kind_n of_o sinner_n the_o four_o commandment_n the_o four_o commandment_n require_v that_o we_o walk_v those_o way_n that_o it_o have_v please_v god_n to_o lay_v forth_o to_o bring_v we_o to_o this_o worship_n before_o describe_v but_o the_o piece_n of_o scripture_n that_o belong_v thereunto_o may_v be_v divide_v into_o three_o principal_a part_n the_o first_o to_o be_v the_o commandment_n itself_o of_o the_o seven_o day_n rest_n the_o second_o the_o concession_n or_o allowance_n of_o six_o day_n work_v the_o third_o and_o last_o by_o what_o reason_n he_o persuade_v we_o to_o keep_v this_o rest_n as_o touch_v the_o commaundemet_v itself_o we_o have_v to_o consider_v somewhat_o otherwise_o then_o in_o the_o other_o first_o what_o it_o require_v than_o what_o it_o forbid_v it_o require_v first_o one_o branch_n that_o here_o be_v name_v then_o also_o the_o root_n and_o whatsoever_o other_o branch_n come_v out_o of_o the_o same_o the_o branch_n be_v no_o more_o but_o this_o that_o we_o keep_v remembrance_n holy_a the_o seven_o day_n rest_v from_o our_o usual_a labour_n therein_o the_o root_n be_v to_o be_v godly_a mind_v or_o to_o have_v a_o unfeigned_a and_o a_o earnest_a desire_n to_o attain_v to_o this_o worship_n before_o describe_v and_o so_o thorough_o to_o be_v sanctify_v by_o the_o gracious_a work_n of_o god_n in_o we_o that_o every_o day_n more_o &_o more_o we_o may_v cease_v from_o our_o own_o natural_a work_v which_o ever_o be_v naught_o and_o be_v occupy_v in_o his_o that_o so_o we_o may_v worship_v he_o aright_o the_o other_o branch_n that_o do_v grow_v out_o of_o his_o root_n be_v many_o and_o diverse_a first_o such_o as_o do_v appertain_v to_o the_o keep_v holy_a or_o right_a use_n of_o the_o sabbath_n day_n beside_o that_o other_o which_o be_v already_o set_v down_o as_o namely_o to_o spend_v the_o whole_a sabbath_n day_n either_o in_o public_a exercise_n as_o in_o ordinary_a service_n or_o sermon_n or_o in_o private_a meditaion_n examine_v in_o what_o case_n we_o be_v and_o lift_v up_o our_o heart_n unto_o god_n in_o thanksgiving_n or_o prayer_n as_o occasion_n be_v offer_v and_o prescribe_v to_o ourselves_o whatsoever_o be_v of_o we_o to_o be_v do_v or_o in_o such_o other_o work_v of_o charity_n as_o by_o just_a occasion_n we_o shall_v be_v at_o any_o time_n call_v unto_o then_o also_o whereas_o it_o be_v know_v well_o enough_o that_o god_n work_v that_o worship_n afore_o say_v in_o we_o by_o secondary_a cause_n we_o may_v out_o of_o it_o easy_o gather_v that_o by_o the_o virtue_n of_o this_o commandment_n we_o be_v lead_v to_o seek_v out_o the_o benefit_n of_o they_o and_o to_o take_v it_o unto_o ourselves_o of_o these_o secondary_a cause_n i_o find_v two_o sort_n whereof_o the_o former_a may_v well_o be_v term_v ordinary_a mean_n whereby_o it_o please_v god_n to_o work_v the_o other_o be_v more_o proper_o help_v for_o the_o better_a work_n of_o those_o mean_n so_o these_o other_o branch_n which_o do_v appertain_v to_o this_o com._n may_v well_o be_v reduce_v unto_o a_o couple_n of_o principal_a sort_n the_o former_a of_o those_o that_o do_v appertain_v to_o these_o ordinary_a mean_n the_o latter_a of_o those_o that_o do_v appertain_v to_o those_o other_o help_v as_o touch_v both_o which_o there_o be_v three_o principal_a thing_n that_o in_o this_o place_n be_v to_o be_v consider_v first_o what_o they_o be_v secondary_o how_o god_n work_v by_o they_o three_o in_o what_o sort_n we_o have_v to_o meet_v with_o the_o work_n of_o god_n or_o