imperfect_a state_n they_o must_v be_v bear_v withal_o in_o many_o thing_n for_o they_o be_v still_o man_n subject_a to_o like_a passion_n and_o infirmtiy_n with_o other_o moses_n a_o man_n eminent_a for_o meekness_n so_o that_o there_o be_v none_o like_o he_o on_o earth_n yet_o sometime_o speak_v unadvised_o with_o his_o lip_n job_n a_o patient_a man_n even_o to_o a_o proverb_n yet_o have_v sometime_o his_o fit_n of_o impatience_n and_o discontent_n jonah_n a_o prophet_n of_o the_o lord_n yet_o very_o froward_a and_o peevish_a and_o justify_v his_o passion_n and_o anger_n not_o only_o before_o man_n but_o even_o unto_o the_o face_n of_o god_n himself_o say_v i_o do_v well_o to_o be_v angry_a even_o unto_o the_o death_n yea_o most_o if_o not_o all_o the_o saint_n and_o people_n of_o god_n mention_v in_o scripture_n though_o eminent_a for_o grace_n and_o holiness_n yet_o have_v they_o have_v some_o sin_n some_o infirmity_n or_o other_o record_v of_o they_o that_o it_o may_v be_v know_v they_o be_v man_n yea_o sinful_a man_n also_o as_o well_o as_o saint_n and_o if_o we_o expect_v communion_n with_o any_o while_n we_o be_v here_o that_o be_v not_o sinner_n as_o well_o as_o saint_n we_o must_v then_o go_v out_o of_o the_o world_n as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v for_o all_o the_o people_n of_o god_n here_o have_v flesh_n in_o they_o as_o well_o as_o spirit_n sin_n and_o corruption_n in_o they_o as_o well_o as_o grace_n and_o holiness_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o all_o their_o frailty_n and_o infirmity_n they_o be_v still_o the_o best_a company_n and_o fellowship_n believer_n shall_v enjoy_v in_o heaven_n as_o 1._o communion_n with_o all_o the_o people_n of_o god_n 2._o communion_n with_o angel_n 3._o enjoyment_n of_o jesus_n christ_n their_o redeemer_n 4._o sight_n and_o fruition_n of_o god_n what_o kind_n of_o sight_n or_o vision_n of_o god_n saint_n shall_v have_v in_o heaven_n which_o shall_v be_v 1._o immediate_a and_o clear_a 2._o transform_v 3._o joyful_a 4._o permanent_a and_o perpetual_a this_o sight_n and_o vision_n of_o god_n in_o heaven_n will_v be_v a_o great_a happiness_n because_o god_n be_v 1._o a_o universal_a good_n 2._o a_o pure_a glorious_a redeemer_n and_o the_o eternal_a vision_n and_o enjoyment_n of_o god_n himself_o first_o the_o happiness_n of_o believer_n in_o heaven_n consist_v in_o their_o fellowship_n and_o society_n with_o the_o saint_n and_o people_n of_o god_n that_o have_v live_v in_o all_o age_n of_o the_o world_n the_o communion_n of_o saint_n and_o the_o great_a delight_n the_o people_n of_o god_n have_v take_v therein_o be_v that_o we_o often_o read_v of_o in_o scripture_n holy_a david_n speak_v of_o it_o with_o great_a pleasure_n psal_n 42.4_o i_o go_v say_v he_o to_o the_o house_n of_o god_n with_o the_o voice_n of_o joy_n and_o praise_n but_o why_o so_o it_o be_v say_v he_o with_o a_o multitude_n that_o keep_v holiday_n such_o society_n be_v the_o delight_n of_o his_o soul_n psal_n 16.3_o but_o their_o company_n be_v in_o heaven_n when_o they_o shall_v be_v free_a from_o all_o sin_n and_o corruption_n have_v nothing_o but_o grace_n in_o they_o in_o perfection_n here_o on_o earth_n the_o communion_n of_o saint_n be_v sweet_a and_o desirable_a though_o mix_v with_o communion_n with_o the_o world_n so_o that_o while_o we_o have_v fellowship_n with_o they_o we_o be_v to_o have_v fellowship_n with_o sinner_n at_o the_o same_o time_n and_o indeed_o there_o be_v no_o society_n so_o pure_a and_o holy_a but_o there_o be_v and_o will_v be_v a_o number_n of_o unholy_a one_o among_o they_o to_o be_v full_a of_o holiness_n ourselves_o and_o to_o have_v none_o but_o holy_a one_o in_o our_o company_n be_v a_o desirable_a thing_n on_o earth_n but_o enjoy_v only_o in_o heaven_n here_o the_o chaff_n and_o the_o wheat_n must_v grow_v together_o all_o that_o be_v now_o call_v by_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v not_o all_o holy_a but_o saint_n and_o sinner_n dwell_v together_o in_o the_o same_o house_n sit_v together_o at_o the_o same_o table_n lie_v together_o in_o the_o same_o bed_n yea_o eat_v both_o of_o the_o same_o spiritual_a meat_n and_o drink_v the_o same_o spiritual_a drink_n enjoy_v the_o same_o ordinance_n partake_v of_o the_o same_o sacrament_n even_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o our_o bless_a lord_n and_o saviour_n jesus_n christ_n so_o that_o the_o people_n of_o god_n though_o they_o have_v communion_n one_o with_o another_o yet_o have_v they_o fellowship_n with_o sinner_n also_o and_o this_o will_v always_o be_v the_o state_n of_o the_o people_n of_o god_n while_o they_o be_v here_o but_o now_o in_o heaven_n believer_n shall_v have_v communion_n with_o the_o saint_n and_o servant_n of_o god_n and_o with_o none_o but_o they_o for_o all_o sinner_n shall_v be_v eternal_o exclude_v out_o
