by_o another_o name_n call_v proselyte_n adventitious_a jew_n but_o we_o be_v here_o to_o observe_v these_o nation_n do_v not_o hear_v the_o apostle_n speak_v as_o some_o say_v of_o they_o like_o drunkard_n nor_o any_o vain_a or_o idle_a thing_n but_o only_o the_o wonder_n of_o almighty_a god_n such_o as_o the_o prophet_n have_v foretell_v christ_n teach_v and_o be_v never_o till_o now_o understand_v nor_o believe_v and_o probable_o they_o begin_v here_o to_o preach_v the_o incarnation_n the_o nativity_n the_o life_n and_o death_n the_o resurrection_n the_o ascension_n of_o our_o saviour_n the_o reason_n of_o this_o prodigious_a come_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n as_o send_v by_o christ_n the_o mystery_n of_o the_o bless_a trinity_n and_o all_o thing_n else_o that_o be_v the_o main_a head_n of_o christian_a doctrine_n and_o otherwise_o appertain_v to_o the_o splendour_n of_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n and_o to_o the_o abrogation_n of_o the_o synagogue_n or_o jewish_a church_n the_o application_n 1._o the_o illustration_n upon_o the_o prayer_n and_o the_o explication_n of_o the_o text_n render_v this_o epistle_n so_o clear_a that_o little_o more_o needs_o to_o be_v say_v then_o to_o mind_v the_o christian_a reader_n that_o as_o by_o our_o saviour_n first_o come_n to_o we_o god_n be_v real_o make_v man_n so_o the_o come_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v with_o a_o desire_n to_o make_v man_n become_v in_o a_o manner_n god_n but_o with_o this_o difference_n among_o other_o that_o god_n so_o assume_v humane_a nature_n as_o he_o do_v no_o way_n desert_n nor_o lessen_v his_o own_o which_o be_v divineâ—_n whereas_o man_n to_o be_v deify_v must_v relinquish_v and_o divest_v himself_o of_o his_o humanity_n at_o least_o of_o his_o humane_a addiction_n and_o affection_n and_o must_v call_v upon_o the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o create_v in_o he_o a_o new_a breast_n a_o new_a heart_n if_o not_o a_o new_a soul_n too_o 2._o and_o real_o it_o seem_v to_o have_v be_v the_o chief_a aim_n of_o jesus_n christ_n to_o work_v upon_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n but_o in_o part_n only_o that_o be_v to_o elevate_v their_o reason_n and_o to_o illuminate_v their_o understanding_n by_o the_o gift_n and_o light_n of_o faith_n leave_v it_o to_o the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o perfect_v the_o same_o soul_n will_n by_o charingâ—_n by_o add_v the_o heat_n the_o fire_n of_o love_n to_o the_o light_n of_o faâ—â—_n 〈◊〉_d hence_o it_o be_v our_o saviour_n say_v he_o come_v to_o send_v fire_n into_o the_o world_n and_o what_o will_v he_o else_o thereby_o but_o that_o this_o fire_n shall_v burn_v burn_v up_o he_o mean_v the_o old_a man_n with_o all_o his_o stubble_n of_o sin_n and_o consume_v even_o his_o affection_n unto_o vice_n by_o set_v his_o heart_n whole_o upon_o virtue_n upon_o goodness_n upon_o heaven_n upon_o glory_n upon_o blissful_a eternity_n upon_o almighty_a god_n as_o amiable_a object_n indeed_o whereas_o all_o thing_n else_o be_v but_o like_a foil_n as_o man_n that_o he_o go_v to_o his_o father_n who_o as_o god_n be_v never_o from_o he_o nor_o can_v be_v and_o so_o christ_n as_o god_n be_v great_a than_o himself_o as_o man_n much_o more_o than_o be_v his_o father_n great_a than_o he_o in_o that_o true_a sense_n he_o speak_v this_o in_o though_o according_a to_o humane_a sense_n and_o reason_n the_o father_n as_o god_n be_v also_o great_a than_o the_o son_n as_o god_n because_o he_o be_v the_o origin_n of_o the_o son_n or_o his_o beginning_n how_o ever_o the_o son_n be_v equal_a to_o he_o in_o essence_n and_o power_n so_o it_o be_v a_o majority_n in_o our_o understanding_n at_o least_o though_o not_o in_o the_o thing_n understand_v but_o the_o arrian_n heresy_n be_v ground_v on_o a_o mistake_n of_o the_o analogy_n between_o divine_a and_o humane_a generation_n for_o though_o among_o man_n the_o father_n be_v many_o way_n better_a and_o great_a than_o the_o son_n as_o for_o example_n because_o he_o be_v old_a than_o the_o son_n and_o be_v in_o be_v before_o he_o again_o because_o he_o a_o tall_a father_n beget_v at_o first_o a_o little_a son_n beside_o his_o son_n be_v a_o thing_n numerical_o nay_o substantial_o distinct_a from_o the_o father_n last_o because_o the_o father_n have_v liberty_n and_o can_v have_v choose_v whether_o or_o no_o he_o will_v have_v beget_v a_o son_n yet_o in_o god_n all_o be_v quite_o otherwise_o for_o there_o be_v no_o priority_n nor_o posteriority_n no_o majority_n nor_o minority_n no_o numerical_a nor_o substantial_a difference_n in_o deity_n between_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n though_o there_o be_v a_o numerical_a difference_n in_o their_o personality_n neither_o be_v there_o any_o liberty_n but_o a_o absolute_a necessity_n of_o the_o son_n generation_n and_o of_o his_o being_n coaeval_fw-fr coequal_a and_o absolute_o one_o and_o the_o same_o essential_a numerical_a and_o necessary_a god_n with_o his_o eternal_a father_n 29._o the_o belief_n he_o here_o aim_v to_o gain_n be_v that_o of_o his_o deity_n and_o of_o his_o voluntary_a not_o co-act_a or_o enforce_v death_n for_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o people_n so_o that_o which_o he_o foretell_v here_o be_v his_o death_n his_o resurrection_n his_o ascension_n and_o his_o send_v the_o holy_a ghost_n unto_o they_o after_o he_o be_v ascend_v that_o when_o they_o see_v all_o thing_n happen_v as_o he_o have_v for_o all_o event_n he_o tell_v they_o he_o will_v not_o say_v much_o more_o unto_o they_o because_o the_o devil_n who_o he_o call_v the_o prince_n of_o this_o world_n come_v be_v at_o hand_n in_o his_o minister_n the_o jew_n to_o persecute_v he_o to_o death_n and_o he_o therefore_o call_v he_o prince_n of_o the_o world_n because_o by_o sin_n the_o world_n enslave_v itself_o unto_o he_o he_o
