_o out_o to_o this_o curse_a generation_n therefore_o father_n keep_v they_o this_o be_v the_o thing_n that_o i_o pray_v when_o i_o shall_v send_v they_o out_o to_o the_o world_n that_o thou_o leave_v they_o not_o but_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o persecution_n keep_v they_o till_o my_o work_n be_v end_v he_o crave_v not_o that_o they_o shall_v be_v free_a of_o persecution_n for_o of_o before_o you_o hear_v he_o say_v in_o the_o world_n you_o shall_v have_v oppression_n but_o be_v of_o good_a comfort_n in_o i_o you_o shall_v have_v peace_n therefore_o he_o crave_v not_o that_o they_o shall_v be_v free_a of_o all_o persecution_n but_o that_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o persecution_n the_o father_n shall_v be_v with_o they_o and_o make_v they_o victorious_a &_o more_o than_o victorious_a even_o to_o triumph_v you_o may_v mark_v in_o these_o word_n two_o remedy_n against_o the_o persecution_n of_o the_o world_n the_o godly_a have_v two_o remedy_n against_o the_o persecution_n of_o the_o world_n the_o first_o be_v when_o the_o lord_n take_v his_o own_o out_o of_o this_o miserable_a world_n to_o dwell_v with_o himself_o in_o joy_n and_o felicity_n the_o other_o remedy_n against_o persecution_n be_v when_o the_o lord_n let_v his_o own_o still_o fight_v on_o in_o a_o battle_n and_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n keep_v they_o wonderful_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o persecution_n so_o that_o the_o world_n will_v be_v compel_v to_o wonder_v that_o a_o man_n or_o a_o woman_n who_o feel_v the_o lord_n presence_n will_v so_o triumph_v in_o affliction_n all_o this_o world_n have_v no_o power_n to_o take_v their_o life_n so_o long_o as_o the_o lord_n have_v his_o work_n in_o their_o hand_n all_o the_o tyrant_n under_o the_o heaven_n have_v no_o power_n to_o harm_v they_o and_o namely_o a_o preacher_n till_o he_o end_v his_o work_n for_o the_o which_o the_o lord_n set_v he_o in_o the_o world_n all_o the_o tyrant_n in_o the_o earth_n can_v take_v his_o life_n from_o he_o no_o they_o can_v touch_v the_o least_o hair_n of_o his_o head_n for_o they_o be_v number_v yea_o rather_o ere_o he_o get_v any_o harm_n the_o lord_n will_v send_v his_o angel_n out_o of_o heaven_n as_o he_o send_v he_o to_o peter_n and_o pull_v he_o out_o of_o the_o throat_n of_o death_n now_o brethren_n look_v to_o the_o order_n which_o the_o lord_n use_v in_o these_o remedy_n he_o will_v not_o incontinent_a take_v his_o own_o out_o of_o the_o world_n howbeit_o the_o world_n be_v unworthy_a of_o they_o this_o world_n be_v not_o worthy_a of_o a_o good_a man_n he_o will_v let_v they_o tarry_v till_o his_o work_n be_v end_v there_o be_v not_o one_o of_o we_o when_o the_o lord_n have_v put_v a_o piece_n of_o work_n into_o our_o hand_n in_o our_o own_o call_n that_o he_o will_v take_v out_o of_o this_o world_n till_o we_o end_v it_o to_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o holy_a name_n as_o i_o tell_v you_o of_o before_o it_o be_v a_o wonderful_a thing_n how_o the_o lord_n will_v keep_v his_o own_o and_o he_o will_v not_o at_o a_o instant_n take_v they_o out_o of_o this_o world_n howbeit_o a_o man_n