you_o have_v continue_v wait_v but_o a_o few_o day_n long_v god_n will_v grant_v your_o desire_n for_o when_o you_o come_v to_o heaven_n whither_o death_n will_v certain_o and_o sudden_o bring_v you_o self-denial_n nehemiah_n for_o his_o zeal_n for_o god_n and_o his_o glory_n david_n for_o his_o love_n to_o god_n and_o his_o ordinance_n job_n for_o his_o patience_n s._n paul_n for_o his_o unwearied_a industry_n and_o laboriousness_n in_o the_o work_n of_o god_n and_o the_o service_n of_o soul_n o_o how_o eminent_o glorious_a have_v the_o particular_a act_n of_o these_o particular_a grace_n in_o these_o servant_n of_o god_n make_v they_o in_o all_o age_n insomuch_o that_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n have_v think_v good_a to_o record_v their_o excellency_n in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n and_o their_o praise_n shall_v be_v in_o all_o the_o church_n of_o god_n to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n now_o if_o the_o saint_n eminency_n in_o some_o particular_a grace_n have_v jar_n and_o be_v at_o great_a variance_n yea_o there_o shall_v we_o discover_v not_o only_o the_o meaning_n of_o the_o most_o dark_a and_o obscure_a passage_n of_o that_o sacred_a book_n but_o how_o fit_a it_o be_v that_o they_o shall_v be_v so_o together_o with_o the_o infinite_a wisdom_n of_o the_o great_a god_n that_o cause_v they_o to_o be_v write_v so_o obscure_o there_o it_o be_v that_o those_o riddle_n of_o divine_a providence_n shall_v be_v expound_v and_o lay_v open_a before_o we_o which_o have_v make_v not_o only_o wicked_a man_n to_o deny_v but_o tempt_v even_o good_a man_n themselves_o sometime_o to_o call_v in_o question_n the_o infinite_a and_o unerring_a wisdom_n of_o the_o great_a god_n in_o his_o government_n of_o the_o world_n when_o they_o behold_v wicked_a and_o ungodly_a man_n to_o prosper_v grow_v rich_a and_o great_a have_v all_o their_o heart_n can_v wish_v whilst_o upright_a and_o righteous_a one_o be_v continual_o expose_v to_o poverty_n reproach_n and_o contempt_n there_o shall_v we_o be_v full_o convince_v that_o all_o these_o seem_a irregularity_n be_v not_o only_o consistent_a with_o god_n justice_n and_o goodness_n but_o be_v the_o wise_a production_n of_o they_o and_o though_o the_o belief_n hereof_o do_v to_o wise_a and_o understand_a person_n seem_v to_o be_v a_o piece_n of_o great_a self-denial_n yet_o when_o we_o come_v to_o heaven_n it_o will_v appear_v to_o be_v as_o high_o rational_a as_o now_o we_o find_v it_o to_o be_v hard_a and_o difficult_a man_n of_o himself_o be_v no_o fit_a judge_n of_o the_o providence_n of_o god_n at_o any_o time_n but_o especial_o not_o in_o this_o world_n because_o he_o can_v see_v the_o whole_a of_o his_o providential_a working_n at_o once_o his_o day_n as_o job_n speak_v be_v but_o as_o a_o shadow_n upon_o earth_n and_o they_o fly_v away_o so_o that_o he_o can_v see_v but_o little_a of_o what_o god_n be_v do_v but_o when_o we_o come_v to_o heaven_n the_o whole_a conduct_n of_o god_n providence_n in_o the_o administration_n of_o affair_n in_o the_o world_n shall_v be_v lay_v open_a to_o our_o view_n then_o shall_v all_o the_o revolution_n and_o occurrence_n of_o empire_n state_n
