which_o do_v good_a work_n do_v many_o thing_n which_o be_v sin_n in_o themselves_o and_o so_o deserve_v to_o be_v out_v of_o god_n favour_n deut._n 27.26_o 4._o because_o there_o be_v not_o that_o degree_n of_o goodness_n in_o these_o good_a work_n that_o proceed_v from_o the_o saint_n which_o ought_v to_o be_v or_o as_o god_n require_v 2._o though_o they_o be_v perfect_a yet_o be_v they_o be_v mere_a hypocrisy_n but_o it_o be_v far_o otherwise_o with_o the_o regenerate_v 3._o as_o the_o work_n of_o the_o unregenerate_a proceed_v not_o from_o the_o right_a cause_n so_o be_v they_o not_o refer_v to_o the_o chief_a end_n which_o be_v god_n glory_n but_o in_o both_o these_o the_o work_n of_o the_o regenerate_v be_v right_o and_o true_o qualify_v though_o the_o work_n of_o the_o most_o regenerate_v yea_o his_o best_a work_n be_v good_a only_o in_o part_n not_o perfect_o because_o he_o be_v not_o whole_o spirit_n and_o no_o flesh_n yet_o god_n approve_v of_o they_o and_o therefore_o we_o must_v again_o consider_v good_a work_v two_o way_n viz._n 1._o in_o themselves_o as_o they_o be_v compare_v with_o the_o law_n and_o the_o rigour_n thereof_o and_o so_o they_o be_v sin_n because_o they_o answer_v not_o to_o that_o perfection_n which_o the_o law_n require_v for_o there_o be_v two_o degree_n of_o sin_n viz._n 1._o rebellion_n which_o be_v action_n flat_o against_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n which_o be_v over_o and_o above_o some_o general_a work_n of_o god_n providence_n that_o all_o man_n taste_v of_o now_o though_o there_o be_v sufficiency_n in_o christ_n to_o may_v be_v a_o true_a and_o so_o a_o save_v faith_n yet_o if_o this_o small_a measure_n of_o faith_n be_v not_o edge_v on_o with_o a_o long_a fervency_n after_o fullness_n of_o persuasion_n and_o second_v with_o a_o assiduous_a serious_a endeavour_n after_o more_o perfection_n it_o be_v no_o sound_n and_o save_a faith_n but_o only_o a_o counterfeit_a show_n or_o deceive_a shadow_n the_o least_o assent_n to_o the_o least_o belief_n of_o the_o promise_n so_o it_o be_v sufficient_a to_o overbalance_n the_o scale_n of_o doubt_v which_o be_v call_v the_o least_o degree_n of_o faith_n bring_v we_o to_o christ_n and_o make_v we_o willing_a to_o take_v he_o and_o be_v faith_n though_o it_o come_v not_o to_o the_o full_a degree_n though_o it_o have_v some_o doubt_v some_o fear_n and_o afterward_o we_o shall_v be_v more_o full_o and_o better_a persuade_v which_o add_v to_o the_o degree_n for_o faith_n though_o it_o be_v mingle_v with_o some_o doubt_n and_o fear_n may_v be_v effectual_a though_o not_o perfect_a for_o there_o be_v a_o doubt_v mingle_v with_o the_o best_a faith_n so_o it_o be_v but_o such_o a_o doubt_v as_o do_v not_o overcome_v it_o may_v stand_v with_o true_a and_o sound_a faith_n if_o a_o man_n have_v so_o take_v christ_n that_o still_o he_o be_v grow_v still_o his_o faith_n be_v prevail_v still_o overcome_v these_o doubt_n and_o fear_n from_o day_n to_o day_n he_o be_v better_a and_o better_o resolve_v if_o it_o be_v thus_o still_o on_o the_o grow_a hand_n it_o be_v a_o save_v and_o effectual_a faith_n yea_o it_o be_v not_o faith_n last_o the_o corruption_n can_v but_o break_v
and_o tradition_n be_v ordinary_o better_o observe_v and_o more_o regard_v than_o this_o commandment_n of_o god_n the_o people_n indeed_o will_v rather_o go_v to_o church_n then_o to_o work_v but_o to_o carnal_a delight_n and_o recreation_n rather_o then_o either_o forget_v the_o memento_n wherewith_o the_o lord_n more_o special_o command_v as_o well_o due_a preparation_n before_o as_o unsophisticate_a performance_n in_o the_o actual_a celebration_n of_o this_o holy_a of_o day_n such_o as_o make_v no_o conscience_n to_o take_v the_o lord_n day_n from_o he_o be_v spiritual_a thief_n