how_o to_o take_v the_o benefit_n of_o they_o but_o because_o the_o first_o &_o the_o second_o of_o these_o three_o be_v already_o set_v down_o in_o the_o former_a book_n whereunto_o they_o do_v more_o proper_o appertain_v here_o we_o shall_v need_v to_o talk_v but_o of_o the_o three_o that_o be_v how_o we_o ought_v to_o take_v the_o benefit_n of_o they_o therefore_o to_o come_v to_o those_o ordinary_a mean_n the_o word_n the_o sacrament_n the_o church_n &_o government_n this_o be_v our_o duty_n in_o every_o one_o first_o as_o touch_v the_o word_n we_o ought_v so_o high_o to_o esteem_v of_o it_o that_o not_o only_o we_o study_v it_o by_o ourselves_o &_o diligent_o geve_v ear_n to_o the_o same_o be_v read_v unto_o we_o but_o also_o that_o we_o ever_o maintain_v the_o ministry_n so_o far_o as_o the_o direction_n of_o god_n do_v lead_v we_o the_o mystery_n of_o the_o sacrament_n have_v we_o often_o to_o unfold_v before_o our_o eye_n ever_o strive_v thereby_o to_o maintain_v &_o better_v our_o union_n with_o christ_n and_o content_v ourselves_o once_o to_o have_v receive_v the_o one_o often_o to_o quicken_v up_o our_o faith_n by_o other_o as_o touch_v the_o church_n we_o must_v in_o deed_n be_v one_o of_o they_o &_o yet_o we_o must_v take_v good_a heed_n unto_o they_o as_o touch_v the_o former_a of_o these_o two_o point_n because_o they_o be_v the_o people_n of_o god_n we_o have_v to_o associate_v ourselves_o unto_o they_o and_o among_o they_o so_o never_o as_o we_o can_v not_o divide_v ourselves_o from_o the_o rest_n to_o the_o better_a sort_n when_o once_o we_o be_v come_v together_o not_o to_o part_v again_o without_o just_a occasion_n nor_o to_o geve_v they_o occasion_n to_o cast_v we_o out_o or_o to_o sunder_v themselves_o from_o we_o but_o ever_o keep_v with_o they_o diligent_o to_o reap_v from_o time_n to_o time_n whatsoever_o spiritual_a commodity_n we_o may_v have_v by_o they_o as_o touch_v the_o latter_a because_o they_o be_v but_o man_n we_o must_v beware_v jest_n if_o they_o happen_v to_o fall_v from_o the_o truth_n either_o in_o the_o whole_a as_o the_o jew_n and_o turk_n or_o but_o in_o part_n as_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n very_o foul_o have_v do_v they_o carry_v we_o also_o with_o they_o last_o of_o all_o that_o we_o may_v reap_v the_o benefit_n of_o government_n first_o we_o have_v to_o submit_v ourselves_o willing_o to_o draw_v in_o the_o yoke_n thereof_o not_o only_a when_o our_o magistrate_n themselves_o be_v good_a and_o their_o law_n very_o easy_a but_o also_o when_o then selue_o be_v bad_a &_o tyrannous_a &_o their_o law_n very_o grevous_a so_o long_o as_o the_o grievousness_n of_o they_o consist_v not_o in_o command_v such_o thing_n as_o be_v ill_a nor_o in_o forbid_v such_o thing_n as_o be_v good_a either_o in_o nature_n or_o in_o circumstance_n as_o the_o case_n stand_v but_o only_o in_o restrain_v our_o outward_a liberty_n in_o thing_n indifferent_a then_o also_o we_o must_v do_v our_o endeavour_n to_o maintain_v and_o uphold_v they_o with_o our_o counsel_n prayer_n body_n &_o good_n whether_o themselves_o be_v good_a or_o bad_a so_o long_o as_o they_o be_v our_o lawful_a magistrate_n the_o help_v that_o i_o speak_v of_o which_o it_o have_v please_v the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n to_o commend_v unto_o we_o for_o our_o better_a furtherance_n in_o those_o mean_n and_o therefore_o to_o be_v join_v with_o they_o be_v these_o three_o watch_v fast_v and_o prayer_n concern_v which_o