heaven_n and_o happiness_n not_o upon_o any_o good_a work_n he_o have_v do_v but_o upon_o what_o christ_n have_v do_v and_o suffer_v for_o he_o though_o he_o have_v whereof_o to_o glory_n as_o himself_o say_v yet_o he_o look_v upon_o all_o as_o nothing_o and_o desire_v only_o to_o be_v find_v in_o christ_n and_o whatever_o conceit_n or_o opinion_n sinner_n may_v have_v of_o themselves_o year_n distant_a from_o they_o or_o whatever_o man_n may_v say_v in_o the_o heat_n of_o a_o dispute_n concern_v the_o merit_n of_o their_o good_a work_n yet_o certain_o they_o will_v be_v of_o another_o mind_n when_o death_n lay_v hold_v of_o they_o with_o its_o cold_a hand_n and_o when_o a_o awaken_v conscience_n be_v hurry_v they_o on_o to_o make_v their_o appearance_n before_o the_o tribunal_n of_o the_o great_a god_n the_o righteous_a judge_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n there_o be_v few_o if_o any_o that_o be_v so_o bold_a and_o presumptuous_a as_o to_o boast_v of_o their_o merit_n upon_o a_o deathbed_n no_o death_n and_o judgement_n convince_v and_o alter_v man_n mind_n make_v they_o speak_v quite_o another_o language_n than_o what_o they_o do_v former_o it_o be_v not_o then_o lord_n deal_n with_o i_o according_a to_o my_o desert_n but_o lord_n deal_v with_o i_o according_a to_o thy_o mercy_n blot_v out_o my_o offence_n o_o lord_n not_o according_a to_o the_o merit_n of_o a_o die_a sinner_n but_o according_a to_o the_o merit_n of_o a_o die_a saviour_n this_o this_o be_v the_o language_n of_o a_o sinner_n upon_o a_o death_n bed_n then_o a_o bellarmine_n will_v confute_v himself_o and_o cry_v out_o oh_o it_o be_v safe_a trust_v to_o the_o merit_n of_o jesus_n christ_n three_o the_o final_a cause_n of_o the_o saint_n happiness_n be_v the_o honour_n and_o glory_n of_o god_n we_o read_v luk._n 2.13_o 14._o when_o our_o lord_n jesus_n come_v into_o the_o world_n on_o this_o very_a errand_n that_o he_o may_v obtain_v eternal_a redemption_n and_o salvation_n for_o sinner_n the_o angel_n those_o extraordinary_a ambassador_n of_o heaven_n proclaim_v the_o tiding_n thereof_o to_o the_o shepherd_n say_v glory_n to_o god_n in_o the_o high_a on_o earth_n peace_n and_o good_a will_n towards_o man._n not_o only_o be_v man_n command_v to_o do_v all_o thing_n for_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n but_o god_n himself_o do_v all_o he_o do_v with_o his_o glory_n shall_v be_v his_o chief_a end_n and_o unless_o this_o be_v a_o chief_a ingredient_n into_o all_o our_o duty_n and_o service_n they_o be_v neither_o acceptable_a to_o god_n nor_o be_v holiness_n consummate_v they_o be_v but_o one_o and_o the_o same_o thing_n though_o great_o differ_v in_o degree_n holiness_n in_o a_o saint_n here_o be_v mix_v with_o sin_n and_o corruption_n saint_n here_o be_v the_o same_o with_o that_o glory_n that_o be_v the_o expect_a consummation_n of_o a_o saint_n happiness_n hereafter_o it_o show_v the_o great_a necessity_n that_o there_o be_v that_o all_o that_o desire_v to_o be_v happy_a hereafter_o shall_v endeavour_v to_o be_v holy_a here_o now_o how_o holiness_n qualify_v for_o heaven_n and_o why_o it_o be_v so_o necessary_a to_o the_o obtain_n of_o heaven_n will_v appear_v in_o two_o particular_n one_o be_v because_o holiness_n and_o heaven_n be_v one_o and_o the_o same_o thing_n and_o the_o other_o be_v because_o of_o the_o great_a unsuitableness_n between_o heaven_n and_o a_o unholy_a soul_n first_o there_o be_v a_o agreeableness_n yea_o a_o sameness_n between_o holiness_n and_o heaven_n the_o glory_n of_o heaven_n lie_v not_o in_o this_o that_o a_o saint_n shall_v there_o outshine_v the_o brightness_n of_o the_o sun_n that_o there_o he_o shall_v not_o be_v expose_v to_o heat_n to_o cold_a to_o nakedness_n or_o want_n that_o there_o he_o shall_v be_v free_a from_o disease_n sickness_n and_o death_n itself_o that_o he_o shall_v not_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o meat_n drink_v and_o clothing_n no_o nor_o that_o he_o shall_v always_o be_v in_o the_o hear_n of_o melodious_a song_n and_o hallilujah_n of_o saint_n and_o angel_n these_o thing_n indeed_o be_v in_o heaven_n
and_o a_o part_n of_o the_o happiness_n thereof_o as_o every_o thing_n that_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n can_v desire_v or_o imagine_v that_o be_v true_o excellent_a do_v make_v up_o the_o happiness_n of_o that_o bless_a state_n but_o that_o which_o chief_o constitute_v heaven_n be_v holiness_n there_o be_v a_o holy_a god_n there_o be_v a_o holy_a place_n there_o be_v holy_a company_n and_o society_n yea_o every_o thing_n that_o be_v holy_a and_o nothing_o but_o what_o be_v holy_a there_o it_o be_v that_o holy_a soul_n shall_v be_v for_o ever_o unite_v to_o a_o holy_a god_n by_o a_o continual_a fervour_n of_o holy_a love_n there_o it_o be_v that_o they_o shall_v always_o holy_o depend_v upon_o god_n by_o holy_a and_o