love_v the_o faithful_a as_o thou_o have_v love_v i_o will_v thou_o know_v that_o god_n love_v the_o faithful_a and_o that_o he_o show_v mercy_n join_v thou_o to_o the_o body_n there_o be_v the_o two_o end_n of_o the_o conjunction_n and_o join_v together_o of_o the_o member_n the_o first_o be_v the_o glory_n of_o the_o son_n the_o second_o be_v the_o glory_n of_o the_o father_n for_o by_o this_o conjunction_n it_o be_v know_v how_o dear_o the_o father_n have_v love_v the_o son_n and_o by_o this_o it_o be_v know_v that_o the_o father_n have_v love_v the_o world_n not_o with_o a_o common_a love_n he_o have_v not_o love_v the_o world_n only_o as_o a_o workman_n love_v his_o workmanship_n but_o as_o the_o father_n have_v love_v the_o son_n that_o be_v with_o a_o fatherlie_a love_n that_o be_v another_o sort_n of_o love_n than_o a_o common_a love_n what_o avail_v it_o to_o thou_o to_o know_v that_o god_n love_v thou_o as_o his_o creature_n if_o thou_o be_v not_o assure_v that_o he_o love_v thou_o with_o that_o entire_a love_n wherewith_o he_o love_v his_o son_n and_o that_o he_o love_v thou_o with_o that_o fatherlie_a love_n and_o with_o the_o bowel_n of_o pity_n and_o if_o he_o love_v thou_o as_o his_o son_n he_o show_v it_o in_o this_o that_o he_o give_v his_o son_n for_o thou_o for_o except_o the_o father_n have_v love_v thou_o as_o his_o son_n with_o that_o fatherlie_a love_n he_o have_v never_o send_v jesus_n christ_n to_o redeem_v thou_o the_o send_n of_o jesus_n christ_n testify_v that_o he_o love_v thou_o with_o a_o fatherlie_a love_n we_o see_v here_o wherefore_o god_n have_v a_o church_fw-mi in_o this_o world_n wherefore_o be_v there_o a_o communion_n and_o conjunction_n of_o soul_n here_o in_o this_o earth_n think_v not_o that_o a_o the_o father_n for_o we_o and_o our_o redemption_n next_o by_o the_o send_n of_o the_o son_n for_o we_o we_o know_v tne_v unspeakable_a love_n of_o the_o father_n towards_o us._n now_o i_o go_v forward_o when_o he_o have_v pray_v for_o this_o conjunction_n and_o unity_n of_o the_o faithful_a on_o the_o earth_n that_o they_o may_v be_v join_v in_o one_o body_n he_o be_v not_o content_a with_o this_o but_o he_o seek_v more_o father_n say_v he_o where_o i_o be_o i_o will_v that_o they_o be_v there_o that_o they_o may_v see_v that_o glory_n that_o thou_o have_v give_v i_o the_o lord_n seek_v not_o only_a glory_n to_o the_o faithful_a in_o this_o life_n but_o glory_n in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v he_o intercede_v not_o only_o for_o thou_o that_o thou_o may_v have_v glory_n in_o this_o life_n but_o also_o that_o thou_o be_v glorify_v in_o the_o heaven_n after_o this_o life_n for_o brethren_n the_o lord_n jesus_n consider_v very_o well_o that_o our_o felicity_n be_v not_o bound_v within_o the_o compass_n of_o this_o earth_n that_o be_v a_o miserable_a happiness_n that_o be_v bound_v within_o this_o life_n thou_o be_v but_o a_o caitiff_n if_o thou_o locke_v for_o none_o other_o happiness_n as_o pavi_n say_v in_o the_o first_o epistle_n to_o the_o corinthian_n chap._n 15._o verse_n 19_o if_o our_o faith_n be_v only_o in_o this_o world_n of_o all_o man_n in_o the_o world_n we_o be_v the_o most_o miserable_a so_o if_o thou_o have_v this_o grace_n only_o in_o this_o life_n thou_o be_v miserable_a for_o all_o the_o grace_n that_o thou_o get_v if_o thy_o felicity_n reach_v not_o beyond_o this_o world_n and_o beyond_o all_o eternity_n thou_o be_v miserable_a felicity_n have_v none_o end_n the_o blessedness_n of_o the_o faithful_a man_n or_o woman_n have_v none_o end_n it_o be_v not_o draw_v within_o the_o compass_n of_o this_o earth_n but_o it_o pass_v above_o the_o heaven_n and_o