infinite_a joy_n and_o delight_n solace_n themselves_o for_o ever_o in_o he_o and_o thus_o shall_v glorify_v saint_n also_o live_v for_o ever_o in_o heaven_n their_o body_n shall_v no_o more_o stand_v in_o need_n or_o make_v use_n of_o any_o earthly_a supply_n as_o food_n physic_n raiment_n nor_o shall_v their_o soul_n express_v any_o more_o desire_n to_o or_o long_n after_o any_o create_a thing_n their_o grace_n or_o glory_n and_o so_o be_v make_v more_o and_o more_o like_a unto_o christ_n by_o the_o vision_n they_o shall_v there_o have_v of_o he_o no_o this_o be_v a_o saint_n work_v and_o employment_n here_o on_o earth_n whilst_o he_o behold_v christ_n only_o by_o a_o eye_n of_o faith_n in_o the_o glass_n of_o duty_n and_o ordinance_n thus_o to_o be_v change_v into_o his_o image_n from_o glory_n to_o glory_n but_o this_o sight_n of_o christ_n shall_v vanish_v away_o in_o heaven_n and_o the_o saint_n shall_v have_v a_o immediate_a vision_n of_o god_n and_o christ_n and_o their_o soul_n shall_v thereby_o be_v change_v into_o a_o exact_a and_o perfect_a conformity_n unto_o the_o image_n of_o christ_n it_o shall_v not_o then_o be_v from_o glory_n to_o glory_n from_o one_o be_v a_o happy_a soul_n neither_o on_o earth_n nor_o in_o heaven_n ignorant_a person_n be_v look_v upon_o with_o pity_n and_o contempt_n that_o the_o soul_n be_v without_o knowledge_n say_v the_o scripture_n call_v the_o excellency_n of_o knowledge_n so_o say_v the_o apostle_n philip._n 3.9_o i_o count_v all_o thing_n but_o loss_n and_o dung_n for_o the_o excellency_n of_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n jesus_n my_o lord_n and_o john_n 17.2_o this_o be_v life_n eternal_a to_o know_v thou_o the_o only_a true_a god_n and_o jesus_n christ_n who_o thou_o have_v send_v this_o be_v above_o the_o reach_n of_o our_o understanding_n to_o comprehend_v the_o depth_n of_o those_o mystery_n of_o wisdom_n grace_n and_o love_n that_o be_v contain_v in_o they_o but_o in_o heaven_n our_o capacity_n shall_v be_v enlarge_v to_o take_v in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o these_o high_a and_o glorious_a object_n in_o heaven_n god_n will_v take_v off_o the_o veil_n from_o his_o face_n that_o we_o may_v see_v he_o face_n to_o face_n and_o not_o only_o so_o but_o will_v strengthen_v we_o that_o we_o may_v be_v able_a to_o look_v upon_o and_o behold_v his_o glory_n and_o excellency_n which_o otherwise_o will_v astonish_v and_o confound_v we_o there_o shall_v we_o see_v the_o bless_a lord_n jesus_n who_o for_o our_o sake_n be_v for_o a_o little_a while_n make_v a_o little_a low_o than_o wise_a and_o before_o see_v author_n of_o they_o god_n fit_v and_o adapt_v unto_o the_o several_a time_n place_n person_n and_o occurrence_n for_o which_o they_o be_v intend_v chief_o to_o be_v use_v we_o shall_v then_o plain_o see_v not_o only_o a_o reconcileableness_n but_o a_o friendship_n and_o perfect_a harmony_n between_o those_o sacred_a text_n in_o holy_a writ_n that_o seem_v most_o to_o jar_n and_o be_v at_o great_a variance_n yea_o there_o shall_v we_o discover_v not_o only_o the_o meaning_n of_o the_o most_o dark_a and_o obscure_a passage_n of_o that_o sacred_a book_n but_o how_o those_o riddle_n of_o divine_a providence_n shall_v be_v expound_v and_o lay_v open_a before_o we_o which_o have_v make_v not_o only_o wicked_a man_n to_o deny_v but_o tempt_v even_o good_a man_n themselves_o sometime_o to_o call_v in_o question_n the_o infinite_a and_o unerring_a wisdom_n of_o the_o great_a god_n in_o his_o government_n of_o the_o world_n when_o they_o behold_v wicked_a and_o ungodly_a man_n to_o prosper_v grow_v rich_a and_o great_a have_v all_o their_o heart_n can_v wish_v whilst_o upright_a and_o