heavenly_a act_n of_o faith_n and_o hope_n there_o it_o be_v that_o they_o shall_v eternal_o obey_v god_n with_o a_o holy_a joy_n and_o delight_n and_o all_o this_o with_o the_o same_o holy_a love_n faith_n hope_n and_o joy_n which_o they_o do_v put_v forth_o towards_o god_n here_o upon_o earth_n only_o in_o heaven_n these_o grace_n shall_v be_v advance_v and_o exalt_v above_o all_o those_o imperfection_n and_o frailty_n that_o in_o this_o life_n do_v attend_v they_o this_o now_o be_v the_o glory_n of_o heaven_n and_o indeed_o what_o great_a glory_n can_v there_o be_v than_o this_o holiness_n be_v the_o glory_n of_o god_n himself_o thus_o moses_n style_v god_n in_o his_o triumphant_a song_n exod._n 15.11_o where_o he_o tell_v we_o though_o he_o be_v a_o god_n that_o be_v fearful_a in_o praise_n and_o infinite_a in_o power_n yet_o that_o wherein_o he_o be_v most_o glorious_a be_v his_o holiness_n who_o be_v a_o god_n like_o unto_o thou_o o_o lord_n among_o the_o god_n who_o be_v like_a unto_o thou_o glorious_a in_o holiness_n fearful_a in_o praise_n do_v wonder_n and_o what_o be_v the_o glory_n of_o the_o saint_n in_o heaven_n but_o only_o a_o reflection_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n cast_v upon_o they_o now_o as_o god_n be_v in_o a_o especial_a manner_n glorious_a in_o his_o holiness_n so_o be_v they_o glorious_a in_o their_o holiness_n and_o what_o then_o will_v become_v of_o all_o the_o hope_n of_o wicked_a and_o profane_a sinner_n who_o heart_n be_v full_a of_o hatred_n and_o malice_n not_o only_o against_o those_o that_o be_v holy_a but_o against_o holiness_n itself_o witness_v their_o impious_a and_o profane_a scoff_v at_o holiness_n their_o persecute_v all_o those_o that_o make_v a_o strict_a profession_n of_o it_o than_o themselves_o what_o a_o strange_a kind_n of_o heaven_n do_v these_o man_n hope_v for_o and_o how_o miserable_o do_v they_o deceive_v themselves_o for_o if_o grace_n and_o glory_n if_o holiness_n and_o heaven_n be_v one_o and_o the_o same_o thing_n as_o they_o be_v then_o certain_o all_o the_o hope_n of_o such_o wretched_a sinner_n be_v build_v upon_o a_o rot_a foundation_n for_o how_o can_v they_o that_o hate_n and_o persecute_v a_o little_a holiness_n in_o a_o saint_n on_o earth_n where_o it_o be_v mingle_v with_o much_o sin_n and_o corruption_n take_v delight_n in_o heaven_n where_o there_o be_v great_a measure_n and_o degree_n of_o grace_n and_o holiness_n than_o all_o the_o saint_n that_o ever_o live_v here_o upon_o earth_n do_v or_o can_v attain_v to_o in_o this_o world_n yea_o where_o there_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o grace_n and_o holiness_n in_o vain_a o_o sinner_n do_v thou_o wish_v or_o hope_n for_o a_o heaven_n where_o there_o be_v nothing_o but_o ease_n and_o pleasure_n a_o place_n where_o thou_o may_v be_v above_o all_o thy_o care_n and_o fear_n where_o thou_o may_v enjoy_v a_o constant_a freedom_n from_o all_o thy_o pain_n and_o distress_n that_o now_o afflict_v and_o torment_v thou_o such_o a_o heaven_n as_o this_o be_v impossible_a god_n never_o make_v any_o such_o nor_o can_v thou_o in_o reason_n expect_v it_o but_o contrariwise_o know_v thou_o must_v to_o thy_o terror_n and_o amazement_n that_o the_o great_a god_n have_v join_v sin_n and_o the_o curse_n so_o close_o together_o that_o heaven_n itself_o will_v be_v no_o sanctuary_n to_o secure_v thou_o either_o from_o the_o sting_a horror_n of_o a_o evil_a and_o now_o too_o late_o awaken_v and_o accuse_a conscience_n nor_o from_o the_o ghasty_a and_o torment_a fear_n of_o wrath_n and_o hell_n if_o sin_n and_o guilt_n shall_v enter_v with_o thou_o into_o that_o holy_a place_n second_o holiness_n be_v a_o necessary_a qualification_n for_o heaven_n because_o without_o it_o there_o be_v no_o suitableness_n between_o we_o and_o heaven_n all_o true_a pleasure_n and_o delight_n be_v cause_v from_o the_o suitableness_n that_o there_o be_v between_o the_o object_n and_o the_o power_n or_o faculty_n in_o man_n that_o receive_v it_o it_o be_v therefore_o a_o pleasant_a thing_n for_o the_o eye_n to_o behold_v the_o light_n and_o so_o be_v it_o also_o for_o the_o ear_n to_o hear_v melodious_a sound_n because_o these_o object_n be_v suit_v unto_o those_o sense_n which_o otherwise_o will_v not_o be_v delightful_a to_o they_o as_o we_o see_v in_o