perdition_n without_o stop_n or_o check_v yea_o labour_v all_o he_o can_v to_o make_v they_o easy_a and_o pleasant_a to_o our_o corrupt_a flesh_n yet_o when_o we_o set_v our_o face_n towards_o the_o heavenly_a canaan_n he_o pursue_v we_o with_o all_o malice_n and_o fury_n encounter_v we_o with_o a_o huge_a host_n of_o hellish_a tentation_n and_o stop_v our_o course_n with_o innumerable_a impediment_n and_o discouragement_n which_o he_o cast_v in_o our_o way_n that_o we_o may_v return_v again_o into_o the_o egyptian_a slavery_n and_o glut_v ourselves_o with_o sensual_a and_o sinful_a pleasure_n yea_o no_o soon_o do_v we_o conceive_v a_o good_a thought_n or_o godly_a motion_n but_o he_o watch_v we_o that_o he_o may_v take_v all_o opportunity_n of_o kill_v it_o in_o the_o womb_n and_o to_o make_v it_o a_o abortive_a 4._o apoc._n 12._o 4._o birth_n or_o of_o strangle_v it_o as_o soon_o as_o it_o be_v bear_v and_o see_v the_o light_n that_o so_o he_o may_v dishearten_v we_o by_o many_o discouragement_n from_o proceed_v in_o well_o do_v let_v we_o know_v that_o as_o he_o be_v a_o malicious_a dragon_n so_o a_o strong_a and_o mighty_a lion_n who_o still_o stand_v in_o our_o way_n arm_v with_o sufficient_a power_n to_o destroy_v and_o devour_v we_o if_o we_o be_v leave_v to_o his_o fury_n that_o he_o be_v a_o crafty_a old_a serpent_n excel_v in_o natural_a subtlety_n and_o through_o long_a and_o great_a experience_n able_a by_o a_o thousand_o cunning_a device_n to_o supplant_v and_o stop_v we_o in_o the_o way_n of_o godliness_n be_v well_o able_a through_o his_o deep_a policy_n to_o use_v and_o employ_v all_o his_o force_n for_o his_o best_a advantage_n final_o that_o he_o be_v most_o vigilant_a and_o never_o sleep_v most_o diligent_a and_o never_o rest_v but_o night_n and_o day_n go_v about_o seek_v to_o devour_v we_o by_o entice_v 8._o 1._o pet._n 5._o 8._o we_o to_o come_v within_o the_o reach_n of_o his_o cruel_a paw_n whilst_o we_o wander_v and_o go_v astray_o out_o of_o the_o way_n of_o godliness_n and_o so_o be_v out_o of_o the_o protection_n of_o our_o great_a and_o gracious_a shepherd_n §._o sect._n 2_o how_o we_o may_v remove_v the_o former_a impediment_n but_o that_o this_o may_v not_o discourage_v we_o from_o enter_v into_o and_o proceed_v in_o the_o way_n of_o godliness_n let_v we_o consider_v that_o whilst_o we_o study_v and_o endeavour_n to_o serve_v and_o please_v god_n in_o all_o holy_a and_o christian_a duty_n we_o be_v in_o his_o grace_n and_o favour_n and_o under_o his_o protection_n and_o have_v he_o on_o our_o side_n we_o need_v not_o to_o fear_v though_o satan_n and_o all_o the_o power_n of_o hell_n bandy_v themselves_o against_o us._n and_o therefore_o let_v we_o encourage_v ourselves_o against_o the_o malice_n of_o the_o devil_n by_o set_v against_o it_o god_n infinite_a and_o inestimable_a love_n towards_o all_o that_o fear_n and_o serve_v 31._o rom._n 8._o 31._o he_o which_o be_v more_o powerful_a to_o save_v and_o defend_v we_o than_o satan_n malice_n to_o hurt_v and_o destroy_v us._n let_v we_o remember_v that_o the_o lord_n have_v love_v 3._o jer._n 31._o 3._o we_o with_o a_o jealous_a of_o our_o safety_n that_o he_o who_o touch_v we_o 8._o zach._n 2._o 8._o touch_v the_o apple_n of_o his_o eye_n