we_o have_v in_o like_a sort_n but_o the_o third_o point_n to_o consider_v that_o be_v how_o we_o shall_v help_v ourselves_o by_o these_o which_o every_o one_o may_v see_v to_o be_v this_o that_o we_o ought_v diligent_o to_o occupy_v ourselves_o therein_o in_o they_o all_o &_o in_o every_o of_o they_o or_o in_o a_o few_o more_o word_n first_o that_o we_o advise_v ourselves_o with_o all_o possible_a circumspection_n what_o it_o be_v we_o have_v to_o do_v what_o may_v hinder_v or_o further_o the_o same_o secondary_o that_o we_o be_v so_o earnest_o be_v to_o do_v what_o we_o shall_v that_o we_o busy_o avoid_v whatsoever_o may_v turn_v we_o out_o of_o the_o way_n or_o but_o hinder_v we_o therein_o and_o ready_o use_v whatsoever_o may_v set_v we_o through_o the_o way_n or_o never_o so_o little_a help_n we_o forward_o last_o of_o all_o that_o we_o have_v so_o lively_a a_o feel_n of_o our_o own_o wretchedness_n and_o weakness_n on_o the_o one_o side_n and_o of_o the_o abundance_n and_o gracious_a kindness_n that_o be_v in_o god_n on_o the_o other_o side_n that_o to_o the_o performance_n of_o these_o thing_n we_o seek_v unto_o god_n with_o fervency_n of_o mind_n and_o to_o the_o end_n that_o our_o prayer_n may_v better_o speed_v we_o ever_o purge_v ourselves_o from_o our_o sin_n lest_o that_o by_o the_o
advance_v this_o work_n of_o redemption_n wherein_o there_o be_v three_o principal_a thing_n to_o be_v consider_v the_o first_o be_v that_o notwithstanding_o diverse_a let_n or_o hindrance_n that_o be_v in_o the_o way_n yet_o it_o please_v god_n to_o advance_v the_o publication_n of_o this_o work_n of_o redemption_n in_o such_o sort_n that_o in_o time_n convenient_a it_o be_v know_v &_o receive_v throughout_o the_o world_n and_o so_o all_o nation_n invite_v to_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n or_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n set_v open_a not_o to_o one_o nation_n now_o but_o to_o all_o believer_n the_o let_v that_o i_o speak_v of_o be_v especial_o three_o the_o nation_n of_o the_o jew_n their_o temple_n and_o ceremony_n yet_o remain_v in_o estimation_n most_o bitter_a persecution_n for_o a_o long_a time_n after_o immediate_o ensue_a and_o when_o it_o be_v cease_v most_o grievous_a variance_n and_o heresy_n that_o do_v then_o arise_v out_o of_o the_o peace_n and_o quietness_n of_o the_o church_n the_o second_o that_o after_o this_o when_o the_o people_n begin_v general_o to_o be_v weary_a of_o the_o word_n of_o life_n it_o please_v he_o so_o to_o avenge_v the_o contempt_n thereof_o throughout_o the_o earth_n that_o as_o since_o we_o have_v find_v he_o do_v in_o deed_n darken_v this_o fair_a day_n marvelous_a much_o in_o the_o east_n and_o much_o of_o the_o south_n by_o the_o abomination_n of_o mahomet_n in_o the_o west_n and_o much_o of_o the_o north_n by_o that_o most_o idolatrous_a vanity_n of_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n but_o yet_o he_o ever_o reserve_v unto_o himself_o a_o sufficient_a number_n of_o witness_n to_o testify_v the_o truth_n to_o the_o wicked_a world_n even_o in_o the_o corrupt_v time_n of_o all_o or_o whensoever_o the_o power_n of_o darkness_n most_o prevail_v the_o third_o and_o last_o that_o now_o to_o the_o comfort_n of_o all_o his_o people_n he_o do_v glorious_o advance_v the_o gospel_n again_o to_o wake_v we_o up_o against_o his_o come_n and_o every_o day_n more_o and_o more_o do_v notable_o purge_v it_o from_o the_o rust_n and_o cancre_z that_o corruption_n of_o