those_o that_o be_v blind_a and_o deaf_a the_o one_o take_v no_o pleasure_n in_o the_o light_n nor_o the_o other_o in_o music_n and_o so_o it_o be_v with_o we_o in_o reference_n unto_o heaven_n there_o be_v nothing_o there_o will_v be_v pleasant_a and_o delightful_a to_o we_o do_v not_o god_n before_o hand_n prepare_v and_o suit_v our_o soul_n by_o his_o grace_n unto_o that_o glory_n that_o shall_v there_o be_v reveal_v to_o we_o hence_o we_o find_v the_o apostle_n col._n 1.12_o give_v thanks_o unto_o god_n who_o by_o a_o work_n of_o sanctification_n have_v make_v they_o meet_v to_o be_v partaker_n of_o the_o inheritance_n of_o the_o saint_n in_o light_n to_o illustrate_v this_o a_o little_a further_o there_o be_v a_o two_o fold_v unsuitableness_n between_o every_o wicked_a man_n and_o heaven_n he_o be_v unsuitable_a to_o the_o work_n of_o heaven_n and_o he_o be_v unsuitable_a to_o the_o reward_n of_o heaven_n both_o which_o be_v holy_a first_o every_o wicked_a man_n be_v unsuitable_a to_o the_o work_n of_o heaven_n what_o shall_v be_v the_o work_n of_o holy_a soul_n in_o heaven_n but_o to_o admire_v and_o adore_v to_o bless_v and_o praise_v and_o with_o pleasure_n and_o delight_n to_o love_n and_o serve_v god_n for_o ever_o this_o be_v that_o joyful_a work_n wherein_o saint_n and_o angle_n shall_v spend_v a_o eternity_n in_o and_o can_v thou_o o_o profane_a sinner_n who_o have_v all_o thy_o life_n time_n accustom_v thyself_o to_o wallow_v in_o sin_n and_o uncleanness_n impose_v such_o a_o cheat_n upon_o thy_o soul_n as_o to_o think_v thou_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o crowd_n into_o the_o number_n of_o that_o holy_a and_o bless_a company_n in_o heaven_n and_o there_o join_v with_o they_o in_o those_o holy_a and_o bless_a work_n that_o will_v be_v the_o delight_n of_o those_o holy_a one_o to_o all_o eternity_n if_o sanctification_n and_o holiness_n be_v the_o only_a qualification_n that_o manifest_v any_o do_v belong_v to_o that_o holy_a place_n what_o shall_v we_o then_o say_v unto_o all_o wicked_a and_o profane_a sinner_n who_o not_o only_o take_v no_o delight_n in_o the_o practice_n of_o holiness_n but_o unto_o who_o the_o thought_n of_o it_o be_v grievous_a and_o burdensome_a who_o be_v so_o far_o from_o keep_v up_o in_o their_o mind_n constant_a meditation_n of_o holy_a thing_n accompany_v with_o strong_a and_o lively_a affection_n towards_o they_o that_o they_o know_v no_o task_n or_o burden_n so_o heavy_a upon_o they_o nor_o so_o affictive_a to_o they_o nor_o that_o they_o undertake_v so_o unwilling_o as_o the_o duty_n of_o holiness_n and_o obedience_n oh_o what_o a_o trouble_n to_o they_o be_v it_o sometime_o to_o be_v draw_v though_o but_o to_o the_o external_a performance_n of_o holy_a duty_n witness_v their_o so_o seldom_o engage_v in_o they_o with_o their_o so_o slight_a and_o careless_a management_n of_o they_o if_o i_o shall_v now_o inquire_v what_o be_v the_o reason_n of_o all_o this_o why_o true_o that_o which_o lie_v at_o the_o bottom_n of_o all_o be_v a_o unholy_a heart_n a_o unsanctified_a nature_n and_o what_o will_v such_o as_o these_o do_v in_o heaven_n will_v not_o that_o holy_a place_n be_v a_o hell_n rather_o than_o a_o heaven_n to_o they_o a_o place_n of_o torment_n rather_o than_o a_o place_n of_o happiness_n it_o be_v that_o place_n where_o saint_n and_o angel_n spend_v a_o eternity_n in_o the_o most_o holy_a fix_a contemplation_n and_o most_o ardent_a love_n of_o god_n and_o sure_o they_o that_o can_v bear_v the_o weak_a and_o imperfect_a holiness_n of_o the_o people_n of_o god_n here_o without_o rail_v at_o it_o as_o a_o piece_n of_o unnecessary_a and_o peevish_a preciseness_n will_v never_o be_v able_a to_o bear_v that_o perfect_a spotless_a holiness_n that_o be_v in_o heaven_n in_o
