from_o this_o man_n method_n the_o danger_n of_o enthusiasm_n be_v not_o in_o the_o enthusiast_n themselves_o but_o in_o their_o ordinary_a sort_n of_o hearer_n or_o weak_a christians_n as_o they_o be_v count_v who_o he_o go_v about_o to_o keep_v always_o in_o that_o weak_a state_n ever_o learning_n and_o never_o allow_v they_o the_o privilege_n of_o their_o teacher_n that_o be_v to_o be_v teacher_n immediate_o illuminate_v and_o teach_v and_o what_o be_v this_o but_o to_o maintain_v a_o trade_n of_o preach_v that_o people_n may_v be_v always_o pay_v which_o be_v not_o to_o desire_v in_o not_o direct_v we_o to_o those_o apostle_n evangelist_n prophet_n pastor_n and_o teacher_n true_o qualify_v and_o call_v as_o where_o or_o among_o what_o people_n they_o be_v as_o if_o he_o shall_v tell_v we_o that_o the_o way_n to_o heaven_n be_v to_o follow_v certain_a guide_n but_o not_o at_o all_o direct_v we_o where_o to_o find_v those_o guide_n but_o although_o we_o confess_v that_o god_n do_v with_o power_n endue_v and_o send_v forth_o his_o messenger_n to_o preach_v the_o gospel_n yet_o this_o no_o way_n do_v oppose_v his_o immediate_a illumination_n &_o teach_v of_o his_o people_n under_o the_o new_a covenant_n but_o be_v a_o lively_a proof_n and_o testimony_n thereof_o see_v they_o be_v immediate_o illuminate_v and_o inspire_v for_o that_o work_n and_o their_o ministry_n receive_v from_o the_o immediate_a light_n and_o teach_v of_o god_n within_o tend_v to_o direct_v man_n to_o he_o that_o they_o may_v be_v teach_v of_o he_o and_o therein_o be_v helpful_a to_o man_n in_o order_n to_o turn_v they_o from_o darkness_n to_o the_o light_n which_o no_o way_n do_v imply_v any_o defect_n in_o the_o light_n within_o but_o a_o alienation_n in_o man_n mind_n till_o he_o be_v convert_v for_o there_o can_v be_v no_o defect_n or_o insufficiency_n n_o god_n because_o he_o make_v use_v of_o apt_a instrument_n suit_v to_o man_n weakness_n and_o cause_v his_o own_o work_v to_o praise_v he_o for_o he_o will_v not_o have_v his_o work_v idle_a and_o useless_a now_o the_o difference_n between_o god_n immediate_a illumination_n or_o inward_a work_n of_o power_n and_o his_o work_n instrumental_o by_o minister_n or_o preach_a lie_v here_o the_o one_o be_v the_o cause_n and_o
that_o he_o may_v know_v that_o there_o be_v a_o god_n that_o he_o be_v to_o be_v worship_v and_o that_o he_o be_v placable_a and_o two_o grant_v this_o a_o light_a sufficient_a to_o direct_v the_o heathen_a to_o as_o much_o as_o god_n expect_v from_o they_o and_o be_v not_o this_o then_o in_o order_n to_o salvation_n if_o they_o obey_v what_o god_n expect_v from_o they_o shall_v they_o not_o be_v save_v see_v the_o man_n contradiction_n have_v before_o deny_v that_o christ_n light_v every_o man_n in_o order_n to_o his_o salvation_n without_o outward_a teach_v when_o here_o it_o be_v grant_v he_o enlighten_v every_o man_n even_o the_o heathen_a with_o a_o light_n sufficient_a to_o direct_v they_o to_o as_o much_o as_o god_n expect_v from_o they_o but_o three_o in_o call_v this_o a_o natural_a create_a light_n he_o egregious_o err_v for_o how_o shall_v the_o heathen_a or_o any_o man_n else_o know_v that_o there_o be_v a_o god_n that_o he_o be_v to_o be_v worship_v and_o that_o he_o be_v placable_a or_o be_v direct_v to_o as_o much_o as_o god_n expect_v from_o they_o by_o that_o which_o be_v natural_a and_o create_v when_o the_o thing_n of_o god_n be_v beyond_o the_o natural_a man_n reach_n and_o understanding_n and_o only_o to_o be_v discern_v spiritual_o four_o whereas_o this_o man_n suppose_v two_o such_o different_a light_n from_o christ_n in_o man_n