time_n have_v bring_v unto_o it_o and_o mighty_o enlarge_v the_o beam_n of_o the_o truth_n to_o lighten_v all_o in_o all_o thing_n needful_a have_v so_o declare_v both_o in_o what_o sort_n he_o begin_v and_o after_o what_o manner_n hitherto_o he_o proceed_v in_o this_o manifestation_n of_o himself_o now_o have_v we_o to_o search_v out_o what_o must_v be_v the_o accomplishment_n or_o finish_v of_o it_o concern_v which_o he_o have_v give_v we_o before_o hand_n to_o understand_v that_o when_o the_o time_n appoint_v shall_v come_v than_o shall_v be_v the_o day_n of_o general_a judgement_n wherein_o he_o will_v finish_v the_o whole_a work_n here_o under_o a_o couple_n of_o sort_n the_o first_o be_v of_o those_o that_o be_v depart_v before_o that_o time_n who_o must_v all_o whether_o their_o soul_n be_v in_o wretchedness_n or_o in_o bless_a estate_n have_v their_o own_o body_n restore_v to_o they_o again_o to_o the_o end_n that_o as_o soul_n and_o body_n have_v communicate_v together_o in_o such_o thing_n as_o they_o have_v do_v so_o may_v they_o both_o together_o have_v their_o judgement_n the_o other_o be_v of_o those_o that_o shall_v live_v at_o that_o present_a who_o shall_v first_o sudden_o be_v change_v and_o make_v such_o as_o those_o be_v that_o be_v rise_v again_o and_o then_o with_o the_o rest_n receive_v their_o judgement_n as_o touch_v the_o manner_n of_o that_o judgement_n we_o be_v give_v to_o understand_v that_o our_o saviour_n shall_v come_v in_o great_a glory_n the_o heaven_n and_o the_o earth_n shall_v pass_v at_o his_o presence_n all_o mankind_n shall_v be_v divide_v or_o sunder_v into_o a_o couple_n of_o several_a part_n &_o the_o heart_n of_o all_o be_v plain_o open_v he_o shall_v pronounce_v everlasting_a joy_n or_o blessedness_n to_o the_o one_o everlasting_a torment_n or_o purpose_n have_v ordain_v as_o well_o for_o the_o time_n as_o also_o for_o the_o manner_n of_o issue_n three_o that_o he_o do_v unite_v couple_n or_o knit_v together_o all_o in_o one_o with_o certain_a band_n of_o mutual_a society_n so_o far_o as_o the_o kind_n or_o nature_n of_o every_o one_o may_v bear_v and_o that_o on_o the_o needful_a behalf_n both_o of_o the_o whole_a and_o of_o every_o member_n or_o part_n of_o his_o work_n with_o some_o special_a kind_n there_o be_v three_o principal_a sort_n the_o first_o and_o principal_n be_v the_o same_o that_o he_o bestow_v on_o his_o choose_a or_o peculiar_a people_n the_o second_o that_o which_o he_o cast_v upon_o the_o reprobate_n or_o castaway_n seed_n the_o three_o the_o same_o whereby_o he_o work_v in_o all_o inferior_a creature_n as_o touch_v his_o work_n with_o the_o choose_a there_o be_v five_o principal_a thing_n to_o be_v consider_v first_o what_o the_o work_n itself_o be_v that_o he_o work_v in_o they_o secondary_o how_o far_o he_o work_v in_o they_o the_o same_o that_o he_o work_v three_o by_o what_o degree_n he_o do_v it_o fourthly_a by_o what_o power_n last_o of_o all_o to_o what_o end_n or_o purpose_n to_o find_v out_o what_o the_o work_n itself_o be_v we_o have_v to_o consider_v how_o he_o work_v in_o they_o first_o as_o they_o be_v man_n then_o as_o they_o be_v his_o elect_v number_n or_o choyce-flocke_n as_o they_o be_v man_n his_o work_n in_o they_o be_v no_o more_o but_o that_o which_o consist_v in_o those_o three_o point_n of_o his_o general_a work_n with_o all_o that_o so_o he_o may_v make_v they_o in_o those_o thing_n also_o convenient_a member_n of_o their_o common_a society_n with_o all_o thing_n else_o which_o be_v that_o he_o according_a as_o he_o think_v good_a do_v uphold_v and_o maintain_v they_o guide_n &_o order_v they_o and_o knit_v they_o