righteous_a one_o be_v continual_o expose_v to_o poverty_n reproach_n and_o contempt_n there_o shall_v we_o be_v full_o convince_v that_o all_o these_o seem_a irregularity_n be_v not_o only_o consistent_a with_o god_n justice_n and_o goodness_n but_o be_v the_o wise_a heaven_n it_o will_v appear_v to_o be_v as_o high_o rational_a as_o now_o we_o find_v it_o to_o be_v hard_a and_o difficult_a man_n of_o himself_o be_v no_o fit_a judge_n of_o the_o providence_n of_o god_n at_o any_o time_n but_o especial_o not_o in_o this_o world_n because_o he_o can_v see_v the_o whole_a of_o his_o providential_a working_n at_o once_o his_o day_n as_o job_n speak_v be_v but_o as_o a_o shadow_n upon_o earth_n and_o they_o fly_v away_o so_o that_o he_o can_v see_v but_o little_a of_o what_o god_n be_v do_v but_o when_o we_o come_v to_o heaven_n the_o whole_a conduct_n of_o god_n providence_n in_o the_o administration_n of_o affair_n in_o the_o world_n shall_v be_v lay_v open_a to_o our_o view_n then_o shall_v all_o the_o revolution_n and_o occurrence_n of_o empire_n state_n
without_o any_o satiety_n or_o weariness_n here_o on_o earth_n they_o be_v often_o start_v aside_o to_o the_o creature_n with_o a_o inordinate_a love_n and_o delight_n but_o in_o heaven_n there_o shall_v be_v a_o eternal_a fixedness_n of_o soul_n with_o infinite_a complacency_n and_o delight_n in_o god_n here_o our_o affection_n be_v under_o great_a irregularity_n to_o instance_n in_o two_o brief_o and_o they_o be_v the_o affection_n of_o love_n and_o joy_n as_o to_o the_o affection_n of_o love_n it_o be_v well_o know_v unto_o all_o what_o be_v a_o christian_n command_a duty_n namely_o to_o love_v the_o lord_n our_o god_n with_o all_o our_o heart_n with_o all_o our_o soul_n with_o all_o our_o mind_n and_o with_o all_o our_o strength_n and_o this_o love_n to_o god_n operate_a by_o love_n to_o our_o neighbour_n be_v so_o acceptable_a a_o duty_n that_o it_o be_v call_v by_o the_o apostle_n the_o fulfil_n of_o the_o law_n but_o alas_o how_o do_v the_o best_a of_o god_n servant_n fall_v short_a in_o this_o respect_n when_o all_o they_o attain_v to_o be_v only_o to_o love_n god_n in_o sincerity_n and_o with_o some_o degree_n of_o prevalency_n above_o all_o other_o enjoyment_n but_o to_o love_n god_n so_o as_o to_o desire_v he_o so_o as_o to_o rejoice_v and_o delight_v in_o he_o above_o all_o other_o thing_n with_o the_o utmost_a extremity_n of_o love_n and_o affection_n in_o perpetuity_n and_o constancy_n oh_o where_o be_v the_o soul_n that_o can_v be_v find_v that_o do_v sol_fw-mi vain_a and_o foolish_a yea_o sinful_a object_n also_o entangle_v our_o affection_n and_o draw_v away_o our_o heart_n from_o god_n to_o a_o overloving_a and_o delight_v in_o they_o and_o to_o a_o impair_n and_o weaken_n of_o our_o love_n and_o affection_n towards_o god_n how_o often_o do_v we_o meet_v with_o such_o complaint_n as_o these_o in_o the_o mouth_n of_o god_n people_n oh_o that_o we_o can_v love_v god_n more_o oh_o that_o we_o can_v love_v christ_n more_o but_o alas_o we_o can_v their_o faith_n discover_v to_o they_o a_o wonderful_a amiableness_n in_o god_n and_o christ_n which_o draw_v out_o the_o desire_n of_o their_o soul_n after_o they_o so_o say_v the_o apostle_n to_o you_o that_o believe_v he_o be_v precious_a or_o desirable_a but_o yet_o they_o find_v they_o can_v love_v god_n as_o they_o ought_v nor_o as_o they_o desire_v to_o do_v for_o by_o reason_n of_o that_o earthliness_n that_o be_v still_o in_o they_o their_o heart_n and_o affection_n be_v divide_v and_o carry_v out_o after_o other_o object_n so_o that_o as_o the_o apostle_n complain_v they_o can_v do_v the_o thing_n that_o they_o will_v but_o now_o in_o heaven_n these_o