be_v complete_o healthy_a strong_a and_o immortal_a in_o innocency_n and_o many_o other_o civil_a domestic_a affair_n take_v up_o and_o must_v have_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o our_o time_n which_o so_o also_o wherefore_o i_o conclude_v that_o the_o seven_o part_n of_o the_o week_n or_o one_o day_n of_o the_o seven_o be_v not_o primary_o moral_a because_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n can_v not_o have_v precise_o dictate_v it_o to_o we_o which_o methinks_v i_o can_v demonstrate_v by_o this_o supposition_n suppose_v a_o person_n that_o be_v against_o the_o morality_n of_o the_o sabbath_n that_o judge_v no_o day_n of_o the_o week_n more_o holy_a than_o another_o shall_v by_o providence_n be_v throw_v among_o mahonietans_n or_o heathen_n and_o preach_v the_o gospel_n to_o they_o shall_v be_v instrumental_a to_o convert_v any_o of_o they_o to_o the_o christian_a faith_n i_o assert_v that_o in_o such_o a_o case_n and_o he_o will_v certain_o be_v horrible_o uncharitable_a that_o shall_v of_o it_o without_o god_n we_o may_v well_o say_v that_o the_o preservation_n of_o the_o world_n be_v a_o great_a work_n than_o the_o creation_n of_o it_o though_o as_o to_o the_o act_n itself_o in_o god_n all_o be_v the_o same_o be_v the_o act_n of_o the_o same_o infinite_a power_n wisdom_n and_o godhead_n because_o of_o the_o contrary_a quality_n of_o the_o creature_n mutual_o tend_v to_o each_o other_o destruction_n but_o especial_o because_o of_o the_o malice_n of_o devil_n and_o the_o sinful_a wretched_a depravity_n of_o fallen_n man_n which_o without_o a_o infinite_a wisdom_n and_o the_o question_n whether_o the_o seventh-day-sabbath_n be_v sanctify_v and_o so_o institute_v by_o he_o and_o be_v observe_v by_o he_o who_o make_v the_o world_n we_o answer_v it_o be_v sanctify_v and_o institute_v by_o the_o lord_n as_o jehovah_n but_o not_o as_o jesus_n christ_n and_o then_o that_o it_o be_v observe_v by_o jesus_n christ_n incarnate_v but_o not_o as_o jehovah_n because_o the_o observation_n of_o it_o seem_v to_o import_v some_o dutiful_a obligation_n upon_o its_o observer_n which_o can_v be_v suppose_v with_o respect_n to_o the_o godhead_n but_o may_v be_v so_o with_o observance_n of_o pentecost_n the_o passover_n the_o feast_n of_o tabernacle_n and_o other_o ceremonial_a and_o judicial_a law_n under_o which_o our_o lord_n christ_n be_v and_o which_o he_o observe_v in_o the_o day_n of_o his_o flesh_n the_o moysaicall_a and_o the_o ceremonial_a administration_n be_v in_o force_n all_o the_o while_o he_o live_v and_o expire_v with_o his_o death_n and_o be_v bury_v in_o his_o grave_n as_o to_o their_o virtue_n and_o obligation_n and_o so_o we_o assert_v the_o seventh-day-sabbath_n do_v also_o which_o i_o hope_v we_o may_v evince_v in_o the_o progress_n of_o depend_v upon_o these_o for_o the_o carry_v off_o his_o design_n but_o withal_o we_o have_v former_o see_v how_o little_a yea_o how_o not_o at_o all_o they_o conduce_v thereto_o but_o to_o these_o he_o superadd_v another_o grand_a postulatum_fw-la as_o though_o it_o be_v a_o particular_a which_o either_o he_o have_v undeniable_o demonstrate_v before_o or_o be_v grant_v by_o his_o adversary_n which_o be_v that_o the_o lord_n institute_v this_o seventh-day-sabbath_n for_o and_o impose_v it_o upon_o adam_n and_o in_o
the_o four_o command_n but_o only_o to_o alter_v a_o circumstance_n and_o motive_n therein_o the_o whole_a substance_n thereof_o continue_v in_o its_o full_a vigour_n and_o authority_n once_o he_o week_n to_o be_v it_o he_o may_v with_o much_o more_o conveniency_n have_v meet_v and_o preach_v and_o administer_v the_o lord_n supper_n to_o the_o disciple_n on_o the_o seven_o day_n if_o that_o have_v be_v now_o the_o consecrate_a day_n of_o the_o week_n and_o so_o have_v have_v more_o time_n and_o leisure_n with_o they_o for_o his_o work_n and_o not_o have_v so_o straighten_a himself_o or_o incommode_v they_o throughout_o a_o whole_a night_n but_o becaust_n the_o lord_n day_n be_v the_o sacred_a day_n of_o the_o week_n to_o be_v observe_v and_o keep_v therefore_o he_o will_v defer_v it_o till_o then_o though_o to_o his_o own_o and_o their_o great_a inconvenience_n here_o we_o have_v a_o conjecture_n somewhat_o strange_a viz._n that_o the_o apostle_n keep_v the_o seven_o day_n at_o troas_n what_o be_v it_o alone_o by_o himself_o and_o without_o any_o other_o with_o he_o as_o a_o private_a person_n and_o not_o as_o a_o apostle_n and_o then_o will_v keep_v