and_o take_v knowledge_n that_o god_n be_v angry_a with_o they_o this_o make_v they_o hang_v down_o their_o head_n and_o abate_v their_o courage_n even_o as_o a_o ingenious_a scholar_n beat_v for_o a_o fault_n before_o all_o his_o fellow_n be_v much_o abash_v therewith_o so_o it_o fare_v with_o god_n child_n who_o yet_o be_v so_o humble_v and_o abase_v in_o their_o own_o eye_n by_o their_o blow_n and_o stroke_n as_o they_o learn_v great_a patience_n and_o thankfulness_n as_o well_o as_o humility_n because_o they_o receive_v all_o their_o chastisement_n as_o correction_n of_o a_o most_o love_a father_n who_o seek_v in_o they_o their_o best_a good_a but_o it_o shall_v be_v sufficient_a to_o have_v entreat_v thus_o far_o of_o chastisement_n let_v we_o pass_v on_o to_o the_o trial_n of_o god_n child_n touch_v which_o we_o be_v to_o know_v thus_o much_o that_o in_o tiyal_n the_o correction_n which_o god_n send_v his_o child_n he_o do_v not_o only_o look_v at_o this_o only_o to_o admonish_v they_o of_o their_o sin_n past_a that_o they_o may_v turn_v and_o be_v more_o obedient_a for_o time_n to_o come_v and_o to_o abase_v the_o pride_n of_o their_o heart_n that_o they_o may_v carry_v themselves_o in_o all_o humbleness_n but_o withal_o he_o do_v take_v trial_n of_o the_o faith_n patience_n and_o love_n of_o his_o child_n and_o sometime_o it_o please_v he_o to_o inflict_v some_o grievous_a judgement_n upon_o they_o without_o any_o such_o respect_n at_o all_o as_o to_o correct_v their_o sin_n but_o mere_o for_o probation_n sake_n thus_o he_o deal_v with_o job_n whole_a affliction_n be_v not_o chastisement_n of_o his_o sin_n but_o trial_n of_o his_o faith_n and_o patience_n of_o this_o kind_n be_v such_o adversity_n and_o trouble_n as_o happen_v to_o abraham_n isaac_n and_o jacob_n who_o pilgrimage_n prove_v very_o cumbersome_a and_o full_a of_o cross_n also_o the_o cross_n which_o 〈◊〉_d god_n child_n for_o righteousness_n sake_n these_o be_v such_o 〈◊〉_d as_o when_o they_o fall_v into_o they_o they_o be_v will_v to_o 〈◊〉_d exceed_a joy_n because_o they_o serve_v for_o trial_n of_o their_o faith_n and_o therefore_o be_v call_v temptation_n 〈◊〉_d 1._o 2._o it_o be_v the_o pleasure_n of_o god_n as_o man_n try_v gold_n in_o a_o furnace_n so_o to_o try_v his_o child_n by_o affliction_n it_o stand_v with_o very_o good_a reason_n that_o god_n shall_v at_o his_o pleasure_n make_v trial_n of_o man_n to_o see_v what_o be_v in_o they_o see_v man_n do_v at_o their_o pleasure_n make_v trial_n of_o such_o thing_n and_o person_n as_o be_v in_o their_o power_n their_o horse_n their_o dog_n their_o servant_n their_o child_n and_o albeit_o time_n of_o prosperity_n be_v time_n of_o trial_n for_o therein_o both_o evil_a man_n make_v proof_n of_o their_o pride_n security_n and_o presumption_n and_o also_o the_o godly_a declare_v their_o modesty_n watchfulness_n and_o piety_n yet_o time_n of_o affliction_n be_v mere_a time_n of_o trial_n because_o as_o on_o the_o one_o side_n many_o vice_n be_v cover_v in_o the_o day_n of_o prosperity_n and_o peace_n which_o be_v lay_v open_a in_o the_o evil_a day_n as_o self-love_n love_n of_o this_o world_n impatiency_n vain_a confidence_n fear_n distrust_n and_o sundry_a other_o which_o affliction_n bring_v to_o light_v so_o on_o the_o other_o side_n there_o be_v sundry_a virtue_n of_o good_a man_n as_o their_o faith_n love_n obedience_n to_o god_n patience_n fear_v of_o god_n hope_v etc._n etc._n which_o be_v more_o better_o see_v and_o more_o manifest_v by_o affliction_n than_o out_o of_o affliction_n it_o be_v a_o easy_a thing_n when_o man_n have_v rest_n and_o riches_n to_o make_v profession_n and_o semblance_n of_o faith_n and_o piety_n now_o that_o it_o may_v be_v manifest_v who_o do_v it_o in_o truth_n who_o otherwise_o therefore_o god_n use_v to_o send_v affliction_n as_o touchstone_n to_o try_v the_o currant_n from_o the_o counterfeit_n and_o as_o fire_n to_o sever_v the_o dross_n from_o the_o pure_a silver_n there_o be_v much_o money_n look_v as_o fair_a as_o any_o currant_n money_n which_o yet_o be_v find_v to_o be_v vicious_a when_o it_o be_v bring_v to_o the_o touch_n to_o be_v try_v likewise_o very_a many_o there_o be_v who_o in_o the_o day_n of_o peace_n have_v face_n and_o appearance_n of_o good_a and_o faithful_a man_n who_o be_v make_v know_v in_o the_o hour_n of_o tribulation_n to_o be_v far_o otherwise_o then_o they_o seem_v to_o be_v the_o cross_n pluck_v the_o vizard_n of_o hypocrisy_n from_o their_o face_n and_o have_v unmask_v they_o make_v they_o to_o show_v what_o they_o be_v god_n himself_o need_v not_o to_o help_v his_o knowledge_n by_o these_o trial_n for_o he_o perfect_o know_v what_o be_v in_o we_o search_v our_o very_a heart_n and_o reins_n and_o indeed_o how_o shall_v he_o that_o make_v we_o be_v ignorant_a of_o we_o therefore_o these_o trial_n serve_v to_o lay_v we_o open_a not_o to_o his_o all-seeing_a eye_n but_o to_o ourselves_o we_o be_v often_o very_o ignorant_a what_o be_v in_o we_o some_o suppose_v they_o have_v great_a faith_n love_n and_o obedience_n when_o it_o be_v but_o little_a as_o peter_n other_o fear_v their_o portion_n of_o faith_n to_o be_v little_a when_o it_o be_v great_a as_o joseph_n of_o arimathea_n some_o boast_n of_o much_o faith_n which_o have_v never_o a_o deal_n as_o the_o laodicean_n revel_v
