its_o mother_n which_o have_v bring_v it_o forth_o and_o do_v not_o hold_v the_o mother_n substance_n for_o its_o own_o but_o for_o common_a then_o the_o covetousness_n envy_n strife_n and_o contrary_a will_n and_o enmity_n will_v not_o arise_v from_o which_o the_o anger_n viz._n the_o fire_n of_o destruction_n do_v arise_v 9_o all_o sin_n arise_v from_o self_n for_o the_o self-hood_n do_v force_v itself_o with_o the_o desire_n into_o its_o self-fulness_n it_o make_v its_o self_n covetousness_n and_o envy_n it_o draw_v in_o its_o own_o desire_n strange_a effence_n into_o itself_o and_o make_v the_o possessor_n of_o the_o strange_a essence_n also_o a_o enemy_n against_o itself_o so_o that_o sin_n be_v wrought_v with_o sin_n vileness_n with_o vileness_n and_o all_o run_v confuse_o in_o and_o among_o one_o another_o as_o a_o mere_a abomination_n before_o the_o eternal_a mother_n 10._o in_o like_a manner_n also_o we_o be_v to_o consider_v of_o the_o regenerate_a will_n which_o go_v out_o of_o its_o selfishness_n or_o self-hood_n again_o into_o the_o resignation_n the_o same_o become_v also_o a_o enemy_n and_o a_o abominate_a to_o self-hood_n as_o sickness_n be_v a_o enemy_n to_o health_n and_o on_o the_o contrary_a health_n a_o enemy_n to_o sickness_n thus_o the_o resigned_n will_v and_o also_o the_o selfwill_a be_v a_o continual_a enmity_n and_o a_o uncessant_a last_a war_n and_o combat_n 11._o selfwill_a seek_v only_o what_o serve_v to_o its_o self-hood_n and_o the_o resign_v will_n be_v not_o at_o all_o careful_a but_o bring_v its_o desire_n only_o and_o alone_o into_o its_o eternal_a mother_n that_o it_o may_v be_v one_o with_o she_o it_o will_v be_v a_o nothing_o that_o the_o mother_n may_v be_v alone_o all_o in_o it_o selfwill_a say_v to_o the_o self-hood_n and_o give_v himself_o up_o with_o mind_n and_o desire_n sense_n and_o will_n into_o god_n mercy_n into_o the_o die_a of_o jesus_n christ_n he_o be_v dead_a to_o the_o earthly_a world_n with_o the_o will_n and_o be_v a_o twofold_a man_n where_o the_o abominate_a work_v only_o in_o itself_o to_o death_n but_o the_o resign_v will_n live_v in_o christ_n death_n and_o arise_v up_o continual_o in_o christ_n resurrection_n in_o god_n and_o albeit_o the_o self-desire_n sin_v which_o indeed_o can_v do_v nothing_o else_o but_o sin_n yet_o the_o resigned_n will_n live_v not_o in_o viz._n in_o the_o continual_a die_v in_o the_o continual_a enmity_n against_o god_n 13._o the_o earthly_a man_n be_v in_o the_o curse_n of_o god_n and_o be_v a_o abominate_a before_o god_n holiness_n he_o can_v do_v nothing_o else_o but_o seek_v his_o self-hood_n for_o he_o be_v in_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n and_o albeit_o he_o do_v something_o that_o be_v good_a yet_o he_o do_v it_o not_o from_o his_o own_o self-will_n but_o the_o will_v resign_v in_o god_n compel_v he_o that_o he_o must_v do_v what_o his_o self_n will_v not_o willing_o do_v and_o now_o if_o he_o do_v it_o he_o do_v it_o as_o a_o instrument_n of_o the_o resigned_n will_n not_o from_o his_o own_o desire_n but_o from_o god_n will_n which_o guide_v the_o resigned_n will_v in_o its_o desire_n as_o a_o instrument_n 14._o therefore_o now_o whosoever_o will_v see_v the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o attain_v thereunto_o he_o must_v educe_v or_o bring_v forth_o his_o soul_n out_o of_o self-hood_n out_o of_o the_o earthly_a desire_n as_o the_o physician_n bring_v forth_o the_o cure_n of_o the_o disease_n from_o the_o painful_a torment_a desire_v and_o introduce_v it_o into_o a_o love-desire_n and_o then_o the_o cure_n also_o bring_v forth_o the_o sickness_n in_o the_o body_n out_o of_o the_o painful_a desire_n and_o set_v it_o into_o a_o love-desire_n sickness_n become_v the_o physics_n servant_n and_o so_o likewise_o the_o evil_a earthly_a will_n when_o the_o soul_n will_v be_v cure_v be_v the_o resign_v will_n servant_n 15._o the_o elemental_a and_o sidereal_a man_n must_v only_o be_v the_o instrument_n wherewith_o man_n soul_n labour_v in_o the_o resigned_n will_n for_o thereto_o god_n have_v also_o create_v it_o but_o the_o soul_n have_v make_v and_o set_v up_o itself_o in_o adam_n for_o lord_n and_o master_n and_o be_v enter_v into_o his_o prison_n and_o give_v its_o will_n thereinto_o but_o if_o it_o will_v be_v acknowledge_v for_o god_n child_n than_o it_o must_v again_o die_v to_o the_o same_o and_o be_v whole_o mortify_v to_o the_o earthly_a self-hood_n and_o desire_n in_o god_n will_n in_o christ_n death_n and_o be_v whole_o regenerate_v a_o new_a in_o god_n will_n and_o deprive_v the_o earthly_a will_n in_o self-hood_n of_o its_o power_n and_o rule_v over_o it_o and_o guide_v it_o in_o subjection_n