principle_n but_o 2._o second_o a_o mere_a natural_a man_n that_o have_v but_o a_o natural_a principle_n may_v outstrip_v some_o christian_n in_o this_o work_n of_o forgive_a wrong_n and_o injury_n because_o there_o be_v many_o a_o natural_a man_n place_n his_o life_n and_o righteousness_n in_o this_o he_o have_v nothing_o else_o to_o commend_v he_o to_o god_n nothing_o else_o to_o trust_v to_o for_o salvation_n nothing_o else_o he_o be_v quiet_a peaceable_a love_a and_o one_o that_o will_v do_v no_o wrong_n rather_o put_v up_o wrong_n and_o injury_n than_o do_v wrong_n unto_o any_o now_o whenas_o a_o man_n do_v trust_v to_o any_o of_o his_o work_n for_o life_n it_o be_v a_o wonder_n to_o see_v what_o a_o great_a deal_n such_o a_o man_n will_v do_v whenas_o a_o man_n work_v for_o life_n there_o be_v such_o a_o desire_n in_o such_o man_n to_o work_v for_o life_n and_o to_o work_v for_o righteousness_n and_o work_v for_o heaven_n it_o be_v very_o admirable_a to_o see_v what_o a_o natural_a man_n will_v do_v upon_o such_o a_o account_n oh_o what_o a_o shame_n be_v it_o to_o christian_n yet_o there_o be_v no_o true_a believer_n but_o be_v bind_v to_o do_v as_o much_o for_o god_n and_o as_o much_o for_o christ_n as_o if_o he_o be_v to_o earn_v life_n and_o salvation_n by_o do_v christ_n have_v lay_v down_o his_o life_n for_o he_o he_o account_v himself_o as_o much_o engage_v to_o do_v for_o christ_n as_o if_o he_o be_v to_o gain_v life_n by_o do_v it_o be_v a_o shame_n to_o christian_n to_o consider_v what_o a_o natural_a man_n will_v do_v for_o life_n and_o salvation_n but_o 3._o three_o there_o be_v many_o a_o natural_a man_n will_v outstrip_v a_o christian_a in_o this_o because_o some_o natural_a man_n have_v the_o advantage_n of_o a_o natural_a building_n his_o wisdom_n do_v appear_v the_o more_o in_o make_v these_o crooked_a thing_n straight_o take_v away_o the_o knottiness_n and_o unevenness_n that_o be_v in_o the_o nature_n of_o poor_a creature_n but_o now_o a_o man_n that_o be_v of_o a_o mild_a nature_n a_o soft_a disposition_n he_o have_v a_o great_a advantage_n it_o be_v no_o hard_a matter_n for_o he_o to_o pass_v by_o wrong_n to_o their_o duty_n without_o much_o strive_n struggle_a wrestle_a pray_v and_o cry_v unto_o the_o lord_n that_o be_v another_o cause_n why_o some_o natural_a man_n may_v exceed_v a_o christian_a in_o that_o work_n of_o pass_v by_o wrong_n and_o injury_n and_o then_o 4._o four_o a_o natural_a man_n may_v not_o meet_v with_o such_o opposition_n from_o without_o a_o natural_a man_n may_v not_o be_v so_o much_o hinder_v in_o this_o work_n when_o the_o lord_n call_v he_o thereunto_o for_o the_o devil_n suit_v his_o temptation_n according_a to_o the_o qualification_n and_o disposition_n of_o the_o creature_n where_o he_o see_v they_o mild_a he_o will_v not_o put_v they_o upon_o such_o rugged_a temptation_n the_o devil_n will_v let_v a_o natural_a man_n alone_o and_o will_v not_o seek_v to_o hinder_v he_o no_o when_o he_o be_v in_o the_o practice_n of_o such_o a_o good_a as_o this_o for_o the_o devil_n know_v that_o these_o his_o work_n be_v nothing_o and_o he_o know_v that_o such_o a_o man_n when_o he_o have_v do_v never_o so_o much_o forgive_v seventy_o time_n seven_o his_o best_a work_n be_v nothing_o without_o faith_n if_o he_o have_v no_o interest_n in_o christ_n yet_o such_o heart_n and_o a_o mere_a natural_a man_n and_o i_o pray_v take_v notice_n of_o it_o for_o it_o may_v be_v for_o the_o discovery_n of_o the_o great_a deceitfulness_n of_o man_n heart_n in_o this_o the_o apprehension_n of_o the_o love_n of_o