be_v take_v up_o only_o with_o sensitive_a and_o sensual_a joy_n of_o mirth_n dance_a etc._n etc._n and_o do_v know_v or_o at_o least_o prize_v no_o other_o joy_n in_o comparison_n of_o those_o and_o though_o some_o unrenewed_a man_n may_v by_o the_o principle_n of_o sound_a reason_n be_v set_v above_o these_o toy_n yet_o where_o such_o a_o inclination_n prevail_v it_o be_v a_o sure_a evidence_n of_o a_o empty_a and_o carnal_a disposition_n 4._o the_o issue_n of_o all_o their_o prosperity_n v._o 13._o may_v teach_v 1._o the_o godly_a must_n nor_o stumble_v at_o the_o long_a continuance_n of_o the_o wicked_n prosperity_n and_o that_o they_o not_o only_o taste_v of_o it_o for_o a_o time_n but_o do_v even_o live_v wax_v old_a and_o spend_v their_o day_n in_o wealth_n or_o in_o good_a that_o be_v in_o a_o cheerful_a prosperous_a condition_n wherein_o they_o acquiesce_v as_o their_o good_a and_o chief_a happiness_n all_o this_o tract_n of_o prosperity_n be_v not_o sufficient_a to_o prove_v that_o they_o be_v in_o god_n favour_n and_o it_o be_v all_o little_a enough_o since_o they_o will_v get_v no_o more_o and_o the_o godly_a must_v be_v try_v by_o the_o continuance_n of_o this_o tentation_n which_o will_v discover_v how_o solid_a and_o fix_v their_o resolution_n be_v 2._o death_n and_o the_o grave_n will_v put_v a_o end_n to_o all_o the_o wicked_n prosperity_n for_o after_o resolve_v negative_o that_o man_n can_v find_v out_o this_o wisdom_n the_o reason_n be_v subjoin_v v._o 21_o 22._o that_o man_n whether_o they_o be_v consider_v as_o they_o live_v upon_o earth_n or_o though_o they_o can_v ascend_v near_a heaven_n with_o the_o fowl_n or_o go_v down_o and_o dive_v to_o the_o very_a pit_n and_o grave_n yet_o they_o can_v not_o find_v out_o this_o wisdom_n so_o the_o force_n of_o the_o reason_n be_v that_o man_n have_v no_o ability_n whereby_o to_o attain_v this_o wisdom_n neither_o will_v his_o common_a ability_n such_o as_o be_v communicate_v to_o all_o live_a serve_v his_o turn_n nor_o yet_o will_v the_o more_o elevate_a part_n of_o some_o above_o common_a engine_n who_o soar_v high_a like_o sowl_n or_o man_n long_a experience_n even_o unto_o death_n and_o experience_n of_o many_o remarkable_a plague_n and_o destruction_n by_o the_o way_n give_v they_o any_o more_o of_o this_o wisdom_n but_o only_o a_o fame_n and_o report_n of_o it_o doct._n 1._o it_o be_v again_o and_o again_o serious_o to_o be_v consider_v how_o impossible_a it_o be_v for_o man_n to_o comprehend_v the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n in_o the_o government_n of_o the_o world_n therefore_o be_v this_o question_n again_o repeat_v v._o 20._o to_o inculcate_v it_o upon_o we_o we_o be_v not_o soon_o convince_v of_o our_o ignorance_n of_o this_o and_o yet_o it_o be_v necessary_a to_o know_v that_o god_n hide_v many_o of_o his_o wise_a counsel_n from_o all_o the_o son_n of_o man_n that_o so_o we_o may_v be_v take_v off_o from_o needless_a and_o unprofitable_a toil_n our_o curiosity_n may_v be_v bridle_v and_o we_o may_v be_v humble_v and_o keep_v at_o our_o duty_n and_o at_o a_o constant_a dependence_n upon_o god_n 2._o let_v man_n shift_v and_o turn_v himself_o on_o every_o hand_n on_o earth_n in_o the_o air_n and_o depth_n yet_o he_o will_v still_o return_v a_o ignorant_a of_o this_o mystery_n as_o here_o we_o be_v teach_v it_o be_v our_o mercy_n that_o this_o toil_n attain_v for_o there_o may_v be_v a_o fame_n or_o report_v thereof_o hear_v 5._o it_o be_v destruction_n and_o death_n especial_o that_o afford_v we_o mean_n of_o this_o little_a knowledge_n which_o be_v attainable_a for_o it_o be_v destruction_n and_o death_n that_o say_v we_o have_v hear_v the_o fame_n thereof_o with_o our_o ear_n not_o that_o those_o to_o speak_v proper_o have_v ear_n to_o hear_v any_o thing_n or_o can_v give_v a_o account_n of_o what_o they_o hear_v but_o the_o meaning_n be_v that_o man_n may_v come_v the_o length_n of_o death_n and_o have_v this_o knowledge_n inculcate_v by_o remarkable_a plague_n upon_o themselves_o or_o other_o dan._n 4.17_o etc._n etc._n before_o they_o attain_v to_o any_o solid_a wisdom_n or_o understanding_n thereof_o as_o it_o be_v indeed_o general_o true_a that_o man_n be_v ready_a to_o go_v out_o of_o the_o