what_o the_o law_n can_v not_o do_v 3_o in_o that_o it_o be_v weak_a through_o the_o flesh_n god_n send_v forth_o his_o son_n etc._n etc._n it_o be_v a_o hard_a case_n my_o brethren_n that_o these_o degenerate_a presbyterian_o or_o any_o pretend_v to_o be_v gospel-preacher_n shall_v deny_v christ_n to_o be_v a_o common_a head_n and_o surety_n for_o the_o elect_n for_o he_o that_o die_v in_o the_o stead_n and_o room_n of_o other_o be_v by_o the_o consent_n of_o the_o lawgiver_n substitute_v in_o their_o law_n place_n and_o so_o take_v upon_o he_o the_o capacity_n of_o a_o surety_n representative_a or_o common_a person_n undertake_v to_o do_v and_o suffer_v what_o other_o shall_v but_o these_o man_n deny_v this_o relation_n or_o capacity_n of_o christ_n as_o a_o surety_n in_o this_o sense_n and_o therefore_o deny_v he_o obey_v and_o die_v in_o our_o stead_n and_o from_o hence_o it_o follow_v also_o that_o christ_n do_v not_o do_v that_o for_o we_o which_o our_o own_o christ_n be_v not_o put_v in_o our_o law_n place_n as_o our_o representative_a and_o surety_n why_o be_v he_o make_v of_o a_o woman_n 4._o and_o make_v under_o the_o law_n be_v it_o not_o that_o the_o law_n may_v reach_v he_o 1._o as_o to_o its_o command_a power_n as_o our_o surety_n to_o pay_v the_o debt_n of_o perfect_a obedience_n thereunto_o 2._o and_o as_o a_o sinner_n in_o a_o law_n sense_n to_o die_v or_o be_v make_v sin_n for_o we_o that_o be_v by_o imputation_n for_o have_v not_o he_o be_v under_o the_o law_n the_o law_n can_v not_o have_v reach_v he_o in_o either_o sense_n i._n e._n either_o to_o do_v or_o suffer_v and_o have_v not_o he_o take_v our_o law_n place_n upon_o he_o we_o can_v not_o have_v be_v the_o better_a for_o what_o can_v his_o take_v our_o nature_n on_o he_o have_v profit_v we_o have_v he_o not_o be_v substitute_v in_o our_o room_n but_o as_o we_o be_v oblige_v by_o the_o law_n justice_n and_o holiness_n of_o god_n to_o keep_v the_o law_n perfect_o so_o he_o be_v make_v under_o the_o law_n to_o keep_v it_o for_o we_o and_o as_o we_o be_v sinful_a man_n and_o liable_a to_o the_o just_a sentence_n of_o the_o law_n for_o our_o violation_n of_o it_o so_o he_o be_v make_v under_o the_o law_n and_o as_o our_o representative_a and_o surety_n to_o die_v and_o to_o satisfy_v divine_a justice_n for_o our_o transgression_n that_o be_v against_o it_o he_o be_v make_v under_o the_o law_n i._n e._n under_o the_o preceptory_a part_n of_o it_o to_o fulfil_v and_o establish_v that_o he_o satisfy_v for_o that_o part_n of_o the_o law_n he_o be_v under_o the_o law_n as_o be_v liable_a to_o the_o punishment_n or_o penalty_n of_o the_o law_n that_o he_o may_v answer_v and_o fulfil_v that_o and_o for_o ever_o deliver_v we_o from_o the_o punishment_n thereof_o we_o reproof_n concern_v christ_n work_n and_o office_n as_o mediator_n we_o say_v and_o prove_v that_o by_o christ_n active_a and_o perfect_a obedience_n to_o the_o law_n we_o be_v justify_v and_o deliver_v from_o wrath_n and_o condemnation_n or_o that_o by_o christ_n righteousness_n impute_v believer_n be_v perfect_o justify_v and_o free_v from_o the_o curse_n of_o the_o law_n and_o be_v certain_o entitle_v to_o eternal_a life_n 1._o but_o our_o new_a work-monger_n assert_v that_o our_o justification_n or_o right_n to_o life_n depend_v whole_o upon_o our_o obedience_n to_o the_o gospel_n as_o a_o law_n as_o the_o condition_n to_o which_o it_o be_v promise_v therefore_o as_o one_o observe_v it_o put_v we_o into_o a_o condition_n of_o life_n imperfect_a and_o subject_a to_o change_v as_o obedience_n it_o self_n be_v and_o that_o we_o be_v not_o perfect_o justify_v till_o our_o obedience_n be_v perfect_v thus_o mr._n clark_n of_o high-wickham_n and_o other_o 18._o take_v mr._n clark_n word_n viz._n our_o justification_n at_o present_a while_o we_o be_v in_o this_o world_n be_v but_o partial_a imperfect_a and_o incomplete_a ans._n now_o say_v i_o this_o confound_v justification_n with_o sanctification_n and_o as_o i_o have_v tell_v he_o extreme_n than_o it_o also_o follow_v that_o believer_n be_v partly_o justify_v and_o partly_o condemn_v i._n e._n we_o be_v not_o acquit_v from_o the_o guilt_n of_o all_o sin_n whilst_o in_o this_o world_n and_o so_o christ_n dove_n be_v not_o undefiled_a lord_n what_o a_o age_n do_v we_o live_v in_o 2._o we_o say_v that_o we_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o christ_n righteousness_n and_o the_o benefit_n of_o it_o by_o our_o union_n with_o he_o through_o the_o spirit_n by_o which_o mean_v faith_n be_v wrought_v in_o we_o by_o which_o we_o apprehend_v he_o and_o we_o say_v that_o faith_n be_v a_o instrument_n whereby_o we_o receive_v he_o faith_n only_o justify_v we_o objective_o i._n e._n it_o be_v not_o faith_n but_o
