himself_o to_o the_o affection_n &_o desire_n of_o his_o child_n for_o he_o know_v that_o man_n be_v thus_o affect_v that_o they_o will_v take_v pain_n for_o no_o man_n free_o but_o that_o they_o look_v for_o some_o reward_n from_o he_o for_o who_o they_o labour_v and_o so_o that_o he_o may_v make_v his_o child_n diligent_a and_o obedient_a in_o his_o service_n he_o call_v his_o own_o free_a gift_n and_o undeserved_a benefit_n bestow_v upon_o they_o by_o the_o name_n of_o a_o reward_n therefore_o god_n set_v the_o title_n of_o a_o reward_n before_o his_o benefit_n not_o to_o that_o end_n to_o obscure_v the_o praise_n of_o his_o bounty_n or_o any_o way_n to_o diminish_v it_o but_o to_o encourage_v his_o child_n and_o make_v they_o more_o willing_a and_o ready_a to_o the_o sincere_a study_n of_o obedience_n and_o so_o that_o he_o may_v give_v they_o the_o more_o encouragement_n to_o live_v innocent_o he_o cast_v that_o upon_o their_o work_n which_o be_v proper_a to_o his_o own_o free_a goodness_n and_o mercy_n so_o that_o whatsoever_o god_n promise_v or_o perform_v unto_o the_o work_n of_o the_o saint_n he_o do_v it_o not_o for_o the_o perfection_n and_o worthiness_n of_o they_o but_o because_o he_o have_v justify_v they_o and_o perfume_v they_o with_o the_o sweet_a savour_n of_o his_o grace_n for_o he_o justifi_v their_o work_n and_o clease_v they_o from_o all_o the_o perform_v of_o the_o very_o best_a which_o may_v seem_v worthy_a of_o the_o least_o reward_n here_o therefore_o we_o must_v neither_o dream_v of_o any_o relation_n between_o the_o reward_n and_o the_o merit_n nor_o yet_o of_o any_o recompense_n that_o shall_v be_v due_a unto_o us._n moreover_o if_o any_o mortal_a man_n can_v be_v find_v which_o have_v most_o perfect_o fulfil_v the_o law_n in_o before_o it_o be_v learned_a as_o saint_n cyprian_n speak_v elsewhere_o and_o it_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o the_o amend_v and_o abolish_n of_o the_o corrupt_a and_o wicked_a quality_n that_o remain_v in_o the_o substance_n of_o man_n therefore_o who_o god_n have_v justify_v those_o also_o he_o do_v regenerate_v and_o change_v unto_o his_o most_o bless_a glory_n and_o purity_n of_o life_n free_a gift_n of_o god_n why_o the_o scripture_n in_o many_o place_n do_v promise_v a_o reward_n and_o ascribe_v salvation_n unto_o they_o three_o why_o good_a work_n be_v to_o be_v do_v see_v salvation_n be_v by_o no_o mean_n attain_a by_o they_o that_o the_o first_o may_v right_o be_v understand_v we_o must_v know_v that_o the_o work_n of_o man_n by_o reason_n of_o his_o divers_a condition_n be_v diverse_o to_o be_v consider_v for_o we_o must_v judge_v of_o the_o effect_n by_o the_o nature_n and_o condition_n of_o the_o cause_n if_o therefore_o there_o be_v a_o diversity_n find_v in_o the_o cause_n it_o ought_v likewise_o to_o be_v consider_v in_o the_o effect_n for_o one_o and_o the_o selfsame_o thing_n can_v be_v speak_v and_o affirm_v of_o divers_a matter_n and_o of_o unlike_a thing_n the_o judgement_n must_v likewise_o be_v unlike_a therefore_o man_n as_o touch_v his_o nature_n be_v wicked_a and_o untoward_a yea_o and_o so_o wicked_a that_o he_o be_v extreme_o contrary_a unto_o god_n and_o his_o will_n so_o that_o his_o work_n also_o before_o regeneration_n must_v needs_o be_v evil_a for_o from_o a_o evil_a cause_n there_o can_v proceed_v and_o be_v expect_v nothing_o but_o a_o evil_a effect_n because_o the_o effect_n differ_v not_o from_o the_o cause_n so_o that_o these_o work_n be_v worthy_o reject_v of_o god_n as_o worthy_a of_o eternal_a death_n and_o the_o punishment_n thereof_o and_o be_v so_o reject_v be_v most_o just_o condemn_v because_o they_o be_v extreme_o contrary_a unto_o the_o will_n of_o god_n thus_o man_n and_o his_o
