way_n to_o the_o distinct_a handle_n and_o understand_v of_o they_o i_o will_v therefore_o before_o i_o proceed_v any_o further_a labour_v to_o divide_v they_o aright_o into_o their_o natural_a head_n according_a to_o the_o rule_n of_o reason_n and_o truth_n and_o so_o will_v proceed_v to_o that_o which_o be_v the_o first_o in_o time_n and_o by_o the_o course_n and_o order_n of_o nature_n namely_o the_o creation_n of_o the_o world_n and_o all_o thing_n in_o it_o the_o learned_a though_o they_o all_o acknowledge_v every_o kind_n of_o god_n outward_a work_n and_o do_v not_o differ_v in_o the_o kind_n and_o number_n of_o they_o yet_o they_o be_v at_o variance_n about_o the_o true_a division_n of_o they_o into_o their_o first_o and_o principal_a head_n some_o divide_v the_o work_n of_o god_n into_o the_o work_n of_o creation_n and_o the_o work_n of_o redemption_n but_o this_o be_v no_o perfect_a division_n the_o two_o member_n of_o it_o do_v not_o contain_v all_o the_o outward_a work_n of_o god_n for_o over_o and_o beside_o they_o there_o be_v work_n of_o preservation_n and_o of_o judgement_n and_o revenge_n other_o divide_v all_o god_n outward_a work_n into_o the_o work_n of_o nature_n and_o the_o work_n of_o grace_n the_o work_n of_o nature_n they_o divide_v into_o two_o sort_n 1._o the_o work_n which_o concern_v the_o first_o beginning_n of_o nature_n that_o be_v the_o work_n of_o creation_n 2._o the_o work_n which_o concern_v the_o preservation_n which_o they_o call_v the_o work_n of_o god_n providence_n the_o work_n of_o grace_n they_o hold_v to_o be_v the_o work_n of_o redemption_n and_o restauration_n of_o mankind_n by_o which_o god_n bring_v supernatural_a blessing_n to_o man_n but_o this_o division_n fail_v in_o divers_a respect_n first_o it_o make_v a_o difference_n between_o work_n of_o nature_n and_o work_n of_o grace_n whereas_o indeed_o creation_n and_o preservation_n which_o they_o account_v work_n of_o nature_n be_v in_o some_o sense_n work_v of_o grace_n for_o god_n of_o his_o own_o free_a grace_n create_v man_n in_o his_o own_o image_n and_o now_o and_o ever_o since_o the_o first_o sm_n of_o adam_n which_o bring_v death_n and_o destruction_n into_o the_o world_n all_o work_n of_o preservation_n by_o which_o god_n preserve_v man_n in_o be_v and_o life_n be_v work_n of_o free_a grace_n and_o the_o preserve_n of_o his_o elect_n unto_o his_o heavenly_a kingdom_n be_v a_o work_n of_o supernatural_a grace_n in_o christ._n second_o they_o err_v in_o distinguish_v between_o the_o work_n of_o god_n providence_n and_o the_o work_n of_o redemption_n and_o restauration_n whereas_o redemption_n and_o restauration_n be_v principal_a work_n of_o god_n providence_n by_o which_o god_n provide_v for_o his_o elect_a in_o christ_n such_o thing_n as_o neither_o eye_n have_v see_v nor_o ear_n hear_v neither_o have_v enter_v into_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n 1_o cor._n 2._o 9_o a_o three_o sort_n there_o be_v who_o divide_v all_o god_n outward_a work_n into_o these_o two_o head_n only_o namely_o the_o work_n of_o creation_n and_o the_o work_n of_o actual_a providence_n this_o i_o take_v to_o be_v the_o best_a and_o most_o perfect_a division_n first_o because_o under_o these_o head_n be_v all_o god_n outward_a work_n contain_v and_o there_o be_v not_o any_o one_o which_o may_v not_o be_v reduce_v under_o one_o of_o these_o two_o for_o whatsoever_o god_n do_v or_o have_v do_v or_o can_v do_v for_o the_o give_v of_o the_o first_o be_v to_o all_o thing_n may_v be_v reduce_v to_o creation_n and_o whatsoever_o god_n do_v or_o can_v do_v for_o the_o order_n preserve_v and_o dispose_n of_o thing_n create_v and_o of_o their_o be_v and_o well-being_n may_v be_v bring_v under_o the_o work_n of_o his_o actual_a providence_n second_o there_o be_v a_o perfect_a distinction_n and_o difference_n between_o the_o work_n of_o creation_n and_o the_o work_n of_o actual_a providence_n so_o far_o as_o man_n substance_n differ_v from_o man_n misery_n and_o man_n felicity_n so_o far_o do_v every_o proper_a work_n of_o creation_n differ_v from_o the_o work_n of_o god_n actual_a providence_n in_o their_o object_n and_o although_o god_n in_o the_o create_v of_o thing_n in_o order_n do_v show_v his_o providence_n for_o man_n in_o that_o he_o first_o make_v a_o place_n of_o habitation_n for_o he_o and_o all_o thing_n which_o may_v serve_v for_o his_o use_n as_o plant_n tree_n fruit_n light_n and_o other_o necessary_n before_o he_o create_v he_o yet_o this_o breed_v no_o confusion_n between_o the_o work_n of_o creation_n and_o the_o work_n of_o preservation_n for_o two_o thing_n may_v go_v together_o in_o time_n and_o place_n and_o may_v be_v in_o the_o same_o subject_n as_o we_o see_v sense_n and_o understanding_n hear_v and_o see_v in_o one_o man_n at_o the_o same_o time_n and_o heat_n and_o light_n in_o fire_n and_o yet_o they_o may_v be_v different_a in_o themselves_o this_o order_n
