therefore_o be_v justify_v by_o faith_n we_o have_v peace_n with_o god_n through_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n from_o these_o word_n i_o have_v pitch_v upon_o that_o great_a point_n and_o doctrine_n of_o justify_v faith_n or_o of_o that_o faith_n by_o which_o we_o be_v justify_v and_o this_o faith_n it_o eye_n christ_n in_o a_o peculiar_a manner_n as_o i_o prove_v from_o john_n 17._o 7_o 8._o far_o they_o have_v know_v concern_v i_o that_o all_o thing_n whatsoever_o thou_o have_v give_v i_o be_v of_o thou_o for_o i_o have_v give_v unto_o they_o the_o word_n which_o thou_o give_v i_o and_o they_o have_v receive_v they_o as_o so_o give_v unto_o i_o and_o have_v know_v sure_o that_o i_o come_v out_o from_o thou_o and_o they_o have_v believe_v that_o thou_o do_v send_v i_o so_o here_o be_v a_o constant_a eye_n of_o faith_n upon_o christ_n as_o i_o tell_v you_o there_o have_v never_o be_v such_o a_o notion_n of_o faith_n in_o scripture-sense_n in_o gospel_n sense_n if_o it_o have_v not_o be_v for_o christ_n if_o he_o the_o mediator_n have_v not_o be_v give_v i_o have_v speak_v of_o it_o as_o it_o be_v faith_n by_o which_o we_o be_v justify_v and_o the_o ground_n why_o it_o be_v faith_n that_o justify_v here_o mean_v which_o i_o have_v not_o mention_v before_o to_o you_o but_o rather_o depend_v upon_o other_o scripture_n for_o i_o shall_v give_v you_o now_o viz._n why_o this_o faith_n or_o believe_v be_v to_o be_v understand_v of_o the_o faith_n that_o justify_v even_o out_o of_o that_o john_n 17._o 7_o 8._o and_o the_o reason_n i_o give_v for_o it_o be_v because_o it_o be_v the_o faith_n upon_o which_o christ_n intercede_v pray_v observe_v it_o christ_n intercede_v for_o believer_n upon_o the_o faith_n that_o believer_n know_v sure_o and_o believe_v concern_v jesus_n christ_n for_o in_o the_o very_a next_o word_n you_o may_v observe_v it_o i_o pray_v for_o they_o say_v he_o i_o pray_v not_o for_o the_o world_n so_o he_o intercede_v for_o they_o they_o have_v know_v and_o believe_v that_o christ_n do_v sure_o come_v forth_o from_o god_n and_o that_o all_o thing_n of_o christ_n be_v divine_a infinite_o divine_a original_o divine_a now_o therefore_o upon_o whatsoever_o christ_n intercede_v pray_v consider_v in_o the_o very_a same_o line_n our_o foundation_n for_o righteousness_n and_o acceptance_n through_o christ_n rest_v his_o justify_v righteousness_n and_o redemption_n and_o his_o intercession_n run_v all_o upon_o one_o line_n together_o that_o be_v a_o plain_a point_n they_o go_v together_o i_o will_v give_v you_o but_o two_o place_n of_o scripture_n because_o i_o will_v not_o prevent_v myself_o in_o what_o i_o have_v especial_o to_o discourse_v of_o one_o be_v heb._n 9_o it_o be_v plain_a by_o all_o scripture_n that_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n be_v that_o great_a price_n of_o our_o redemption_n and_o that_o we_o be_v justify_v free_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n god_n set_v forth_o christ_n as_o a_o propitiaton_n through_o faith_n in_o his_o blood_n now_o you_o shall_v find_v that_o christ_n enter_v by_o his_o blood_n into_o heaven_n heb._n 9_o 12._o but_o by_o his_o own_o blood_n he_o enter_v in_o once_o into_o the_o holy_a place_n have_v obtain_v eternal_a redemption_n for_o we_o christ_n intercede_v now_o in_o heaven_n and_o in_o the_o holy_a place_n into_o that_o holy_a place_n make_v without_o hand_n he_o enter_v to_o intercede_v and_o again_o ver_fw-la 24._o christ_n enter_v not_o into_o the_o holy_a place_n make_v with_o