this_o world_n wicked_a man_n at_o once_o both_o vex_v and_o laugh_v at_o the_o purity_n and_o holiness_n of_o the_o saint_n inward_o they_o vex_v and_o fret_v at_o it_o though_o outward_o in_o their_o speech_n and_o countenance_n they_o laugh_v and_o deride_v it_o yea_o and_o to_o some_o it_o be_v though_o it_o be_v a_o devilish_a contentment_n to_o they_o that_o they_o can_v reproach_v the_o defect_n of_o the_o godly_a shall_v such_o as_o these_o enter_v heaven_n while_o they_o be_v such_o heaven_n will_v be_v a_o place_n of_o exact_a torture_n and_o torment_n to_o they_o because_o there_o they_o will_v find_v nothing_o of_o that_o sin_n and_o wickedness_n which_o be_v agreeable_a to_o their_o corrupt_a heart_n and_o nature_n but_o contrary_o all_o that_o purity_n and_o withal_o certain_a and_o unavoidable_a misery_n of_o all_o unregenerate_a unsanctified_a person_n for_o though_o heaven_n be_v a_o place_n of_o unconceivable_a bliss_n and_o happiness_n yet_o heaven_n itself_o can_v make_v such_o as_o they_o be_v happy_a tell_v i_o o_o all_o you_o wicked_a and_o profane_a wretch_n who_o think_v no_o time_n misspend_v or_o lose_v but_o what_o be_v throw_v away_o in_o holy_a duty_n that_o grudge_n at_o every_o word_n speak_v in_o prayer_n that_o think_v much_o of_o every_o sand_n in_o the_o glass_n that_o run_v at_o a_o sermon_n and_o unto_o who_o every_o summons_n to_o the_o public_a service_n of_o god_n be_v as_o unacceptable_a as_o their_o pass_a bell_n that_o cry_n when_o will_v the_o sabbath_n be_v go_v and_o the_o ordinance_n be_v over_o what_o will_v you_o do_v in_o heaven_n or_o what_o can_v such_o unholy_a heart_n as_o you_o do_v there_o where_o a_o sabbath_n shall_v not_o be_v bare_o as_o long_o as_o a_o day_n or_o a_o week_n or_o a_o year_n but_o as_o long_o as_o eternity_n itself_o where_o there_o shall_v be_v nothing_o but_o a_o continual_a performance_n of_o holy_a duty_n and_o service_n without_o so_o much_o as_o one_o spare_a minute_n or_o a_o vain_a thought_n or_o a_o idle_a word_n for_o ever_o where_o whatsoever_o you_o shall_v hear_v see_v or_o converse_v with_o shall_v be_v all_o holy_a and_o let_v i_o add_v this_o by_o how_o much_o the_o more_o perfect_a the_o holiness_n of_o heaven_n be_v than_o what_o the_o holiness_n of_o the_o saint_n here_o on_o earth_n be_v by_o so_o much_o the_o more_o irksome_a and_o intolerable_a will_v it_o be_v to_o the_o wicked_a for_o if_o their_o sore_a eye_n can_v endure_v the_o light_n of_o a_o star_n how_o will_v they_o be_v able_a to_o bear_v the_o dazzle_a brightness_n of_o the_o sun_n second_o wicked_a man_n be_v not_o only_o unsuitable_a to_o the_o work_n of_o heaven_n but_o they_o be_v unsuitable_a to_o the_o reward_n of_o heaven_n the_o work_n of_o heaven_n be_v holy_a and_o spiritual_a and_o so_o be_v the_o reward_n of_o heaven_n a_o holy_a and_o spiritual_a reward_n and_o it_o lie_v chief_o in_o two_o thing_n both_o of_o they_o unsuitable_a to_o a_o wicked_a and_o carnal_a heart_n one_o be_v a_o clear_a and_o constant_a vision_n of_o the_o great_a and_o bless_a god_n and_o the_o other_o be_v a_o unconceivable_a entireness_n of_o communion_n and_o fellowship_n with_o he_o now_o of_o all_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n these_o be_v the_o thing_n which_o as_o unboly_n person_n be_v unacquainted_a with_o so_o of_o all_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n they_o can_v endure_v to_o speak_v of_o each_o of_o these_o brief_o first_o for_o the_o reward_n of_o heaven_n that_o consist_v in_o a_o clear_a constant_a vision_n of_o the_o great_a god_n this_o a_o sinner_n can_v bear_v nothing_o be_v more_o terrible_a to_o a_o guilty_a sinner_n than_o the_o sight_n of_o a_o righteous_a and_o holy_a god_n the_o scripture_n acquaint_v we_o that_o many_o of_o god_n own_o people_n have_v have_v dreadful_a apprehension_n of_o god_n upon_o some_o though_o but_o restrain_v discovery_n that_o he_o have_v be_v please_v to_o make_v of_o himself_o unto_o they_o thus_o job_n in_o job_n 42.5_o 6._o i_o have_v hear_v of_o thou_o by_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o ear_n but_o now_o my_o eye_n see_v thou_o wherefore_o i_o abhor_v myself_o and_o repent_v in_o dust_n none_o in_o heaven_n but_o god_n and_o that_o there_o be_v none_o on_o earth_n that_o he_o desire_v in_o comparison_n of_o he_o and_o the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o himself_o and_o other_o believer_n say_v their_o fellowship_n be_v with_o the_o father_n and_o with_o his_o son_n jesus_n christ_n and_o o_o how_o sweet_a and_o delightful_a be_v those_o intercourse_n that_o pass_v between_o god_n and_o holy_a soul_n in_o the_o duty_n of_o his_o worship_n and_o service_n o_o what_o bless_a exchange_n of_o love_n for_o love_n what_o return_v of_o obedience_n and_o praise_n for_o grace_n and_o mercy_n receive_v which_o be_v the_o