governor_n be_v strict_a yet_o to_o be_v sure_o they_o will_v never_o be_v tie_v to_o the_o performance_n of_o solitary_a worship_n but_o reject_v it_o as_o a_o unreasonable_a and_o intolerable_a imposition_n and_o so_o much_o too_o of_o either_o or_o both_o the_o other_o as_o they_o dare_v for_o fear_n of_o man_n superior_n and_o neighbour_n we_o know_v that_o how_o little_a so_o ever_o be_v require_v by_o the_o most_o undeniable_a authority_n of_o god_n himself_o yet_o every_o one_o of_o mankind_n will_v not_o regard_v it_o but_o this_o be_v yet_o great_o different_a to_o reject_v a_o commandment_n out_o of_o mere_a prophanesse_n as_o they_o do_v any_o of_o the_o rest_n and_o for_o which_o their_o conscience_n give_v they_o many_o nip_n now_o and_o will_v gnaw_v upon_o they_o man_n to_o employ_v and_o also_o compatible_a certain_o with_o any_o worldly_a business_n we_o do_v not_o now_o argue_v how_o it_o shall_v be_v distribute_v between_o the_o continuance_n and_o frequency_n whether_o all_o the_o continuance_n to_o be_v in_o one_o day_n or_o two_o or_o more_o or_o every_o day_n to_o share_v alike_o that_o we_o have_v already_o do_v chap._n 8._o and_o show_v the_o whole_a proportion_n to_o be_v best_o all_o on_o one_o day_n but_o we_o say_v whether_o less_o than_o such_o a_o proportion_n in_o the_o whole_a can_v be_v sufficient_a for_o god_n honour_n and_o the_o soul_n salvation_n or_o this_o can_v be_v just_o except_v against_o as_o unnecessary_a and_o injurious_a if_o sober_a conscience_n put_v but_o
universal_a or_o peremptory_a determination_n of_o this_o continuance_n distributive_o between_o the_o solitary_a worship_n the_o family_n worship_n and_o the_o public_a worship_n that_o be_v there_o be_v no_o need_n that_o all_o man_n shall_v be_v bind_v to_o such_o a_o exact_a or_o strict_a continuance_n in_o each_o of_o these_o single_a but_o so_o the_o whole_a continuance_n be_v share_v between_o all_o three_o and_o the_o public_a be_v not_o so_o short_a as_o to_o afford_v no_o remarkable_a space_n for_o a_o affect_a prayer_n and_o preach_v and_o the_o like_a and_o so_o no_o remarkable_a benefit_n to_o be_v get_v by_o it_o nor_o so_o long_o as_o to_o tire_v out_o the_o spirit_n and_o disappoint_v those_o that_o dwell_v far_o off_o of_o conveniency_n of_o return_n to_o their_o family_n and_o solitary_a devotion_n beside_o the_o regard_n of_o bodily_a necessity_n it_o can_v hardly_o be_v blame_v though_o some_o be_v long_o and_o some_o short_a in_o public_a and_o so_o in_o the_o rest_n for_o as_o much_o as_o god_n still_o have_v and_o so_o also_o every_a one_o soul_n have_v the_o full_a continuance_n determine_v and_o allot_v which_o conscionable_o observe_v in_o the_o variety_n of_o those_o duty_n may_v be_v and_o will_v be_v ordinary_o sufficient_a for_o their_o conscience_n and_o soul_n good_a and_o so_o acceptable_a to_o god_n though_o sometime_o more_o of_o the_o time_n be_v spend_v in_o public_a and_o sometime_o more_o in_o private_a and_o so_o at_o last_o we_o have_v do_v with_o the_o proof_n of_o the_o necessity_n of_o such_o a_o chief_a solemn_a time_n to_o be_v determine_v for_o the_o necessary_a and_o ordinary_o sufficient_a time_n for_o all_o man_n it_o remain_v that_o now_o in_o the_o last_o place_n we_o come_v to_o