hand_n which_o be_v the_o figure_n of_o the_o true_a but_o into_o heaven_n itself_o now_o to_o appear_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n for_o we_o so_o that_o he_o intercede_v plain_o upon_o his_o blood_n for_o where_o he_o intercede_v he_o enter_v by_o his_o blood_n and_o in_o 1_o john_n 2._o 1._o you_o also_o have_v the_o advocateship_n and_o the_o propitiation_n of_o christ_n join_v together_o my_o little_a child_n these_o thing_n write_v i_o unto_o you_o that_o you_o sin_v not_o and_o if_o any_o man_n sin_n we_o have_v a_o advocate_n with_o the_o father_n viz._n jesus_n christ_n the_o righteous_a and_o he_o be_v the_o propitiation_n for_o our_o sin_n etc._n etc._n therefore_o this_o be_v the_o clear_a ground_n i_o bottom_n this_o truth_n upon_o upon_o what_o christ_n intercede_v that_o be_v certain_o justify_v now_o he_o intercede_v upon_o the_o faith_n of_o believer_n i_o pray_v for_o they_o i_o pray_v not_o for_o the_o world_n viz._n for_o they_o who_o know_v sure_o and_o believe_v in_o i_o i_o have_v endeavour_v to_o open_a faith_n also_o to_o you_o so_o that_o you_o may_v have_v a_o right_a understanding_n that_o faith_n do_v not_o justify_v as_o it_o be_v a_o act_n of_o we_o or_o a_o grace_n in_o we_o or_o any_o thing_n in_o we_o but_o only_o by_o its_o receive_v the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n i_o come_v to_o speak_v of_o the_o assurance_n of_o faith_n they_o have_v know_v and_o they_o have_v sure_o know_v and_o they_o have_v believe_v that_o thou_o do_v send_v i_o knowledge_n or_o as_o the_o learned_a speak_v and_o the_o great_a man_n of_o reason_n call_v it_o science_n be_v the_o high_a degree_n of_o understanding_n now_o this_o our_o lord_n attribute_n to_o faith_n in_o that_o john_n 17._o they_o have_v know_v for_o christ_n do_v not_o come_v mean_o down_o when_o he_o have_v say_v they_o have_v
promise_n if_o it_o be_v so_o that_o heaven_n be_v the_o promise_n for_o i_o will_v ask_v any_o man_n that_o give_v reverence_n to_o this_o word_n of_o god_n do_v you_o believe_v that_o enoch_n noah_n abraham_n isaac_n and_o jacob_n moses_n samuel_n david_n etc._n etc._n do_v you_o think_v they_o be_v now_o in_o heaven_n and_o yet_o say_v the_o apostle_n express_o they_o go_v away_o out_o of_o this_o world_n and_o leave_v a_o great_a fame_n and_o honour_n and_o record_v of_o themselves_o behind_o they_o but_o do_v not_o receive_v the_o promise_n do_v they_o not_o receive_v the_o promise_n immediate_o when_o their_o spirit_n go_v out_o of_o their_o body_n to_o heaven_n can_v it_o be_v say_v they_o receive_v not_o the_o promise_n if_o heaven_n be_v the_o promise_v intend_v and_o yet_o the_o apostle_n say_v they_o receive_v not_o the_o promise_n god_n have_v provide_v some_o better_a thing_n for_o we_o that_o they_o without_o we_o shall_v not_o be_v make_v perfect_a therefore_o i_o say_v that_o glorious_a kingdom_n of_o jesus_n christ_n that_o visible_a glory_n of_o saint_n both_o in_o body_n and_o spirit_n that_o they_o do_v not_o receive_v the_o new_a heaven_n and_o the_o new_a earth_n they_o do_v not_o receive_v which_o the_o apostle_n peter_n say_v we_o look_v for_o according_a to_o promise_v they_o have_v it_o not_o yet_o though_o they_o have_v be_v in_o heaven_n for_o so_o many_o age_n and_o therefore_o faith_n be_v on_o purpose_n for_o this_o kingdom_n of_o jesus_n christ_n among_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v to_o come_v among_o they_o i_o say_v and_o as_o a_o principal_a of_o that_o world_n to_o come_v whereof_o we_o speak_v i_o