world_n before_o they_o know_v how_o to_o live_v in_o it_o and_o little_o do_v they_o so_o understand_v as_o to_o lay_v it_o to_o heart_n except_o it_o be_v inculcate_v by_o some_o remarkable_a dispensation_n to_o their_o own_o cost_n and_o expense_n 6._o when_o man_n have_v pass_v through_o strange_a time_n of_o terrible_a and_o remarkable_a dispensation_n and_o have_v be_v observer_n of_o providence_n to_o their_o very_a grave_n all_o that_o they_o know_v of_o this_o wisdom_n of_o god_n be_v but_o a_o very_a and_o the_o place_n where_o to_o find_v it_o doct._n albeit_o all_o creature_n be_v shortsighted_a yet_o god_n be_v infinite_o wise_a and_o know_v what_o he_o be_v do_v and_o have_v wise_a reason_n for_o every_o dispensation_n of_o his_o providence_n for_o though_o none_o else_o can_v find_v out_o this_o wisdom_n v._o 12_o 20._o yet_o god_n understand_v the_o way_n thereof_o etc._n etc._n office_n so_o also_o what_o he_o be_v or_o will_v be_v as_o to_o his_o person_n and_o nature_n that_o it_o be_v in_o christ_n only_o that_o godly_a man_n can_v think_v to_o stand_v or_o have_v their_o integrity_n approve_v and_o that_o christ_n plead_v and_o intercession_n be_v a_o sweet_a antidote_n against_o the_o scorn_n and_o mistake_n of_o dear_a friend_n as_o he_o subjoin_v this_o to_o what_o he_o say_v of_o they_o v._o 20._o but_o this_o do_v not_o so_o well_o agree_v with_o job_n scope_n here_o who_o as_o former_o do_v assert_v his_o integrity_n rather_o by_o wish_v he_o may_v plead_v mode_n by_o way_n of_o wish_n as_o here_o it_o be_v but_o impersonal_o also_o not_o that_o he_o or_o one_o may_v plead_v but_o that_o there_o may_v be_v plead_v if_o i_o say_v the_o verb_n be_v thus_o render_v the_o text_n will_v run_v fair_o thus_o o_o that_o there_o may_v be_v plead_v for_o a_o man_n that_o be_v that_o a_o man_n may_v have_v leave_n and_o opportunity_n to_o plead_v with_o god_n as_o a_o man_n plead_v with_o his_o neighbour_n or_o friend_n and_o so_o the_o word_n contain_v a_o desire_n that_o he_o may_v plead_v his_o integrity_n as_o familiar_o with_o god_n as_o one_o man_n plead_v with_o another_o who_o be_v his_o friend_n i_o shall_v not_o insist_v on_o the_o particular_a weakness_n that_o may_v be_v mark_v in_o this_o desire_n of_o which_o see_v chap_n 9_o 34_o 35._o &_o chap._n 13.20_o 21_o 22._o here_o we_o may_v learn_v 1._o man_n scorn_n and_o misconstruction_n shall_v put_v man_n to_o seek_v to_o have_v their_o condition_n clear_v betwixt_o god_n and_o they_o for_o this_o job_n will_v be_v at_o when_o scorn_v by_o his_o friend_n 2._o there_o be_v no_o small_a disadvantage_n on_o the_o creature_n part_n in_o seek_v to_o plead_v with_o god_n consider_v the_o distance_n that_o be_v betwixt_o god_n and_o they_o for_o that_o job_n can_v wish_v this_o only_a import_v that_o god_n can_v be_v plead_v with_o as_o with_o a_o neighbour_n or_o friend_n and_o this_o strength_n of_o his_o faith_n that_o at_o all_o disadvantage_n of_o scorn_n from_o friend_n and_o affliction_n from_o god_n he_o be_v content_a to_o plead_v if_o he_o may_v 4._o man_n who_o have_v a_o good_a conscience_n have_v need_n to_o guard_v well_o under_o affliction_n and_o misconstruction_n that_o they_o miscarry_v not_o for_o job_n do_v over-drive_a in_o the_o rashness_n and_o presumption_n of_o his_o offer_n it_o be_v not_o enough_o man_n have_v a_o good_a conscience_n unless_o they_o bear_v it_o fair_a and_o sober_o 5._o weakness_n may_v very_o often_o recur_n and_o prevail_v over_o saint_n in_o a_o hour_n of_o trial_n as_o job_n fall_v again_o and_o again_o upon_o his_o passionate_a wish_n this_o shall_v humble_v we_o but_o not_o crush_v we_o as_o if_o we_o cloud_n beside_o for_o upon_o this_o supposition_n that_o he_o be_v to_o die_v short_o he_o desire_v to_o plead_v his_o cause_n that_o he_o may_v be_v clear_v beforehand_o 3._o man_n ought_v so_o much_o the_o rather_o to_o have_v all_o clear_a against_o death_n that_o after_o it_o there_o be_v no_o help_v of_o our_o condition_n if_o it_o be_v wrong_a as_o it_o be_v in_o other_o turn_v of_o our_o life_n for_o if_o once_o a_o man_n go_v that_o way_n he_o shall_v not_o return_v and_o this_o consideration_n make_v job_n the_o more_o solicitous_a to_o be_v clear_v 4._o the_o more_o near_a
