covenant_n of_o work_n and_o of_o grace_n a_o rule_n to_o try_v the_o opinion_n of_o the_o adversary_n &_o we_o by_o can_v none_o better_o be_v find_v they_o the_o doctrine_n of_o paul_n special_o that_o in_o the_o epistle_n to_o the_o roman_n and_o namely_o in_o that_o disputation_n which_o he_o have_v of_o justification_n in_o the_o 3._o first_o chapter_n against_o the_o jew_n of_o that_o time_n if_o after_o conference_n we_o shall_v find_v that_o our_o assertion_n do_v consent_n with_o paul_n mind_n and_o doctrine_n and_o that_o the_o adversary_n be_v of_o the_o same_o mind_n and_o judgement_n with_o the_o jew_n which_o live_v in_o paul_n time_n than_o it_o shall_v plain_o appear_v that_o our_o judgement_n be_v better_a than_o the_o adversary_n concern_v the_o covenant_n of_o against_o nature_n and_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n and_o for_o christ_n and_o for_o god_n grace_n in_o he_o that_o be_v for_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n for_o the_o doctrine_n of_o antecedent_n and_o against_o justification_n and_o salvation_n of_o man_n which_o be_v according_a to_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n igraunt_a that_o as_o be_v aforesaid_a the_o question_n be_v of_o this_o last_o point_n which_o be_v justification_n but_o this_o question_n include_v all_o the_o former_a branch_n as_o be_v before_o show_v wherefore_o let_v we_o consider_v again_o that_o old_a controversy_n and_o the_o very_a ground_n thereof_o in_o this_o controversy_n by_o the_o way_n note_v how_o great_a the_o time_n the_o state_n and_o blindness_n of_o the_o jew_n in_o paul_n time_n blindness_n be_v say_v for_o these_o thing_n against_o the_o strength_n of_o nature_n the_o liberty_n of_o freewill_n that_o be_v the_o goodness_n and_o holiness_n of_o nature_n against_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n way_n what_o the_o palpable_a blindness_n of_o the_o papist_n be_v in_o this_o clear_a light_n of_o the_o gospel_n blindness_n popish_a blindness_n first_o they_o see_v not_o how_o nature_n be_v appear_v evident_o for_o they_o be_v necessary_a consequent_n of_o that_o theorem_a for_o grant_v we_o this_o that_o the_o scripture_n be_v god_n word_n then_o these_o thing_n must_v follow_v necessary_o first_o that_o it_o be_v most_o ancient_a second_o most_o clear_a three_o most_o simple_a or_o pure_a four_o most_o powerful_a fift_o most_o necessary_a sixth_o most_o perfect_a seventhly_a the_o great_a &_o best_a judge_n of_o all_o controversy_n without_o exception_n eight_o most_o excellent_a but_o for_o as_o much_o as_o the_o adversary_n deny_v these_o eight_o property_n therefore_o as_o be_v a_o foresay_a there_o be_v of_o every_o one_o of_o they_o a_o special_a controversy_n we_o be_v then_o to_o handle_v these_o controversy_n in_o order_n and_o first_o of_o that_o which_o by_o due_a right_n &_o natural_o be_v to_o have_v the_o first_o place_n whether_o the_o scripture_n be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n the_o adversary_n grant_v general_o that_o the_o holy_a scripture_n be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n but_o when_o they_o be_v bring_v from_o the_o general_a to_o a_o special_a they_o break_v from_o us._n to_o speak_v more_o plain_o the_o word_n of_o god_n at_o this_o day_n be_v twofold_a in_o the_o church_n of_o god_n 1._o immediate_a 2._o mediate_a i_o call_v that_o the_o word_n god_n write_v word_n immediate_a word_n of_o god_n which_o do_v proceed_v
