peter_n have_v no_o such_o meaning_n for_o goodly_a thing_n be_v hard_a to_o be_v attain_v unto_o and_o faith_n be_v the_o most_o precious_a and_o excellent_a of_o all_o other_o &_o most_o hard_a to_o be_v come_v by_o it_o be_v not_o in_o man_n will_n or_o power_n to_o believe_v and_o to_o believe_v steadfast_o at_o his_o pleasure_n but_o saint_n peter_n meaning_n be_v to_o move_v all_o man_n to_o seek_v it_o where_o it_o be_v to_o be_v find_v and_o by_o such_o mean_n as_o be_v ordain_v for_o to_o come_v unto_o it_o by_o for_o there_o be_v no_o man_n almost_o but_o will_v acknowledge_v that_o a_o strong_a faith_n be_v a_o most_o rich_a jewel_n but_o when_o it_o come_v to_o the_o matter_n they_o deprive_v themselves_o for_o the_o most_o part_n either_o deem_v that_o they_o have_v it_o or_o can_v have_v it_o in_o their_o own_o power_n rest_v in_o a_o vain_a shadow_n not_o know_v at_o all_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o true_a lively_a and_o powerful_a faith_n or_o if_o they_o do_v acknowledge_v it_o to_o be_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n yet_o they_o never_o seek_v it_o by_o those_o mean_n which_o he_o have_v ordain_v to_o work_v it_o in_o man_n and_o to_o nourish_v it_o up_o in_o they_o when_o we_o be_v therefore_o will_v to_o resist_v the_o devil_n steadfast_a in_o the_o faith_n it_o be_v as_o much_o as_o to_o say_v give_v all_o diligence_n and_o use_v all_o the_o way_n and_o mean_n that_o may_v be_v to_o increase_v and_o strengthen_v your_o faith_n that_o you_o may_v overcome_v the_o devil_n if_o you_o be_v diligent_a that_o way_n happy_a be_v you_o and_o if_o you_o take_v not_o that_o course_n then_o be_v you_o utter_o undo_v for_o what_o way_n can_v you_o then_o escape_v the_o power_n and_o tyranny_n of_o the_o roar_a lion_n but_o it_o will_v be_v say_v s._n in_o a_o certain_a dead_a image_n of_o faith_n and_o be_v utterlie_o seduce_v for_o that_o faith_n have_v no_o power_n he_o that_o know_v this_o indeed_o behold_v the_o depth_n of_o the_o calamity_n which_o he_o be_v in_o will_v look_v up_o to_o god_n who_o be_v the_o giver_n of_o faith_n he_o be_v desirous_a to_o know_v what_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n be_v which_o he_o be_v to_o believe_v and_o what_o the_o way_n be_v in_o which_o he_o must_v walk_v to_o perform_v the_o duty_n of_o a_o christian_a life_n for_o the_o true_a faith_n work_v by_o charity_n as_o paul_n say_v and_o can_v be_v without_o good_a work_n he_o search_v the_o scripture_n as_o christ_n will_v joh._n 5._o he_o do_v with_o all_o diligence_n bend_v his_o ear_n to_o hear_v the_o holy_a gospel_n of_o jesus_n christ_n preach_v feel_v therein_o the_o power_n of_o god_n to_o work_v faith_n he_o do_v cry_v and_o call_v unto_o god_n day_n &_o night_n for_o to_o teach_v he_o to_o lighten_v he_o to_o give_v he_o understanding_n &_o to_o increase_v his_o faith_n he_o find_v the_o blessing_n of_o god_n in_o these_o mean_n &_o therefore_o apply_v they_o but_o now_o on_o the_o contrary_a part_n he_o that_o rest_v in_o this_o god_n give_v faith_n and_o if_o it_o be_v his_o will_n i_o shall_v have_v it_o and_o so_o despise_v all_o mean_n not_o consider_v how_o god_n give_v faith_n be_v utterlie_o awry_o and_o out_o of_o the_o right_a way_n from_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o there_o be_v so_o many_o commendation_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o of_o the_o livelie_a power_n that_o it_o have_v to_o save_v our_o soul_n from_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o we_o be_v often_o call_v upon_o to_o give_v ear_n to_o the_o voice_n of_o god_n to_o hearken_v to_o his_o counsel_n thus_o shall_v we_o obtain_v the_o holy_a faith_n and_o he_o that_o have_v faith_n and_o feel_v the_o power_n of_o god_n in_o he_o if_o he_o will_v have_v it_o increase_v be_v to_o consider_v the_o abundant_a kindness_n of_o god_n who_o have_v bestow_v so_o great_a a_o gift_n upon_o he_o he_o be_v from_o the_o bottom_n of_o his_o heart_n to_o give_v all_o praise_n and_o thanks_n and_o honour_n unto_o he_o for_o so_o great_a