argue_v by_o who_o this_o determination_n must_v be_v or_o may_v be_v make_v but_o for_o that_o the_o next_o chapter_n be_v purposely_o reserve_v this_o have_v be_v already_o draw_v out_o to_o a_o more_o than_o beginning_n when_o once_o the_o former_a determination_n be_v conclusive_o settle_v for_o the_o continuance_n and_o frequency_n of_o the_o chief_a solemn_a time_n how_o far_o the_o law_n or_o light_n of_o nature_n will_v guide_v or_o command_v about_o this_o or_o any_o general_a rule_n of_o scripture_n leave_v the_o question_n by_o who_o it_o also_o be_v to_o be_v determine_v unto_o the_o follow_a chapter_n and_o here_o only_o touch_v in_o a_o few_o word_n for_o many_o will_v not_o need_v about_o it_o it_o have_v no_o such_o substantial_a profit_n as_o the_o continuance_n and_o frequency_n towards_o religion_n but_o only_o accidental_a as_o be_v needful_a to_o be_v again_o and_o again_o inculcate_v to_o our_o adversary_n who_o will_v cast_v off_o all_o that_o be_v heretofore_o determine_v by_o god_n because_o this_o be_v take_v away_o touch_v we_o say_v how_o far_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o there_o be_v any_o determination_n strict_o and_o conclusive_o of_o the_o quando_fw-la season_n or_o order_n of_o beginning_n that_o be_v for_o the_o particular_a day_n of_o that_o number_n that_o be_v determine_v for_o the_o chief_a time_n of_o worship_n and_o even_o of_o the_o begin_n of_o that_o day_n soon_o or_o late_a at_o evening_n or_o morning_n this_o or_o that_o hour_n now_o this_o i_o shall_v dispatch_v in_o four_o proposition_n 1._o there_o be_v a_o necessity_n that_o some_o particular_a day_n of_o such_o a_o number_n determine_v be_v determine_v before_o that_o number_n can_v be_v constant_o observe_v 2._o there_o be_v a_o necessity_n that_o to_o all_o that_o live_v within_o the_o reach_n one_o of_o another_o and_o so_o may_v possible_o be_v help_n one_o to_o another_o or_o hindrance_n one_o to_o another_o the_o same_o particular_a day_n last_o of_o the_o ten_o for_o when_o all_o the_o other_o nine_o be_v slip_v over_o and_o none_o of_o they_o determine_v the_o last_o of_o the_o ten_o avoidable_a must_v be_v observe_v the_o first_o revolution_n and_o withal_o remain_v for_o ever_o after_o determine_v unless_o a_o new_a day_n be_v afterward_o determine_v by_o as_o sufficient_a authority_n as_o be_v in_o the_o determiner_n of_o the_o number_n and_o then_o also_o without_o a_o alteration_n of_o the_o determination_n of_o the_o number_n the_o new_a determination_n can_v only_o be_v place_v upon_o one_o particular_a day_n namely_o the_o first_o of_o the_o ten_o and_o so_o if_o it_o be_v do_v by_o sufficient_a authority_n it_o may_v be_v do_v without_o any_o violation_n or_o alteration_n of_o the_o determination_n of_o the_o number_n at_o all_o for_o the_o strength_n of_o the_o determination_n of_o the_o number_n lie_v in_o these_o thing_n 1._o that_o there_o shall_v be_v but_o one_o day_n for_o religion_n to_o nine_o for_o worldly_a business_n and_o again_o but_o nine_o for_o worldly_a business_n to_o one_o for_o religion_n and_o neither_o more_o nor_o less_o either_o way_n ordinary_o 2._o that_o those_o nine_o day_n be_v the_o number_n of_o work_a day_n shall_v come_v all_o together_o and_o the_o day_n for_o