complaint_n shall_v cease_v and_o all_o the_o disorder_n and_o irregularity_n of_o the_o affection_n shall_v be_v cure_v and_o the_o soul_n shall_v perfect_o and_o everlasting_o love_n god_n and_o contemplate_v the_o excellency_n and_o perfection_n that_o be_v in_o he_o with_o unspeakable_a delight_n and_o satisfaction_n for_o where_o ever_o there_o be_v the_o act_n of_o these_o affection_n it_o always_o carry_v much_o pleasure_n and_o delight_n along_o with_o it_o especial_o where_o the_o object_n belove_v be_v deserve_v and_o the_o affection_n be_v strong_a towards_o it_o now_o in_o heaven_n the_o object_n be_v most_o deserve_a to_o be_v belove_v for_o it_o be_v the_o ever_o bless_a god_n and_o the_o affection_n of_o the_o soul_n will_v be_v strong_a for_o there_o love_n shall_v be_v in_o its_o height_n and_o perfection_n and_o that_o which_o result_v from_o hence_o must_v be_v infinite_a satisfaction_n and_o delight_n unto_o the_o soul_n so_o that_o it_o can_v choose_v but_o it_o must_v love_v god_n there_o holy_a soul_n shall_v have_v continual_a view_n of_o the_o perfect_a beauty_n of_o he_o who_o be_v altogether_o lovely_a yea_o who_o be_v love_n itself_o the_o sight_n of_o who_o will_v not_o only_o wonderful_o draw_v their_o heart_n and_o affection_n towards_o he_o but_o fill_v their_o soul_n with_o continual_a ravishment_n of_o love_n and_o joy_n in_o he_o so_o that_o it_o be_v impossible_a they_o shall_v do_v otherwise_o than_o rejoice_v and_o joy_n which_o be_v another_o affection_n of_o the_o soul_n how_o irregular_o do_v it_o frequent_o act_n we_o rejoice_v when_o we_o shall_v mourn_v and_o we_o mourn_v when_o we_o shall_v rejoice_v or_o if_o not_o so_o yet_o we_o often_o exceed_v in_o our_o joy_n and_o delight_n common_o it_o be_v with_o we_o in_o our_o enjoyment_n of_o the_o world_n as_o it_o be_v with_o we_o in_o our_o loss_n in_o the_o world_n when_o we_o lose_v the_o comfort_n of_o the_o world_n we_o over_o grieve_v and_o be_v cast_v down_o so_o excessive_o as_o if_o we_o have_v nothing_o leave_v to_o take_v any_o delight_n or_o comfort_n in_o and_o just_o so_o be_v it_o with_o we_o in_o our_o enjoyment_n of_o the_o world_n when_o god_n bless_v we_o with_o outward_a comfort_n we_o overlove_v and_o delight_v in_o they_o so_o that_o that_o which_o god_n give_v we_o to_o draw_v our_o heart_n near_o to_o himself_o by_o the_o excess_n of_o our_o joy_n and_o delight_n in_o they_o takes_z away_o our_o heart_n more_o from_o he_o insomuch_o that_o we_o be_v more_o forgetful_a of_o god_n by_o our_o inordinate_a rejoice_n in_o what_o he_o bestow_v upon_o we_o a_o very_a evil_n and_o ungrateful_a return_n unto_o god_n for_o his_o kindness_n to_o we_o but_o yet_o it_o be_v that_o which_o we_o be_v very_o inclinable_a unto_o hence_o therefore_o be_v it_o that_o we_o be_v so_o often_o caution_v against_o all_o excessive_a thing_n than_o be_v due_a to_o they_o that_o it_o be_v almost_o necessary_a to_o lay_v a_o command_n upon_o they_o not_o to_o love_v the_o world_n at_o all_o such_o a_o proneness_n be_v there_o in_o the_o best_a of_o christian_n to_o transgress_v when_o any_o allowance_n be_v give_v unto_o these_o carnal_a heart_n and_o affection_n of_o we_o towards_o worldly_a enjoyment_n it_o be_v true_a a_o believer_n be_v not_o only_o allow_v but_o command_v to_o rejoice_v yea_o and_o to_o rejoice_v always_o and_o none_o have_v more_o cause_n so_o to_o do_v than_o he_o but_o it_o be_v not_o in_o the_o person_n or_o thing_n of_o this_o world_n but_o in_o god_n so_o run_v the_o command_n 1_o thes_n 5._o rejoice_v always_o in_o the_o lord_n and_o again_o i_o say_v rejoice_v but_o yet_o all_o rejoice_n in_o outward_a enjoyment_n be_v not_o forbid_v he_o neither_o a_o