blind_a true_a it_o be_v that_o god_n inlighten_v we_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n but_o yet_o be_v we_o still_o in_o darkness_n &_o can_v see_v two_o finger_n breadth_n afore_o us._n but_o when_o let_v we_o be_v thorough_o persuade_v in_o ourselves_o that_o if_o we_o will_v prosper_v the_o only_a blessing_n of_o god_n must_v suffice_v we_o though_o we_o have_v not_o all_o thing_n at_o wil._n when_o we_o have_v take_v never_o so_o much_o pain_n yet_o must_v we_o not_o trust_v in_o the_o strength_n of_o our_o own_o hand_n nor_o be_v so_o blind_v with_o fond_a presumption_n as_o to_o say_v have_v wherewith_o impart_v to_o the_o poor_a that_o want_n and_o let_v every_o man_n beware_v that_o he_o filch_v away_o none_o other_o man_n good_n and_o let_v we_o be_v content_v with_o our_o competent_a food_n and_o raiment_n as_o god_n list_v to_o bestow_v upon_o we_o and_o in_o so_o do_v we_o shall_v be_v bless_v at_o his_o hand_n but_o what_o our_o distrustfulness_n our_o excess_n superiority_n over_o other_o ought_v to_o forbear_v all_o tyranny_n &_o to_o be_v kyndharted_a towards_o those_o who_o god_n have_v put_v in_o subjection_n to_o he_o so_o as_o he_o reign_n not_o over_o they_o with_o cruelty_n ne_o enforce_v they_o to_o all_o that_o ever_o he_o may_v but_o deal_v gentle_o with_o they_o as_o with_o his_o brethren_n and_o although_o we_o be_v not_o nowadays_o his_o labour_n if_o i_o covenaunt_v with_o one_o to_o serve_v i_o well_o say_v he_o you_n shall_v pay_v i_o thus_o much_o for_o my_o day_n work_n but_o in_o the_o end_n i_o cut_v his_o hire_n so_o short_a that_o the_o poor_a man_n after_o he_o have_v do_v all_o he_o be_v able_a shall_v not_o have_v wherewith_o to_o feed_v himself_o for_o why_o i_o will_v see_v this_o man_n here_o must_v needs_o labour_v he_o have_v not_o else_o whereon_o to_o live_v and_o he_o must_v needs_o pass_v through_o my_o hand_n therefore_o i_o will_v have_v he_o for_o what_o i_o listen_v after_o that_o manner_n do_v the_o rich_a behave_v themselves_o often_o time_n in_o this_o behalf_n they_o espy_v some_o occasion_n or_o other_o to_o the_o intent_n they_o may_v cut_v off_o the_o one_o half_a of_o the_o poor_a man_n wage_n when_o he_o know_v not_o what_o to_o set_v himself_o about_o the_o poor_a folk_n offer_v themselves_o to_o labour_n they_o desire_v but_o to_o get_v their_o live_n if_o they_o can_v tell_v where_o hereupon_o you_o shall_v have_v a_o rich_a man_n say_v this_o fellow_n be_v out_o of_o money_n and_o out_o of_o work_n i_o may_v hire_v he_o now_o for_o a_o morsel_n of_o bread_n for_o he_o must_v yield_v unto_o i_o spite_v of_o his_o tooth_n i_o will_v give_v he_o but_o half_a wage_n and_o he_o shall_v be_v glad_a and_o fain_o of_o that_o therefore_o when_o we_o use_v such_o rigour_n although_o we_o have_v not_o withhold_v their_o hire_n yet_o be_v it_o a_o point_n of_o cruelty_n and_o we_o have_v defraud_v the_o poor_a and_o this_o cloak_n of_o pay_v the_o money_n the_o same_o day_n will_v stand_v we_o in_o no_o steed_n before_o god_n for_o it_o be_v to_o be_v know_v whether_o the_o poor_a man_n be_v content_v or_o no._n when_o a_o rich_a man_n have_v ware_n to_o sell_v and_o one_o come_v unto_o he_o for_o they_o he_o will_v say_v you_o shall_v not_o have_v they_o for_o any_o less_o and_o why_o his_o ware_n diminish_v not_o in_o his_o shop_n but_o if_o there_o be_v a_o poor_a man_n which_o live_v from_o hand_n to_o mouth_n and_o have_v neither_o penny_n nor_o half_a penny_n in_o his_o purse_n he_o shall_v be_v force_v to_o sell_v his_o ware_n for_o nought_o