religion_n not_o come_v between_o they_o for_o then_o sometime_o there_o will_v be_v less_o than_o nine_o together_o and_o sometime_o more_o now_o this_o be_v observe_v plain_o and_o undeniable_o in_o both_o respect_n in_o the_o instance_a change_n from_o the_o ten_o day_n to_o the_o first_o day_n for_o in_o those_o two_o revolution_n of_o twice_o ten_o day_n there_o be_v but_o two_o day_n for_o religion_n the_o last_o of_o the_o first_o ten_o and_o the_o first_o of_o the_o latter_a ten_o and_o there_o be_v twice_o nine_o day_n for_o worldly_a business_n and_o in_o each_o revolution_n either_o number_n of_o nine_o worldly_a day_n be_v entire_o all_o together_o and_o the_o day_n for_o religion_n come_v not_o in_o to_o break_v the_o number_n as_o they_o will_v do_v if_o the_o second_o day_n be_v determine_v for_o then_o there_o will_v be_v one_o day_n for_o work_v only_o and_o the_o day_n together_o for_o work_n and_o a_o nine_o not_o a_o ten_o objection_n objection_n according_a to_o the_o determination_n former_o settle_v for_o the_o number_n observe_v for_o religion_n if_o any_o say_v that_o this_o will_v be_v how_o ever_o but_o for_o once_o and_o that_o be_v no_o great_a matter_n special_o if_o religion_n lose_v nothing_o by_o it_o as_o by_o bring_v the_o day_n soon_o it_o will_v not_o we_o answer_v it_o be_v true_a if_o the_o authority_n be_v sufficient_a answer_n answer_n to_o change_v the_o number_n the_o matter_n be_v not_o of_o importance_n but_o if_o the_o authority_n that_o will_v change_v the_o order_n of_o the_o particular_a day_n from_o the_o ten_o to_o the_o nine_o or_o so_o and_o ever_o after_o keep_v a_o ten_o from_o
that_o yet_o have_v not_o also_o a_o authority_n sufficient_a to_o change_v the_o number_n that_o one_o alteration_n will_v make_v they_o guilty_a of_o transgression_n of_o a_o moral_a commandment_n of_o god_n namely_o in_o the_o point_n of_o the_o number_n which_o even_o once_o must_v not_o be_v do_v by_o man_n under_o any_o pretence_n whatsoever_o to_o apply_v this_o now_o in_o a_o word_n to_o worship_n of_o god_n as_o in_o all_o pagan_a country_n in_o those_o place_n therefore_o either_o man_n must_v have_v authority_n to_o determine_v for_o themselves_o sufficient_a time_n single_a or_o they_o shall_v have_v none_o determine_v to_o they_o and_o so_o it_o shall_v be_v leave_v to_o the_o will_n of_o other_o man_n whether_o they_o shall_v attend_v upon_o god_n and_o the_o care_n of_o antecedent_n determination_n sufficient_a time_n for_o religion_n 2._o beside_o that_o this_o pervert_v the_o state_n of_o the_o question_n for_o we_o be_v now_o suppose_v a_o determination_n must_v be_v make_v the_o authority_n be_v leave_v to_o some_o man_n or_o else_o it_o be_v still_o in_o god_n hand_n and_o his_o determination_n already_o make_v must_v stand_v that_o be_v some_o of_o they_o it_o must_v not_o then_o be_v answer_v that_o any_o may_v sufficient_o observe_v time_n for_o god_n without_o a_o determination_n it_o remain_v therefore_o that_o time_n be_v to_o be_v observe_v and_o determine_v that_o it_o may_v be_v observe_v even_o a_o chief_a and_o sufficient_a time_n for_o continuance_n and_o frequency_n both_o joint_o and_o that_o for_o all_o man_n it_o must_v be_v leave_v in_o most_o man_n it_o will_v be_v all_o one_o