extend_v it_o to_o all_o eternity_n now_o our_o happiness_n stand_v in_o this_o conjunction_n and_o union_n partly_o with_o our_o head_n and_o our_o god_n and_o with_o our_o neighbour_n to_o make_v one_o body_n to_o jesus_n christ_n in_o these_o two_o part_n standenth_fw-mi our_o must_v change_v our_o dwell_a place_n we_o will_v not_o get_v the_o sight_n of_o christ_n here_o in_o this_o earth_n look_v not_o to_o get_v the_o sight_n of_o that_o glory_n here_o in_o the_o earth_n thou_o must_v flit_v out_o of_o the_o earth_n to_o the_o heaven_n whatsoever_o soul_n will_v see_v his_o glory_n that_o soul_n must_v flit_v and_o before_o ever_o we_o change_v our_o dwell_a place_n we_o must_v first_o be_v change_v we_o must_v have_v a_o change_n of_o ourselves_o there_o be_v never_o any_o man_n nor_o woman_n that_o shall_v get_v entry_n into_o that_o sanctuary_n where_o the_o lord_n jesus_n sit_v in_o glory_n but_o he_o who_o be_v change_v in_o himself_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o a_o man_n or_o a_o woman_n to_o enter_v into_o heaven_n with_o this_o mortality_n or_o with_o this_o death_n or_o with_o this_o corruption_n what_o be_v we_o but_o dead_a and_o mortal_a creature_n then_o thou_o must_v change_v corruption_n into_o corruption_n and_o thou_o must_v change_v thy_o mortal_a body_n into_o a_o glorious_a body_n now_o this_o change_n of_o man_n and_o woman_n can_v be_v but_o by_o death_n what_o strike_v more_o terror_n to_o thy_o heart_n than_o death_n yet_o there_o be_v no_o change_n but_o by_o death_n or_o else_o that_o which_o shall_v stand_v we_o in_o stead_n of_o death_n as_o when_o christ_n shall_v come_v the_o cloud_n in_o the_o latter_a day_n we_o must_v be_v change_v in_o the_o twinkle_n of_o a_o eye_n this_o doctrine_n tend_v to_o this_o that_o we_o abhor_v not_o death_n altogether_o
which_o be_v righteous_a and_o good_a but_o it_o be_v a_o righteous_a thing_n to_o the_o father_n to_o love_v they_o who_o know_v he_o and_o believe_v in_o jesus_n christ_n that_o the_o father_n shall_v meet_v faith_n in_o christ_n with_o love_n it_o be_v a_o just_a thing_n so_o consider_v this_o he_o style_v he_o righteous_a and_o just_a father_n mark_v it_o brethren_n look_v what_o thing_n thou_o will_v have_v god_n do_v unto_o thou_o and_o what_o work_n thou_o will_v have_v he_o work_v acknowledge_v he_o to_o be_v such_o in_o nature_n quality_n and_o condition_n as_o be_v the_o thing_n that_o thou_o ask_v of_o he_o by_o thy_o prayer_n will_v thou_o have_v he_o do_v any_o work_n of_o power_n then_o in_o ask_v style_v he_o according_a thereunto_o and_o call_v he_o god_n omnipotent_a will_v thou_o have_v he_o work_v a_o work_n of_o wisdom_n then_o when_o thou_o ask_v that_o of_o he_o style_v he_o according_a thereunto_o and_o call_v he_o only_o wise_a god_n as_o daniel_n seek_v a_o revelation_n and_o seek_v out_o the_o knowledge_n of_o jesus_n christ_n say_v to_o thou_o appertain_v power_n o_o god_n and_o wisdom_n if_o thou_o will_v have_v a_o work_n of_o mercy_n do_v apprehend_v he_o in_o his_o mercy_n and_o call_v he_o merciful_a god_n and_o say_v o_o most_o merciful_a god_n give_v i_o mercy_n and_o will_v thou_o have_v he_o do_v a_o work_n of_o justice_n then_o look_v that_o thou_o know_v he_o to_o be_v a_o most_o just_a god_n and_o give_v he_o a_o stile_n conform_v thereunto_o and_o say_v o_o most_o just_a god_n and_o so_o forth_o for_o brethren_n except_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n