by_o the_o scripture_n which_o be_v the_o sword_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o the_o word_n of_o god_n answ_n 1._o in_o obedience_n to_o the_o command_n of_o christ_n john_n 5.39_o i_o have_v peruse_v and_o diligent_o search_v the_o scripture_n both_o in_o the_o original_n and_o several_a translation_n it_o may_v be_v as_o much_o as_o any_o man_n and_o find_v that_o they_o sufficient_o declare_v and_o testify_v of_o and_o for_o our_o bless_a saviour_n jesus_n christ_n to_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n but_o through_o the_o whole_a volumn_n of_o this_o holy_a book_n call_v the_o bible_n and_o scripture_n of_o truth_n i_o find_v not_o therein_o that_o they_o be_v call_v by_o this_o name_n 2._o and_o therefore_o that_o the_o scripture_n be_v the_o sword_n of_o the_o spirit_n or_o the_o word_n of_o god_n i_o have_v no_o scripture_n warrant_v to_o believe_v but_o that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v the_o sword_n of_o the_o spirit_n i_o own_o and_o witness_v experimental_o and_o that_o it_o be_v sharp_a than_o a_o two_o edge_a sword_n like_o a_o hammer_n and_o fire_n the_o axe_n at_o the_o root_n of_o the_o tree_n and_o that_o it_o be_v unchangeable_a incorruptible_a and_o eternal_a without_o beginning_n of_o day_n or_o end_n of_o time_n and_o so_o be_v not_o the_o scripture_n 2._o nevertheless_o we_o prefer_v the_o holy_a scripture_n above_o all_o book_n as_o they_o be_v give_v forth_o by_o the_o holy_a spirit_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o of_o divine_a authority_n and_o believe_v they_o to_o be_v a_o true_a declaration_n of_o god_n and_o of_o his_o word_n yet_o we_o must_v not_o fix_v our_o hope_n of_o eternal_a life_n in_o the_o scripture_n as_o the_o jew_n do_v and_o will_v not_o believe_v in_o chirst_n nor_o come_v to_o he_o that_o they_o may_v have_v life_n john_n 5.38.39.40_o it_o be_v not_o they_o therefore_o who_o have_v the_o scripture_n but_o only_o they_o who_o have_v the_o son_n of_o god_n that_o have_v life_n 1_o john_n 5.12_o 4._o wherefore_o we_o eph._n 2.12_o and_o the_o same_o apostle_n bid_v other_o to_o examine_v and_o prove_v themselves_o and_o to_o know_v that_o jesus_n christ_n be_v in_o you_o except_o you_o be_v reprobate_n 2_o cor._n 13.5_o whereby_o it_o appear_v that_o unbeliever_n and_o reprobate_n be_v without_o christ_n answ_n 1._o as_o to_o unbeliever_n before_o conversion_n they_o be_v alienate_v from_o the_o life_n and_o