sweetness_n of_o every_o duty_n and_o that_o which_o powerful_o draw_v and_o engage_v holy_a soul_n to_o the_o daily_a performance_n of_o they_o and_o in_o heaven_n in_o self_n the_o fullness_n and_o perfection_n of_o the_o saint_n happiness_n be_v that_o there_o they_o shall_v be_v for_o ever_o with_o the_o lord_n now_o these_o spiritual_a and_o heavenly_a enjoyment_n wicked_a man_n be_v not_o only_o unsuitable_a to_o but_o they_o be_v thing_n which_o they_o also_o hate_v they_o be_v ever_o stranger_n to_o they_o here_o on_o earth_n and_o how_o then_o shall_v they_o be_v fit_a for_o they_o in_o heaven_n certain_o for_o wicked_a man_n to_o be_v tie_v up_o to_o such_o spirituality_n as_o these_o will_v make_v heaven_n itself_o but_o a_o uncomfortable_a place_n to_o they_o but_o though_o wicked_a man_n be_v neither_o fit_v for_o the_o work_n nor_o suit_v to_o the_o reward_n of_o heaven_n yet_o be_v there_o both_o a_o work_n and_o a_o reward_n in_o heaven_n that_o remain_v to_o be_v perform_v and_o enjoy_v by_o the_o people_n of_o god_n that_o heaven_n be_v a_o place_n of_o rest_n ease_n and_o refreshment_n be_v the_o common_a and_o receive_a notion_n that_o all_o man_n have_v of_o it_o but_o that_o be_v not_o all_o that_o the_o happiness_n of_o heaven_n be_v make_v up_o of_o for_o it_o be_v not_o only_o a_o place_n of_o rest_n but_o it_o be_v also_o a_o place_n
that_o he_o be_v free_a and_o may_v do_v what_o he_o will_v with_o his_o own_o these_o now_o be_v some_o of_o those_o scripture_n that_o be_v make_v use_n of_o for_o and_o against_o this_o assertion_n of_o the_o saint_n have_v different_a degree_n of_o glory_n in_o heaven_n which_o be_v the_o truth_n i_o shall_v not_o affirm_v i_o be_o inclinable_a to_o believe_v that_o there_o shall_v be_v different_a degree_n of_o glory_n in_o heaven_n but_o withal_o let_v i_o add_v though_o it_o be_v possible_a that_o some_o may_v have_v great_a degree_n of_o glory_n than_o other_o yet_o all_o shall_v partake_v of_o the_o same_o happiness_n nay_o all_o shall_v have_v as_o much_o of_o glory_n and_o happiness_n as_o they_o can_v contain_v though_o one_o vessel_n may_v hold_v more_o than_o another_o yet_o all_o shall_v be_v as_o full_a as_o they_o can_v hold_v nay_o further_o which_o be_v yet_o more_o all_o the_o saint_n in_o glory_n shall_v enjoy_v the_o happiness_n of_o heaven_n in_o the_o same_o perpetuity_n one_o as_o well_o as_o another_o for_o eternity_n shall_v be_v the_o measure_n of_o all_o their_o happiness_n but_o whether_o there_o shall_v be_v different_a degree_n of_o glory_n in_o heaven_n hereafter_o or_o not_o yet_o may_v the_o people_n of_o god_n at_o present_a make_v this_o double_a improvement_n of_o it_o first_o if_o there_o shall_v be_v different_a degree_n of_o glory_n in_o heaven_n than_o the_o consideration_n hereof_o shall_v exite_fw-la christian_n to_o labour_n after_o the_o high_a degree_n of_o grace_n that_o be_v attainable_a in_o this_o life_n because_o this_o be_v the_o way_n to_o increase_v their_o glory_n in_o heaven_n and_o sure_o to_o be_v ambitious_o covetous_a after_o the_o high_a place_n in_o heaven_n be_v very_o commendable_a in_o any_o who_o will_v not_o be_v desirous_a to_o have_v his_o seat_n in_o that_o heavenly_a jerusalem_n next_o to_o cherubim_n and_o seraphim_n shall_v isay_n nay_o if_o it_o be_v possible_a to_o possess_v that_o very_a place_n in_o heaven_n that_o the_o belove_a disciple_n st._n john_n hold_v here_o upon_o earth_n when_o he_o lie_v in_o the_o bosom_n embrace_v of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n if_o our_o growth_n and_o increase_n in_o grace_n shall_v certain_o be_v the_o increase_n of_o our_o glory_n and_o happiness_n hereafter_o who_o be_v there_o then_o that_o will_v be_v so_o stature_n oh_o than_o what_o matter_n of_o joy_n and_o consolation_n may_v it_o be_v unto_o thou_o o_o weak_a believer_n to_o consider_v that_o though_o now_o thy_o grace_n be_v poor_a and_o weak_a thy_o fear_n and_o doubt_n be_v many_o thy_o corruption_n restless_a and_o importunate_a thy_o temptation_n strong_a and_o potent_a and_o almost_o irresistible_a though_o thou_o see_v thyself_o outdo_v by_o many_o in_o the_o way_n of_o holiness_n who_o thou_o great_o admire_v and_o will_v with_o all_o thy_o soul_n imitate_v and_o follow_v yea_o overtake_v and_o equal_v in_o their_o