time_n whereby_o they_o be_v now_o clean_o wear_v out_o of_o the_o memory_n of_o all_o man_n see_v therefore_o among_o such_o a_o multitude_n of_o psalm_n when_o the_o law_n be_v yet_o in_o his_o full_a force_n &_o power_n some_o be_v wont_a to_o be_v song_n with_o one_o manner_n of_o ceremony_n and_o some_o with_o a_o other_o according_a to_o the_o time_n and_o place_n as_o the_o use_n and_o custom_n than_o be_v let_v this_o suffice_v we_o to_o think_v that_o this_o title_n pertain_v to_o no_o point_n of_o doctrine_n but_o only_o to_o the_o ceremony_n of_o the_o singer_n what_o manner_n of_o ceremony_n soever_o it_o be_v there_o be_v 24._o order_n of_o priest_n which_o serve_v in_o the_o temple_n it_o may_v be_v therefore_o that_o sometime_o the_o choir_n song_n alone_o and_o not_o the_o people_n sometime_o but_o a_o part_n thereof_o and_o sometime_o they_o song_n by_o course_n and_o afterward_o also_o the_o people_n song_n &_o give_v a_o consent_n as_o it_o be_v unto_o the_o other_o but_o of_o these_o thing_n as_o i_o say_v we_o can_v have_v no_o certainty_n &_o also_o they_o help_v little_a to_o the_o understanding_n of_o the_o psalm_n and_o therefore_o i_o leave_v to_o they_o be_v most_o meet_a for_o the_o conclusion_n and_o close_v up_o of_o all_o the_o 120._o psalm_n i_o call_v unto_o the_o lord_n in_o my_o trouble_n etc_n etc_n psalm_n this_o psalm_n i_o judge_v to_o be_v a_o invocation_n or_o prayer_n for_o the_o help_n of_o god_n against_o evil_n and_o pestilent_a tongue_n or_o against_o such_o evil_n as_o pestilent_a tongue_n that_o be_v to_o say_v heretic_n bring_v into_o the_o church_n of_o god_n when_o they_o teach_v any_o thing_n against_o true_a and_o sound_a doctrine_n for_o that_o be_v a_o most_o perilous_a tentation_n when_o doctrine_n be_v assail_v and_o impugn_a for_o the_o devil_n have_v two_o way_n whereby_o he_o vex_v the_o church_n of_o god_n heresy_n and_o the_o sword_n or_o persecution_n for_o this_o cause_n our_o saviour_n christ_n also_o call_v he_o a_o liar_n and_o a_o murderer_n therefore_o all_o the_o psalm_n almost_o consist_v in_o these_o two_o point_n namely_o to_o call_v upon_o god_n for_o his_o help_n and_o protection_n either_o against_o satan_n the_o murderer_n satan_n or_o against_o satan_n the_o liar_n that_o be_v either_o against_o pestilent_a doctrine_n or_o else_o under_o the_o cross_n and_o persecution_n against_o cruel_a tyrant_n of_o murder_n there_o be_v diverse_a kind_n whereby_o satan_n afflict_v the_o church_n of_o god_n some_o he_o exercise_v with_o the_o fear_n of_o death_n murderer_n some_o with_o slander_n some_o with_o injury_n and_o oppression_n of_o enemy_n some_o with_o hatred_n and_o malice_n and_o some_o with_o other_o trouble_n and_o calamity_n and_o these_o do_v belong_v to_o persecution_n &_o cruelty_n liar_n to_o lie_v do_v belong_v those_o thing_n which_o he_o work_v by_o his_o minister_n special_o in_o the_o church_n of_o god_n through_o false_a doctrine_n and_o wicked_a opinion_n whereby_o he_o trouble_v man_n conscience_n also_o through_o inward_a tentation_n when_o he_o vex_v the_o godly_a with_o the_o venomous_a dart_n of_o desperation_n mistrust_n and_o blasphemy_n and_o so_o under_o the_o name_n of_o god_n who_o he_o may_v murther_v and_o carry_v unto_o hell_n for_o all_o these_o lie_v comprehend_v of_o these_o perilous_a tentation_n we_o see_v the_o church_n of_o god_n to_o have_v grievous_o complain_v not_o only_o in_o the_o psalm_n but_o also_o throughout_o the_o whole_a scripture_n that_o it_o have_v beâ—â—â—sore_n murder_n and_o bloodshed_n as_o among_o many_o other_o example_n of_o the_o church_n the_o murder_n of_o our_o first_o parent_n in_o paradise_n do_v well_o declare_v lie_v for_o satan_n with_o lie_v 4_o or_o 5._o or_o 10._o godly_a person_n be_v to_o be_v find_v for_o their_o sake_n the_o whole_a city_n be_v call_v holy_a for_o these_o be_v the_o elect_a corner_n stone_n these_o be_v the_o precious_a pearl_n which_o god_n so_o high_o esteem_v and_o for_o who_o sake_n he_o spare_v the_o wicked_a therefore_o say_v david_n as_o jerusalem_n be_v compass_v about_o with_o mountain_n so_o do_v the_o lord_n compass_v his_o people_n and_o mighty_o defend_v they_o on_o every_o side_n in_o like_a manner_n zachary_n prophesy_v of_o a_o city_n who_o wall_n be_v of_o fire_n these_o similitude_n bodily_a eye_n if_o we_o shall_v see_v ourselves_o compass_v about_o with_o brazen_a and_o fiery_a wall_n we_o will_v be_v without_o all_o fear_n and_o triumph_v against_o satan_n but_o it_o be_v a_o matter_n of_o faith_n not_o to_o trust_v unto_o that_o which_o the_o eye_n see_v but_o which_o the_o word_n offer_v and_o promise_v