god_n nor_o from_o any_o persuasion_n of_o his_o duty_n or_o any_o desire_n that_o he_o have_v to_o express_v his_o likeness_n and_o conformity_n unto_o god_n in_o christ_n i_o say_v his_o reason_n be_v from_o himself_o he_o may_v reason_v thus_o alas_o this_o be_v unworthy_a of_o a_o man_n to_o express_v wrath_n to_o take_v revenge_n or_o this_o will_v but_o disturb_v my_o own_o peace_n this_o will_v but_o lay_v i_o open_v to_o other_o it_o will_v but_o discover_v my_o nakedness_n and_o frowardness_n my_o passion_n which_o be_v my_o contrary_a working_n of_o his_o own_o heart_n which_o do_v lie_v in_o the_o way_n to_o hinder_v he_o he_o be_v not_o sensible_a of_o his_o own_o contrary_a motion_n that_o be_v in_o his_o own_o spirit_n against_o this_o duty_n he_o be_v not_o sensible_a of_o the_o need_n he_o stand_v of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n to_o help_v he_o herein_o and_o therefore_o he_o do_v not_o make_v use_n be_v accept_v of_o god_n in_o that_o condition_n it_o be_v not_o the_o work_n and_o employment_n that_o god_n look_v at_o but_o the_o faithfulness_n the_o faithful_a carriage_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o spirit_n and_o the_o work_n though_o it_o be_v never_o so_o mean_a and_o never_o such_o drudgery_n if_o do_v to_o the_o lord_n in_o faithfulness_n god_n accept_v of_o it_o and_o thus_o he_o be_v christ_n freeborn_a of_o the_o freewoman_n free_a in_o the_o inward_a man_n and_o do_v more_o willing_o and_o content_o submit_v himself_o unto_o the_o condition_n of_o a_o servant_n if_o the_o lord_n be_v please_v to_o place_v he_o in_o it_o 2._o second_o again_o as_o he_o be_v a_o servant_n he_o yield_v all_o due_a honour_n respect_n and_o obedience_n unto_o his_o master_n or_o to_o such_o as_o god_n have_v set_v over_o he_o he_o yield_v obedience_n in_o all_o thing_n in_o the_o lord_n he_o be_v also_o careful_a of_o the_o good_a name_n and_o estate_n of_o his_o master_n whatsoever_o he_o be_v instruct_v in_o or_o trust_v with_o as_o joseph_n and_o jacob_n be_v he_o be_v careful_a of_o all_o the_o estate_n that_o his_o master_n put_v into_o his_o hand_n he_o will_v not_o wrong_v his_o enmity_n against_o god_n yet_o know_v that_o the_o lord_n be_v able_a to_o forgive_v enemy_n and_o though_o you_o have_v nothing_o in_o the_o world_n to_o procure_v your_o acceptance_n you_o can_v do_v nothing_o that_o shall_v commend_v you_o to_o god_n yet_o know_v that_o the_o lord_n he_o forgive_v free_o and_o though_o your_o transgression_n have_v be_v multiply_v though_o very_o many_o though_o very_o great_a though_o you_o have_v make_v the_o lord_n to_o serve_v with_o your_o sin_n and_o weary_v he_o with_o your_o iniquity_n yet_o he_o be_v able_a to_o blot_v they_o out_o free_o for_o his_o own_o name_n sake_n oh_o than_o that_o the_o lord_n will_v persuade_v your_o heart_n to_o come_v and_o to_o submit_v to_o christ_n and_o not_o to_o go_v on_o in_o the_o way_n of_o rebellion_n and_o take_v hold_v of_o that_o great_a propitiatory_a sacrifice_n and_o then_o you_o shall_v know_v that_o the_o lord_n forgive_v for_o he_o forgive_v you_o cordial_o and_o sincere_o he_o in_o a_o day_n and_o say_v i_o repent_v thou_o shall_v forgive_v he_o oh_o how_o far_o be_v we_o from_o forgive_a seven_a time_n in_o a_o day_n we_o be_v so_o far_o from_o forgive_a seven_a offence_n great_a desire_n his_o care_n to_o redeem_v time_n from_o the_o world_n that_o he_o may_v converse_v with_o god_n and_o converse_v with_o his_o own_o heart_n and_o therefore_o he_o be_v a_o good_a husband_n with_o time_n he_o husband_n his_o