as_o to_o suppose_v it_o not_o at_o all_o necessary_a to_o have_v any_o determination_n of_o such_o sufficient_a time_n for_o there_o will_v be_v no_o to_o take_v away_o their_o subject_n child_n servant_n from_o their_o work_n under_o pretence_n of_o religion_n so_o many_o hour_n in_o a_o day_n or_o day_n in_o a_o week_n month_n or_o year_n if_o god_n will_v do_v it_o himself_o as_o we_o say_v he_o have_v there_o be_v no_o just_a ground_n of_o gainsay_v but_o for_o man_n to_o do_v it_o special_o who_o can_v show_v no_o title_n of_o any_o here_o if_o we_o do_v stop_v we_o suppose_v upon_o the_o former_a proof_n and_o confession_n of_o such_o a_o time_n moral_a natural_a necessary_a to_o be_v determine_v for_o all_o man_n and_o to_o be_v observe_v by_o all_o man_n for_o religion_n that_o we_o have_v carry_v our_o cause_n against_o all_o gainsay_n member_n xxii_o argument_n against_o the_o church_n have_v authority_n to_o the_o chief_a time_n our_o argument_n for_o this_o be_v divers_a we_o begin_v with_o one_o general_a one_o border_v upon_o our_o forego_v proof_n and_o rest_v in_o part_n on_o they_o 1._o argum._n the_o scripture_n be_v principal_o write_v to_o be_v rule_n and_o law_n to_o the_o church_n and_o so_o if_o they_o contain_v any_o law_n for_o all_o the_o residue_n of_o mankind_n then_o much_o more_o shall_v the_o same_o law_n extend_v to_o they_o and_o bound_v they_o many_o law_n give_v to_o the_o church_n in_o scripture_n do_v not_o bind_v the_o rest_n of_o mankind_n absolute_o that_o be_v not_o till_o they_o enter_v into_o the_o church_n and_o so_o into_o the_o covenant_n of_o god_n they_o be_v not_o bind_v to_o the_o passeover_n nor_o admit_v to_o it_o till_o they_o yield_v themselves_o and_o all_o their_o male_n to_o be_v circumcise_v and_o no_o law_n command_v stranger_n to_o take_v circumcision_n upon_o they_o cornelius_n the_o centurion_n do_v not_o though_o a_o man_n that_o church_n which_o continue_v chief_o in_o the_o race_n of_o seth_n and_o again_o afterward_o a_o new_a revelation_n to_o chaâ—_n and_o his_o posterity_n and_o the_o rest_n of_o noah_n posterity_n who_o revolt_v from_o the_o church_n and_o remain_v out_o of_o it_o revelation_n we_o say_v to_o these_o of_o a_o determination_n make_v by_o god_n of_o a_o proportion_n of_o time_n that_o even_o they_o be_v to_o observe_v though_o no_o man_n can_v guess_v any_o thing_n what_o or_o how_o or_o when_o this_o be_v which_o be_v so_o exotic_a a_o fancy_n have_v so_o plain_a a_o story_n as_o gen._n 2._o before_o our_o eye_n as_o we_o suppose_v no_o man_n will_v believe_v himself_o if_o he_o shall_v offer_v to_o affirm_v it_o and_o much_o less_o hope_n that_o any_o other_o will_v believe_v he_o that_o believe_v the_o book_n of_o genesis_n to_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o that_o then_o we_o must_v have_v recourse_n to_o know_v what_o time_n god_n original_o require_v of_o and_o determine_v unto_o all_o mankind_n though_o revolt_a afterward_o from_o the_o church_n most_o of_o they_o and_o so_o neglect_v and_o forget_v it_o he_o vouchsafe_v not_o again_o to_o revive_v it_o to_o they_o particular_o for_o the_o reason_n we_o give_v but_o awhile_o since_o and_o so_o this_o time_n give_v to_o they_o for_o the_o chief_a solemn_a time_n necessary_a