this_o one_o thing_n therefore_o be_v lack_v in_o we_o that_o we_o have_v not_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o spirit_n but_o we_o judge_v according_a to_o the_o eye_n and_o sense_n of_o the_o flesh_n for_o else_o we_o shall_v be_v no_o more_o afraid_a than_o they_o which_o be_v close_v within_o the_o wall_n of_o a_o invincible_a castle_n fear_v not_o the_o force_n and_o power_n of_o their_o enemy_n be_v they_o never_o so_o terrible_a we_o must_v not_o doubt_v therefore_o but_o if_o we_o believe_v we_o be_v compass_v about_o with_o fiery_a and_o brazen_a mountain_n that_o be_v to_o say_v we_o abide_v for_o ever_o invincible_a against_o the_o rage_n of_o his_o angel_n and_o minister_n can_v not_o hurt_v we_o as_o he_o will_v who_o malice_n and_o power_n be_v such_o that_o if_o they_o do_v not_o continual_o behold_v we_o continual_o defend_v we_o and_o watch_v over_o we_o he_o will_v destroy_v we_o every_o moment_n this_o can_v all_o they_o testify_v which_o know_v that_o satan_n be_v a_o murderer_n and_o a_o liar_n which_o can_v not_o abide_v to_o see_v the_o godly_a prosper_v &_o therefore_o he_o seek_v by_o all_o mean_n to_o root_v they_o out_o from_o the_o face_n of_o the_o earth_n that_o we_o be_v not_o then_o utter_o consume_v it_o be_v the_o benefit_n of_o these_o mountain_n by_o who_o we_o be_v so_o compass_v and_o defend_v some_o time_n satan_n hurl_v his_o dart_n at_o we_o as_o it_o be_v through_o the_o window_n to_o destroy_v we_o and_o work_v we_o in_o deed_n some_o sorrow_n but_o he_o can_v not_o move_v us._n this_o similitude_n seem_v to_o be_v take_v out_o of_o the_o story_n of_o helizeus_fw-la in_o the_o 2._o book_n of_o the_o king_n where_o the_o servant_n of_o helizeus_fw-la see_v the_o hill_n about_o he_o full_a of_o fiery_a chariote_n and_o horseman_n compass_n helizeus_fw-la round_a about_o and_o mighty_o defend_v he_o this_o succour_n which_o the_o servant_n of_o helizeus_fw-la see_v and_o the_o prophet_n believe_v when_o he_o see_v nothing_o be_v say_v the_o prophet_n round_o about_o all_o they_o which_o trust_v in_o the_o lord_n as_o also_o the_o 34._o psalm_n witness_v the_o angel_n of_o the_o lord_n pitch_v round_o about_o they_o that_o fear_v he_o but_o our_o eye_n be_v shut_v up_o and_o see_v not_o these_o miracle_n whereof_o notwithstanding_o we_o have_v daily_a experience_n this_o promise_n than_o will_v never_o deceive_v we_o only_o let_v we_o not_o deceive_v ourselves_o if_o therefore_o we_o do_v believe_v no_o doubt_n we_o shall_v sleep_v we_o shall_v live_v we_o shall_v die_v yea_o that_o more_o be_v we_o shall_v suffer_v what_o so_o ever_o satan_n and_o the_o world_n fiery_a wall_n that_o be_v with_o the_o sure_a custody_n the_o continual_a watch_n and_o ward_n of_o the_o angel_n but_o the_o lord_n himself_o be_v our_o wall_n so_o that_o every_o way_n we_o be_v defend_v by_o the_o lord_n against_o all_o danger_n above_o we_o he_o be_v a_o heaven_n on_o both_o side_n he_o be_v as_o a_o wall_n under_o we_o he_o be_v as_o a_o strong_a rock_n whereupon_o we_o stand_v so_o be_v we_o every_o way_n sure_a and_o safe_a now_o if_o satan_n through_o these_o munition_n cast_v his_o dart_n at_o we_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v that_o the_o lord_n himself_o shall_v be_v hurt_v before_o we_o take_v harm_n but_o great_a be_v our_o incredulity_n which_o hear_v all_o these_o thing_n in_o vain_a yet_o must_v they_o be_v teach_v and_o learn_v lest_o the_o time_n come_v that_o we_o be_v destitute_a of_o all_o counsel_n and_o comfort_n in_o these_o matter_n for_o certain_a it_o be_v that_o the_o hour_n shall_v come_v when_o we_o must_v have_v experience_n of_o these_o thing_n or_o else_o utter_o perish_v where_o he_o add_v from_o henceforth_o &_o for_o ever_o by_o these_o word_n he_o show_v that_o this_o vigilancy_n of_o the_o lord_n our_o god_n ever_o we_o be_v not_o temporal_a but_o eternal_a according_a to_o that_o which_o he_o say_v before_o in_o the_o first_o verse_n of_o this_o psalm_n they_o shall_v remain_v for_o ever_o let_v we_o learn_v therefore_o out_o of_o this_o psalm_n that_o our_o constancy_n and_o perseverance_n consist_v in_o this_o that_o we_o be_v defend_v by_o the_o power_n and_o providence_n of_o the_o lord_n on_o every_o true_a service_n and_o worship_n of_o god_n what_o shall_v i_o say_v more_o david_n have_v not_o many_o fellow_n whether_o you_o consider_v his_o life_n and_o his_o faith_n or_o the_o witness_n pronounce_v of_o he_o by_o the_o lord_n himself_o and_o yet_o he_o notwithstanding_o so_o excellent_a and_o so_o holy_a a_o man_n be_v compel_v plain_o to_o confess_v his_o imperfection_n say_v if_o
