thus_o much_o then_o for_o the_o moral_a precept_n and_o with_o what_o difference_n they_o be_v command_v in_o the_o old_a and_o new_a covenant_n 35._o in_o the_o second_o place_n there_o be_v another_o part_n of_o evangelical_n obedience_n which_o be_v pure_o evangelical_n and_o which_o have_v no_o commerce_n nor_o reference_n at_o all_o to_o the_o law_n and_o that_o be_v the_o grace_n of_o repentance_n for_o say_v st._n paul_n 30._o act._n 17_o 30._o act._n 17.30_o but_o now_o that_o be_v by_o the_o gospel_n god_n command_v all_o man_n every_o where_o to_o repent_v now_o repentance_n imply_v a_o serious_a consideration_n and_o acknowledgement_n of_o that_o miserable_a estate_n whereunto_o our_o sin_n have_v bring_v we_o and_o hereupon_o a_o hearty_a unfeigned_a sorrow_n for_o they_o a_o perfect_a hatred_n and_o detestation_n of_o they_o infer_v a_o full_a peremptory_a resolution_n to_o break_v they_o off_o and_o interrupt_v the_o course_n of_o they_o by_o new_a obedience_n this_o i_o say_v be_v a_o obedience_n pure_o evangelical_n the_o law_n of_o work_n do_v not_o at_o all_o meddle_v with_o it_o neither_o indeed_o can_v it_o the_o law_n condemn_v a_o man_n assoon_o as_o ever_o he_o be_v guilty_a of_o the_o breach_n thereof_o and_o make_v no_o promise_n at_o all_o of_o remission_n of_o sin_n upon_o repentance_n but_o rather_o quite_o exclude_v it_o yet_o from_o the_o grace_n of_o repentance_n we_o may_v gather_v a_o forcible_a argument_n to_o make_v good_a that_o which_o before_o we_o speak_v concern_v the_o renew_n of_o the_o moral_a precept_n in_o the_o new_a covenant_n for_o no_o reasonable_a man_n can_v deny_v that_o repentance_n be_v absolute_o necessary_a before_o a_o man_n can_v be_v justify_v now_o what_o be_v that_o for_o which_o for_o example_n a_o new_a convert_v heathen_a repent_v but_o the_o breach_n of_o the_o moral_a law_n therefore_o by_o this_o necessity_n of_o repentance_n he_o acknowledge_v and_o so_o do_v we_o that_o by_o such_o sin_n he_o be_v exclude_v from_o all_o hope_n of_o be_v justify_v now_o it_o be_v absurd_a for_o a_o man_n to_o say_v that_o any_o thing_n exclude_v a_o man_n from_o be_v capable_a of_o receive_v the_o promise_n of_o a_o covenant_n but_o only_o the_o break_n of_o the_o condition_n thereof_o 36._o the_o three_o part_n of_o evangelical_n righteousness_n be_v faith_n not_o moral_a but_o christian_a which_o be_v a_o rely_v upon_o christ_n as_o the_o only_a meritorious_a cause_n of_o whatsoever_o benefit_n we_o obtain_v by_o the_o new_a covenant_n it_o be_v for_o his_o sake_n both_o that_o god_n bestow_v upon_o we_o grace_n whereby_o we_o be_v enable_v to_o perform_v his_o will_n and_o after_o we_o have_v do_v our_o duty_n that_o he_o will_v free_o and_o not_o as_o wage_n bestow_v upon_o we_o the_o reward_n thereof_o there_o be_v another_o virtue_n evangelical_n which_o be_v hope_n but_o of_o that_o i_o must_v speak_v in_o my_o last_o point_n and_o thus_o i_o have_v go_v through_o the_o condition_n require_v on_o man_n part_n in_o the_o new_a covenant_n all_o which_o i_o suppose_v be_v employ_v in_o this_o word_n faith_n which_o be_v take_v in_o so_o general_a a_o sense_n may_v i_o conceive_v be_v thus_o not_o improper_o define_v viz._n to_o be_v a_o receive_n and_o embrace_v of_o the_o promise_v make_v unto_o we_o in_o christ_n upon_o the_o term_n and_o condition_n propose_v in_o the_o gospel_n 37._o now_o follow_v the_o condition_n on_o god_n part_n comprehend_v in_o these_o word_n the_o hope_n of_o righteousness_n which_o be_v equivalent_a to_o the_o term_n of_o justification_n the_o nature_n whereof_o i_o shall_v now_o endeavour_v to_o discover_v justification_n i_o suppose_v import_v the_o whole_a treasure_n of_o blessing_n and_o favour_n which_o god_n who_o be_v rich_a in_o mercy_n will_v free_o bestow_v on_o those_o who_o he_o accept_v as_o righteous_a for_o his_o belove_a son_n our_o bless_a saviour_n jesus_n christ_n his_o sake_n which_o be_v first_o remission_n of_o sin_n and_o a_o interest_n unto_o the_o joy_n of_o heaven_n in_o this_o life_n and_o a_o full_a consummation_n both_o of_o grace_n and_o glory_n in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v some_o i_o know_v think_v that_o s._n paul_n when_o he_o discourse_n of_o justification_n thereby_o intend_v only_a remission_n of_o sin_n and_o the_o ground_n of_o this_o opinion_n be_v david_n describe_v the_o blessedness_n of_o the_o man_n unto_o who_o god_n impute_v righteousness_n without_o work_n say_v bless_a be_v they_o who_o unrighteousness_n be_v forgive_v and_o who_o sin_n be_v cover_v blessed_n be_v the_o man_n unto_o who_o the_o lord_n will_v not_o impute_v sin_n but_o if_o this_o argument_n out_o of_o the_o