the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n as_o a_o apostle_n and_o with_o the_o assembly_n of_o believer_n doubtless_o st._n paul_n be_v no_o such_o dissembler_n on_o one_o hand_n nor_o superstitious_a bigot_n on_o the_o other_o to_o observe_v two_o sabbath_n in_o the_o week_n one_o by_o himself_o and_o another_o with_o the_o church_n when_o god_n command_v but_o one_o only_a but_o he_o seem_v to_o do_v all_o he_o can_v to_o turn_v the_o first_o day_n into_o the_o seven_o and_o to_o persuade_v we_o that_o the_o assembly_n of_o the_o disciple_n be_v begin_v on_o the_o last_o day_n of_o the_o week_n and_o continue_v some_o time_n of_o the_o first_o whereas_o the_o text_n express_o tell_v we_o they_o come_v together_o on_o the_o first_o day_n and_o so_o continue_v together_o the_o first_o day_n till_o its_o conclusion_n in_o the_o second_o day_n morning_n here_o he_o take_v no_o notice_n at_o all_o or_o to_o no_o purpose_n that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n tell_v we_o express_o that_o paul_n abide_v seven_o day_n at_o troas_n of_o which_o one_o must_v necessary_o be_v the_o last_o day_n the_o seven_o day_n in_o order_n of_o the_o week_n and_o yet_o never_o tell_v we_o that_o the_o disciple_n meet_v on_o that_o day_n or_o paul_n with_o they_o but_o only_o on_o the_o first_o day_n and_o why_o shall_v this_o be_v if_o for_o any_o reason_n but_o to_o show_v we_o that_o the_o lord_n day_n be_v the_o day_n of_o their_o religious_a convention_n and_o the_o seven_o day_n antiquate_v and_o no_o more_o to_o be_v mention_v and_o observe_v among_o christian_n as_o such_o a_o day_n what_o follow_v have_v be_v if_o i_o mistake_v not_o satisfactory_o answer_v already_o it_o be_v well_o he_o recede_v from_o and_o stand_v not_o much_o upon_o the_o greek_a word_n 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d to_o be_v interpete_v one_o for_o he_o know_v that_o in_o both_o the_o sacred_a language_n the_o numerical_a word_n be_v frequent_o use_v for_o the_o ordinal_n and_o if_o we_o shall_v render_v this_o word_n here_o one_o it_o will_v make_v the_o language_n of_o the_o scripture_n very_o impertinent_a and_o uncertain_a it_o will_v be_v impertinent_a and_o superfluous_a because_o if_o it_o be_v upon_o any_o day_n it_o must_v be_v upon_o one_o day_n of_o the_o week_n for_o there_o be_v no_o day_n that_o be_v not_o one_o of_o the_o week_n and_o what_o need_v the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o tell_v we_o that_o be_v which_o we_o be_v sure_o can_v not_o but_o be_v and_o it_o will_v be_v uncertain_a and_o dubious_a for_o according_a to_o this_o meaning_n we_o can_v never_o know_v what_o day_n of_o the_o week_n this_o religious_a congregation_n meet_v whether_o on_o the_o first_o or_o second_o or_o three_o or_o four_o etc._n etc._n and_o the_o expression_n seem_v to_o hint_n that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n will_v acquaint_v we_o with_o the_o particular_a day_n thereof_o but_o such_o a_o uncertain_a translation_n will_v great_o befriend_v this_o author_n for_o than_o he_o may_v more_o confident_o suppose_v it_o to_o be_v the_o seven_o day_n see_v that_o now_o when_o the_o spirit_n clear_o assert_v it_o be_v upon_o the_o first_o day_n he_o do_v persuade_v himself_o and_o will_v persuade_v we_o that_o it_o be_v upon_o the_o seven_o what_o follow_v after_o be_v conjecture_n and_o consequence_n draw_v from_o his_o former_a weak_a premise_n i_o shall_v say_v nothing_o more_o to_o they_o sect_n fourteen_o god_n have_v succeed_v they_o the_o next_o day_n even_o the_o lordsday_n to_o separate_v that_o charitable_a portion_n from_o the_o rest_n and_o carry_v it_o unto_o the_o public_a assembly_n and_o so_o cast_v it_o into_o the_o poor_n box._n and_o i_o think_v it_o be_v clear_a that_o the_o text_n necessary_o imply_v a_o former_a inquisition_n into_o their_o stock_n before_o this_o seposition_n but_o where_o it_o imply_v it_o must_v be_v do_v on_o that_o day_n no_o man_n can_v see_v wherefore_o we_o say_v that_o a_o former_a examination_n be_v have_v of_o these_o matter_n this_o day_n that_o consecrate_a part_n be_v take_v carry_v to_o the_o congregation_n and_o put_v into_o the_o common_a stock_n that_o so_o the_o apostle_n when_o he_o come_v among_o they_o may_v not_o be_v force_v to_o go_v from_o house_n to_o house_n to_o

command_v the_o church_n of_o corinth_n to_o make_v the_o same_o collection_n on_o that_o day_n in_o imitation_n of_o they_o or_o as_o they_o do_v be_v with_o the_o former_a a_o very_a good_a