shall_v therefore_o add_v at_o this_o time_n by_o way_n of_o recollection_n and_o so_o conclude_v with_o application_n a_o recollection_n of_o all_o that_o i_o have_v speak_v of_o the_o great_a excellency_n of_o faith_n and_o i_o beseech_v you_o in_o the_o first_o place_n let_v this_o be_v a_o general_a position_n concern_v faith_n that_o faith_n be_v proper_a to_o that_o new_a creation_n from_o first_o to_o last_o that_o come_v in_o by_o jesus_n christ_n it_o be_v as_o real_o a_o new_a heaven_n if_o i_o may_v so_o represent_v it_o to_o you_o a_o new_a heaven_n of_o grace_n as_o that_o new_a heaven_n the_o apostle_n peter_n and_o john_n speak_v of_o shall_v be_v a_o new_a heaven_n in_o comparison_n of_o that_o we_o have_v now_o the_o heaven_n we_o have_v now_o declare_v the_o glory_n of_o god_n it_o be_v one_o of_o the_o wonderful_a work_n of_o god_n the_o sun_n moon_n and_o star_n how_o wonderful_a be_v they_o and_o yet_o for_o all_o this_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o new_a heaven_n god_n do_v not_o like_o the_o heaven_n that_o be_v now_o as_o sufficient_a to_o declare_v his_o glory_n for_o if_o there_o have_v be_v no_o fault_n find_v with_o the_o heaven_n and_o earth_n that_o be_v now_o what_o place_n have_v there_o be_v for_o a_o new_a heaven_n as_o the_o apostle_n argue_v in_o the_o case_n of_o the_o covenant_n i_o beseech_v you_o consider_v it_o be_v the_o apostle_n own_o argument_n in_o another_o case_n heb._n 8._o 7._o for_o if_o that_o first_o covenant_n have_v be_v faultless_a then_o shall_v no_o place_n be_v seek_v for_o the_o second_o and_o in_o that_o he_o say_v a_o new_a covenant_n he_o have_v make_v the_o first_o old_a now_o that_o which_o decay_v and_o wax_v old_a be_v ready_a to_o vanish_v away_o i_o will_v but_o apply_v it_o to_o the_o new_a heaven_n and_o new_a earth_n if_o there_o have_v be_v no_o fault_n find_v with_o the_o present_a heaven_n and_o earth_n though_o they_o declare_v the_o glory_n of_o god_n what_o place_n have_v there_o be_v for_o another_o heaven_n and_o earth_n for_o the_o second_o heaven_n and_o earth_n and_o why_o be_v they_o say_v to_o wax_v old_a but_o that_o they_o be_v to_o vanish_v away_o sure_o the_o apostle_n argument_n be_v very_o substantial_a according_a to_o the_o discourse_n here_o but_o the_o thing_n that_o i_o intend_v it_o for_o be_v just_a as_o the_o new_a heaven_n and_o the_o new_a earth_n that_o god_n will_v make_v just_o such_o be_v the_o faith_n that_o god_n have_v bring_v in_o that_o great_a grace_n of_o faith_n it_o be_v as_o new_a as_o the_o new_a heaven_n and_o the_o new_a earth_n it_o be_v a_o way_n of_o salvation_n a_o way_n of_o righteousness_n a_o way_n of_o holiness_n a_o way_n of_o eternal_o make_v happy_a as_o new_a as_o the_o new_a heaven_n and_o the_o new_a earth_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v no_o wonder_n that_o man_n boggle_v at_o faith_n so_o and_o that_o they_o make_v such_o a_o stir_n about_o it_o and_o be_v such_o enemy_n to_o it_o that_o no_o discourse_n that_o be_v find_v in_o the_o gospel_n will_v please_v they_o or_o serve_v their_o turn_n it_o be_v because_o god_n have_v create_v a_o new_a thing_n it_o be_v not_o of_o the_o first_o creation_n but_o a_o new_a thing_n grace_n of_o a_o new_a erection_n of_o a_o new_a extraction_n o_o bless_a be_v they_o that_o have_v it_o for_o it_o be_v as_o much_o above_o nature_n as_o the_o new_a heaven_n and_o the_o new_a earth_n shall_v be_v above_o the_o present_a heaven_n and_o the_o present_a earth_n it_o be_v prepare_v and_o fit_v