christian_a who_o be_v accept_v of_o god_n may_v as_o the_o wise_a man_n speak_v eat_v his_o bread_n with_o joy_n and_o drink_v his_o wine_n with_o a_o merry_a heart_n eccles_n 4.7_o that_o be_v he_o may_v rejoice_v and_o be_v cheerful_a in_o the_o use_n of_o those_o comfort_n and_o refreshment_n that_o god_n bestow_v upon_o he_o but_o yet_o in_o the_o great_a abundance_n of_o they_o his_o moderation_n ought_v to_o be_v know_v unto_o all_o man_n and_o still_o he_o must_v rejoice_v in_o they_o as_o if_o he_o rejoice_v not_o bound_n and_o limit_n that_o god_n allow_v they_o let_v out_o their_o heart_n and_o affection_n inordinate_o towards_o they_o but_o now_o in_o heaven_n these_o delightful_a affection_n of_o the_o soul_n shall_v be_v regulate_v a_o saint_n joy_v there_o shall_v be_v always_o right_o place_v and_o due_o bound_v god_n will_v there_o be_v the_o only_a object_n of_o our_o joy_n and_o the_o right_a bound_a of_o our_o joy_n
and_o a_o part_n of_o the_o happiness_n thereof_o as_o every_o thing_n that_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n can_v desire_v or_o imagine_v that_o be_v true_o excellent_a do_v make_v up_o the_o happiness_n of_o that_o bless_a state_n but_o that_o which_o chief_o constitute_v heaven_n be_v holiness_n there_o be_v a_o holy_a god_n there_o be_v a_o holy_a place_n there_o be_v holy_a company_n and_o society_n yea_o every_o thing_n that_o be_v holy_a and_o nothing_o but_o what_o be_v holy_a there_o it_o be_v that_o holy_a soul_n shall_v be_v for_o ever_o unite_v to_o a_o holy_a god_n by_o a_o continual_a fervour_n of_o holy_a love_n there_o it_o be_v that_o they_o shall_v always_o holy_o depend_v upon_o god_n by_o holy_a and_o heavenly_a act_n of_o faith_n and_o hope_n there_o it_o be_v that_o they_o shall_v eternal_o obey_v god_n with_o a_o holy_a joy_n and_o delight_n and_o all_o this_o with_o the_o same_o holy_a love_n faith_n hope_n and_o joy_n which_o they_o do_v put_v forth_o towards_o god_n here_o upon_o earth_n only_o in_o heaven_n these_o grace_n shall_v be_v advance_v and_o exalt_v above_o all_o those_o imperfection_n and_o frailty_n that_o in_o this_o life_n do_v that_o holy_a place_n second_o holiness_n be_v a_o necessary_a qualification_n for_o heaven_n because_o without_o it_o there_o be_v no_o suitableness_n between_o we_o and_o heaven_n all_o true_a soul_n in_o heaven_n but_o to_o admire_v and_o adore_v to_o bless_v and_o praise_v and_o with_o pleasure_n and_o delight_n to_o love_n and_o serve_v god_n for_o ever_o this_o be_v that_o joyful_a work_n wherein_o saint_n and_o angle_n shall_v spend_v a_o eternity_n in_o and_o can_v thou_o o_o profane_a sinner_n who_o have_v all_o thy_o life_n time_n accustom_v thyself_o to_o wallow_v in_o not_o only_o take_v no_o delight_n in_o the_o practice_n of_o holiness_n but_o unto_o who_o the_o thought_n of_o it_o be_v grievous_a and_o burdensome_a who_o be_v so_o far_o from_o keep_v up_o in_o their_o mind_n constant_a meditation_n of_o holy_a thing_n accompany_v with_o strong_a and_o lively_a affection_n towards_o they_o that_o they_o know_v no_o task_n or_o burden_n so_o heavy_a upon_o they_o nor_o so_o affictive_a to_o they_o nor_o that_o they_o undertake_v so_o unwilling_o as_o the_o duty_n of_o holiness_n and_o obedience_n oh_o what_o a_o trouble_n to_o they_o be_v it_o sometime_o to_o be_v draw_v though_o but_o to_o the_o external_a performance_n of_o holy_a duty_n witness_v their_o so_o seldom_o engage_v in_o they_o with_o their_o so_o slight_a and_o careless_a management_n of_o they_o if_o i_o shall_v now_o inquire_v what_o be_v the_o reason_n of_o all_o this_o why_o true_o that_o which_o lie_v at_o the_o bottom_n of_o all_o be_v a_o unholy_a heart_n a_o unsanctified_a