in_o prayer_n when_o he_o seek_v any_o work_n of_o god_n as_o a_o work_n of_o power_n or_o a_o work_n of_o mercy_n or_o a_o work_n of_o wisdom_n or_o of_o justice_n etc._n etc._n except_o i_o say_v the_o heart_n of_o he_o that_o pray_v take_v the_o apprehension_n of_o the_o nature_n of_o god_n that_o he_o be_v merciful_a that_o he_o be_v almighty_a and_o that_o he_o be_v just_a and_o wise_a and_o so_o forth_o except_o this_o apprehension_n of_o his_o nature_n be_v in_o thy_o heart_n thy_o prayer_n can_v have_v none_o effect_v how_o can_v thou_o seek_v he_o to_o work_v a_o work_n of_o mercy_n or_o of_o wisdom_n and_o have_v none_o assurance_n that_o he_o be_v merciful_a or_o wise_a so_o the_o first_o thing_n in_o prayer_n that_o we_o shall_v strive_v to_o be_v ever_o to_o have_v a_o knowledge_n and_o confidence_n of_o thy_o god_n and_o of_o his_o essential_a property_n otherways_o the_o heart_n shall_v not_o be_v assure_v thou_o may_v well_o pray_v for_o the_o fashion_n except_o first_o of_o all_o thy_o heart_n and_o mind_n conceive_v he_o in_o his_o nature_n to_o be_v a_o merciful_a just_a and_o powerful_a god._n and_o therefore_o the_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n that_o be_v most_o requisite_a be_v to_o know_v god_n so_o far_o as_o this_o little_a heart_n and_o mind_n can_v conceive_v and_o gripe_v that_o infinite_a majesty_n it_o be_v needful_a for_o thou_o to_o know_v that_o glorious_a majesty_n in_o those_o essential_a property_n in_o his_o mercy_n justice_n and_o so_o forth_o and_o to_o know_v he_o in_o all_o those_o thing_n in_o jesus_n christ_n for_o all_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n nature_n and_o of_o his_o property_n without_o jesus_n christ_n shall_v never_o avail_v so_o the_o thing_n which_o we_o shall_v seek_v be_v to_o know_v our_o god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n this_o for_o the_o stile_n now_o to_o go_v forward_o he_o come_v to_o the_o set_v out_o first_o of_o his_o knowledge_n of_o the_o father_n and_o then_o of_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o disciple_n that_o they_o have_v of_o the_o father_n and_o of_o the_o son_n but_o before_o he_o speak_v any_o thing_n of_o these_o knowledge_n he_o set_v down_o that_o misknowledge_n and_o that_o wilful_a &_o obstinate_a ignorance_n of_o the_o world_n the_o world_n have_v not_o know_v thou_o alace_o that_o there_o shall_v be_v such_o a_o multitude_n in_o the_o world_n in_o such_o dark_a ignorance_n of_o so_o bright_a and_o glorious_a a_o majesty_n that_o shine_v in_o the_o world_n in_o that_o glorious_a word_n and_o yet_o they_o have_v no_o sight_n of_o he_o will_v thou_o eschew_v this_o ignorance_n and_o get_v a_o sight_n of_o thy_o sin_n for_o the_o miserable_a world_n howbeit_o the_o sun_n of_o righteousness_n be_v shine_v into_o it_o it_o see_v he_o not_o neither_o can_v it_o get_v any_o apprehension_n of_o he_o strive_v to_o get_v thy_o eye_n open_v to_o see_v that_o glory_n wherein_o stand_v thy_o salvation_n no_o salvation_n to_o thou_o without_o that_o sight_n of_o jesus_n christ_n if_o thy_o eye_n abide_v close_o and_o see_v he_o not_o they_o shall_v never_o be_v open_v but_o shall_v remain_v close_o everlasting_o and_o never_o a_o sight_n shall_v do_v thou_o good_a to_o thy_o joy_n but_o that_o sight_n now_o he_o set_v down_o this_o wilful_a ignorance_n of_o the_o world_n and_o set_v it_o before_o the_o father_n