and_o sufficient_a be_v also_o give_v to_o the_o church_n who_o be_v also_o adam_n posterity_n or_o rather_o it_o be_v first_o give_v to_o the_o church_n in_o which_o at_o first_o outward_o all_o adam_n posterity_n be_v till_o they_o revolt_v and_o so_o still_o remain_v to_o the_o church_n as_o also_o that_o time_n be_v still_o the_o time_n which_o all_o the_o rest_n of_o mankind_n stand_v bind_v to_o to_o this_o day_n though_o now_o they_o know_v nothing_o of_o it_o answer_v xxiii_o a_o objection_n answer_v if_o it_o be_v object_v that_o this_o argument_n will_v prove_v indeed_o that_o the_o time_n mention_v gen._n 2._o be_v determine_v to_o adam_n and_o all_o the_o church_n under_o the_o old_a testament_n but_o not_o that_o it_o remain_v god_n determination_n under_o the_o new_a testament_n because_o with_o the_o determination_n of_o the_o chief_a solemn_a time_n for_o continuance_n and_o frequency_n namely_o one_o whole_a day_n in_o seven_o to_o make_v up_o the_o chief_a time_n necessary_a and_o sufficient_a for_o all_o man_n there_o be_v also_o unquestionable_o determine_v withal_o the_o particular_a day_n the_o seven_o day_n from_o the_o first_o creation_n and_o we_o do_v not_o urge_v that_o particular_a day_n upon_o the_o church_n and_o therefore_o no_o more_o may_v we_o the_o other_o determination_n of_o one_o day_n in_o seven_o for_o the_o chief_a time_n we_o answer_v brief_o 1._o we_o deny_v not_o but_o the_o pagan_n those_o that_o be_v out_o of_o the_o church_n and_o so_o know_v nothing_o of_o the_o change_n of_o that_o particular_a day_n stand_v bind_v still_o to_o that_o particular_a day_n as_o well_o as_o to_o one_o day_n in_o seven_o 2._o but_o yet_o we_o deny_v that_o christian_n do_v so_o because_o they_o know_v and_o can_v show_v god_n express_v repeal_n in_o his_o word_n in_o the_o new_a testament_n of_o that_o particular_a day_n we_o
it_o be_v more_o liberty_n to_o be_v bind_v to_o the_o church_n determination_n even_o of_o the_o same_o proportion_n of_o continuance_n and_o frequency_n then_o to_o be_v bind_v to_o a_o commandment_n of_o god_n if_o they_o shall_v say_v sol._n xxxv_o some_o exception_n answer_v sol._n that_o the_o church_n be_v at_o liberty_n whether_o it_o will_v have_v determine_v so_o much_o or_o not_o we_o answer_v this_o be_v indeed_o something_o in_o respect_n to_o the_o church-governor_n those_o that_o have_v this_o suppose_a authority_n of_o determination_n but_o it_o be_v nothing_o at_o all_o of_o liberty_n in_o respect_n to_o the_o ordinary_a member_n of_o the_o church_n to_o the_o great_a part_n of_o christian_n they_o be_v as_o strict_o tie_v by_o such_o a_o determination_n to_o one_o whole_a day_n in_o seven_o by_o the_o church_n authority_n as_o the_o jew_n be_v of_o old_a by_o god_n authority_n or_o as_o we_o say_v christian_n be_v now_o and_o if_o they_o will_v say_v sol._n excep_v 2._o sol._n the_o tie_n be_v less_o strict_a beside_o that_o they_o have_v not_o show_v wherein_o suppose_v such_o a_o determination_n we_o say_v than_o the_o determination_n be_v vain_a for_o it_o be_v vain_a to_o make_v a_o law_n to_o determine_v a_o time_n or_o any_o thing_n else_o authoritative_o and_o then_o for_o those_o to_o who_o it_o be_v make_v not_o to_o be_v tie_v strict_o to_o it_o particular_o