on_o purpose_n by_o the_o mediator_n to_o give_v it_o you_o in_o another_o expression_n and_o i_o beseech_v you_o rest_n upon_o it_o and_o that_o you_o may_v have_v it_o ready_a to_o discourse_n when_o any_o assail_v the_o doctrine_n of_o faith_n that_o you_o may_v have_v it_o fit_v within_o your_o lip_n as_o solomon_n say_v i_o say_v again_o just_o as_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o second_o adam_n exceed_v the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o first_o just_o so_o do_v the_o way_n of_o faith_n exceed_v the_o integrity_n and_o uprightness_n of_o adam_n in_o the_o first_o creation_n wherein_o he_o be_v create_v you_o will_v say_v how_o can_v you_o make_v this_o appear_v there_o be_v a_o plain_a scripture_n for_o it_o i_o appeal_v to_o all_o the_o world_n upon_o this_o scripture_n against_o the_o great_a enemy_n of_o faith_n therefore_o it_o be_v of_o faith_n that_o it_o may_v be_v by_o grace_n to_o the_o end_n that_o the_o promise_n may_v be_v sure_a to_o all_o the_o seed_n rom._n 4._o 16._o as_o much_o therefore_o as_o grace_n excel_v the_o righteousness_n of_o man_n in_o his_o first_o creation_n so_o much_o do_v faith_n excel_v all_o natural_a power_n and_o as_o the_o certainty_n of_o grace_n excel_v that_o of_o our_o do_v so_o much_o do_v faith_n excel_v the_o first_o state_n in_o which_o man_n be_v create_v for_o it_o be_v of_o faith_n that_o it_o may_v be_v by_o grace_n and_o then_o that_o it_o may_v be_v sure_a it_o must_v be_v of_o grace_n i_o say_v therefore_o i_o beseech_v you_o conceive_v right_a of_o the_o excellency_n of_o faith_n by_o what_o i_o have_v speak_v to_o you_o out_o of_o this_o very_a scripture_n rom._n 4._o 16._o and_o have_v it_o in_o your_o mouth_n as_o that_o word_n of_o truth_n by_o which_o you_o may_v answer_v any_o that_o reproach_v the_o holy_a doctrine_n of_o grace_n and_o faith_n in_o the_o gospel_n but_o i_o will_v add_v but_o brief_o of_o the_o excellency_n of_o faith_n wherein_o god_n have_v magnify_v faith_n above_o any_o other_o grace_n and_o yet_o i_o shall_v show_v you_o in_o the_o next_o discourse_n if_o the_o lord_n will_v give_v i_o leave_v to_o do_v it_o that_o notwithstanding_o all_o this_o excellency_n of_o faith_n it_o can_v in_o the_o least_o be_v say_v to_o justify_v by_o itself_o but_o only_o by_o that_o hold_v it_o have_v of_o christ_n and_o of_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n but_o i_o say_v at_o the_o present_a first_o of_o all_o here_o be_v the_o excellency_n of_o faith_n that_o faith_n hang_v only_o upon_o god_n and_o christ_n and_o that_o which_o be_v divine_a and_o eternal_a it_o will_v not_o venture_v upon_o any_o thing_n that_o be_v create_v and_o if_o you_o come_v once_o to_o true_a faith_n you_o hang_v only_o upon_o god_n and_o christ_n and_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n a_o great_a deal_n of_o difference_n when_o a_o man_n hang_v by_o this_o and_o that_o title_n that_o he_o think_v be_v well_o ground_v and_o be_v in_o himself_o and_o in_o the_o creature_n he_o have_v nothing_o then_o of_o faith_n for_o faith_n hang_v whole_o upon_o god_n and_o christ_n and_o the_o spirit_n and_o grace_n and_o what_o be_v divine_a and_o eternal_a in_o the_o second_o place_n faith_n it_o give_v all_o the_o glory_n to_o god_n it_o must_v needs_o do_v so_o when_o it_o hang_v all_o upon_o he_o give_v glory_n to_o god_n and_o christ_n and_o grace_n give_v glory_n whole_o to_o he_o as_o rom._n 4._o you_o know_v abraham_n be_v strong_a in_o faith_n and_o give_v glory_n to_o god_n