pace_n to_o heaven_n but_o thou_o can_v not_o yet_o know_v for_o thy_o comfort_n that_o at_o the_o last_o day_n the_o same_o sentence_n of_o absolution_n that_o be_v pronounce_v upon_o other_o shall_v acquit_v and_o absolve_v thou_o also_o the_o same_o heaven_n that_o shall_v be_v open_v unto_o other_o for_o their_o eternal_a blessedness_n shall_v be_v open_v to_o receive_v thou_o into_o that_o at_o the_o resurrection_n of_o the_o saint_n which_o he_o there_o call_v the_o child_n of_o god_n and_o the_o child_n of_o the_o resurrection_n shall_v be_v equal_a unto_o the_o angel_n may_v be_v it_o ready_o cheerful_o universal_o and_o constant_o and_o thus_o shall_v the_o saint_n serve_v god_n and_o do_v his_o will_n when_o they_o come_v to_o heaven_n here_o the_o people_n of_o god_n often_o complain_v that_o their_o spirit_n be_v hold_v down_o by_o the_o flesh_n so_o that_o though_o they_o have_v a_o willing_a mind_n yet_o how_o to_o perform_v that_o which_o be_v good_a as_o they_o will_v they_o find_v not_o the_o spirit_n indeed_o in_o they_o be_v willing_a but_o the_o flesh_n be_v weak_a oh_o how_o do_v they_o therefore_o mourn_v under_o the_o impediment_n of_o nature_n with_o which_o they_o be_v load_v and_o oppress_v and_o if_o at_o any_o time_n they_o do_v attain_v to_o a_o more_o than_o ordinary_a height_n and_o frame_n of_o spirit_n that_o their_o soul_n be_v delightful_a to_o themselves_o three_o the_o saint_n in_o heaven_n shall_v be_v like_a unto_o the_o argel_n in_o their_o way_n of_o live_v what_o that_o be_v our_o lord_n himself_o tell_v we_o luke_n 20.36_o where_o speak_v of_o the_o state_n of_o the_o people_n of_o god_n after_o the_o resurrection_n he_o say_v they_o neither_o marry_v nor_o be_v give_v in_o marriage_n neither_o can_v they_o die_v any_o more_o by_o which_o expression_n our_o saviour_n give_v we_o to_o understand_v what_o kind_n of_o life_n the_o saint_n shall_v live_v in_o heaven_n a_o life_n like_a unto_o that_o of_o the_o angel_n who_o have_v no_o manner_n of_o converse_n with_o live_v not_o on_o the_o use_n of_o or_o in_o dependence_n

their_o mad_a laughter_n and_o the_o joy_n of_o the_o wicked_a be_v no_o more_o their_o heart_n be_v sorrowful_a prov._n 14.13_o in_o esay_n 57.20_o we_o read_v the_o wicked_a be_v like_o the_o trouble_a sea_n when_o it_o can_v rest_v who_o water_n cast_v up_o mire_n and_o dirt_n there_o be_v always_o filth_n and_o pollution_n in_o the_o conscience_n of_o wicked_a man_n which_o make_v they_o over_o their_o head_n shall_v wrap_v and_o swallow_v they_o up_o in_o darkness_n and_o so_o overwhelm_v their_o spirit_n with_o sorrow_n that_o the_o hope_n of_o heaven_n whither_o they_o expect_v short_o to_o be_v bring_v shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o dissipate_v and_o scatter_v yea_o to_o turn_v their_o trouble_n and_o sorrow_n into_o ravishment_n of_o joy_n and_o comfort_n four_o be_v there_o such_o a_o state_n of_o glory_n and_o happiness_n to_o be_v enjoy_v by_o the_o people_n of_o god_n hereafter_o let_v thy_o thought_n and_o meditation_n then_o o_o christian_n be_v daily_o employ_v in_o contemplate_v upon_o it_o heaven_n in_o reference_n unto_o man_n be_v make_v for_o these_o two_o end_n contemplation_n and_o enjoyment_n now_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o heaven_n be_v a_o duration_n that_o shall_v never_o know_v a_o end_n now_o though_o in_o heaven_n there_o be_v the_o enjoyment_n of_o all_o these_o thing_n for_o there_o be_v no_o sickness_n nor_o disease_n no_o pain_n nor_o sorrow_n but_o a_o perfect_a freedom_n from_o all_o that_o be_v evil_a and_o a_o eternal_a enjoyment_n of_o what_o be_v pleasant_a and_o delightful_a yet_o these_o thing_n be_v the_o least_o and_o mean_a part_n of_o the_o happiness_n of_o heaven_n it_o be_v true_a be_v there_o nothing_o more_o nothing_o great_a nor_o better_o to_o be_v enjoy_v than_o what_o these_o thing_n amount_v unto_o a_o eternity_n of_o health_n without_o sickness_n of_o pleasure_n without_o pain_n of_o delight_n without_o sorrow_n be_v a_o very_a great_a happiness_n but_o when_o all_o these_o thing_n be_v compare_v with_o the_o infinite_o great_a and_o bless_a god_n with_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o his_o love_n and_o presence_n the_o see_v of_o his_o face_n perfection_n of_o grace_n and_o holiness_n
