eternal_a life_n for_o those_o their_o good_a deed_n this_o doctrine_n also_o condemn_v all_o secure_a man_n that_o have_v no_o sense_n of_o sin_n for_o the_o law_n shall_v so_o lay_v open_a unto_o we_o the_o sore_n of_o our_o sin_n that_o the_o very_a sight_n thereof_o may_v send_v we_o to_o christ_n for_o the_o end_n of_o it_o be_v so_o to_o charge_v we_o with_o our_o own_o woeful_a estate_n in_o the_o several_a branch_n thereof_o be_v not_o only_o hurtful_a unto_o we_o but_o also_o injurious_a unto_o the_o due_a estimation_n of_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n i_o can_v more_o fit_o in_o deed_n they_o nourish_v monster_n at_o home_n and_o can_v well_o enough_o away_o with_o they_o yea_o which_o more_o be_v play_v and_o dally_v with_o they_o it_o be_v good_a in_o such_o cause_n to_o practice_v first_o upon_o a_o man_n himself_o before_o he_o take_v liberty_n to_o go_v abroad_o first_o to_o use_v some_o sharp_a deal_n with_o his_o own_o affection_n to_o see_v how_o that_o differ_v one_o from_o a_o other_o as_o heaven_n be_v from_o earth_n the_o servant_n of_o god_n give_v over_o their_o own_o righteousness_n they_o find_v nothing_o in_o it_o they_o do_v clear_o see_v it_o will_v not_o go_v for_o payment_n and_o therefore_o do_v betake_v themselves_o to_o the_o merit_n of_o a_o other_o neither_o do_v they_o only_o say_v that_o they_o be_v unrighteous_a in_o ungodly_a either_o murmur_n against_o god_n either_o else_o fall_v into_o some_o one_o evil_a deal_n or_o other_o thereby_o to_o purchase_v their_o deliverance_n which_o be_v a_o assure_a testimony_n that_o they_o do_v not_o look_v to_o have_v it_o from_o the_o lord_n now_o we_o have_v hear_v what_o several_a benefit_n do_v come_v with_o christ_n and_o that_o we_o do_v not_o receive_v he_o naked_a holiness_n and_o sanctification_n of_o life_n and_o well_o do_v guide_v and_o direct_v by_o his_o word_n a_o false_a persuasion_n to_o avoid_v danger_n by_o our_o own_o satisfaction_n in_o stead_n of_o a_o assure_a stand_v to_o his_o redemption_n and_o delivery_n in_o all_o our_o necessity_n and_o want_n these_o be_v the_o wither_a branch_n of_o that_o rot_a root_n our_o old_a adam_n and_o the_o nature_n and_o disposition_n of_o all_o man_n go_v this_o way_n except_o they_o be_v reclaim_v by_o christ_n as_o all_o those_o be_v in_o his_o appoint_a time_n that_o shall_v inherit_v with_o order_n do_v require_v to_o speak_v somewhat_o of_o prayer_n be_v such_o a_o fruit_n and_o effect_n thereof_o as_o can_v be_v part_v from_o it_o for_o as_o faith_n be_v weak_a or_o strong_a so_o be_v prayer_n cold_a or_o careful_a spare_v or_o plentiful_a because_o true_a prayer_n receive_v life_n from_o faith_n which_o without_o it_o be_v dead_a &_o nothing_o worth_a and_o because_o faith_n quicken_v prayer_n we_o may_v true_o judge_v of_o faith_n by_o our_o prayer_n cold_a prayer_n cold_a faith_n few_o prayer_n little_a faith_n they_o increase_v and_o decay_v together_o they_o arise_v and_o spring_v up_o both_o at_o one_o time_n in_o this_o treatise_n of_o prayer_n before_o i_o shall_v expound_v the_o petition_n that_o be_v what_o thing_n be_v to_o be_v ask_v it_o shall_v be_v very_o profitable_a to_o speak_v somewhat_o before_o necessary_a for_o the_o prepare_n of_o we_o thereunto_o herein_o the_o first_o thing_n to_o be_v consider_v be_v the_o use_n and_o end_n of_o we_o know_v and_o well_o remember_v that_o we_o have_v ask_v and_o beg_v before_o at_o his_o hand_n in_o prayer_n so_o that_o prayer_n lead_v we_o to_o this_o certain_a and_o assure_a knowledge_n of_o god_n his_o good_a meaning_n towards_o we_o which_o be_v the_o fountain_n of_o all_o true_a service_n and_o praise_n of_o god_n while_o prayer_n go_v in_o every_o necessity_n to_o try_v for_o itself_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n promise_v in_o his_o word_n and_o bring_v with_o it_o a_o true_a certificate_n and_o good_a experience_n thereof_o in_o that_o his_o suit_n be_v grant_v and_o he_o in_o his_o prayer_n be_v comfort_v and_o this_o assurance_n of_o god_n his_o particular_a regard_n and_o favour_n towards_o we_o bring_v with_o it_o a_o serve_v and_o honour_v of_o god_n in_o truth_n and_o therefore_o solomon_n render_v this_o reason_n why_o he_o will_v have_v the_o lord_n to_o grant_v the_o petition_n that_o his_o servant_n shall_v pray_v for_o 8.40_o that_o say_v he_o they_o may_v fear_v thou_o as_o long_o as_o they_o live_v it_o be_v his_o reason_n also_o why_o he_o will_v have_v the_o stranger_n which_o be_v not_o of_o the_o people_n of_o israel_n hear_v in_o all_o that_o prayer_n a_o true_a fruit_n of_o faith_n that_o confirm_v we_o therein_o according_a as_o the_o prophet_n david_n testify_v of_o himself_o 116.1_o that_o he_o love_v the_o lord_n because_o he_o have_v hear_v his_o prayer_n our_o faith_n have_v need_n of_o all_o the_o help_n that_o can_v be_v to_o strengthen_v it_o withal_o in_o temptation_n and_o therefore_o this_o trial_n of_o it_o when_o we_o temptation_n and_o blind_a &_o entangle_v therein_o as_o the_o godly_a that_o live_v may_v be_v and_o yet_o afterward_o by_o affliction_n or_o some_o other_o mean_n deliver_v from_o the_o same_o for_o when_o it_o please_v the_o lord_n to_o lay_v affliction_n upon_o he_o no_o doubt_n there_o be_v in_o they_o this_o err_a from_o his_o way_n and_o hardness_n of_o heart_n from_o his_o fear_n which_o