if_o one_o buy_v they_o at_o that_o price_n and_o know_v the_o necessity_n which_o the_o poor_a man_n be_v drive_v unto_o he_o be_v a_o manifest_a oppressor_n and_o we_o can_v skill_n to_o say_v in_o common_a proverb_n it_o be_v a_o hold_v of_o our_o foot_n upon_o a_o poor_a man_n throat_n it_o be_v a_o kind_n of_o robbery_n we_o have_v skill_n i_o say_v to_o speak_v thus_o by_o they_o which_o buy_v such_o penny_n worth_n of_o they_o that_o be_v in_o need_n and_o be_v so_o far_o pinch_v that_o they_o can_v be_v at_o no_o other_o choice_n but_o to_o do_v what_o they_o will_v have_v they_o let_v we_o note_v well_o then_o that_o god_n in_o this_o place_n not_o only_o command_v we_o to_o pay_v they_o without_o drive_v off_o from_o day_n to_o day_n which_o have_v labour_v or_o take_v pain_n for_o we_o but_o also_o will_v have_v we_o to_o have_v a_o dew_n regard_n of_o every_o man_n need_n and_o that_o when_o we_o set_v a_o poor_a man_n a_o work_n about_o our_o business_n we_o shall_v pay_v he_o his_o day_n hire_v yea_o and_o that_o every_o man_n shall_v set_v a_o price_n of_o his_o own_o ware_n so_o as_o if_o we_o come_v to_o drive_v a_o bargain_n the_o seller_n shall_v not_o be_v fain_o to_o say_v to_o we_o make_v what_o price_n you_o yourself_o listen_v and_o again_o that_o when_o a_o poor_a man_n have_v travail_v for_o we_o we_o shall_v not_o deal_v so_o unconscionable_o as_o to_o make_v no_o further_o account_v of_o he_o than_o to_o have_v the_o fruit_n of_o his_o labour_n but_o rather_o enter_v into_o just_a trial_n with_o ourselves_o whether_o if_o we_o be_v in_o his_o case_n which_o pine_v away_o &_o have_v no_o other_o mean_n to_o sustain_v himself_o but_o this_o we_o ourselves_o will_v be_v content_v to_o be_v so_o handle_v we_o will_v have_v man_n to_o use_v gentleness_n towards_o we_o and_o relieve_v and_o succour_v we_o let_v we_o therefore_o do_v the_o like_a or_o else_o we_o shall_v be_v accuse_v before_o god_n for_o it_o be_v say_v that_o it_o shall_v be_v sin_n unto_o we_o when_o a_o poor_a man_n shall_v so_o cry_v out_o against_o us._n and_o yet_o for_o all_o this_o we_o hear_v every_o day_n the_o cry_n and_o clamour_n which_o the_o poor_a cease_v not_o in_o lamentable_a wise_a to_o make_v and_o think_v we_o that_o god_n be_v deaf_a all_o this_o while_n &_o that_o he_o hear_v not_o their_o complaint_n i_o grant_v that_o the_o poor_a in_o deed_n be_v sometime_o unthankful_a and_o spiteful_a so_o as_o there_o be_v no_o deal_n with_o they_o and_o they_o will_v as_o it_o be_v rake_v unto_o themselves_o other_o man_n good_n and_o when_o they_o be_v request_v to_o lend_v their_o hand_n to_o some_o work_n they_o will_v have_v a_o double_a and_o treble_a recompense_n &_o they_o will_v have_v great_a wage_n you_o shall_v see_v some_o so_o stout_a and_o presumptuous_a that_o they_o will_v not_o bestow_v pain_n in_o any_o thing_n except_o they_o be_v great_o entreat_v and_o yet_o they_o be_v so_o lazy_a that_o they_o will_v scarce_o put_v forth_o one_o hand_n to_o do_v their_o work_n aright_o and_o for_o all_o this_o there_o be_v such_o a_o do_v to_o please_v they_o that_o they_o will_v have_v their_o full_a payment_n yea_o and_o double_v the_o price_n of_o their_o day_n work_n this_o be_v to_o be_v see_v but_o yet_o for_o all_o that_o there_o be_v many_o as_o i_o tell_v you_o which_o be_v pinch_v and_o therefore_o their_o cry_n must_v needs_o ascend_v up_o into_o heaven_n and_o let_v we_o not_o imagine_v that_o we_o shall_v be_v find_v guiltless_a before_o god_n for_o whereas_o it_o be_v say_v that_o it_o shall_v be_v sin_n unto_o we_o it_o be_v to_o show_v y_z t_o albeit_o man_n sue_v we_o not_o ne_o commence_v any_o action_n against_o we_o for_o it_o in_o this_o world_n yet_o notwithstanding_o we_o shall_v not_o fail_v to_o be_v culpable_a before_o god_n yea_o although_o the_o poor_a shall_v not_o cry_v at_o all_o as_o it_o have_v be_v declare_v heretofore_o the_o thing_n then_o in_o effect_n which_o we_o have_v to_o bear_v in_o mind_n be_v that_o we_o ought_v to_o have_v a_o eye_n unto_o every_o man_n need_n and_o not_o to_o oppress_v he_o which_o be_v in_o necessity_n think_v that_o we_o have_v a_o occasion_n of_o make_v our_o own_o profit_n by_o a_o other_o man_n loss_n when_o we_o see_v that_o he_o can_v not_o be_v without_o us._n let_v we_o beware_v that_o we_o be_v not_o so_o cruel_a for_o