account_n we_o see_v what_o great_a need_n there_o be_v of_o faith_n in_o our_o receive_v and_o partake_v of_o this_o supper_n again_o there_o be_v great_a need_n of_o faith_n and_o work_v for_o faith_n in_o this_o ordinance_n to_o reconcile_v we_o to_o the_o meanness_n and_o despicableness_n as_o to_o outward_a appearance_n of_o this_o as_o well_o as_o other_o ordinance_n of_o christ_n ordinance_n be_v simple_a in_o appearance_n and_o therefore_o the_o creature_n be_v ready_a to_o carp_v at_o they_o it_o be_v a_o say_v of_o one_o nihil_fw-la adeo_fw-la offendit_fw-la hominum_fw-la mentes_fw-la ac_fw-la simplicitas_fw-la divinorum_fw-la operum_fw-la etc._n etc._n there_o be_v nothing_o do_v so_o much_o offend_v the_o mind_n of_o man_n as_o the_o simplicity_n of_o god_n ordinance_n as_o in_o baptism_n there_o be_v but_o a_o little_a common_a water_n and_o what_o can_v this_o do_v to_o cleanse_v the_o soul_n from_o sin_n so_o in_o the_o lord_n supper_n there_o be_v but_o a_o little_a morsel_n of_o bread_n and_o a_o small_a draught_n of_o wine_n a_o poor_a feast_n to_o a_o carnal_a man._n carnal_a and_o corrupt_a reason_n be_v great_o prejudice_v stumble_v and_o offend_v at_o so_o mean_a and_o despicable_a a_o appearance_n therefore_o see_v the_o need_n of_o faith_n and_o the_o great_a work_n for_o faith_n in_o this_o ordinance_n how_o mean_v and_o despicable_a soever_o these_o may_v seem_v as_o to_o out_o ward_v appearance_n yet_o they_o be_v high_a and_o mysterious_a instrument_n of_o our_o peace_n growth_n and_o comfort_n and_o although_o carnal_a sense_n and_o corrupt_a reason_n can_v see_v it_o yet_o faith_n do_v how_o mean_v soever_o as_o to_o outward_a appearance_n these_o may_v seem_v yet_o faith_n eye_n the_o institution_n and_o blessing_n that_o go_v along_o with_o they_o and_o where_o the_o institution_n of_o christ_n be_v attend_v with_o his_o own_o blessing_n there_o ordinance_n though_o never_o so_o simple_a in_o appearance_n yet_o shall_v become_v effectual_a for_o produce_v great_a effect_n and_o for_o obtain_v high_a and_o glorious_a ends._n last_o there_o be_v great_a need_n of_o faith_n and_o work_v for_o faith_n in_o this_o ordinance_n for_o a_o real_a and_o close_a application_n of_o those_o great_a benefit_n and_o mystery_n that_o be_v represent_v to_o we_o and_o discern_v by_o we_o in_o this_o ordinance_n faith_n be_v not_o only_o the_o spiritual_a eye_n of_o the_o soul_n whereby_o we_o discern_v christ_n crucify_a and_o the_o mystery_n and_o merit_n and_o benefit_n of_o his_o death_n in_o this_o supper_n veil_v under_o the_o outward_a sign_n and_o ellement_n but_o it_o be_v also_o the_o spiritual_a hand_n of_o the_o soul_n whereby_o we_o take_v christ_n his_o merit_n and_o benefit_n offer_v and_o tender_v to_o we_o in_o this_o supper_n and_o apply_v to_o our_o own_o soul_n benefit_n comfort_n and_o advantage_n of_o what_o advantage_n will_v the_o fine_a dainty_n be_v that_o can_v possible_o be_v provide_v for_o nourishment_n and_o refreshment_n if_o not_o feed_v upon_o and_o digest_v by_o we_o or_o the_o most_o excellent_a medicine_n that_o ever_o be_v compound_v of_o what_o advantage_n will_v it_o be_v to_o a_o sick_a person_n for_o health_n and_o recovery_n if_o he_o do_v not_o take_v it_o and_o apply_v it_o so_o of_o no_o more_o avail_v or_o advantage_n will_v christ_n be_v and_o all_o his_o excellent_a benefit_n to_o we_o in_o this_o ordinance_n without_o a_o real_a and_o close_a application_n of_o they_o to_o our_o own_o soul_n unless_o take_v and_o receive_v feed_v upon_o and_o digest_v and_o this_o must_v be_v the_o work_n of_o faith_n to_o take_v and_o eat_v to_o take_v and_o drink_v what_o bread_n and_o wine_n only_o no_o these_o be_v the_o least_o matter_n but_o christ_n body_n and_o blood_n also_o and_o all_o the_o benefit_n thereof_o must_v by_o faith_n be_v take_v and_o receive_v eat_v and_o digest_v to_o our_o spiritual_a nourishment_n and_o growth_n in_o grace_n this_o may_v suffice_v to_o show_v the_o great_a need_n that_o there_o be_v of_o faith_n and_o the_o great_a work_n that_o there_o be_v for_o faith_n in_o our_o partake_n of_o this_o supper_n there_o be_v also_o great_a work_n for_o faith_n after_o our_o receive_n and_o partake_v and_o that_o be_v steadfast_o to_o rely_v upon_o what_o christ_n have_v do_v and_o suffer_v for_o we_o upon_o his_o righteousness_n and_o satisfaction_n upon_o the_o efficacy_n and_o sufficiency_n of_o his_o death_n and_o suffering_n of_o his_o blood_n and_o merit_n all_o which_o have_v be_v in_o a_o most_o lively_a manner_n exhibit_v and_o represent_v to_o we_o in_o this_o supper_n and_o our_o work_n and_o business_n be_v to_o walk_v with_o a_o fiducial_a dependence_n upon_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n in_o every_o act_n and_o duty_n of_o worship_n for_o access_n to_o god_n for_o assistance_n from_o god_n in_o every_o fresh_a perplexity_n of_o mind_n do_v satan_n accuse_v conscience_n accuse_v the_o law_n accuse_v why_o yes_o it_o may_v be_v all_o these_o accuse_v we_o why_o then_o our_o work_n and_o business_n be_v to_o plead_v the_o fullness_n of_o christ_n satisfaction_n and_o the_o sufficiency_n of_o his_o merit_n against_o all_o these_o charge_n and_o accusation_n and_o here_o be_v enough_o in_o this_o righteousness_n and_o satisfaction_n of_o christ_n to_o answer_v all_o and_o the_o great_a work_n of_o faith_n be_v to_o rely_v and_o depend_v upon_o it_o under_o a_o fresh_a sense_n and_o feel_n of_o gild_n we_o be_v