time_n well_o that_o the_o great_a thing_n of_o god_n may_v not_o be_v shut_v out_o he_o know_v that_o they_o be_v of_o great_a concernment_n the_o thing_n of_o god_n and_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n to_o come_v be_v of_o great_a concernment_n he_o be_v hasten_v to_o eternity_n here_o be_v no_o stay_n here_o here_o he_o be_v upon_o the_o bridge_n do_v they_o to_o the_o lord_n he_o look_v upon_o it_o as_o a_o trust_n from_o god_n and_o by_o that_o trust_n he_o be_v engage_v to_o faithfulness_n and_o he_o desire_v to_o make_v god_n his_o last_o end_n there_o be_v a_o further_a end_n beside_o the_o gain_n of_o riches_n and_o live_n in_o the_o world_n there_o be_v a_o further_a end_n which_o he_o eye_n which_o be_v more_o honourable_a more_o noble_a and_o that_o be_v to_o serve_v god_n in_o his_o generation_n that_o he_o may_v be_v a_o instrument_n in_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n to_o do_v some_o good_a in_o his_o generation_n that_o god_n may_v have_v the_o glory_n of_o it_o this_o be_v the_o last_o end_n and_o so_o he_o do_v all_o as_o to_o the_o lord_n he_o desire_v also_o to_o be_v holy_a and_o spiritual_a in_o the_o midst_n of_o his_o call_v though_o his_o hand_n be_v to_o the_o earth_n he_o desire_v that_o his_o heart_n may_v be_v upright_o he_o groan_v under_o the_o burden_n of_o a_o carnal_a heart_n it_o be_v worse_o than_o death_n to_o he_o to_o be_v carnal_o mind_v he_o rejoice_v in_o the_o promise_n of_o holiness_n and_o in_o that_o prophecy_n in_o zachariah_n in_o that_o day_n holiness_n shall_v be_v write_v to_o the_o lord_n upon_o the_o bell_n of_o horse_n there_o be_v a_o promise_n that_o god_n people_n shall_v be_v holy_a when_o they_o be_v in_o the_o world_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o their_o calling_n and_o employment_n holiness_n shall_v be_v write_v to_o the_o lord_n upon_o they_o he_o rejoice_v to_o think_v that_o that_o time_n be_v a_o come_n he_o pray_v and_o wait_v to_o see_v the_o accomplishment_n of_o it_o in_o his_o own_o spirit_n he_o desire_v to_o sanctify_v all_o by_o the_o word_n and_o prayer_n he_o know_v its_o the_o blessing_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o not_o his_o own_o endeavour_n that_o can_v make_v he_o prosperous_a in_o his_o call_v he_o desire_v also_o that_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n do_v shut_v out_o the_o thing_n of_o god_n that_o be_v another_o part_n of_o his_o walk_n with_o god_n oh_o how_o fearful_a be_v he_o to_o grasp_v too_o much_o of_o the_o world_n how_o fearful_a be_v he_o that_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n shall_v deprive_v he_o of_o those_o opportunity_n of_o wait_v upon_o god_n of_o communion_n with_o the_o lord_n and_o with_o his_o own_o spirit_n he_o do_v not_o live_v upon_o his_o own_o endeavour_n but_o he_o live_v by_o faith_n whilst_o he_o work_v with_o his_o hand_n he_o exercise_v faith_n in_o the_o promise_n for_o protection_n blessing_n and_o acceptance_n he_o desire_v also_o to_o shun_v all_o those_o snare_n and_o temptation_n that_o be_v in_o the_o way_n of_o his_o call_v as_o every_o call_v have_v its_o special_a snare_n and_o temptation_n he_o desire_v there_o to_o be_v most_o watchful_a where_o there_o be_v most_o likelihood_n he_o shall_v slip_v and_o fall_v and_o be_v snare_v and_o break_v he_o pray_v and_o watch_v against_o the_o temptation_n that_o be_v in_o his_o way_n and_o be_v willing_a to_o abide_v with_o god_n in_o his_o call_v i_o shall_v now_o come_v to_o show_v you_o what_o this_o person_n be_v in_o his_o relation_n