that_o ever_o 17._o be_v command_v you_o say_v you_o we_o be_v unprofitable_a servant_n we_o have_v do_v but_o as_o we_o ought_v to_o do_v you_o see_v that_o although_o we_o have_v perform_v god_n heart_n be_v also_o unclean_a and_o filthy_a and_o consequent_o can_v be_v acceptable_a unto_o god_n nor_o have_v any_o power_n to_o make_v the_o party_n righteous_a therefore_o we_o must_v first_o of_o all_o cleanse_v the_o heart_n if_o we_o mind_v that_o our_o work_n shall_v please_v god_n the_o cleanse_n of_o the_o heart_n proceed_v of_o faith_n as_o the_o holy_a ghost_n affirm_v by_o the_o mouth_n of_o st._n peter_n then_o must_v 15._o we_o not_o say_v that_o the_o unrighteous_a person_n and_o the_o sinner_n become_v righteous_a good_a and_o acceptable_a unto_o god_n by_o his_o own_o work_n but_o we_o must_v of_o necessity_n conclude_v that_o faith_n cleanse_v our_o heart_n and_o make_v we_o good_a righteous_a and_o acceptable_a before_o god_n and_o furthermore_o cause_v our_o work_n to_o please_v he_o notwithstanding_o that_o they_o be_v altogether_o unprofitable_a and_o unperfit_a for_o inasmuch_o as_o we_o be_v become_v the_o child_n of_o god_n through_o faith_n he_o consider_v our_o work_n not_o as_o a_o severe_a and_o rigorous_a judge_n but_o as_o a_o most_o merciful_a father_n have_v pity_n of_o our_o frailness_n and_o regard_v we_o as_o the_o member_n of_o his_o elder_a son_n who_o perfection_n and_o righteousness_n do_v supply_v all_o our_o uncleanness_n and_o imperfection_n which_o be_v not_o lay_v to_o our_o charge_n forsomuch_o as_o they_o be_v cover_v under_o the_o pureness_n and_o innocency_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o come_v not_o to_o judgement_n before_o god_n and_o hereupon_o god_n it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o all_o our_o work_n by_o all_o mean_n seek_v to_o rob_v we_o of_o that_o faith_n and_o confidence_n that_o spring_v of_o faith_n and_o assure_v we_o of_o god_n good_a will_n towards_o us._n he_o labour_v to_o strip_v our_o soul_n out_o of_o this_o precious_a garment_n for_o he_o know_v that_o none_o be_v a_o true_a christian_a except_o he_o believe_v god_n word_n which_o promise_v forgiveness_n of_o all_o sin_n and_o peace_n to_o all_o they_o which_o accept_v the_o grace_n of_o the_o gospel_n very_o i_o say_v that_o he_o which_o upon_o these_o promise_n of_o god_n persuade_v not_o himself_o assure_o that_o god_n be_v a_o merciful_a and_o love_a father_n unto_o he_o nor_o with_o steadfast_a confidence_n look_v to_o receive_v the_o inheritance_n of_o the_o heavenly_a kingdom_n at_o his_o hand_n be_v not_o faithful_a in_o deed_n and_o make_v himself_o utter_o unworthy_a of_o god_n grace_n in_o respect_n whereof_o s._n paul_n say_v that_o we_o be_v the_o temple_n 3_o of_o god_n so_o far_o forth_o as_o and_o he_o be_v the_o atonementmaker_n for_o our_o sin_n let_v we_o bethink_v we_o of_o the_o opinion_n of_o s._n austin_n who_o say_v that_o none_o of_o the_o saint_n be_v righteous_a and_o without_o sin_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o that_o he_o cease_v not_o to_o be_v righteous_a and_o holy_a so_o farforth_o as_o he_o retain_v his_o holiness_n with_o affection_n and_o therefore_o if_o we_o have_v affliction_n reprobation_n and_o tribulation_n let_v we_o not_o think_v that_o god_n send_v they_o because_o he_o be_v our_o enemy_n but_o because_o he_o be_v our_o most_o love_a father_n the_o as_o it_o be_v a_o seal_n of_o authority_n which_o seal_v up_o god_n promise_n in_o our_o heart_n the_o certainty_n whereof_o be_v print_v aforehand_o in_o our_o mind_n and_o be_v give_v we_o as_o a_o pledge_n to_o establish_v and_o confirm_v the_o same_o as_o soon_o as_o you_o believe_v say_v the_o apostle_n s_o paul_n you_o be_v seal_v by_o the_o holy_a spirit_n promise_n of_o promise_n who_o be_v the_o earnest_a penny_n of_o our_o inheritance_n behold_v how_o he_o show_v we_o hereby_o that_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o faithful_a be_v mark_v with_o the_o holy_a ghost_n as_o it_o be_v with_o have_v of_o christ_n spirit_n or_o as_o though_o we_o can_v without_o flat_a hypocrisy_n say_v that_o jesus_n christ_n be_v our_o lord_n or_o call_v god_n our_o father_n if_o the_o holy_a ghost_n move_v not_o our_o heart_n and_o 12._o tongue_n to_o utter_v so_o sweet_a word_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o even_o they_o that_o count_v we_o presumptuous_a for_o say_v that_o god_n have_v give_v who_o can_v lie_v say_v that_o his_o spirit_n be_v unknown_a to_o the_o world_n and_o that_o they_o only_o do_v know_v 14._o he_o within_o who_o he_o dwell_v then_o let_v they_o begin_v to_o become_v good_a christian_n and_o put_v away_o their_o jewish_a mind_n and_o embrace_v the_o grace_n of_o the_o holy_a gospel_n in_o good_a earnest_n and_o then_o shall_v they_o know_v that_o the_o good_a and_o true_a christian_n both_o have_v the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o also_o acknowledge_v themselves_o to_o have_v he_o but_o some_o may_v say_v to_o i_o that_o the_o christian_a can_v by_v any_o mean_n to_o the_o corinthian_n i_o feel_v not_o myself_o 4._o guilty_a of_o any_o thing_n and_o yet_o feel_v i_o not_o myself_o justify_v for_o all_o that_o it_o seem_v to_o be_v favour_n sufficient_o christian_a and_o this_o be_v already_o confirm_v by_o this_o that_o such_o manner_n of_o fearfulness_n be_v utter_o contrary_a to_o the_o spiritual_a cheerfulness_n and_o joy_n which_o be_v peculiar_a to_o the_o christian_a as_o the_o apostle_n s_o paul_n show_v open_o to_o the_o roman_n say_v that_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n be_v righteousness_n and_o peace_n and_o joy_n in_o 14._o the_o holy_a ghost_n that_o be_v to_o say_v that_o every_o man_n which_o enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v become_v righteous_a through_o faith_n and_o