nature_n and_o what_o will_v such_o as_o these_o do_v in_o heaven_n will_v not_o that_o holy_a place_n be_v a_o hell_n rather_o than_o a_o heaven_n to_o they_o a_o place_n of_o torment_n rather_o than_o a_o place_n of_o happiness_n it_o be_v that_o place_n where_o saint_n and_o angel_n spend_v a_o eternity_n in_o the_o most_o holy_a fix_a contemplation_n and_o most_o ardent_a love_n of_o god_n and_o sure_o they_o that_o can_v bear_v the_o weak_a and_o imperfect_a holiness_n of_o the_o people_n of_o god_n here_o without_o rail_v at_o it_o as_o a_o piece_n of_o unnecessary_a and_o peevish_a preciseness_n will_v never_o be_v able_a to_o bear_v that_o perfect_a spotless_a holiness_n that_o be_v in_o heaven_n in_o
this_o world_n wicked_a man_n at_o once_o both_o vex_v and_o laugh_v at_o the_o purity_n and_o holiness_n of_o the_o saint_n inward_o they_o vex_v and_o fret_v at_o it_o though_o outward_o in_o their_o speech_n and_o countenance_n they_o laugh_v and_o deride_v it_o yea_o and_o to_o some_o it_o be_v though_o it_o be_v a_o devilish_a contentment_n to_o they_o that_o they_o can_v reproach_v the_o defect_n of_o the_o godly_a shall_v such_o as_o these_o enter_v heaven_n while_o they_o be_v such_o heaven_n will_v be_v a_o place_n of_o exact_a torture_n and_o torment_n to_o they_o because_o summons_n to_o the_o public_a service_n of_o god_n be_v as_o unacceptable_a as_o their_o pass_a bell_n that_o cry_n when_o will_v the_o sabbath_n be_v go_v and_o the_o ordinance_n be_v over_o what_o will_v you_o do_v in_o heaven_n or_o what_o can_v such_o unholy_a heart_n as_o you_o do_v there_o where_o a_o sabbath_n shall_v not_o be_v bare_o as_o long_o as_o a_o day_n or_o a_o week_n or_o a_o year_n but_o as_o long_o as_o eternity_n itself_o where_o there_o shall_v be_v nothing_o but_o a_o continual_a performance_n of_o holy_a duty_n and_o service_n without_o so_o much_o as_o one_o spare_a minute_n or_o a_o vain_a thought_n or_o a_o idle_a word_n for_o ever_o where_o whatsoever_o you_o shall_v hear_v see_v or_o converse_v with_o shall_v be_v all_o holy_a and_o let_v i_o add_v this_o by_o how_o much_o the_o more_o perfect_a the_o holiness_n of_o heaven_n be_v than_o what_o the_o holiness_n of_o the_o saint_n here_o on_o earth_n be_v by_o so_o much_o the_o more_o irksome_a and_o holy_a and_o spiritual_a and_o so_o be_v the_o reward_n of_o heaven_n a_o holy_a and_o spiritual_a reward_n and_o it_o lie_v chief_o in_o two_o thing_n both_o of_o they_o unsuitable_a to_o a_o wicked_a and_o carnal_a heart_n one_o be_v a_o clear_a and_o constant_a vision_n of_o the_o great_a and_o bless_a god_n and_o the_o other_o be_v a_o unconceivable_a entireness_n of_o communion_n and_o fellowship_n with_o he_o now_o of_o all_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n these_o be_v the_o thing_n which_o as_o unboly_n person_n be_v unacquainted_a with_o so_o of_o all_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n they_o can_v endure_v to_o speak_v of_o each_o of_o these_o brief_o first_o for_o the_o reward_n of_o heaven_n that_o consist_v in_o a_o clear_a constant_a vision_n of_o the_o great_a god_n this_o a_o sinner_n can_v bear_v nothing_o be_v more_o terrible_a to_o a_o guilty_a sinner_n than_o the_o sight_n of_o a_o righteous_a and_o holy_a god_n the_o scripture_n acquaint_v we_o that_o many_o of_o god_n own_o people_n have_v have_v dreadful_a apprehension_n of_o god_n upon_o some_o though_o but_o restrain_v discovery_n that_o he_o have_v be_v please_v to_o make_v of_o himself_o unto_o they_o heaven_n in_o self_n the_o fullness_n and_o perfection_n of_o the_o saint_n happiness_n be_v that_o there_o they_o shall_v be_v for_o ever_o with_o the_o lord_n now_o these_o spiritual_a and_o