and_o command_n as_o a_o master_n his_o instrument_n and_o then_o self-hood_n lose_v the_o power_n and_o prevalency_n and_o the_o lust_n of_o self-hood_n arise_v as_o a_o continual_a longing_n self-hood_n do_v then_o continual_o long_a after_o the_o form_n of_o its_o own_o life_n viz._n after_o self-glory_n and_o after_o earthly_a abundance_n also_o after_o envy_n and_o anger_n whether_o it_o may_v be_v able_a to_o attain_v that_o abundance_n and_o also_o after_o the_o cunning_a lie_n of_o falsehood_n these_o be_v the_o vital_a form_n of_o the_o earthly_a self-hood_n 16._o but_o the_o resigned_n will_n do_v as_o a_o potent_a champion_n continual_o bruise_v the_o head_n of_o this_o serpent_n and_o say_v thou_o be_v arisen_a from_o the_o devil_n and_o god_n anger_n i_o will_v none_o of_o thou_o thou_o be_v a_o abominate_a before_o god_n and_o although_o the_o resign_v will_n be_v sometime_o captivate_v with_o false_a lust_n when_o it_o do_v overwhelm_v and_o overpower_v it_o with_o the_o devil_n desire_v and_o insinuation_n of_o its_o imagination_n yet_o the_o resigned_n will_n do_v forthwith_o cry_v unto_o the_o breath_n word_n of_o god_n that_o god_n will_v do_v again_o bring_v it_o out_o of_o the_o abominate_a of_o death_n 17._o the_o resign_v will_n have_v no_o rest_n here_o in_o this_o cottage_n but_o must_v always_o be_v in_o combat_n for_o it_o
into_o the_o high_a deep_a humility_n before_o he_o it_o suffer_v and_o do_v all_o thing_n ready_o only_o that_o it_o may_v but_o receive_v grace_n it_o be_v willing_a to_o take_v the_o cross_n of_o christ_n upon_o itself_o and_o regard_v not_o at_o all_o the_o scorn_n of_o all_o the_o world_n in_o its_o self-hood_n but_o continual_o press_v forward_o into_o christ_n love-desire_n this_o desire_n earthly_a man_n know_v nothing_o for_o it_o find_v itself_o in_o its_o self-hood_n 29._o a_o true_a christian_a be_v a_o continual_a champion_n and_o walk_v whole_o in_o the_o will_n and_o desire_n in_o christ_n person_n as_o he_o have_v walk_v up_o and_o down_o upon_o the_o earth_n christ_n when_o he_o be_v upon_o the_o earth_n desire_v to_o overcome_v death_n and_o bring_v the_o humane_a self-hood_n in_o true_a resignation_n into_o divine_a obedience_n and_o this_o likewise_o a_o right_a christian_n desire_v to_o do_v he_o desire_v continual_o to_o die_v to_o the_o iniquity_n of_o death_n and_o wrath_n and_o give_v himself_o up_o to_o obedience_n and_o to_o arise_v and_o live_v in_o christ_n obedience_n in_o god_n 30._o therefore_o dear_a brethren_n take_v heed_n of_o put_v on_o christ_n purple_a mantle_n without_o a_o resigned_n will_n the_o poor_a sinner_n without_o sorrow_n for_o his_o sin_n and_o conversion_n of_o his_o will_n do_v only_o take_v it_o in_o scorn_n know_v and_o deep_o lay_v to_o heart_n what_o be_v now_o tell_v and_o speak_v to_o she_o viz._n that_o she_o depart_v from_o the_o false_a conjecture_n or_o opinion_n of_o comfort_v without_o it_o acknowledge_v itself_o always_o as_o unworthy_a and_o simple_a its_o true_a christianity_n be_v always_o hide_a to_o it_o in_o its_o self-hood_n he_o say_v i_o be_o in_o myself-hood_n a_o lord_n hide_v his_o face_n from_o he_o that_o his_o work_n may_v be_v great_a towards_o he_o he_o sow_v in_o anguish_n and_o tear_n and_o know_v not_o his_o fruit_n for_o it_o be_v hide_v in_o god_n as_o a_o painful_a traveller_n go_v a_o long_a way_n aim_v at_o his_o wish_a for_o journey_n end_n so_o also_o he_o run_v after_o the_o far_a mark_n of_o his_o rest_n and_o find_v it_o not_o unless_o his_o pearl_n do_v appear_v unto_o he_o in_o its_o beauty_n and_o embrace_v he_o in_o its_o love_n if_o it_o again_o depart_v from_o his_o self-hood_n then_o arise_v sigh_v and_o sorrow_v again_o with_o continual_a desire_n and_o one_o day_n call_v another_o the_o day_n the_o night_n and_o the_o night_n the_o morning_n and_o yet_o there_o be_v no_o place_n of_o rest_n in_o the_o earthly_a self-hood_n save_v only_o in_o the_o fair_a solar_a lustre_n of_o his_o precious_a pearl_n when_o the_o sun_n arise_v to_o he_o in_o the_o darkness_n than_o the_o night_n depart_v and_o all_o sorrow_n and_o anguish_n fly_v away_o 33._o therefore_o dear_a brethren_n learn_v to_o take_v heed_n and_o beware_v of_o contention_n where_o man_n contend_v about_o the_o literal_a form_n a_o true_a christian_a have_v nothing_o to_o contend_v for_o for_o he_o die_v to_o his_o reason_n desire_n he_o desire_v only_a god_n knowledge_n in_o his_o love_n and_o grace_n and_o let_v all_o go_v which_o contend_v and_o strive_v about_o the_o form_n for_o christ_n spirit_n must_v make_v the_o form_n in_o himself_o the_o outward_a form_n be_v only_o a_o guide_n god_n must_v become_v man_n or_o else_o