in_o a_o law_n of_o this_o nature_n for_o a_o necessary_a and_o sufficient_a time_n for_o religion_n which_o suppose_v a_o firm_a obligation_n to_o observe_v it_o be_v once_o determine_v by_o just_a authority_n we_o say_v therefore_o again_o where_o be_v the_o christian_a liberty_n 3._o even_o the_o governors_n liberty_n be_v but_o for_o the_o first_o turn_n if_o that_o be_v true_a which_o we_o have_v argue_v before_o that_o this_o time_n be_v once_o determine_v by_o whosoever_o be_v unalterable_a by_o man_n and_o even_o if_o the_o church_n universal_a have_v power_n to_o alter_v it_o yet_o till_o such_o a_o assembly_n as_o do_v proper_o represent_v the_o church_n universal_a all_o church_n have_v no_o liberty_n at_o all_o and_o however_o much_o less_o the_o member_n of_o the_o church_n 4._o 3._o except_o 3._o if_o they_o place_v the_o freedom_n and_o liberty_n in_o determine_v a_o less_o continuance_n than_o a_o day_n as_o indeed_o this_o be_v the_o main_a thing_n they_o drive_v at_o we_o answer_v 1._o that_o our_o church_n in_o practice_n sol._n sol._n against_o work_n have_v determine_v no_o less_o than_o a_o day_n continuance_n whole_o and_o the_o 13._o canon_n of_o 1603._o speak_v no_o less_o affirmative_o for_o the_o observation_n of_o the_o whole_a day_n though_o in_o some_o general_a term_n 2._o and_o then_o they_o must_v say_v that_o it_o be_v unlawful_a for_o the_o church_n to_o determine_v a_o whole_a day_n which_o they_o can_v well_o do_v consider_v 1._o that_o a_o whole_a day_n may_v be_v lawful_o observe_v by_o their_o own_o confession_n and_o they_o usual_o hold_v that_o what_o a_o man_n may_v do_v voluntary_o the_o church_n may_v enjoin_v to_o do_v also_o 2._o we_o have_v argue_v one_o day_n at_o least_o in_o one_o life_n to_o be_v morall-naturall_a and_o therefore_o god_n do_v not_o in_o likelihood_n refuse_v the_o determination_n of_o a_o whole_a day_n in_o a_o convenient_a frequency_n as_o likewise_o 3._o we_o have_v show_v that_o a_o whole_a day_n continuance_n in_o a_o convenient_a frequency_n be_v clear_o the_o most_o profitable_a distribution_n of_o the_o proportion_n for_o the_o chief_a time_n and_o far_o more_o advantageous_a both_o for_o religion_n and_o worldly_a business_n than_o a_o less_o continuance_n with_o a_o more_o frequent_a revolution_n there_o be_v no_o probability_n therefore_o at_o all_o unless_o there_o be_v a_o certain_a word_n for_o it_o in_o scripture_n which_o there_o be_v not_o that_o god_n shall_v allow_v the_o church_n liberty_n to_o determine_v the_o the_o chief_a solemn_a time_n that_o they_o may_v have_v leisure_n to_o breath_n towards_o god_n and_o refresh_v their_o soul_n with_o converse_n with_o he_o in_o public_a domestic_a and_o solitary_a worship_n and_o so_o provide_v for_o eternity_n special_o that_o day_n all_o other_o day_n be_v so_o much_o take_v up_o with_o temporal_a and_o earthly_a matter_n and_o now_o the_o time_n be_v so_o short_a by_o a_o scanty_a determination_n that_o special_o as_o soon_o as_o the_o public_a worship_n be_v over_o they_o be_v again_o call_v upon_o by_o their_o earthly_a business_n and_o force_v to_o their_o worldly_a drudgery_n again_o as_o their_o spiritual_a soul_n will_v call_v it_o even_o by_o other_o importunity_n and_o haunt_v they_o special_o