viz._n the_o one_o which_o he_o call_v the_o faculty_n of_o reason_n and_o understanding_n in_o the_o heathen_a sufficient_a to_o direct_v they_o in_o the_o knowledge_n and_o worship_n of_o god_n and_o to_o as_o much_o as_o he_o expect_v from_o they_o and_o the_o other_o in_o they_o that_o live_v under_o the_o outward_a preach_v of_o the_o gospel_n the_o first_o save_v only_o to_o the_o heathen_a the_o second_o only_o to_o the_o profess_a christian_n the_o first_o sufficient_a to_o give_v the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o his_o worship_n the_o second_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n and_o salvation_n by_o he_o i_o must_v deny_v his_o distinction_n of_o two_o such_o light_n in_o man_n as_o unscriptural_a a_o unsound_a and_o i_o must_v tell_v he_o he_o have_v bring_v we_o no_o scripture-proof_n to_o convince_v we_o thereof_o that_o there_o be_v two_o such_o different_a light_n in_o man_n thus_o limit_v or_o distinguish_v the_o one_o as_o from_o god_n to_o heathen_n the_o other_o as_o from_o christ_n to_o christian_n and_o yet_o both_o direct_v to_o the_o same_o end_n to_o wit_n salvation_n this_o kind_n of_o mangle_a confuse_a work_n be_v fit_a to_o darken_v people_n mind_n from_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o christ_n and_o salvation_n whereas_o that_o first_o chapter_n of_o john_n be_v plain_a without_o any_o such_o confuse_a distinction_n about_o the_o light_n or_o division_n between_o god_n and_o christ_n as_o this_o man_n make_v about_o the_o light_n for_o there_o it_o be_v in_o he_o be_v life_n and_o the_o life_n be_v the_o light_n of_o man_n ver_fw-la 4._o and_o that_o be_v the_o true_a light_n that_o light_v every_o man_n that_o come_v into_o the_o world_n ver_fw-la 9_o mark_v here_o this_o life_n or_o light_n of_o christ_n be_v but_o one_o and_o the_o same_o forever_o the_o light_n of_o man_n throughout_o all_o generation_n yea_o he_o be_v that_o true_a light_n that_o light_v every_o man_n that_o come_v into_o the_o world_n who_o the_o heathen_a to_o as_o much_o as_o god_n expect_v from_o they_o that_o be_v to_o moral_a goodness_n to_o know_v and_o worship_n god_n and_o consequent_o to_o lead_v they_o to_o salvation_n for_o in_o every_o nation_n he_o that_o fear_v god_n and_o work_v righteousness_n be_v accept_v now_o how_o they_o shall_v know_v and_o worship_n god_n and_o be_v save_v without_o some_o live_a knowledge_n and_o belief_n of_o his_o son_n jesus_n christ_n i_o can_v see_v nor_o understand_v since_o that_o by_o no_o other_o name_n under_o heaven_n can_v man_n be_v save_v and_o he_o that_o believe_v not_o &_o no_o christian_n i_o must_v confess_v we_o be_v yet_o to_o seek_v and_o not_o like_a to_o have_v any_o scripture-proof_n thereof_o from_o our_o opposer_n or_o any_o else_o of_o his_o persuasion_n be_v that_o of_o the_o heart_n in_o the_o spirit_n and_o not_o in_o the_o letter_n and_o as_o for_o this_o man_n knowledge_n of_o christ_n that_o he_o have_v by_o oral_a tradition_n and_o that_o he_o reckon_v be_v derive_v down_o successive_o by_o outward_a teach_v without_o immediate_a revelation_n or_o illumination_n p._n 47_o 84._o it_o be_v no_o live_v or_o save_v knowledge_n &_o such_o method_n as_o this_o man_n propose_v for_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n as_o in_o opposition_n to_o his_o immediate_a enlighten_v be_v not_o god_n mean_n he_o talk_v something_o like_o a_o papist_n estrange_v from_o the_o divine_a light_n within_o sect._n v._n his_o silly_a temporize_v in_o espouse_v the_o hireling_n priest_n quarrel_v against_o we_o as_o to_o his_o wish_v that_o we_o do_v not_o