although_o he_o make_v no_o complaint_n against_o we_o in_o this_o world_n yet_o before_o god_n we_o be_v culpable_a and_o that_o ought_v to_o quicken_v we_o up_o so_o much_o the_o more_o in_o our_o duty_n consider_v that_o god_n reprove_v we_o of_o cruelty_n in_o such_o wise_a now_o moses_n add_v a_o second_o law_n that_o the_o father_n shall_v not_o be_v put_v to_o death_n for_o the_o child_n nor_o the_o child_n for_o the_o father_n but_o that_o every_o man_n shall_v bear_v the_o punishment_n of_o his_o own_o sin_n this_o law_n be_v ordain_v because_o of_o a_o wicked_a &_o beastly_a custom_n which_o then_o reign_v among_o the_o man_n of_o the_o east_n country_n who_o make_v it_o a_o matter_n of_o no_o conscience_n to_o put_v the_o child_n to_o death_n for_o the_o father_n offence_n and_o so_o to_o shed_v the_o blood_n of_o the_o innocent_a god_n therefore_o mean_v to_o withhold_v his_o people_n from_o follow_v such_o barbarous_a deal_n of_o the_o paynim_n and_o infidel_n and_o it_o be_v a_o point_n which_o we_o must_v diligent_o note_v for_o we_o may_v muse_v why_o it_o be_v say_v that_o the_o father_n shall_v not_o be_v kill_v for_o the_o child_n nor_o the_o child_n for_o the_o father_n it_o seem_v that_o it_o be_v needless_a to_o forbid_v this_o thing_n because_o we_o know_v that_o where_o sin_n be_v find_v there_o the_o punishment_n ought_v to_o be_v lay_v without_o seek_v any_o far_o now_o therefore_o forasmuch_o as_o we_o be_v give_v to_o understande_v that_o man_n have_v be_v so_o blockish_a as_o to_o put_v he_o to_o death_n who_o be_v in_o no_o fault_n so_o as_o the_o father_n have_v sometime_o be_v draw_v to_o death_n with_o the_o child_n we_o perceive_v thereby_o that_o god_n have_v not_o without_o cause_n establish_v this_o law_n it_o be_v true_a in_o deed_n that_o this_o be_v speak_v unto_o judge_n and_o unto_o such_o as_o bear_v the_o sword_n in_o their_o hand_n that_o the_o child_n shall_v not_o be_v put_v to_o death_n for_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o father_n nor_o the_o father_n for_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o child_n but_o yet_o notwithstanding_o god_n in_o general_n warn_v we_o also_o that_o we_o ought_v not_o to_o hate_v the_o child_n for_o their_o father_n sake_n whensoever_o we_o see_v a_o wicked_a man_n forasmuch_o as_o he_o be_v a_o reasonable_a creature_n we_o ought_v to_o pity_v as_o if_o we_o do_v put_v the_o father_n to_o death_n for_o the_o child_n and_o so_o let_v we_o note_v well_o that_o this_o law_n appertain_v unto_o we_o all_o and_o although_o we_o be_v not_o arm_v with_o power_n and_o authority_n to_o punish_v who_o we_o listen_v yet_o notwithstanding_o god_n put_v we_o in_o mind_n not_o without_o just_a cause_n that_o he_o which_o have_v offend_v must_v bear_v his_o own_o punishment_n and_o not_o any_o other_o guiltless_a person_n beside_o here_o a_o man_n may_v demand_v a_o question_n what_o be_v the_o cause_n then_o why_o god_n threaten_v that_o he_o will_v punish_v the_o wickedness_n of_o father_n upon_o their_o child_n 32.18_o jer._n 32.18_o and_o cast_v it_o as_o it_o be_v into_o their_o bosom_n this_o be_v say_v because_o that_o god_n be_v appearance_n if_o we_o be_v sick_a if_o we_o be_v hungry_a or_o thirsty_a if_o we_o be_v torment_v in_o this_o present_a world_n if_o we_o be_v trouble_v and_o persecute_v all_o these_o be_v y_z e_z curse_n of_o god_n our_o enemy_n scoff_n at_o we_o we_o be_v in_o reproach_n in_o poverty_n in_o vexation_n &_o in_o many_o anguish_v one_o be_v trouble_v in_o his_o house_n by_o his_o wife_n a_o other_o by_o his_o child_n and_o a_o other_o by_o his_o neighbour_n final_o the_o faithful_a be_v many_o way_n deprive_v of_o y_z e_z blessing_n of_o god_n it_o be_v sure_a so_o howbeit_o this_o let_v not_o but_o y_a to_o we_o be_v evermore_o bless_v of_o he_o by_o reason_n y_o it_o we_o have_v a_o continual_a taste_n of_o his_o goodness_n to_o allure_v we_o unto_o he_o let_v we_o therefore_o