themselves_o be_v inferior_n be_v this_o we_o distinct_a mention_n of_o a_o blessing_n which_o yet_o as_o we_o say_v god_n have_v annex_v to_o his_o determination_n of_o a_o weekly_a sabbath_n for_o the_o chief_a time_n for_o religion_n even_o from_o the_o beginning_n but_o without_o such_o express_a and_o particular_a determination_n from_o god_n or_o a_o express_a promise_n of_o blessing_n on_o the_o proportion_n which_o man_n or_o the_o church_n shall_v determine_v whatever_o it_o be_v which_o be_v not_o where_o to_o be_v find_v in_o scripture_n we_o have_v no_o manner_n of_o ground_n to_o conceit_n a_o blessing_n on_o any_o proportion_n of_o time_n that_o can_v be_v determine_v by_o man_n for_o religion_n to_o make_v that_o sufficient_a for_o man_n soul_n a_o blessing_n we_o say_v beyond_o the_o proportion_n of_o that_o which_o may_v be_v expect_v from_o so_o long_a and_o so_o often_o attendance_n on_o religion_n a_o multiply_a blessing_n in_o the_o nature_n of_o christ_n blessing_n the_o five_o loaf_n and_o two_o fish_n to_o feed_v more_o by_o many_o then_o the_o natural_a proportion_n can_v possible_o give_v hope_n of_o so_o that_o the_o attendance_n on_o god_n one_o day_n in_o seven_o which_o be_v the_o time_n in_o question_n shall_v be_v bless_v beyond_o a_o ordinary_a day_n service_n if_o it_o be_v not_o special_o appoint_v by_o god_n and_o have_v a_o strong_a influence_n on_o all_o the_o other_o six_o day_n of_o the_o week_n follow_v then_o can_v be_v expect_v from_o so_o much_o time_n spend_v in_o religion_n simple_o consider_v as_o so_o much_o time_n and_o without_o such_o a_o blessing_n upon_o the_o consecrate_a solemn_a time_n the_o soul_n will_v still_o be_v lean_a hungry_a and_o even_o starve_v for_o want_v of_o a_o sufficient_a proportion_n of_o time_n by_o reason_n of_o its_o manifold_a continual_a necessity_n faint_n decay_n and_o temptation_n so_o that_o whatever_o our_o adversary_n dispute_v against_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n we_o conceive_v they_o dispute_v against_o their_o own_o participation_n of_o a_o blessing_n upon_o whatsoever_o time_n be_v determine_v and_o observe_v by_o man_n themselves_o or_o other_o and_o that_o a_o certain_a blessing_n may_v be_v rest_v on_o in_o the_o observation_n of_o one_o day_n in_o seven_o as_o from_o god_n determination_n then_o in_o two_o day_n in_o seven_o three_o day_n nay_o six_o day_n in_o seven_o at_o man_n appointment_n for_o here_o still_o will_v be_v uncertainty_n whether_o this_o proportion_n be_v sufficient_a but_o god_n command_n which_o in_o all_o his_o ordinance_n have_v eternal_o a_o blessing_n annex_v to_o the_o right_a observer_n be_v sure_a and_o certain_a to_o convey_v a_o blessing_n and_o make_v a_o sufficiency_n for_o the_o chief_a time_n in_o which_o conscience_n may_v abundant_o rest_v and_o satisfy_v themselves_o and_o this_o we_o be_v full_o persuade_v god_n mean_v to_o signify_v to_o we_o when_o gen._n 2._o at_o the_o first_o mention_n of_o his_o consecrate_v a_o solemn_a time_n he_o say_v the_o lord_n bless_v the_o seven_o day_n and_o sanctify_v it_o a_o day_n or_o any_o other_o such_o creature_n be_v capable_a of_o no_o other_o blessing_n then_o to_o be_v make_v a_o mean_n of_o blessing_n to_o the_o right_a user_n of_o it_o