one_o that_o walk_v with_o god_n you_o shall_v find_v active_a gracious_a carry_v it_o gracious_o in_o his_o relation_n and_o i_o shall_v only_o speak_v now_o of_o family_n relation_n and_o there_o be_v some_o need_n we_o shall_v speak_v of_o that_o it_o seem_v to_o be_v hint_v in_o the_o text_n that_o enoch_n be_v faithful_a with_o god_n in_o his_o family_n and_o this_o be_v mention_v that_o enoch_n walk_v with_o god_n after_o he_o beget_v methusalem_n three_o hundred_o year_n and_o beget_v son_n and_o daughter_n and_o as_o he_o beget_v they_o so_o he_o bring_v they_o up_o to_o god_n and_o be_v find_v faithful_a in_o his_o family_n relation_n there_o be_v three_o sort_n there_o be_v that_o of_o husband_n and_o wife_n parent_n and_o child_n and_z
servant_z and_o master_n i_o shall_v not_o speak_v large_o of_o all_o these_o it_o will_v be_v too_o large_a a_o subject_n i_o shall_v only_o now_o give_v you_o some_o hint_n what_o that_o gracious_a person_n be_v that_o walk_n with_o god_n as_o enoch_n do_v and_o how_o he_o carry_v it_o in_o those_o several_a relation_n to_o begin_v with_o the_o relation_n of_o the_o wife_n and_o husband_n have_v speak_v honourable_o of_o her_o husband_n and_o speak_v honourable_o unto_o he_o you_o know_v what_o be_v mary_n carriage_n to_o joseph_n though_o she_o may_v seem_v to_o be_v above_o he_o she_o say_v speak_v of_o this_o virtuous_a woman_n in_o prov._n 21._o 12._o she_o will_v do_v he_o good_a and_o not_o evil_a all_o the_o day_n of_o his_o life_n she_o endeavour_v to_o help_v he_o and_o to_o do_v he_o good_a in_o his_o soul_n body_n and_o estate_n she_o will_v do_v he_o good_a in_o every_o condition_n in_o affliction_n in_o low_a condition_n when_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v upon_o though_o he_o dare_v not_o love_v the_o creature_n immediate_o nor_o rejoice_v nor_o delight_n in_o the_o creature_n because_o he_o know_v that_n idolatry_n yet_o he_o love_v that_o which_o he_o see_v of_o god_n in_o she_o and_o under_o god_n he_o love_v her_o next_o to_o god_n with_o the_o dear_a love_n that_o that_o be_v the_o most_o near_a relation_n it_o be_v near_o than_o the_o relation_n of_o father_n and_o mother_n son_n and_o daughter_n this_o be_v not_o only_o a_o natural_a but_o supernatural_a relation_n it_o be_v a_o mystical_a relation_n and_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o god_n in_o make_v two_o to_o become_v one_o and_o therefore_o i_o say_v of_o that_o love_n which_o be_v due_a to_o and_o which_o he_o may_v give_v unto_o the_o creature_n he_o give_v unto_o she_o the_o great_a share_n as_o be_v the_o near_a relation_n and_o because_o he_o love_v she_o you_o shall_v see_v how_o he_o carry_v himself_o towards_o she_o 1._o first_o he_o love_v her_o soul_n in_o the_o first_o place_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v that_o he_o most_o desire_v to_o do_v her_o good_a in_o her_o spirit_n therefore_o it_o be_v that_o he_o instruct_v and_o pray_v with_o she_o and_o he_o i_o shall_v be_v no_o loser_n death_n be_v look_v upon_o as_o a_o loss_n therefore_o as_o paul_n shall_v have_v say_v for_o i_o to_o live_v be_v christ_n or_o to_o die_v be_v christ_n but_o he_o rather_o say_v it_o be_v gain_n it_o be_v christ_n that_o make_v it_o gain_v to_o he_o or_o else_o it_o be_v a_o loss_n to_o i_o but_o christ_n who_o be_v my_o life_n shall_v make_v death_n gain_v duty_n and_o performance_n but_o no_o live_a grace_n there_o be_v no_o live_a performance_n until_o such_o time_n as_o christ_n be_v a_o principle_n of_o life_n unto_o the_o soul_n the_o beginning_n