reason_n of_o it_o we_o become_v odious_a unto_o he_o and_o never_o freight_v our_o head_n so_o full_a of_o worldly_a fancy_n but_o that_o we_o may_v be_v able_a to_o keep_v our_o mind_n unto_o our_o prayer_n it_o forbid_v first_o the_o branch_n then_o also_o the_o root_n &_o whatsoever_o other_o branch_n come_v out_o of_o the_o same_o the_o branch_n be_v to_o be_v occupy_v in_o our_o usual_a affair_n on_o the_o sabbath_n day_n the_o root_n be_v to_o be_v worldly_a mind_v or_o to_o have_v so_o little_a account_n of_o our_o inward_a sanctification_n that_o we_o do_v not_o much_o care_n though_o still_o we_o remain_v as_o bad_a as_o before_o and_o ever_o be_v occupy_v in_o the_o work_n of_o our_o own_o corrupt_a nature_n the_o other_o branch_n that_o do_v spring_n out_o of_o the_o feast_n drink_v gamn_v or_o such_o like_a or_o if_o we_o absent_v ourselves_o from_o the_o ordinary_a divine_a service_n or_o if_o we_o either_o cause_n or_o suffer_v other_o that_o be_v under_o our_o charge_n so_o to_o do_v secondary_o as_o touch_v those_o ordinary_a mean_n before_o set_v down_o if_o we_o have_v so_o little_a care_n to_o be_v godly_a that_o we_o behave_v ourselves_o clean_o contrary_a to_o that_o which_o be_v before_o set_v down_o as_o namely_o first_o as_o touch_v the_o word_n if_o either_o we_o do_v flat_o despise_v and_o abhor_v or_o else_o not_o singular_o regard_v either_o the_o read_n or_o the_o hear_n of_o it_o or_o if_o either_o we_o do_v clean_o pluck_v down_o the_o ministry_n or_o by_o our_o niggardly_a allowance_n but_o steal_v away_o the_o force_n thereof_o as_o for_o the_o sacrament_n if_o either_o altogether_o we_o shun_v they_o or_o but_o in_o some_o point_n after_o our_o manner_n abuse_v they_o bury_v the_o one_o in_o deep_a oblivyon_n and_o come_v to_o the_o other_o either_o unreverent_o or_o very_o seldom_o or_o not_o at_o all_o but_o for_o fear_n of_o civil_a coercion_n or_o shame_n of_o the_o world_n concern_v the_o church_n or_o in_o it_o the_o better_a sort_n if_o either_o we_o never_o join_v unto_o they_o or_o quick_o start_v out_o again_o or_o make_v they_o weary_a of_o our_o company_n or_o take_v not_o to_o we_o the_o benefit_n of_o they_o and_o as_o for_o government_n if_o we_o be_v so_o much_o give_v to_o live_v after_o our_o licentious_a will_n that_o either_o we_o go_v about_o to_o overthrow_v it_o one_o way_n or_o other_o or_o else_o live_v not_o by_o the_o rule_n of_o it_o at_o least_o when_o we_o hope_v that_o we_o be_v in_o secret_a last_o of_o all_o as_o touch_v those_o help_v if_o we_o do_v not_o use_v they_o as_o be_v describe_v first_o concern_v watch_v if_o either_o we_o do_v not_o advice_n ourselves_o of_o those_o thing_n aforesaid_a or_o if_o they_o happen_v to_o come_v into_o our_o head_n forthwith_o suppress_v they_o and_o lull_v our_o self_n a_o sleep_n in_o security_n again_o as_o for_o fast_v if_o we_o use_v not_o occasion_n of_o goodness_n nor_o avoid_v occasion_n of_o naughtiness_n but_o tender_o spare_v our_o labour_n in_o the_o one_o and_o licentious_o geve_v over_o ourselves_o to_o the_o other_o and_o in_o the_o mean_a season_n set_v down_o ourselves_o in_o some_o wicked_a or_o vain_a toy_n in_o the_o name_n of_o fast_v last_o of_o all_o as_o touch_v prayer_n the_o branch_n be_v either_o never_o to_o trouble_v ourselves_o therewith_o either_o not_o at_o