according_a to_o god_n command_n and_o observe_v that_o because_o god_n see_v that_o the_o encouragement_n of_o a_o blessing_n be_v great_o necessary_a in_o this_o matter_n he_o say_v not_o the_o lord_n sanctify_v the_o seven_o day_n and_o bless_v it_o but_o the_o lord_n bless_v and_o sanctify_a first_o bless_a and_o then_o sanctify_v though_o we_o can_v tell_v how_o to_o conceive_v the_o blessing_n without_o the_o sanctification_n go_v before_o or_o at_o least_o concurrent_a yet_o god_n to_o show_v more_o abundant_o his_o goodness_n and_o graciousnesse_n both_o in_o challenge_v this_o proportion_n to_o himself_o of_o one_o day_n in_o seven_o and_o allow_v by_o his_o indulgence_n six_o day_n of_o seven_o for_o worldly_a occasion_n he_o put_v the_o blessing_n foremost_a and_o so_o he_o do_v also_o remarkable_o in_o the_o four_o commandment_n where_o have_v express_o allow_v the_o indulgence_n of_o six_o day_n for_o worldly_a work_n after_o he_o have_v challenge_v a_o seven_o day_n for_o a_o sabbath_n for_o himself_o he_o repeat_v his_o own_o example_n of_o six_o day_n work_n and_o then_o his_o blessing_n a_o sabbath_n a_o seven_o day_n and_o sanctify_v it_o why_o so_o but_o to_o assure_v we_o that_o a_o happy_a blessing_n shall_v attend_v the_o conscionable_a observation_n of_o this_o sabbath_n of_o one_o day_n in_o seven_o that_o though_o it_o be_v so_o little_a a_o proportion_n yet_o it_o shall_v be_v ordinary_o sufficient_a for_o the_o chief_a time_n and_o all_o the_o six_o day_n between_o the_o revolution_n of_o this_o sabbath_n one_o day_n in_o seven_o shall_v taste_v of_o the_o good_a get_v on_o that_o day_n the_o strength_n of_o it_o last_a in_o man_n soul_n from_o sabbath_n to_o sabbath_n with_o a_o little_a of_o each_o day_n beside_o as_o be_v say_v former_o and_o they_o shall_v by_o it_o principal_o grow_v in_o grace_n and_o spiritual_a comfort_n in_o god_n towards_o eternal_a life_n notwithstanding_o all_o their_o ordinary_a and_o great_a interruption_n of_o worldly_a business_n on_o the_o work_a day_n and_o upon_o this_o we_o have_v as_o it_o seem_v to_o we_o expound_v lxxii_o the_o text_n of_o isa_n 56.2_o expound_v the_o evangelical_n prophet_n isa_n a_o clear_a &_o pertinent_a commentator_n &_o interpreter_n as_o we_o touch_v before_o and_o that_o in_o two_o chapter_n of_o his_o prophecy_n towards_o the_o latter_a end_n where_o he_o be_v much_o if_o not_o altogether_o upon_o the_o time_n of_o the_o gospel_n let_v we_o see_v what_o he_o say_v to_o our_o purpose_n c._n 56._o &_o 58._o in_o the_o former_a place_n call_v all_o sort_n to_o god_n covenant_n and_o particular_o to_o the_o observation_n of_o the_o sabbath_n he_o begin_v with_o blessed_n be_v the_o man_n that_o do_v this_o and_o the_o son_n of_o man_n that_o lay_v hold_v on_o it_o that_o keep_v the_o sabbath_n from_o pollute_v it_o v._o 2._o then_o encourage_v the_o eunuch_n though_o person_n under_o a_o kind_n of_o legal_a curse_n in_o those_o day_n to_o this_o observation_n he_o promise_v they_o from_o god_n an_o everlasting_a name_n better_a then_o of_o son_n and_o of_o daughter_n a_o name_n which_o shall_v not_o be_v cut_v off_o that_o be_v a_o spiritual_a blessing_n on_o their_o soul_n and_o a_o own_v they_o for_o his_o true_a and_o faithful_a servant_n v._o
