law_n and_o gospel_n together_o in_o the_o case_n of_o justification_n 6._o if_o by_o grace_n then_o be_v it_o no_o more_o of_o work_n otherwise_o grace_n be_v no_o grace_n but_o if_o it_o be_v of_o necessity_n of_o faith_n and_o regeneration_n sort_n these_o be_v not_o only_o averse_a to_o all_o humane_a innovation_n and_o tradition_n of_o man_n and_o so_o contend_v for_o god_n holy_a a_o seem_a saint_n one_o that_o hear_v sermon_n prays_n and_o give_v alm_n and_o yet_o not_o renew_v nor_o his_o evil_a habit_n change_v o_o it_o be_v no_o easy_a thing_n to_o bring_v he_o once_o to_o doubt_n or_o question_v the_o goodness_n of_o his_o condition_n he_o bless_v god_n for_o that_o help_n he_o have_v have_v to_o change_v his_o former_a course_n of_o life_n god_n i_o thank_v thou_o i_o be_o not_o as_o other_o man_n nor_o as_o this_o publican_n i_o be_v as_o bad_a as_o other_o but_o i_o be_o become_v religious_a now_o i_o be_o no_o swearer_n whoremonger_n drunkard_n extortioner_n etc._n etc._n to_o this_o purpose_n you_o have_v the_o pharisee_fw-mi boast_v and_o praise_v of_o god_n this_o render_v his_o state_n lamentable_a with_o a_o witness_n what_o make_v the_o foolish_a virgin_n so_o bold_a as_o to_o go_v forth_o to_o meet_v the_o bridegroom_n be_v it_o not_o that_o confidence_n they_o have_v that_o their_o condition_n be_v good_a 16._o a_o wise_a man_n say_v solomon_n fear_v and_o depart_v from_o iniquity_n but_o a_o fool_n rage_v and_o be_v confident_a confidence_n be_v oppose_v to_o fear_v so_o that_o this_o sort_n of_o man_n be_v secure_a and_o unsensible_a of_o their_o danger_n till_o it_o be_v too_o late_o as_o in_o the_o case_n of_o the_o foolish_a virgin_n they_o see_v not_o their_o fearful_a state_n till_o the_o midnight_n cry_v be_v hear_v and_o hence_o our_o saviour_n tell_v the_o scribe_n and_o pharisee_n 33._o that_o publican_n and_o harlot_n go_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n before_o they_o which_o full_o confirm_v what_o we_o say_v from_o this_o dark_a scripture_n viz._n that_o open_o profane_a person_n and_o notorious_a sinner_n be_v not_o in_o so_o dangerous_a a_o condition_n as_o a_o false_a professor_n or_o counterfeit_a christian_n who_o have_v pass_v under_o a_o seem_a change_n of_o life_n and_o leave_v the_o gross_a act_n of_o sin_n though_o never_o thorough_o wrought_v upon_o by_o regenerate_a grace_n and_o i_o conclude_v this_o of_o self-confidence_n be_v one_o of_o those_o more_o wicked_a spirit_n that_o be_v now_o enter_v into_o he_o behold_v thou_o be_v call_v a_o jew_n 19_o and_o rest_v in_o the_o law_n and_o make_v thy_o boast_n of_o god_n etc._n etc._n and_o be_v confident_a that_o thou_o thyself_o be_v a_o guide_n of_o the_o blind_a a_o light_n to_o they_o that_o sit_v in_o darkness_n etc._n etc._n thus_o these_o person_n proud_o with_o great_a self-confidence_n arrogate_v all_o wisdom_n and_o knowledge_n to_o themselves_o and_o be_v like_o the_o sluggard_n solomon_n speak_v of_o 16._o i.e._n wise_a in_o their_o own_o conceit_n than_o seven_o man_n that_o can_v render_v a_o reason_n tremble_v you_o who_o fear_v nothing_o who_o conclude_v all_o wisdom_n and_o knowledge_n be_v with_o you_o and_o that_o you_o need_v not_o be_v teach_v more_o than_o you_o already_o know_v some_o man_n though_o open_o profane_a glory_n and_o boast_v of_o their_o church_n and_o christianity_n and_o doubt_v not_o but_o in_o that_o faith_n to_o be_v save_v but_o if_o those_o who_o be_v of_o a_o good_a moral_a life_n and_o zealous_a for_o the_o external_a part_n of_o true_a