and_o therefore_o as_o well_o will_v he_o suffer_v satan_n malice_n to_o impeach_v his_o own_o majesty_n as_o to_o hurt_v we_o who_o be_v so_o dear_a unto_o he_o and_o though_o he_o have_v such_o a_o spite_n and_o spleen_n against_o we_o that_o he_o will_v and_o desire_v above_o all_o thing_n that_o god_n may_v be_v dishonour_v in_o our_o destruction_n yet_o let_v we_o cheerful_o go_v on_o in_o the_o way_n of_o godliness_n see_v god_n almighty_a and_o all-ruling_a will_n oppose_v and_o oversway_v he_o and_o with_o no_o less_o earnestness_n seek_v our_o preservation_n and_o salvation_n according_a to_o that_o of_o our_o saviour_n this_o be_v the_o will_n of_o he_o that_o send_v i_o that_o every_o one_o which_o see_v the_o son_n and_o believe_v on_o he_o 40._o joh._n 6._o 40._o may_v have_v everlasting_a life_n and_o i_o will_v raise_v he_o up_o at_o the_o last_o day_n §._o sect._n 3_o that_o satan_n might_n &_o malice_n compare_v with_o our_o weakness_n and_o simplicity_n must_v not_o discourage_v we_o and_o the_o reason_n hereof_o neither_o let_v though_o we_o see_v mountainous_a difficulty_n impossible_a in_o respect_n of_o our_o own_o strength_n to_o be_v overpass_o on_o either_o hand_n a_o sea_n of_o trouble_n and_o danger_n before_o we_o and_o a_o huge_a host_n of_o spiritual_a enemy_n arm_v at_o all_o point_n with_o hellish_a tentation_n pursue_v we_o at_o our_o back_n let_v we_o go_v on_o in_o our_o course_n without_o dread_n see_v those_o which_o be_v on_o our_o side_n be_v more_o and_o more_o mighty_a than_o those_o which_o be_v against_o us._n and_o first_o when_o we_o see_v our_o own_o want_n and_o weakness_n oppose_v with_o such_o malicious_a might_n and_o hellish_a fury_n let_v not_o this_o dismay_v we_o see_v it_o be_v a_o great_a part_n of_o our_o strength_n to_o see_v our_o weakness_n and_o we_o be_v best_a arm_v when_o we_o see_v acknowledge_v and_o bewail_v our_o own_o nakedness_n for_o this_o will_v make_v we_o more_o careful_a to_o provide_v and_o put_v on_o the_o spiritual_a armour_n especial_o the_o shield_n of_o faith_n and_o the_o sword_n of_o the_o spirit_n whereby_o we_o shall_v be_v enable_v to_o quench_v the_o fiery_a dart_n of_o the_o wicked_a one_o and_o to_o stand_v fast_o and_o 16._o eph._n 6._o 16._o firm_a against_o all_o his_o tentation_n in_o the_o evil_a day_n wherewith_o if_o we_o be_v thorough_o arm_v we_o can_v never_o be_v foil_v or_o if_o through_o our_o frailty_n and_o infirmity_n we_o find_v herein_o many_o want_n and_o imperfection_n this_o must_v not_o discourage_v we_o see_v our_o armour_n have_v not_o so_o much_o sufficiency_n to_o defend_v we_o in_o its_o own_o strength_n as_o from_o the_o author_n that_o make_v it_o and_o give_v it_o for_o our_o use_n who_o be_v almighty_a to_o make_v good_a his_o own_o work_n and_o to_o be_v of_o high_a proof_n against_o all_o tentation_n will_v never_o suffer_v those_o to_o be_v vanquish_v who_o be_v of_o his_o arm_n but_o will_v manifest_v his_o power_n in_o their_o infirmity_n and_o glorify_v himself_o in_o their_o victory_n again_o the_o sight_n and_o sense_n of_o our_o weakness_n and_o our_o enemy_n power_n must_v not_o so_o dismay_v we_o as_o that_o we_o shall_v desist_v in_o our_o course_n but_o drive_v we_o unto_o the_o god_n
