then_o there_o will_v be_v a_o preparednesse_n to_o believe_v any_o lie_n and_o that_o by_o goâ—_n just_a judgement_n 2_o thes_n 2._o 12._o eight_o 8_o as_o these_o fundamental_a truth_n yield_v faith_n for_o howsoever_o it_o be_v that_o repentance_n be_v a_o necessary_a grace_n without_o which_o we_o can_v be_v save_v yet_o notwithstanding_o all_o the_o repentance_n in_o the_o world_n can_v pour_v out_o his_o soul_n unto_o death_n etc._n etc._n now_o the_o great_a extremity_n that_o christ_n suffer_v may_v make_v we_o consider_v of_o two_o thing_n first_o the_o greatness_n of_o our_o sin_n and_o second_o the_o greatness_n of_o god_n mercy_n first_o 1_o we_o may_v consider_v the_o greatness_n of_o our_o sin_n that_o when_o we_o have_v sin_v against_o god_n sin_n nothing_o will_v bring_v we_o into_o favour_n again_o but_o it_o must_v cost_v blood_n and_o the_o blood_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n therefore_o howsoever_o man_n make_v but_o a_o light_a matter_n of_o sin_n yet_o 5._o 8._o but_o god_n set_v out_o his_o love_n towards_o we_o see_v that_o while_o we_o be_v yet_o sinner_n christ_n die_v for_o we_o and_o therefore_o see_v god_n have_v so_o love_v we_o that_o he_o faith_n they_o can_v die_v in_o faith_n for_o this_o be_v the_o true_a use_n of_o faith_n to_o live_v by_o it_o 2._o so_o the_o prophet_n habakuk_n say_v the_o just_a shall_v live_v by_o his_o faith_n 1_o historical_a faith_n be_v what_o when_o a_o man_n believe_v the_o history_n of_o the_o bible_n to_o be_v true_a without_o application_n of_o it_o that_o be_v can_v apply_v the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o the_o comfort_v of_o his_o conscience_n to_o the_o direct_n of_o his_o life_n nor_o to_o the_o humble_v of_o himself_o this_o have_v no_o grace_n in_o it_o it_o be_v no_o work_n of_o god_n but_o it_o arise_v from_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n for_o as_o we_o believe_v other_o story_n so_o also_o we_o may_v believe_v this_o and_o assentunto_o it_o and_o therefore_o no_o grace_n of_o god_n not_o believe_v the_o resurrection_n of_o the_o body_n because_o peter_n or_o paul_n write_v and_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o holy_a man_n but_o true_a faith_n do_v believe_v it_o because_o god_n speak_v it_o so_o that_o true_a faith_n rest_v on_o god_n as_o the_o last_o ground_n so_o 2_o peter_n 1._o 21._o say_v he_o for_o the_o prophecy_n come_v not_o in_o old_a time_n by_o the_o will_n of_o man_n but_o that_o the_o scripture_n be_v true_a so_o that_o it_o do_v not_o arise_v from_o the_o true_a ground_n the_o second_o thing_n that_o historical_a faith_n do_v fail_v in_o faith_n be_v because_o it_o want_v particular_a application_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n it_o do_v assent_v to_o it_o that_o it_o be_v true_a but_o it_o go_v no_o further_o it_o believe_v there_o be_v a_o god_n but_o not_o believe_v he_o be_v a_o god_n to_o he_o it_o believe_v there_o be_v pardon_n of_o sin_n but_o not_o that_o his_o sin_n be_v pardon_v and_o that_o god_n be_v just_a but_o not_o to_o he_o this_o be_v a_o main_a defect_n in_o this_o faith_n it_o do_v not_o apply_v the_o word_n of_o god_n in_o the_o body_n there_o be_v two_o sort_n of_o vein_n some_o of_o they_o be_v suck_v and_o draw_v the_o straightway_o they_o say_v every_o one_o be_v it_o i_o master_n be_v
it_o i_o and_o so_o true_a faith_n do_v apply_v the_o word_n particular_o to_o themselves_o historical_a faith_n do_v not_o so_o but_o be_v like_o the_o apothecary_n boy_n that_o gather_v herb_n and_o simple_n for_o other_o man_n disease_n and_o not_o for_o his_o own_o even_o so_o many_o man_n gather_v good_a thing_n out_o of_o the_o word_n and_o other_o have_v the_o benefit_n of_o it_o and_o in_o part_n and_o there_o be_v also_o some_o unsoundnesse_n leave_v behind_o it_o this_o kind_n of_o faith_n be_v speak_v of_o in_o matthew_n 13._o 20._o it_o be_v say_v to_o be_v the_o stony_a second_o be_v to_o keep_v credit_n with_o the_o world_n they_o will_v not_o be_v count_v odd_a man_n and_o to_o be_v point_v at_o this_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o simon_n magus_n act._n 8._o believe_v become_v a_o great_a man_n in_o the_o world_n because_o he_o will_v not_o be_v point_v at_o or_o count_v a_o odd_a man_n the_o three_o cause_n be_v worldly_a ease_n and_o benefit_n there_o be_v
