be_v as_o if_o a_o cudgel_n shall_v look_v big_a and_o admire_v itself_o because_o a_o man_n lift_v it_o up_o whereas_o the_o thing_n in_o itself_o be_v but_o wood_n which_o can_v once_o stir_v if_o fool_n they_o pretend_v to_o be_v belove_v by_o all_o &_o indeed_o they_o be_v abhor_v by_o all_o by_o their_o better_n because_o these_o man_n make_v themselves_o their_o equal_n by_o their_o equal_n because_o these_o man_n make_v themselves_o their_o better_n by_o their_o inferior_n because_o these_o man_n depress_v they_o more_o than_o they_o shall_v even_o the_o domestics_n and_o servant_n speak_v ill_a of_o their_o master_n and_o endure_v he_o not_o where_o pride_n be_v there_o be_v reproach_n and_o on_o the_o other_o side_n the_o humble_a man_n be_v value_v and_o esteem_v affect_a and_o belove_v by_o all_o as_o child_n who_o for_o their_o goodness_n their_o innocency_n their_o simplicity_n of_o heart_n be_v belove_v so_o say_v saint_n gregory_n be_v the_o humble_a for_o that_o clearness_n and_o plainness_n of_o theispeech_n and_o that_o converse_v without_o doublenes_n or_o deceit_n even_o rob_v man_n of_o their_o very_a heart_n humility_n be_v a_o loadstone_n which_o at_o length_n be_v full_o persuade_v that_o it_o be_v a_o mere_a madness_n to_o go_v desire_v and_o procure_v the_o estimation_n and_o opinion_n of_o man_n saint_n bernard_n make_v a_o very_a good_a dilemma_n and_o conclude_v thus_o either_o it_o be_v madness_n in_o the_o son_n of_o god_n to_o abase_v and_o empty_v himself_o so_o far_o as_o to_o choose_v contempt_n and_o dishonour_n for_o himself_o or_o else_o it_o be_v extreme_a madness_n in_o we_o to_o be_v in_o so_o great_a desire_n of_o the_o honour_n and_o estimation_n of_o the_o world_n it_o be_v not_o folly_n or_o madness_n in_o the_o son_n of_o god_n neither_o can_v it_o be_v though_o the_o world_n think_v it_o be_v as_o saint_n paul_n say_v to_o the_o blind_a and_o proud_a gentile_n and_o jew_n christ_n our_o lord_n seem_v to_o be_v a_o folly_n or_o madness_n but_o unto_o we_o who_o have_v the_o light_n of_o faith_n he_o be_v infinite_a wisdom_n and_o love_n now_o if_o his_o be_v infinite_a wisdom_n it_o will_v follow_v that_o we_o be_v stupidity_n and_o folly_n and_o that_o we_o be_v very_a sot_n in_o make_v such_o account_n as_o we_o do_v of_o the_o opinion_n estimation_n and_o honour_n of_o the_o world_n chap._n say_v you_o will_v not_o yet_o forsake_v these_o sum_n and_o abate_v that_o edge_n and_o desire_n of_o honour_n and_o estimation_n but_o will_v still_o be_v say_v that_o in_o fine_a it_o be_v a_o be_o content_a that_o you_o have_v care_n to_o keep_v the_o good_a name_n you_o have_v and_o that_o you_o be_v esteem_v and_o hold_v in_o good_a opinion_n by_o the_o world_n but_o yet_o i_o give_v you_o to_o understand_v withal_o that_o if_o you_o desire_v it_o as_o you_o say_v you_o do_v you_o err_v even_o in_o order_n to_o that_o for_o which_o you_o desire_v it_o and_o that_o you_o shall_v never_o obtain_v that_o end_n by_o this_o mean_n but_o the_o direct_a contrary_n the_o safe_a and_o certain_a way_n whereby_o you_o shall_v infallible_o come_v to_o be_v much_o value_v and_o esteem_v thing_n it_o be_v for_o such_o man_n to_o affect_v the_o estimation_n of_o the_o world_n who_o profess_v to_o aspire_v towards_o perfection_n let_v such_o a_o desire_n come_v but_o once_o so_o to_o light_v as_o that_o other_o may_v discern_v that_o you_o desire_v it_o and_o you_o will_v quick_o find_v how_o much_o yourself_o will_v be_v confound_v and_o out_o of_o countenance_n that_o any_o such_o thing_n shall_v be_v conceive_v of_o you_o we_o have_v a_o very_a good_a example_n of_o this_o in_o the_o holy_a gospel_n the_o evangelist_n relate_v that_o the_o apostle_n go_v once_o with_o christ_n our_o lord_n but_o yet_o at_o such_o distance_n from_o he_o that_o they_o may_v think_v he_o hear_v they_o not_o and_o so_o they_o go_v discourse_v and_o argue_v among_o themselves_o which_o
